Objective: To assess the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of standardized extract of Cotinus coggygria (C. coggygria) in different animal models. Abstract Bacterial phytochromes are attractive molecular templates for engineering fluorescent proteins (FPs) because their near-infrared (NIR) emission significantly extends the spectral coverage of GFP-like FPs. Existing phytochrome-based FPs covalently bind heme-derived tetrapyrrole chromophores and exhibit constitutive fluorescence. Here we introduce Rep-miRFP, an NIR imaging probe derived from bacterial phytochrome, which interacts non-covalently and reversibly with biliverdin chromophore. In Rep-miRFP, the photobleached non-covalent adduct can be replenished with fresh biliverdin, restoring fluorescence. By exploiting this chromophore renewal capability, we demonstrate NIR PAINT nanoscopy in mammalian cells using Rep-miRFP.

Abstract Background Gasdermin D (GSDMD)-mediated pyroptotic cell death is implicated in the pathogenesis of cognitive deficits in sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE), yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely unclear. Dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) facilitates mitochondrial fission and ensures quality control to maintain cellular homeostasis during infection. This study aimed to investigate the potential role of the GSDMD/Drp1 signaling pathway in cognitive impairments in a mouse model of SAE. Methods C57BL/6 male mice were subjected to cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) to establish an animal model of SAE. In the interventional study, mice were treated with the GSDMD inhibitor necrosulfonamide (NSA) or the Drp1 inhibitor mitochondrial division inhibitor-1 (Mdivi-1). Surviving mice underwent behavioral tests, and hippocampal tissues were harvested for histological analysis and biochemical assays at corresponding time points. Haematoxylin-eosin staining and TUNEL assays were used to evaluate neuronal damage. Golgi staining was used to detect synaptic dendritic spine density. Additionally, transmission electron microscopy was performed to assess mitochondrial and synaptic morphology in the hippocampus. Local field potential recordings were conducted to detect network oscillations in the hippocampus. Results CLP induced the activation of GSDMD, an upregulation of Drp1, leading to associated mitochondrial impairment, neuroinflammation, as well as neuronal and synaptic damage. Consequently, these effects resulted in a reduction in neural oscillations in the hippocampus and significant learning and memory deficits in the mice. Notably, treatment with NSA or Mdivi-1 effectively prevented these GSDMD-mediated abnormalities. Conclusions Our data indicate that the GSDMD/Drp1 signaling pathway is involved in cognitive deficits in a mouse model of SAE. Inhibiting GSDMD or Drp1 emerges as a potential therapeutic strategy to alleviate the observed synaptic damages and network oscillations abnormalities in the hippocampus of SAE mice.

In recent years, the Ordos Basin has undergone a reevaluation, transitioning from a perception of a single block to a focus on understanding the influence of multiple stages and fault systems on hydrocarbon accumulation. This study utilizes the latest 3D seismic and drilling data alongside a theoretical model of strike-slip fault to analyze fault geometry and kinematics in the Xunyi-Yijun area of the basin's southern region. The mechanisms of fault formation are predicted and the related impacts on the formation and accumulation of deep carbonate rocks are also discussed. The results indicate the presence of three fault systems in the Xunyi-Yijun area, with decoupling between deep and shallow layers. The Lower Paleozoic strike-slip faults exhibit distinct characteristics, including high vertical structure, dip swing, and a "flower-shaped" structure in the section. The faults display "compression shear in the northwest, tension shear in the center, and segmental deformation on trunk fractures" on their planes.Moreover, the Lower Paleozoic strike-slip faults experienced two stages of tectonic activities with greater intensity observed from the Late Ordovician to the Silurian, marking the primary period of fault development. The activity intensity during the Middle to Late Permian was relatively weaker, with faults exhibiting inherited strike-slip characteristics. These faults formed two groups, one with a NE strike and the other with a NW strike. Additionally, during the second stage of the Caledonian period, ocean subduction and closure lead to stress being transferred to the basin interior. It is believed that the NE and NW strike basement weak zones existed in the southern Ordos Basin. As a result, the Lower Paleozoic strike-slip fault system likely formed due to the activation of oblique compression. This fault system has the potential to enhance the physical properties of deep carbonate reservoirs and create high-quality karst or tectonic fracture reservoirs in the Xunyi-Yijun area. Moreover, The formation of the "upper source and lower reservoir-lateral source and lateral reservoir" combination along the strike-slip fault belt is an area of interest for deep oil and gas exploration in the Xunyi-Yijun region.

Abstract The Ningdong coalfield has played a pivotal role in advancing local economic development and meeting national energy. Nevertheless, mining operations have engendered ecological challenges encompassing subterranean water depletion, land desertification, and ground subsidence, primarily stemming from the disruption of coal seam roof strata. Consequently, the local ecosystem has incurred substantial harm. Water-preserved coal mining presently constitutes the pivotal technology in mitigating this problem. The primary challenge of this technique lies in identifying critical aquifer layers and understanding the heights of water-conducting fracture zones. To obtain a precise comprehension of the seepage patterns within the upper coal seam aquifer during mining, delineate the extent of water-conducting fracture zones, non-invasive geophysical techniques such as time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (TL-ERT), magnetic resonance sounding (MRS), and spontaneous potential (SP) have been employed to monitor alterations within the shallow coalfield’s aquifer throughout the mining process in the Ningdong coalfield. By conducting meticulous examinations of fluctuations in resistivity, moisture content, and self-potential within the superjacent strata during coal seam extraction, the predominant underground water infiltration strata were ascertained, concurrently enabling the estimation of the development elevation of water-conducting fracture zones. This outcome furnishes a geophysical underpinning for endeavors concerning local water-preserved coal mining and ecological rehabilitation.

Abstract Cancer stem cells (CSCs) play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of human cancers. Previous studies have highlighted the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in modulating the stemness of CSCs. In our investigation, we identified an upregulation of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 in CSCs. The enforced expression of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 promotes tumorigenesis and self-renewal in pancreatic cancer CSCs. Conversely, the knockdown of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 inhibits tumorigenesis and self-renewal in pancreatic cancer CSCs. Furthermore, our findings reveal that lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 enhances self-renewal and tumorigenesis in pancreatic cancer CSCs by up-regulating osteopontin/secreted phosphoprotein 1(SPP1) and acting as a ceRNA to sponge miR-570-3p in pancreatic cancer (PC) CSCs. Additionally, lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 depleted pancreatic cancer cells exhibit heightened sensitivity to 5-FU-indued cell growth inhibition and apoptosis. Analysis of patient-derived xenografts (PDX) indicates that a low level of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 may serve as a predictor of 5-FU benefits in PC patients. Moreover, the introduction of SPP1 can reverse the sensitivity of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1-knockdown PC cells to 5-FU-induced cell apoptosis. Importantly, molecular studies have indicated that the elevated levels of lncRNAFOXD1-AS1 in PC are facilitated through METTL3 and YTHDF1-dependent m6A methylation. In summary, our results underscore the critical functions of lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 in the self-renewal and tumorigenesis of pancreatic cancer CSCs, positioning lncRNA FOXD1-AS1 as a promising therapeutic target for PC.

This study provides the first long-time series of spatial and temporal distributions for small lakes in the Larsemann Hills (69°23′S, 76°20′E) in the East Antarctic. In the Larsemann oasis, there is a significant number of over 150 small lakes, which can be observed with high spatial resolution in remote sensing imagery. However, accurately identifying and analyzing these small water bodies and elongated rivers has been challenging due to the mixed pixels effect and limitations in available middle spatial resolution imagery. In our study, we propose a data-driven approach within the conditional random fields framework, which considers three scales: superpixel, pixel, and subpixel, to refine the boundaries of small water bodies efficiently. The superpixel level quickly identifies the main water body and normalized difference water index provides a buffer region, while the pixel level employs support vector machine (SVM) to obtain a more precise boundary. Subpixel mapping technology within the pixel level further reduces mixed pixel effects for improved accuracy. The waterbodies were extracted from Sentinel-2 images with a spatial resolution of 10 m. The lake boundaries derived from the proposed algorithm in this study showed good agreement with in situ measurements of the lake shoreline delineated by aerial images from the 39th Chinese Antarctic Scientific Expedition. The analysis revealed distinct seasonal patterns across the Larsemann Hills, while the lake areas achieved their peak extents earlier, specifically in February before 2020 and in January after 2020. The water body mapping based on the proposed algorithm can contribute to Antarctic remote sensing hydrological observations, particularly in the monitoring of outburst events. These findings demonstrate the potential of extending this method to other Antarctic oases to enhance intra-annual lake observations. Moreover, Sentinel-2 images provide valuable remote sensing data for studying the seasonal cycles of water bodies, including those of varying sizes in the Larsemann Hills, based on long-term time series imagery.

Abstract Background Several studies have suggested a significant association of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) with ambient air pollutants. Existing studies have characterized the role of air pollutants on HFMD using only risk ratio measures while ignoring the attributable burden. And whether the geographical context (i.e., diverse topographic features) could modulate the relationships is unclear. Methods Daily reported childhood HFMD counts, ambient air pollution, and meteorological data during 2015–2017 were collected for each of 21 cities in Sichuan Province. A multistage analysis was carried out in different populations based on geographical context to assess effect modification by topographic conditions. We first constructed a distributed lag nonlinear model (DLNM) for each city to describe the relationships with risk ratio measures. Then, we applied a multivariate meta-regression to estimate the pooled effects of multiple air pollutants on HFMD from the exposure and lagged dimensions. Finally, attributable risks measures were calculated to quantify HFMD burden by air pollution. Results Based on 207554 HFMD cases in Sichuan Province, significant associations of HFMD with ambient air pollutants were observed mainly at relatively high exposure ranges. The effects of ambient air pollutants on HFMD are most pronounced on lag0 or around lag7, with relative risks gradually approaching the reference line thereafter. The attributable risks of O3 were much greater than those of other air pollutants, particularly in basin and mountain regions. Conclusions This study revealed significant pooled relationships between multiple air pollutants and HFMD incidence from both exposure and lag dimensions. However, the specific effects, including RRs and ARs, differ depending on the air pollution variable and geographical context. These findings provide local authorities with more evidence to determine key air pollutants and regions for devising and implementing targeted interventions.

Abstract This study investigates the potential of ellagic acid (EA), a phytochemical with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, in managing perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND). PND, which represents a spectrum of cognitive impairments often faced by elderly patients, is principally linked to surgical and anesthesia procedures, and heavily impacted by oxidative stress in the hippocampus and microglia-induced neuroinflammation. Employing an aged mice model subjected to abdominal surgery, we delve into EA's ability to counteract postoperative oxidative stress and cerebral inflammation by engaging the Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) pathway. Our findings revealed that administering EA orally notably alleviated post-surgical cognitive decline in older mice, a fact that was manifested in improved performance during maze tests. This enhancement in the behavioral performance of the EA-treated mice corresponded with the rejuvenation of IGF-1 signaling, a decrease in oxidative stress markers in the hippocampus (like MDA and carbonylated protein), and an increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as SOD and CAT. Alongside these, we observed a decrease in microglia-driven neuroinflammation in the hippocampus, thus underscoring the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory roles of EA. Interestingly, when EA was given in conjunction with an IGF1R inhibitor, these benefits were annulled, accentuating the pivotal role that the IGF-1 pathway plays in the neuroprotective potential of EA. Hence, EA could serve as a potent candidate for safeguarding against PND in older patients by curbing oxidative stress and neuroinflammation through the activation of the IGF-1 pathway.

BackgroundIn China, bacillary dysentery (BD) is the third most frequently reported infectious disease, with the greatest annual incidence rate of 38.03 cases per 10,000 person-years. It is well acknowledged that temperature is associated with BD and the previous studies of temperature-BD association in different provinces of China present a considerable heterogeneity, which may lead to an inaccurate estimation for a region-specific association and incorrect attributable burdens. Meanwhile, the common methods for multi-city studies, such as stratified strategy and meta-analysis, have their own limitations in handling the heterogeneity. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt an appropriate method considering the spatial autocorrelation to accurately characterize the spatial distribution of temperature-BD association and obtain its attributable burden in 31 provinces of China.MethodsA novel three-stage strategy was adopted. In the first stage, we used the generalized additive model (GAM) model to independently estimate the province-specific association between monthly average temperature (MAT) and BD. In the second stage, the Leroux-prior-based conditional autoregression (LCAR) was used to spatially smooth the association and characterize its spatial distribution. In the third stage, we calculate the attribute BD cases based on a more accurate estimation of association.ResultsThe smoothed association curves generally show a higher relative risk with a higher MAT, but some of them have an inverted “V” shape. Meanwhile, the spatial distribution of association indicates that western provinces have a higher relative risk of MAT than eastern provinces with 0.695 and 0.645 on average, respectively. The maximum and minimum total attributable number of cases are 224,257 in Beijing and 88,906 in Hainan, respectively. The average values of each province in the eastern, western, and central areas are approximately 40,991, 42,025, and 26,947, respectively.ConclusionBased on the LCAR-based three-stage strategy, we can obtain a more accurate spatial distribution of temperature-BD association and attributable BD cases. Furthermore, the results can help relevant institutions to prevent and control the epidemic of BD efficiently.

Abstract While the mechanism of general anesthesia has been extensively studied, the underlying neural circuitry has yet to be fully understood. The parabrachial nucleus (PBN) plays a crucial role in modulating wakefulness and promoting arousal from general anesthesia. However, the specific role of PBN projections in the process of general anesthesia remains unclear. In this study, we bilaterally injected AAV-associated viruses encoding excitatory or inhibitory optogenetic probes into the PBN and implanted optical fibers in the LH or BF area. After four weeks, we optogenetically activated or inhibited the PBN-LH and PBN-BF pathways under 1.5 vol% isoflurane. We calculated the time it took for anesthesia induction and emergence, simultaneously monitoring changes in the burst-suppression ratio using electroencephalogram recording. Our findings indicate that optogenetic activation of the PBN-LH and PBN-BF projections plays a significant role in promoting both cortical and behavioral emergence from isoflurane inhalation, without significantly affecting the induction time. Conversely, photoinhibition of these pathways prolonged the recovery time, with no notable difference observed during the induction phase. In summary, our results demonstrate that the PBN-LH and PBN-BF pathways are crucial for promoting arousal from isoflurane general anesthesia, but do not have a pronounced impact on the induction phase.

Herein, we simultaneously prepared borax-crosslinked starch-based hydrogels with enhanced mechanical properties and self-healing ability via a simple one-pot method. The focus of this work is to study the effects of the amylose/amylopectin ratio of starch on the grafting reactions and the performance of the resulting borax-crosslinked hydrogels. An increase in the amylose/ amylopectin ratio increased the gel fraction and grafting ratio but decreased the swelling ratio and pore diameter. Compared with hydrogels prepared from low-amylose starches, hydrogels prepared from high-amylose starches showed pronouncedly increased network strength, and the maximum storage modulus increased by 8.54 times because unbranched amylose offered more hydroxyl groups to form dynamic borate ester bonds with borate ions and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, leading to an enhanced crosslink density. In addition, all the hydrogels exhibited a uniformly interconnected network structure. Furthermore, owing to the dynamic borate ester bonds and hydrogen bonds, the hydrogel exhibited excellent recovery behavior under continuous step strain, and it also showed thermal responsiveness.

The physical and morphological characteristics of wool and cashmere fibers exhibit notable similarities, making distinguishing them challenging. In this study, we propose a method based on a lightweight hybrid model called MobileViT, which combines a vision transformer and convolutional neural network, for the real-time identification of fiber categories. After training on a large sample dataset, the model was validated on a test set of 61,095 fiber images belonging to six categories; it took 26.2 s to achieve a recognition accuracy of 97.19%. This paper presents the first attempt to use a hybrid model of Transformer and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for the recognition of fiber images. Experimental results demonstrate that the model is capable of effectively extracting features from fibers, and it outperforms pure CNN models in terms of both speed and accuracy.

Objectives Anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity is a debilitating cardiac dysfunction for which there are no effective treatments, making early prevention of anthracycline-induced subclinical cardiotoxicity (AISC) crucial. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) plays a role in cardioprotection, but its impact on AISC remains unclear. Our study aims to elucidate the protective capacity of HDL-C in AISC in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) treated with R-CHOP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, doxorubicin, prednisone and rituximab).Design Prospective observational study.Setting Conducted in China from September 2020 to September 2022.Participants 70 chemotherapy-naïve patients newly diagnosed with DLBCL who were scheduled to receive the standard dose of R-CHOP; 60 participants included in a case–control study (DOI: 10.1186/s12885-022-10085-6).Primary outcome measures Serum biomarkers, 2D speckle tracking echocardiography and conventional echocardiography were measured at baseline, at the end of the third and sixth cycles of R-CHOP and 6 and 12 months after chemotherapy.Results 24 patients experienced AISC, while 10 did not. 36 patients were lost to follow-up and death. Cox regression analysis showed that higher levels of HDL-C were associated with a significantly lower risk of AISC (unadjusted HR=0.24, 95% CI 0.09 to 0.67, p=0.006; adjusted HR=0.27, 95% CI 0.09 to 0.79, p=0.017). Patients without AISC had a more stable and higher HDL-C level during the follow-up period. HDL-C levels significantly decreased from the end of the third cycle of chemotherapy to the end of the sixth cycle of chemotherapy in all patients (p=0.034), and particularly in the AISC group (p=0.003). The highest level of HDL-C was significantly higher in patients without AISC than in those with AISC (1.52±0.49 vs 1.22±0.29, p=0.034).Conclusions Our study suggests that higher HDL-C levels may associate with lower AISC risk in patients with DLBCL treated with R-CHOP. HDL-C could be a cardioprotective target, but further research is needed to confirm its benefits and limitations.Study registration number Study registration number: ChiCTR2100054721

Abstract Introduction Although sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) is known to be involved in dexmedetomidine (DEX)‐mediated alleviation of renal ischemia and reperfusion injury, the influence of the association between DEX and SIRT3 on nephritis development remains unclear. In this study, the role of SIRT3 in DEX‐mediated amelioration of inflammation and oxidative stress in nephritis as well as the possible underlying mechanism were explored in vivo and in vitro. Methods An animal model of glomerulonephritis was generated by injecting mice with interferon‐alpha (IFNα)‐expressing adenoviruses, and periodic acid–Schiff staining was then used to reveal pathogenicity‐related changes in the renal tissue. Additionally, human embryonic kidney cells (HEK293) and renal mesangial cells (RMCs) were treated with IFNα to establish cell models of inflammation in vitro. Results DEX administration alleviated glomerulonephritis in the animal model and upregulated SIRT3 expression in the renal tissue. SIRT3 knockdown inhibited the renoprotective effects of DEX against nephritis. IFNα induced inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis in the RMCs and HEK293 cells and reduced their growth, as evidenced by the evaluation of cytokine levels (enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay), reactive oxygen species generation, catalase and superoxide dismutase activities, nuclear factor‐erythroid factor 2‐related factor 2/heme oxygenase‐1 signal transduction, apoptotic cell proportion, and cell viability. In addition to promoting SIRT3 expression, DEX inhibited IFNα‐induced inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis in these cells and promoted their viability. SIRT3 knockdown partially reversed the beneficial effects of DEX on RMCs and HEK293 cells. Conclusions Our results suggest that DEX exhibits renoprotective activity during nephritis progression, protecting renal cells against inflammatory injury by promoting SIRT3 expression.

Using the AlCoCrFeNi high entropy alloy to enhance 2124 aluminum alloy composites is an effective way to solve its application limitations in friction and wear. In this study, the composites were prepared by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. The results show that the diffusion layer was formed at the interface between high entropy particles and the matrix, and there were dislocations and significant lattice distortions near the interface. In addition, the friction coefficient (0.399) and wear rate (7.05∗10−4 mm3 N−1 m−1) of the composites were lower than the 2124 aluminum alloys. Moreover, the yield strength, tensile strength and compressive strength of composites were 396.2 MPa, 498.3 MPa, and 560.5 MPa, respectively. And the yield strength of the composite was almost 2 times more than that of AA2124. This work discussed the effect of interface on mechanical properties and explain the formation of diffusion layer. The present study provides a strategy to solve the lack of wear resistance and strength of composites.

Multiscale virtual environments (MSVEs) allow the integration of elements and environments at different scale levels into a unified space, which facilitates researchers’ perception, understanding, and experimental research of complex geospatial spaces. Although there have been several methods for achieving multiscale effects in virtual environments (VEs), they cannot assist users in constructing more complete spatial cognitive maps and presenting multiscale information efficiently. This study proposes a hierarchical-structure-based MSVE construction method, which can effectively integrate multiscale information and ensure that the richness of details of information is gradually enhanced with the progression of the hierarchical structure. In addition, a spatial navigation study is conducted, considering the relationship between users’ perspective changes and spatial cognition, and the effects of users’ perspective changes on their spatial cognition in an MSVE are explored. A multiscale virtual wetland environment covering four levels is constructed to conduct a case study of a virtual environment of a wetland of Poyang Lake. The research results show that the proposed method is feasible. Moreover, the spatial navigation based on the change in the hierarchical perspective is in line with the spatial cognitive habits of users, which can satisfy the cognitive needs of users from the macro-region to specific wetland landscapes.

Environmental pollution caused by marine engines fueled with fossil fuels is a matter of growing significance. The search for renewable and clean energy sources and improvements in the way fossil fuels are burnt aims to reduce the environmental impact of these engines. For this purpose, fatty acid methyl esters were produced from pure canola oil using KOH-assisted methanol-based transesterification with a maximum yield of 90.68 ± 1.6%. The marine engine’s model was created with CONVERGE software, followed by experimental verification. This paper examines the blended fuel characteristics of a diesel engine with biodiesel blends (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) at different loads of engines (50%, 75%, and 100%). It also explores the variation in these characteristics of B10 (10% biodiesel–diesel blends) at three different load conditions and four different EGR rates (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%). The results indicate that the addition of biodiesel to diesel fuel reduces CO, HC, and soot emissions, while increasing NOx emissions. Additionally, the EGR rate decreases NOx emissions but results in higher levels of soot, CO, and HC emissions. Finally, response surface methodology was used to elicit the engine’s characteristics. It was determined that the optimum experimental operating conditions were 100% engine load, 6.9% biodiesel addition, and 7.7% EGR. The corresponding BTE, BSFC, NOx, and HC emissions were 38.15%, 282.62 g/(kW-h), 274.38 ppm, and 410.37 ppm, respectively.

The rapid production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a hallmark of plants’ successful recognition of pathogen infection and plays a crucial role in innate immune signaling. Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane channels that facilitate the transport of small molecular compounds across cell membranes. In plants, AQPs from the plasma membrane intrinsic protein (PIP) family are utilized for the transport of H2O2, thereby regulating various biological processes. Plants contain two PIP families, PIP1s and PIP2s. However, the specific functions and relationships between these subfamilies in plant growth and immunity remain largely unknown. In this study, we explore the synergistic role of AtPIP1;4 and AtPIP2;4 in regulating plant growth and disease resistance in Arabidopsis. We found that in plant cells treated with H2O2, AtPIP1;4 and AtPIP2;4 act as facilitators of H2O2 across membranes and the translocation of externally applied H2O2 from the apoplast to the cytoplasm. Moreover, AtPIP1;4 and AtPIP2;4 collaborate to transport bacterial pathogens and flg22-induced apoplastic H2O2 into the cytoplasm, leading to increased callose deposition and enhanced defense gene expression to strengthen immunity. These findings suggest that AtPIP1;4 and AtPIP2;4 cooperatively mediate H2O2 transport to regulate plant growth and immunity.

Abstract Maleic acid polymer scale inhibitor is a new domestic seawater desalination scale inhibitor. This study tested the acute oral toxicity, sub-chronic toxicity and genotoxicity of this new inhibitor. The LD50 obtained from the acute oral toxicity test was 6810 and 9260 mg/kg·BW for male and female rats, as well as 1/5, 1/10 and 1/20 LD50 were as the dose for sub-chronic toxicity test. Forward back biasing (FBB) technique is considered as a potential solution for aging compensation in silicon on insulator (SOI) MOSFET. However, traditional SOI devices under FBB would suffer from extra off-state leakage current $(I_{\mathrm{ off}})$ and undesirable static power consumption. In this work, we studied the hot carrier degradation and FBB compensation in $\pi $ -GAA- $\pi $ MOSFET. With the unique hybrid gate structure, the performance degradation is found to be less severe than pure $\pi $ gate device; and moreover it can be partially recovered by FBB without the sacrifice of $I_{\mathrm{ off}}$ . The presence of $\pi $ gates offer the back gate tunability that is not provided by pure GAA gate; while the GAA gate component can effectively prevent the impact of FBB from affecting the surface potential. Our findings in $\pi $ -GAA- $\pi $ hybrid gate MOSFETs would be beneficial for device reliability improvement.

Abstract Objective Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the second most common subtype of stroke, with high mortality and morbidity. At present, there are no effective 6-month prognostic markers, particularly for younger patients. The aim of this research was to construct a new valuable prognostic nomogram model incorporating haemoglobin levels for adult patients with ICH. Methods Patients aged between 18 and 50 presenting with intracerebral haemorrhage at the Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology between January 1st 2012 and December 31st 2018 were included in this retrospective study. Independent factors of prognosis were identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses, and a new nomogram model was constructed and validated. The clinical value of the nomogram model was subsequently explored utilizing decision curve analysis and clinical impact curves. Results In total, 565 patients were enrolled in this study, 117 (20.7%) of whom developed an unfavourable prognosis. Infratentorial lesion (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 3.708, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.490–9.227; P = 0.005) was the most significant unfavourable outcome. Age ([aOR] = 1.054; 95% CI, 1.014–1.096; P = 0.008), hematoma volume (aOR = 1.014, 95% CI, 1.002–1.027; P = 0.024), haemoglobin (aOR = 0.981, 95% CI, 0.969–0.993; P = 0.002), blood glucose (aOR = 1.135, 95% CI, 1.037–1.241; P = 0.005) and NIHSS (aOR = 1.105, 95% CI, 1.069–1.141; P

Transmission efficiency is a key characteristic of Hydro-mechanical Continuously Variable Transmission (HMCVT), which is related to the performance of heavy-duty tractors. Predicting the HMCVT transmission efficiency is beneficial for the real-time adjustment of transmission ratio during heavy-duty tractor operations, so as to obtain better performance. Aiming at the problems of accurate method, low accuracy, and high noise in the prediction of HMCVT transmission efficiency, this paper proposes a method based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Back Propagation (BP) neural networks to improve the quality of transmission efficiency prediction. Firstly, a simple theoretical model was established to obtain the influencing factors of transmission efficiency. Then, based on these factors, the transmission efficiency was tested on the bench under multiple conditions and the influence degree of each factor on transmission efficiency was divided using Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. Finally, the VMD method was used to denoise the test data, and a BP model, which was improved using the PSO method, was established to predict the processed data. The results showed that transmission efficiency of HMCVT is most affected by output speed, followed by power, and least by input speed. The VMD method can accurately extract effective signals and noise signals from the original data, and reconstruct signals, reducing the noise proportion. Using three conditions, the prediction regression accuracy of the PSO–BP model is 7.02%, 7.88%, and 9.26% higher than that of the BP model, respectively. In the three prediction experiments, the maximum differences in the MAE, the MAPE, and the RMSE of the PSO–BP model are 0.002, 0.463%, and 0.004, respectively, which are 0.006, 0.796%, and 0.003 lower than those of the BP model.

Water reducing agent as an important admixture. It is used to decrease the initial water content in cement paste, improving its fluidity. Polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent (PCE) is a high-performance type with advantages such as low dosage, high water reduction rate, environmental friendliness, and a simple synthesis process. In this study, the third monomer (TPEG-SAA-SHES) was synthesized by modifying isopentenol polyoxyethylene ether (TPEG) with sodium hydroxyethyl sulfonate (SHES). Subsequently, a modified ether polycarboxylic acid-based water reducing agent (PCE-S) was synthesized with TPEG and acrylic acid (AA). The experimental conditions for the synthesis of PCE-S were optimized through orthogonal tests. The synthesized PCE-S showed a certain degree of improvement in the initial net slurry flow compared to PCE, with a maximum enhancement of 19.64%. The adsorption increased by 18.25% when the TSS dosage was 5%. PCE-S enhances the hydration products of cement, increasing the compactness of the structure. The product is environmentally friendly, safe, and durable, effectively reducing the dosage of additives and helping to cut costs. It lays the foundation for the next industrialized mass production.

This study examined how silicon and zinc fertilizers affect the quality and aroma of Nanjing 46. We applied nine different fertilizer treatments, one involving soil topdressing at the top fourth leaf-age stage and one involving foliar spraying during the booting stage of the silicon and zinc fertilizers. We tested the effects of the nine treatments on grain quality and aroma. Silicon and zinc fertilizers significantly affected the brown rice rate, milled rice rate, head rice rate, amylose content, gel consistency, RVA characteristic value, taste value, and aroma but did not affect the chalky grain rate, chalkiness, protein content, rice appearance, hardness, stickiness, balance, peak time, or pasting temperature. Silicon fertilizer decreased the rate of brown rice and milled rice, whereas zinc fertilizer increased the rate of brown rice and milled rice. Silicon and zinc fertilizers improved the head rice rate. Compared to silicon fertilizer, the impact of zinc fertilizer on increasing the head rice rate was more pronounced. Although the effects of silicon and zinc fertilizers on the amylose content and RVA characteristic value varied depending on the treatment, their application could lower the amylose content, increase gel consistency, improve breakdown viscosity, decrease setback viscosity, increase aroma, and improve the taste value of rice.

Grain size in rice (Oryza sativa L.) shapes yield and quality, but the underlying molecular mechanism is not fully understood. We functionally characterized GRAIN NUMBER AND LARGE GRAIN SIZE 44 (GNL44), encoding a RING-type protein that localizes to the cytoplasm. The gnl44 mutant has fewer but enlarged grains compared to the wild type. GNL44 is mainly expressed in panicles and developing grains. Grain chalkiness was higher in the gnl44 mutant than in the wild type, short-chain amylopectin content was lower, middle-chain amylopectin content was higher, and appearance quality was worse. The amylose content and gel consistency of gnl44 were lower, and protein content was higher compared to the wild type. Rapid Visco Analyzer results showed that the texture of cooked gnl44 rice changed, and that the taste value of gnl44 was lower, making the eating and cooking quality of gnl44 worse than that of the wild type. We used gnl44, qgl3, and gs3 monogenic and two-gene near-isogenic lines to study the effects of different combinations of genes affecting grain size on rice quality-related traits. Our results revealed additive effects for these three genes on grain quality. These findings enrich the genetic resources available for rice breeders.

The multi-beam array stitching test system (MASTS) based on the Hartmann principle is employed to measure the aberrations in large-aperture optical systems. As each small-aperture and ideal parallel beam traverses the optical system, it is converged into a spot at the focal plane of the optical system. The centroid position of the spot contains the information about the wavefront slope of the sub-aperture at that specific location in the optical system. Scanning the optical system with this small-aperture beam across the entire aperture of the optical system, we can yield the aberration information to be tested. To mitigate pointing errors induced by scanning motion and accurately obtain the aberration signals of the optical system, nine beams are integrated into a 3 × 3 multi-beam array system, and their directions are aligned to be identical. However, achieving complete alignment in the same direction for all nine beams is a challenging task, resulting in errors due to their pointing differences within the array. This paper introduces an iterative algorithm designed to obtain high-precision multi-beam pointing errors and to reconstruct the wavefront of the optical system under test. This enables a more accurate measurement of wavefront aberrations in the optical system to be tested. Firstly, simulation models were implemented to validate the algorithm’s feasibility. Additionally, a scanning optical measurement system with a multi-beam array was developed in our lab, and the iterative algorithm was applied to process our experimental data. The results were then compared with interferometer data, demonstrating that our algorithm is feasible for MASTS to measure aberrations in large-aperture optical systems with high accuracy.

Abstract Previous studies in Arabidopsis reported that the PPR protein SOAR1 plays critical roles in plant response to salt stress. In this study, we reported that expression of the Arabidopsis SOAR1 (AtSOAR1) in rice significantly enhanced salt tolerance at seedling growth stage and promoted grain productivity under salt stress without affecting plant productivity under non-stressful conditions. The transgenic rice lines expressing AtSOAR1 exhibited increased ABA sensitivity in ABA-induced inhibition of seedling growth, and showed altered transcription and splicing of numerous genes associated with salt stress, which may explain salt tolerance of the transgenic plants. Further, we overexpressed the homologous gene of SOAR1 in rice, OsSOAR1, and showed that transgenic plants overexpressing OsSOAR1 enhanced salt tolerance at seedling growth stage. Five salt- and other abiotic stress-induced SOAR1-like PPRs were also identified. These data showed that the SOAR1-like PPR proteins are positively involved in plant response to salt stress and may be used for crop improvement in rice under salinity conditions through transgenic manipulation.

Abstract Background Several studies have demonstrated neutralizing antibodies to be highly effective against alphavirus infection in animal models, both prophylactically and remedially. In most studies, neutralizing antibodies have been evaluated for their ability to block viral entry in vitro but recent evidence suggests that antibody inhibition through other mechanisms, including viral budding/release, significantly contributes to viral control in vivo for a number of alphaviruses. Results We describe a BSL-2, cell-based, high-throughput screening system that specifically screens for inhibitors of alphavirus egress using chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and Mayaro virus (MAYV) novel replication competent nano-luciferase (nLuc) reporter viruses. Screening of both polyclonal sera and memory B-cell clones from CHIKV immune individuals using the optimized assay detected several antibodies that display potent anti-budding activity. Conclusions We describe an “anti-budding assay” to specifically screen for inhibitors of viral egress using novel CHIKV and MAYV nLuc reporter viruses. This BSL-2 safe, high-throughput system can be utilized to explore neutralizing “anti-budding” antibodies to yield potent candidates for CHIKV and MAYV therapeutics and prophylaxis.

A probabilistic fracture mechanics (PFM) analysis code, PASCAL, has been developed by Japan Atomic Energy Agency for failure probability and failure frequency evaluation of reactor pressure vessels (RPVs) considering neutron irradiation embrittlement and thermal transients. To strengthen the applicability of PASCAL, considerable efforts on verifications of the PASCAL code have been made in the past years. As a part of the verification activities, a working group consisted of different organizations from industry, universities and institutes, was established in Japan. In the early phase, the working group focused on verifying the PFM analysis functions for RPVs in pressurized water reactors (PWRs) subjected to pressurized thermal shock (PTS) events. Recently, the PASCAL code has been improved in order to run PFM analyses for both RPVs in PWRs and boiling water reactors (BWRs) subjected to a broad range of transients. Simultaneously, the working group initiated a verification plan for the improved PASCAL through independent PFM analyses by different organizations. Concretely, verification analyses for a PWR-type RPV subjected to PTS transients and a BWR-type RPV subjected to a low-temperature over pressure (LTOP) transient were performed using PASCAL. This paper summarizes those verification activities, including the verification plan, analysis conditions and results. Through the verification studies, it is confirmed that the mathematical models and probabilistic calculation algorithms incorporated in PASCAL work appropriately and the applicability of PASCAL has been improved.

Background Tumor-associated macrophages are mainly polarized into the M2 phenotype, remodeling the tumor microenvironment and promoting tumor progression by secreting various cytokines.Methods Tissue microarray consisting of prostate cancer (PCa), normal prostate, and lymph node metastatic samples from patients with PCa were stained with Yin Yang 1 (YY1) and CD163. Transgenic mice overexpressing YY1 were constructed to observe PCa tumorigenesis. Furthermore, in vivo and in vitro experiments, including CRISPR-Cas9 knock-out, RNA sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) sequencing, and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) assays, were performed to investigate the role and mechanism of YY1 in M2 macrophages and PCa tumor microenvironment.Results YY1 was highly expressed in M2 macrophages in PCa and was associated with poorer clinical outcomes. The proportion of tumor-infiltrated M2 macrophages increased in transgenic mice overexpressing YY1. In contrast, the proliferation and activity of anti-tumoral T lymphocytes were suppressed. Treatment targeting YY1 on M2 macrophages using an M2-targeting peptide-modified liposome carrier suppressed PCa cell lung metastasis and generated synergistic anti-tumoral effects with PD-1 blockade. IL-4/STAT6 pathway regulated YY1, and YY1 increased the macrophage-induced PCa progression by upregulating IL-6. Furthermore, by conducting H3K27ac-ChIP-seq in M2 macrophages and THP-1, we found that thousands of enhancers were gained during M2 macrophage polarization, and these M2-specific enhancers were enriched in YY1 ChIP-seq signals. In addition, an M2-specific IL-6 enhancer upregulated IL-6 expression through long-range chromatin interaction with IL-6 promoter in M2 macrophages. During M2 macrophage polarization, YY1 formed an LLPS, in which p300, p65, and CEBPB acted as transcriptional cofactors.Conclusions Phase separation of the YY1 complex in M2 macrophages upregulated IL-6 by promoting IL-6 enhancer–promoter interactions, thereby increasing PCa progression.

Embedded devices are pervasive nowadays with the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT). This brings significant security issues that make the security analysis of embedded devices important. This paper presents a survey on the security analysis research of embedded devices. First, we analyze the embedded device types and their operating systems. Then, we describe a major dynamic security analysis method for an embedded device, i.e., simulating the firmware of the embedded device and performing fuzzing on the web interface provided by the firmware. Third, we discuss some other issues in embedded security analysis, such as analyzing the attack surface, applying static analysis, and performing large-scale analysis. Based on these analyses, we finally conclude three challenges in the current research and present our insights for future research directions.

The deep-sea lander is an important equipment for in-situ detection and monitoring. It is of great significance to understand the benthic boundary layer’s physical, chemical, and ecological environment. A 6000-meter double decelerating lander was created to meet the deployment requirements of underwater detection and monitoring, allowing for long-term in-situ monitoring of several benthic boundary layer components. Protection of the installed ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) is required due to the lander’s and OBS’s different impact resistances. The double decelerating unit enables the OBS to avoid colliding with the seabed when the lander lands and then collides with the seabed at a slow speed rather than the speed at which the lander falls, which is intended to safeguard OBS from damage. To ensure a safe deployment, the lander’s static analysis and simulation were performed using ANSYS, and the motion characteristics of the application process were derived. Numerous data have been obtained after the lander’s successful application in the South China Sea. The lander provides an investigation approach for marine science and geochemistry, complementing a technical approach to marine environmental investigations.

The gravity gradient tensor, which has a higher resolution than gravity, is used in a variety of fields, including the discovery of energy resources, auxiliary navigation, and national defense building. Our team has achieved significant advancements in various essential technologies, such as high-resolution accelerometers, and has constructed China’s first self-controllable shipboard gravity gradient measurement system. In the laboratory, accuracy is determined using the mass gravitation technique, static test accuracy of Tuv and Txy is 7.22 E and 3.58 E, while dynamic test accuracy of Tuv and Txy is 9.09 E and 4.16 E. For outfield shipborne test measurement, the internal accord accuracy of Tuv and Txy of the repeat line is 28.2E@750m and 28.8E@750m, and that of the intersection point is 28.2E@750m and 26.8E@750m. The performance of the system is completely validated by dynamic and static testing, laying the groundwork for the practical implementation of gravity gradient technology.

Currently, real-time semantic segmentation networks are intensely demanded in resource-constrained practical applications, such as mobile devices, drones and autonomous driving systems. However, most of the current popular approaches have difficulty in obtaining sufficiently large receptive fields, and they sacrifice low-level details to improve inference speed, leading to decreased segmentation accuracy. In this paper, a lightweight and efficient multi-level feature adaptive fusion network (MFAFNet) is proposed to address this problem. Specifically, we design a separable asymmetric reinforcement non-bottleneck module, which designs a parallel structure to extract short- and long-range contextual information and use optimized convolution to increase the inference speed. In addition, we propose a feature adaptive fusion module that effectively balances feature maps with multiple resolutions to reduce the loss of spatial detail information. We evaluate our model with state-of-the-art real-time semantic segmentation methods on the Cityscapes and Camvid datasets. Without any pre-training and post-processing, our MFAFNet has only 1.27 M parameters, while achieving accuracies of 75.9% and 69.9% mean IoU with speeds of 60.1 and 82.6 FPS on the Cityscapes and Camvid test sets, respectively. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an excellent trade-off between inference speed, segmentation accuracy and model size.

The Philippine Sea is the largest marginal sea in the Western Pacific Ocean and is divided into two parts by the Kyushu-Palau Ridge (KPR). The western part is the West Philippine Basin, and the eastern part consists of the Shikoku and Parece Vela basins. Based on surveyed data of massive high-resolution multibeam bathymetric data and sub-bottom profiles data collected from the southern section of the KPR from 2018 to 2021, this paper analyzes the topographic and geomorphological features, shallow sedimentary features, and tectonic genesis of the southern section of the KPR, obtaining the following conclusions. The southern section of the KPR has complex and rugged topography, with positive and negative topography alternatingly distributed and a maximum height difference of 4086 m. The slope of seamounts in this section generally exceeds 10° and is up to a maximum of 59°. All these contribute noticeably discontinuous topography. There are primarily nine geomorphological types in the southern section of the KPR, including seamounts, ridges, and intermontane valleys, etc. Among them, seven independent seamount groups are divided by five large troughs, forming an overall geomorphological pattern of seven abyssal seamount groups and five troughs. This reflects the geomorphological features of a deep oceanic ridge. Intramontane basins and intermontane valleys in the southern section of the KPR are covered by evenly thick sediments. In contrast, sediments in ridges and seamounts in this section are thin or even missing, with slumps developing locally. Therefore, the sediments are discontinuous and unevenly developed. The KPR formed under the control of tectonism such as volcanic activities and plate movements. In addition, exogenic forces such as underflow scouring and sedimentation also play a certain role in shaping seafloor landforms in the KPR.©2021 China Geology Editorial Office.

Isotopically light oxygen in mantle derived magmas is generally attributed to the occurrence of deeply subducted crustal material in the mantle. New analyses of olivine in kimberlites worldwide suggest that assimilation of lithospheric mantle during magma ascent is the source of isotopically light oxygen in these, and, potentially other continental magmas.

Abstract The incidence and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are gradually increasing during the past years. Recently, some studies have reported that malic enzyme (ME) plays an important role in cancer development, while the involvement of ME2 in HCC remains still undetermined. Here, we demonstrated that ME2 played an oncogenic role in HCC. ME2 was overexpressed in HCC tissues. TCGA database showed that the ME2 transcript level was inversely associated with the survival of HCC patients. Loss‐of‐function and gain‐of‐function assays showed that ME2 promoted HCC cell growth and migration. Furthermore, the xenografted tumorigenesis of MHCC97H cells was retarded by ME2 knockdown. ME2 silencing also suppressed the cell cycle process and induced apoptosis. Mechanistically, ME2 potentiated triglyceride synthesis, inhibition of which suppressed the proliferation and migration. We propose that ME2 promotes HCC progression by increasing triglyceride production.

Abstract Background Stroke has an acute onset and a high mortality rate, making it one of the most fatal diseases worldwide. Its underlying biology and treatments have been widely studied both in the “Western” biomedicine and the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). However, these two approaches are often studied and reported in insolation, both in the literature and associated databases. Results To aid research in finding effective prevention methods and treatments, we integrated knowledge from the literature and a number of databases (e.g. CID, TCMID, ETCM). We employed a suite of biomedical text mining (i.e. named-entity) approaches to identify mentions of genes, diseases, drugs, chemicals, symptoms, Chinese herbs and patent medicines, etc. in a large set of stroke papers from both biomedical and TCM domains. Then, using a combination of a rule-based approach with a pre-trained BioBERT model, we extracted and classified links and relationships among stroke-related entities as expressed in the literature. We construct StrokeKG, a knowledge graph includes almost 46 k nodes of nine types, and 157 k links of 30 types, connecting diseases, genes, symptoms, drugs, pathways, herbs, chemical, ingredients and patent medicine. Conclusions Our Stroke-KG can provide practical and reliable stroke-related knowledge to help with stroke-related research like exploring new directions for stroke research and ideas for drug repurposing and discovery. The involvement of carboxylesterases (CarEs) in resistance to chlorpyrifos has been confirmed by the synergism analysis in Nilaparvata lugens. However, the function of specific CarE gene in chlorpyrifos resistance and the transcriptional regulatory mechanism are obscure. Herein, the expression patterns of 29 CarE genes in the susceptible and chlorpyrifos-resistant strains were analyzed. Among them, CarE3, CarE17 and CarE19 were overexpressed in the resistant strain, and knockdown of either CarE gene by RNA interference significantly increased the susceptibility to chlorpyrifos. Remarkably, knockdown of CarE17 reduced the enzymatic activity of CarE by 88.63 % and showed a much greater effect on increasing chlorpyrifos toxicity than silencing other two CarE genes. Overexpression of CarE17 in Drosophila melanogaster decreased the toxicity of chlorpyrifos to transgenic fruit flies. Furthermore, the region between − 205 to + 256 of CarE17 promoter sequence showed the highest promoter activity, and 16 transcription factors (TFs) were predicted from this region. Among these TFs, Lim1β and C15 were overexpressed in the resistant strain. Knockdown of either TF resulted in reduced CarE17 expression and a decrease in resistance of N. lugens to chlorpyrifos. These results indicate that the constitutive overexpression of Lim1β and C15 induces CarE17 expression thus conferring chlorpyrifos resistance in N. lugens.

Ethylene Insensitive 2 (EIN2) is an integral membrane protein that regulates ethylene signaling towards plant development and immunity by release of its carboxy-terminal functional portion (EIN2C) into the nucleus. The present study elucidates that the nuclear trafficking of EIN2C is induced by importin β1, which triggers the phloem-based defense (PBD) against aphid infestations in Arabidopsis. In plants, IMPβ1 interacts with EIN2C to facilitate EIN2C trafficking into the nucleus, either by ethylene treatment or by green peach aphid infestation, to confer EIN2-dependent PBD responses, which, in turn, impede the phloem-feeding activity and massive infestation by the aphid. In Arabidopsis, moreover, constitutively expressed EIN2C can complement the impβ1 mutant regarding EIN2C localization to the plant nucleus and the subsequent PBD development in the concomitant presence of IMPβ1 and ethylene. As a result, the phloem-feeding activity and massive infestation by green peach aphid were highly inhibited, indicating the potential value of EIN2C in protecting plants from insect attacks.

In this paper, the copolymerization of poly (p-dioxanone) (PPDO) and polylactide (PLA) was carried out via a Diels–Alder reaction to obtain a new biodegradable copolymer with self-healing abilities. By altering the molecular weights of PPDO and PLA precursors, a series of copolymers (DA2300, DA3200, DA4700 and DA5500) with various chain segment lengths were created. After verifying the structure and molecular weight by 1H NMR, FT-IR and GPC, the crystallization behavior, self-healing properties and degradation properties of the copolymers were evaluated by DSC, POM, XRD, rheological measurements and enzymatic degradation. The results show that copolymerization based on the DA reaction effectively avoids the phase separation of PPDO and PLA. Among the products, DA4700 showed a better crystallization performance than PLA, and the half-crystallization time was 2.8 min. Compared to PPDO, the heat resistance of the DA copolymers was improved and the Tm increased from 93 °C to 103 °C. Significantly, the rheological data also confirmed that the copolymer was self-healing and showed obvious self-repairing properties after simple tempering. In addition, an enzyme degradation experiment showed that the DA copolymer can be degraded by a certain amount, with the degradation rate lying between those of PPDO and PLA.

Smartphone apps are closely integrated with our daily lives, and mobile malware has brought about serious security issues. However, the features used in existing traffic-based malware detection techniques have a large amount of redundancy and useless information, wasting the computational resources of training detection models. To overcome this drawback, we propose a feature selection method; the core of the method involves choosing selected features based on high irrelevance, thereby removing redundant features. Furthermore, artificial intelligence has implemented malware detection and achieved outstanding detection ability. However, almost all malware detection models in deep learning include pooling operations, which lead to the loss of some local information and affect the robustness of the model. We also propose designing a malware detection model for malicious traffic identification based on a capsule network. The main difference between the capsule network and the neural network is that the neuron outputs a scalar, while the capsule outputs a vector. It is more conducive to saving local information. To verify the effectiveness of our method, we verify it from three aspects. First, we use four popular machine learning algorithms to prove the effectiveness of the proposed feature selection method. Second, we compare the capsule network with the convolutional neural network to prove the superiority of the capsule network. Finally, we compare our proposed method with another state-of-the-art malware detection technique; our accuracy and recall increased by 9.71% and 20.18%, respectively.

Obtaining a three-dimensional (3D) density distribution within a reasonable time is one of the most critical problems in gravity exploration. In this paper, we present an efficient 3D forward modeling and inversion method for gravity data. In forward modeling, the 3D model is discretized into multiple horizontal layers, with the gravity field at a point on the surface being the sum of the gravity fields from all layers. To calculate the gravity field from each horizontal layer, we use the fast Fourier transform (FFT) method and the Block Toeplitz with Toeplitz Blocks (BTTB) matrix, which dramatically reduces both the computation time and storage requirement. In the inversion, the observed gravity data are separated into multiple gravity components of different depths using the cutting separation method. An iterative method is used to adjust the model to fit the above gravity component for each cutting radius. The initial model is constructed from the transformation of gravity components. These methods were applied to both synthetic data and field data. The numerical simulation validated the proposed methods, and the inversion results of field data were consistent with information obtained from well logging. The computational time and memory usage were also reasonable.

Motor imagery brain–computer interface (MI-based BCIs) have demonstrated great potential in various applications. However, to well generalize classifiers to new subjects, a time-consuming calibration process is necessary due to high inter-subject variabilities of EEG signals. This process is costly and tedious, hindering the further expansion of MI-based BCIs outside of the laboratory. To reduce the calibration time of MI-based BCIs, we propose a novel domain adaptation framework that adapts multiple source subjects’ labeled data to the unseen trials of target subjects. Firstly, we train one Subject Separation Network(SSN) for each of the source subjects in the dataset. Based on adversarial domain adaptation, a shared encoder is constructed to learn similar representations for both domains. Secondly, to model the factors that cause subject variabilities and eliminate the correlated noise existing in common feature space, private feature spaces orthogonal to the shared counterpart are learned for each subject. We use a shared decoder to validate that the model is actually learning from task-relevant neurophysiological information. At last, an ensemble classifier is built by the integration of the SSNs using the information extracted from each subject’s task-relevant characteristics. To quantify the efficacy of the framework, we analyze the accuracy–calibration cost trade-off in MI-based BCIs, and theoretically guarantee a generalization bound on the target error. Visualizations of the transformed features illustrate the effectiveness of domain adaptation. The experimental results on the BCI Competition IV-IIa dataset prove the effectiveness of the proposed framework compared with multiple classification methods. We infer from our results that users could learn to control MI-based BCIs without a heavy calibration process. Our study further shows how to design and train Neural Networks to decode task-related information from different subjects and highlights the potential of deep learning methods for inter-subject EEG decoding.

In the apparel manufacturing, the fabric is the single largest element in the cost of the garment. Therefore, effectual fabric consumption causes a reduction in cost and exertions. The purpose of this research is to study the effects of fabric width on the efficiency of marker (cutting) plans. Fabric consumption is in four types for human body shapes, that is, triangle, oval, square, and circle, in both genders to control the fabric utilization. Two clothing styles, fitted trousers and fitted shirts, are manufactured in an apparel manufacturing industry. The marker plans produced through Garment Gerber Technology software are accomplished in 36 different fabric widths (independent variables).
