Performance prediction has been a key part of the neural architecture search (NAS) process, allowing to speed up NAS algorithms by avoiding resource-consuming network training. Although many performance predictors correlate well with ground truth performance, they require training data in the form of trained networks. Recently, zero-cost proxies have been proposed as an efficient method to estimate network performance without any training. However, they are still poorly understood, exhibit biases with network properties, and their performance is limited. Inspired by the drawbacks of zero-cost proxies, we propose neural graph features (GRAF), simple to compute properties of architectural graphs. GRAF offers fast and interpretable performance prediction while outperforming zero-cost proxies and other common encodings. In combination with other zero-cost proxies, GRAF outperforms most existing performance predictors at a fraction of the cost., Comment: ICML 2024. We study the interaction of two counter-propagating electromagnetic waves in vacuum in the Born-Infeld electrodynamics. First we investigate the Born case for linearly polarized beams, ${\bf E}\cdot{\bf B}=0$, i. e. $\mathfrak{G}^2=0$ (crossed field configuration), which is identical for Born-Infeld and Born electrodynamics; subsequently we study the general Born-Infeld case for beams which are nonlinearly polarized, $\mathfrak{G}^2\neq0$. In both cases, we show that the nonlinear field equations decouple using self-similar solutions and investigate the shock wave formation. We show that the only nonlinear solutions are exceptional travelling wave solutions which propagate with constant speed and which do not turn into shocks for our approximation. We obtain two types of exceptional wave solutions, then we numerically analyze which phase velocities correspond to the counter- or co-propagating beams and subsequently we determine the direction of propagation of the exceptional waves., Comment: 7 figures, 25 pages. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2103.03575

We study two counter--propagating electromagnetic waves in the vacuum within the framework of the Born--Infeld theory in quantum electrodynamics. By choosing the crossed field case ${\bf E}\cdot{\bf B}=0$, i.e. $\mathfrak{G}^2=0$, the Born--Infeld Lagrangian reduces to the Born Lagrangian, therefore for this special case we present study which is identical for the Born--Infeld and the Born electrodynamics. In this paper, we show that the non--linear field equations decouple for ordinary wave case using self-similar solutions and we investigate the shock wave steepening. We show that the only solutions are exceptional traveling wave solutions which propagate with constant speed and which do not turn into shocks. We discuss the phase shift and the cross section of the process to be measured together with the our proposed direct detection of the photon--photon scattering \cite{KadlecovaKornBulanov2019,KadlecovaMine2019}. We probe the high frequency emission of a carbon nanotube based Josephson junction and compare it to its DC Josephson current. The AC emission is probed by coupling the carbon nanotube to an on-chip detector (a Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor junction), via a coplanar waveguide resonator. The measurement of the photo-assisted current of the detector gives direct access to the signal emitted by the carbon nanotube. We focus on the gate regions that exhibit Kondo features in the normal state and demonstrate that when the DC supercurrent is enhanced by the Kondo effect, the AC Josephson effect is strongly reduced. This result is compared to NRG theory and is attributed to a transition between the singlet ground state and the doublet excited state which is enabled only when the junction is driven out-of-equilibrium by a voltage bias., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, supplemental material

In the limit of extremely intense electromagnetic fields the Maxwell equations are modified due to the photon-photon scattering that makes the vacuum refraction index depend on the field amplitude. In presence of electromagnetic waves with small but finite wavenumbers the vacuum behaves as a dispersive medium. We show that the interplay between the vacuum polarization and the nonlinear effects in the interaction of counter-propagating electromagnetic waves can result in the formation of Kadomtsev-Petviashvily solitons and, in one-dimension configuration, of Korteveg-de-Vries type solitons that can propagate over a large distance without changing their shape., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

Quantum dots attached to BCS superconducting leads exhibit a $0-\pi$ impurity quantum phase transition, which can be experimentally controlled either by the gate voltage or by the superconducting phase difference. For the pertinent superconducting single-impurity Anderson model, we newly present two simple analytical formulae describing the position of the phase boundary in parameter space for the weakly correlated and Kondo regime, respectively. Furthermore, we show that the two-level approximation provides an excellent description of the low temperature physics of superconducting quantum dots near the phase transition. We discuss reliability and mutual agreement of available finite temperature numerical methods (Numerical Renormalization Group and Quantum Monte Carlo) and suggest a novel approach for efficient determination of the quantum phase boundary from measured finite temperature data. We present and analyze new exact gyraton solutions of algebraic type II on generalized Melvin universe of type D which admit non-vanishing cosmological constant $\Lambda$. We show that it generalizes both, gyraton solutions on Melvin and on direct product spacetimes. When we set $\Lambda = 0$ we get solutions on Melvin spacetime and for $\Sigma = 1$ we obtain solutions on direct product spacetimes. We demonstrate that the solutions are member of the Kundt family of spacetimes as its subcases. We show that the Einstein equations reduce to a set of equations on the transverse 2-space. We study the Anderson single-level quantum dot attached to two BCS superconducting leads with the same gap size. We reveal that a system with asymmetric tunnel coupling to the leads ($\Gamma_{L}\neq\Gamma_{R}$) can be related to the symmetric system with the same net coupling strength $\Gamma=\Gamma_{L}+\Gamma_{R}$. Surprisingly, it is the symmetric case which is the most general, meaning that all physical quantities in case of asymmetric coupling are fully determined by the symmetric ones. We give ready-to-use conversion formulas for the $0-\pi$ phase transition boundary, on-dot quantities, and the Josephson current, and illustrate them on the NRG results of Oguri, Tanaka and Bauer [Phys. Rev. B 87, 075432 (2013)] for the three-terminal setup. We apply our theory to the recent $0-\pi$ transition measurement of Delagrange et al. [Phys. Rev. B 93, 196437 (2016)] and determine the asymmetry of the experimental setup from the measured transition width. Finally, we establish that the widely assumed Kondo "universality" of physical quantities depending only on the ratio of the Kondo temperature and the superconducting gap $T_{K}/\Delta$ cannot hold for asymmetric junctions., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures v3: revised and extended version; sec. The generation of gravitational waves by laser accelerated relativistic ions is investigated. The piston and light sail models of laser plasma acceleration are considered and analytical expressions for space-time metric perturbation are derived. For both models the dependence of gravitational waves amplitude on the laser and plasma parameters as well as gravitational waves spectrum and angular distribution are examined, Comment: 13 pages

In this work we have found and analyzed several gyraton solutions on various non--trivial backgrounds in the large Kundt class of spacetimes. Namely, the gyraton solutions on direct product spacetimes, gyraton solutions on Melvin universe and its generalization which includes the cosmological constant. These solutions are of algebraic type II. Also we have investigated type III solutions within the Kundt class and we have found the gyratons on de Sitter spacetime. We present and analyze exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations in higher dimensions which form a large subclass of the Kundt family of spacetimes. We assume that the cosmological constant may be nonvanishing, and the matter consists of a background aligned electromagnetic field and an additional pure radiation (gyratonic) field with a spin. We show that the field equations reduce to a set of linear equations on the transverse space which can be solved exactly and expressed in terms of the Green functions. We thus find explicit exact gyratonic gravitational and electromagnetic fields created by a radiation beam of null matter with arbitrary profiles of energy density and angular momenta. In the absence of the gyratonic matter we obtain pure nonexpanding higher-dimensional gravitational waves. In particular, we investigate gyratons and waves propagating on backgrounds which are a direct-product of 2-spaces of constant curvature. Such type D or 0 background spacetimes generalize 4-dimensional Nariai, anti-Nariai and Plebanski-Hacyan universes, and conformally flat Bertotti-Robinson and Minkowski spaces. These spacetimes belong to a wider class of spaces which admit the Kahler structure related to the background magnetic field. The obtained wave and gyraton solutions are also members of the recently discussed class of spacetimes with constant scalar invariants (CSI) of the curvature tensor., Comment: 18 pages, no figures

We present and analyze new exact gyraton solutions of algebraic type II on a background which is static, cylindrically symmetric Melvin universe of type D. For a vanishing electromagnetic field it reduces to previously studied gyratons on Minkowski background. We demonstrate that the solutions are member of a more general family of the Kundt spacetimes. Asymptotic behaviour of gravitational and electromagnetic fields of exact type D solutions from the large Plebanski-Demianski family of black hole spacetimes is analyzed. The amplitude and directional structure of radiation is evaluated in cases when the cosmological constant is non-vanishing, so that the conformal infinities have either de Sitter-like or anti-de Sitter-like character. In particular, explicit relations between the parameters that characterize the sources (that is their mass, electric and magnetic charges, NUT parameter, rotational parameter, and acceleration) and properties of the radiation generated by them are presented. The results further elucidate the physical interpretation of these solutions and may help to understand radiative characteristics of more general spacetimes than those that are asymptotically flat., Comment: 24 pages, 18 figures.
