Este trabajo se centra en dos tipos de emprendedores internacionales, o "expat-preneurs": los “pre-departure expat-preneurs”, quienes emigran a otros países para crear o expandir un negocio fuera de su país, y los “transitioned expat-preneurs”, expatriados afianzados en un país que, tras un tiempo, deciden emprender, partiendo ya de una base de clientes consolidada, un capital, contactos y conocimiento del entorno. Este trabajo contribuye a entender las razones que llevan a emprender en otros países y las diferencias y similitudes entre los emprendedores globales. Los resultados revelan que se trata de un proceso que puede considerarse selectivo en cuanto al género., This paper focuses on two types of international entrepreneurs, "expat-preneurs": pre-departure expat-preneurs, who emigrate to other countries to create or expand a business outside their own country, and transitioned expat-preneurs, expatriates who, after a period, decide to become entrepreneurs, starting with an established customer base, capital, contacts and knowledge of the environment. This research contributes to understanding the reasons for entrepreneurship in other countries and the differences and similarities between global entrepreneurs. In addition, the results reveal that this is a process that can be considered gender selective.

This paper investigates the adjustment of self-initiated expatriates, with a particular emphasis on organizational culture. One hundred and twenty-five self-initiated expatriates around the globe participated in the online survey. We examined the impact that organizational culture has on self-initiated expatriate work and non-work-related adjustment using multiple linear regression analysis. Four types of organizational culture (clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy) were explored. The results revealed that Clan culture has a positive effect on the work and non-work-related adjustment of self-initiated expatriates.

Savižudybė yra viena dažniausių darbingo amžiaus asmenų mirties priežasčių. Nusižudžius bendradarbiui, darbuotojų savijauta, emocinė būklė ir neretai darbo produktyvumas pablogėja. Todėl labai svarbu, kad organizacija šiuo sunkiu periodu suteiktų darbuotojams palaikymą. Šiame straipsnyje analizuojama, kokios postvencinės palaikymo priemonės yra taikomos ir kas jas suteikia organizacijoje. Empirinio tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad Lietuvoje organizacijos dažniausiai naudoja tik būtinąsias palaikymo priemones, tokias kaip dalyvavimas laidotuvėse ar velionio pagerbimas, tačiau nesiima papildomų priemonių, kurios palengvintų darbuotojų gedėjimą. Relevance. Suicide is one of the most common causes of death among working age people. When a co-worker commits a suicide, mental wellbeing, emotional state and work productivity of employees declines. Moreover, an organization faces both moral damages and material losses. Therefore, after a suicide of the co-worker it is very important for the organization to ensure appropriate support mechanisms for employees during this difficult period. However, the majority of research is targeted to support for relatives of a person who committed suicide rather than organizational support for employees coping with the death of a co-worker. Moreover, there is no enough information how the organization should act, communicate and what kind of support provide to the rest of the employees in such kind of a case. Consequently, measures that are applied after death of an employee and supporters are analysed in this work. Research object – organizational support measures after a suicide of a co-worker. Research goal is to disclose organizational support measured after a suicide of a co-worker. Research methodology. In order to achieve research goal quantitative data was collected. A quantitative research with questionnaire online was used. The questionnaire was filled-in by 413 respondents. The main results. Results revealed that every sixth respondent had encountered with a co-workers suicide and it had an influence on their emotional well-being and work quality. Survey indicated that organizations use only the essential measures such as participation in funerals or honouring the person after death the most in Lithuania. However, additional measures, which would help to alleviate grieving are not applied. Based on analysis of scientific literature, it was identified types of supporters in organization: an organizational support, support of the supervisor, co-workers and mentor. The results showed that 29 percent of respondents received support from co-workers, 19 percent from their families and more than 14 percent from their supervisor. However, ten percent of respondents got none support from anybody.

Debido a la disminución de la tasa de natalidad y el aumento de la emigración, la población de Lituania cayó de 3.500.000 a 2.800.000 en el período de 1990 a 2015. Este trabajo analiza las razones y consecuencias de cuatro olas de emigración en la economía de un país europeo como Lituania. Para ello, en este artículo se realizó un estudio empírico a 4.010 emigrantes lituanos entre octubre de 2016 y enero de 2017. Los resultados revelaron los principales factores de empuje y atracción ( push-pull) que provocaron una emigración masiva que no ha parado de crecer. Se presenta un análisis estadístico de los factores económicos y no económicos que motivan la migración en Lituania, y se realiza una comparación con otros países de la UE. Factores económicos como el bajo nivel de salarios destacan como factores primarios y de importancia creciente durante todas las olas de emigración de la Lituania contemporánea. Una emigración que se debe principalmente a factores de empuje (push) que han supuesto el envejecimiento de la población y la pérdida de empleados cualificados, lo que a largo plazo tendrá importantes efectos sobre la productividad del trabajo, reduciendo el desarrollo económico total del país.

Pabėgėlių krizė, prasidėjusi 2015 m. Europoje sukėlė didelius debatus ir suskaldė Europos sąjungos visuomenę. Buvo išsakyta daug skirtingų nuomonių apie pabėgėlius bei su jais susijusias grėsmes. Viena jų – saugumas. Šiame straipsnyje atskleidžiama Lietuvos piliečių nuomonė apie saugumą, susijusį su pabėgėliais. Remiantis mokslinės literatūros analize buvo išskirtos keturios saugumo faktorių grupės: šalies stabilumas, socialiniai konfliktai, nusikaltimai ir terorizmas. 335 respondentai dalyvavo kiekybiniame tyrime 2015m. rudenį. Rezultatai atskleidė gana neigiamą Lietuvos piliečių požiūrį į pabėgėlius. Tyrimo dalyviai išsakė savo nuomonę, kad atvertos sienos į ES dar labiau paskatins pabėgėlių srautus į Europą, o tai neigiamai paveiks ES vienybę. Terorizmo aktas Paryžiuje 2015 m. lapkričio 13d. dar labiau padidino respondentų nuomonę apie terorizmo grėsmę. Be to pastebėtina, jog moterys labiau neigiamai nusiteikę prieš pabėgėlius musulmonus, o daugiau vyrų neįžvelgia jokių grėsmių, kilsiančių iš pabėgėlių, lyginant jų atsakymus su moterų. Be to, jaunesni piliečiai išreiškė labiau neigiamą nuomonę apie pabėgėlių dominavimą ir musulmonų sąsajas su terorizmu. Refugee crises rose different debates and divided society in the European Union. Security is one of the main issue, connected with refugees in Europe. This paper presents results of quantitative study toward refugees among Lithuanian citizens in 2015. 535 respondents participated in this study. Stability of a country, crimes, social conflicts and terrorism were highlighted as the main possible security threats. Results revealed quite negative attitude toward refugees by Lithuanian citizens. It was highlighted that refugees could have negative impact of the EU unity, could increase terrorism and crimes. Statistical differences according to gender and age were highlighted. Moreover, respondents opinion about refugees became worse after terror act in Paris in 2015.
