Abstract The coastline reflects coastal environmental processes and dynamic changes, serving as a fundamental parameter for coast. Although several global coastline datasets have been developed, they mainly focus on coastal morphology, the typology of coastlines are still lacking. We produced a Global CoastLine Dataset (GCL_FCS30) with a detailed classification system. The coastline extraction employed a combined algorithm incorporating the Modified Normalized Difference Water Index and an adaptive threshold segmentation method. The coastline classification was performed a hybrid transect classifier that integrates a random forest algorithm with stable training samples derived from multi-source geophysical data. The GCL_FCS30 offers significant advantages in capturing artificial coastlines, reflecting strong alignment with location validation data. The GCL_FCS30 classification was found to achieve an overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient over 85% and 0.75. Each coastline category accurately covered the majority of the area represented in third-party data and exhibited a high degree of spatial relevance. Therefore, the GCL_FCS30 is the first global coastline category dataset covering the high latitudes in a continuous and smooth line vector format.

Melanoma is highly aggressive, with brain metastasis being a significant contributor to poor outcomes. Immunotherapy has emerged as a crucial treatment modality for melanoma, particularly for addressing brain metastases. This review explores recent developments in immunotherapy for patients with melanoma brain metastasis, with such treatments encompassing immune checkpoint inhibitors and various immunotherapy combination approaches, such as dual immunotherapy, immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy, immunotherapy combined with targeted drugs, and immunotherapy combined with radiotherapy. This article also discusses existing treatment obstacles and potential future avenues for research and clinical practice.

Abstract In 2004, the equine-origin H3N8 canine influenza virus (CIV) first caused an outbreak with lethal cases in racing greyhounds in Florida, USA, and then spread to domestic dogs nationwide. Although transmission of this canine virus to humans has not been reported, it is important to evaluate its zoonotic potential because of the high contact opportunities between companion dogs and humans. To gain insight into the interspecies transmissibility of H3N8 CIV, we tested its adaptability to human respiratory A549 cells through successive passages. We found that CIV acquired high growth properties in these cells mainly through mutations in surface glycoproteins, such as hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). Our reverse genetics approach revealed that HA2-K82E, HA2-R163K, and NA-S18L mutations were responsible for the increased growth of CIV in human cells. Molecular analyses revealed that both HA2 mutations altered the optimum pH for HA membrane fusion activity and that the NA mutation changed the HA-NA functional balance. These findings suggest that H3N8 CIV could evolve into a human pathogen with pandemic potential through a small number of mutations, thereby posing a threat to public health in the future.

Background: Research has shown that DPN affects 50 % of individuals with diabetes and, in severe cases, can lead to amputation or death. Interventions led by doctors for DPN have demonstrated limited effectiveness in delaying its onset and progression. Nevertheless, there is an increasing recognition of the significance of nurse-led screening and health education in the early detection and slowing down of DPN. Method: The present study conducted a retrospective analysis of medical records of 10,191 diabetic patients from 2019 to 2023, who also regularly attended outpatient clinics. Patients with incomplete medical data, transfers, critical conditions or death, existing foot ulcers or amputations, bedridden or uncooperative individuals (5,470 individuals) were excluded, and a total of 4,721 individuals were selected for analysis. The screening and intervention components of the FSCHE program were all led by nurses. A total of 2022 participants received foot screening and customized health education (FSCHE) program, while 2699 participants recevied regular care. The primary outcome is on determining the prevalence rate of DPN among all the included diabetic patients. The data was collected through experimental tests and nurse-led foot screening. Prevalence rates were reported as the number of cases per 1000 individuals. Odds Ratios were calculated to approximate Risk Ratios to determine the effectiveness of the FSCHE program. Results: The prevalence of DPN in diabetic patients who received the FSCHE program decreased from 557 cases per 1000 individuals in 2019 to 199 cases per 1000 individuals in 2023. The hospitalization duration decreased from 11.2 days to 7.59 days. The risk of DPN in diabetic patients participating in the FSCHE program was 0.741 times higher than that of regular diabetes care (RR [95 % CI]: 0.741 [0.654, 0.840], p < 0.001). The DPN-related risk factors showed promising control results as well. Conclusions: In this observational study conducted among Chinese patients with diabetes, it was found that the nurse-led FSCHE program effectively manages DPN and its associated risk factors. These results highlight the importance of employing objective screening tools to detect DPN at an early stage, as well as the significance of nurse-led interventions in promoting healthy behaviors and preventing the development and progression of DPN.

This study investigates the synthesis of SMS-Ti-Mn (SMS-Ti-Mn stands for spent mushroom substrate activated carbon-Ti-Mn) nanocomposites and their application in removing the heavy metal antimony from water. In the process of antimony mining and smelting, the concentration of antimony in the waste residue can still reach as high as 80.5 mg/L. In addition, the soil in the electronic waste dismantling area is severely contaminated with antimony. In short, antimony enters the environment in various ways from mining, smelting, and manufacturing to the final waste process and continuously migrates in different environmental media, increasing the environmental exposure risk of antimony pollution. Single-factor experiments and response surface methodology were employed to determine the optimal conditions, including the adsorption time, pH, and solid–liquid ratio. Material characterization was performed to understand the role of nano-metals, and adsorption kinetics were analyzed using the quasi-first-order kinetic model. The research results revealed that the optimal conditions for antimony removal were an adsorption time of 40 min, a pH of 4, and a solid–liquid ratio of 2:1 (mg/mL). Under these conditions, the nanocomposites showed an adsorption capacity of 10.502 mg/g, which was 5.8 times higher than that of iron coagulants, 11 times higher than that of manganese-modified activated carbon, and 1.7 times higher than that of iron–manganese sludge adsorbents. Characterization revealed enhanced functional groups (carbonyl, Ti=O, Mn=O), contributing to improved adsorption. Kinetic analysis indicated physical adsorption as the dominant mechanism, and the regression model accurately predicted the adsorption capacity. SMS-Ti-Mn nanocomposites offer a promising strategy for treating antimony-contaminated water, with strong potential for practical applications in water treatment. They can decompose naturally after use, reduce secondary pollution, and promote ecological balance. Secondly, agricultural waste treated with heavy metal removal can be used as a fertilizer and soil amendment to improve soil quality and promote sustainable agricultural development.

BackgroundMigraine risk factors are associated with migraine susceptibility, yet their mechanisms are unclear. Evidence suggests a role for inflammatory proteins and immune cells in migraine pathogenesis. This study aimed to examine the inflammo-immune association between eight migraine risk factors and the disorder.MethodsThis study utilized inverse variance weighted (IVW) method and colocalization analysis to explore potential causal relationships between eight migraine risk factors, migraine, 731 immune cells, and 91 circulating inflammatory proteins. Mediation Mendelian randomization (MR) was further used to confirm the mediating role of circulating inflammatory proteins and immune cells between the eight migraine risk factors and migraine.ResultsMigraine risk factors are linked to 276 immune cells and inflammatory proteins, with cigarettes smoked per day strongly co-localized with CD33-HLA DR+ cells. Despite no co-localization, 23 immune cells/inflammatory proteins relate to migraine. Depression, all anxiety disorders, and sleep apnea are correlated with migraine, and all anxiety disorders are supported by strong co-localization evidence. However, the mediating effect of inflammatory proteins and immune cells between eight migraine risk factors and migraine has not been confirmed.ConclusionWe elucidate the potential causal relationships between eight migraine risk factors, migraine, immune cells, and inflammatory proteins, enhancing our understanding of the molecular etiology of migraine pathogenesis from an inflammatory-immune perspective.

Abstract The study aimed to investigate the association between long-term sedentary behavior (LTSB) and depressive symptoms within a representative sample of the U.S. adult population. Data from NHANES 2017–2018 were used, encompassing information on demographics, depressive symptoms, physical activity (PA), and LTSB. Depressive symptoms were identified using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), with “depressive symptoms” defined as a PHQ-9 score of ≥ 5, and “moderate to severe depressive symptoms (MSDS)” defined as a PHQ-9 score of ≥ 10. PA and LTSB were assessed through the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire, where LTSB was interpreted as sedentary time ≥ 600 min. Restricted Cubic Spline (RCS) curves were utilized to observe potential nonlinear relationships. Binary Logistic regressions were conducted to analyze the associations. A total of 4728 participants (mean age 51.00 ± 17.49 years, 2310 males and 2418 females) were included in the study. Among these individuals, 1194 (25.25%) displayed depressive symptoms, with 417 (8.82%) exhibiting MSDS. RCS curves displayed increased risk of depressive symptoms with prolonged sedentary duration. Logistic regression models indicated significant associations between LTSB and depressive symptoms (OR 1.398, 95% CI 1.098–1.780), and LTSB and MSDS (OR 1.567, 95% CI 1.125–2.183), after adjusting for covariates. These findings suggest that LTSB may act as a potential risk factor for both depressive symptoms and MSDS in the studied population.

Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been associated with lipid-lowering drugs in observational studies. Drug-target Mendelian randomization (MR) was utilized in this study to examine the causal relationship between lipid-lowering drugs and incidence of IBD, aiming to identify new preventive uses for the drugs. Methods We identified instrumental variables for three classes of lipid-lowering drugs: HMGCR inhibitors, PCSK9 inhibitors, and NPC1L1 inhibitors, using data from the Global Lipids Genetics Consortium. Summary statistics of IBD were obtained from UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Genetics. The summary-data-based MR (SMR) and the inverse-variance weighted (IVW) MR were used for analysis. Sensitivity analyses were performed by conventional MR methods. Results The SMR analysis showed no significant genetic association between increased gene expression of HMGCR, PCSK9, and NPC1L1 and IBD, Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). According to IVW-MR analysis, increased HMGCR expression is associated with a reduced risk of IBD (OR = 0.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.59–0.90, P = 0.003) and CD (OR = 0.75, 95% CI 0.57–0.97, P = 0.03), but not with UC. Additionally, increased NPC1L1 gene expression was associated with elevated risk of IBD (OR = 1.60, 95% CI 1.07–2.40, P = 0.023), but not with CD and UC. However, no significant causal relationships were found between PCSK9 gene expression and IBD, CD, and UC. The sensitivity analysis demonstrated no evidence of heterogeneity or pleiotropy among the reported results. Conclusions The heightened expression of genetic variations in HMGCR inhibitor targets could potentially reduce the risk of IBD and CD, while genetic variation in the expression of NPC1L1 targets was positively associated with IBD.

The primary objective of this research is to investigate the structure and tribological properties of NiCr–Mo–Ag–O/Mo–V–Ag–O bilayer films in a wide temperature range (RT-1000 °C). The bilayer films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technology, so as to provide the theoretical basis and experimental guidance for the study of the synergistic lubricating effect of Mo and V bimetallic lubricating oxides. The NiCr–Mo–Ag–O composite target was fabricated by the hot-press sintering technique. Subsequently, a NiCr–Mo–Ag–O/Mo–V–Ag–O bilayer film was deposited on Inconel 718 by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The tribological properties of the film were evaluated by HRT-1000 high-temperature ball-on-disc configuration at RT-1000 °C. The obtained results reveal that the NiCr–Mo–Ag–O target is marked by a compact structure and homogeneous composition. Furthermore, the composite film exhibits a smooth surface and dense structure, comprised of polycrystalline and amorphous phases. The measured hardness and elastic modulus of the film approximated 4.9 GPa and 153.5 GPa, respectively. Additionally, the lowest friction coefficient of the film is about 0.28 at 800 °C. Upon reaching this temperature, the cooperative lubrication resulting from NiMoO4, Ag2Mo2O7, and AgVO3 contributed effectively towards reducing the film's friction coefficient.

Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported to be associated with hepatobiliary diseases. Previous observational and Mendelian randomization (MR) studies have suggested a causal association between IBD and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). However, it is unclear whether IBD has a causal association with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC): another autoimmune liver disease. We obtained genome-wide association study (GWAS) statistics from published GWASs for PBC, UC, and CD. We screened qualified instrumental variables (IVs) based on the three major assumptions of MR. To determine the causal relationships between UC or CD and PBC, two-sample MR analyses were performed using inverse variance-weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, and weighted median (WM) methods, and sensitivity analyses were conducted to validate the robustness of the results. We also conducted reverse MR analysis to reveal the causal association between PBC and UC or CD. UC was associated with a higher risk of PBC (OR 1.35, 95% CI 1.05–1.73, P = 0.02) in the IVW method, and CD was associated with an increased risk of PBC (OR 1.18, 95% CI 1.03–1.36, P = 0.02) in IVW. The weighted median and MR-Egger regression of both diseases showed a consistent direction but were not statistically significant. Results of the reverse MR analysis did not suggest genetic susceptibility that PBC was associated with an increased risk of UC (OR 1.05, 95% CI 0.95–1.17, P = 0.34) or CD (OR 1.1, 95% CI 0.99–1.20, P = 0.06). The present study revealed that IBD subtypes could increase the incidence of PBC, but in turn, PBC did not increase the incidence of IBD subtypes. Understanding that IBD and PBC constitute mutual risk factors can help with the clinical management of both diseases.

Casein micelle has a structure of outer hydrophilicity and inner hydrophobicity, its typical digestion characteristic is gastric coagulation. Based on calcium content as the key factor to control this process, high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) was firstly used to modify the micelle structure by mediating the tight connection between casein molecules themselves and with colloidal calcium, then the quercetin-loaded delivery systems were prepared. And in order to investigate the effect of exogenous calcium, calcium chloride was added for digestion. The results indicated that HHP broke the limitation of casein micelles as delivery carriers for hydrophobic components and increased the EE from 51.18 ± 3.07 % to 76.17 ± 3.41 %. During gastric digestion, higher pressure and exogenous calcium synergistically increased the clotting ability and inhibited the release of quercetin. In the small intestine, curds decomposed more slowly under higher pressure and calcium concentration, so the degradation of quercetin was effectively inhibited.

Abstract Consciousness arises from the spatiotemporal neural dynamics, however, its relationship with neural flexibility and regional specialization remains elusive. We identified a consciousness-related signature marked by shifting spontaneous fluctuations along a unimodal-transmodal cortical axis. This simple signature is sensitive to altered states of consciousness in single individuals, exhibiting abnormal elevation under psychedelics and in psychosis. The hierarchical dynamic reflects brain state changes in global integration and connectome diversity under task-free conditions. Quasi-periodic pattern detection revealed that hierarchical heterogeneity as spatiotemporally propagating waves linking to arousal. A similar pattern can be observed in macaque electrocorticography. Furthermore, the spatial distribution of principal cortical gradient preferentially recapitulated the genetic transcription levels of the histaminergic system and that of the functional connectome mapping of the tuberomammillary nucleus, which promotes wakefulness. Combining behavioral, neuroimaging, electrophysiological, and transcriptomic evidence, we propose that global consciousness is supported by efficient hierarchical processing constrained along a low-dimensional macroscale gradient.

Abstract Background Epidemiological evidence relating sleep disorders to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) has been obscure. The present study is sought to examine the association between sleep traits and ESRD. Methods For this analysis, we selected genetic instruments for sleep traits from published genome-wide association studies (GWAS). As instrumental variables, independent genetic variations linked with seven sleep-related features (sleep duration, getting up in the morning, daytime napping, chronotype of morning/evening person, sleeplessness/insomnia, non-snoring, and daytime dozing) were chosen. A two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) study was conducted to assess the causal relationship between sleep traits and ESRD (N = 33,061). The reverse MR analysis subsequently determined the causal relationship between ESRD and sleep traits. The causal effects were estimated using inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger, weighted median. To conduct sensitivity studies, Cochran’s Q test, MR-Egger intercept test, MR-PRESSO, leave-one-out analysis, and funnel plot were used. To study the potential mediators, multivariable mendelian randomization analyses were undertaken further. Results Genetically predicted sleeplessness/ insomnia (OR = 6.11, 95%CI 1.00-37.3, P = 0.049, FDR = 0.105), getting up in the morning easily(OR = 0.23, 95%CI 0.063–0.85; P = 0.0278, FDR = 0.105), non-snoring (OR = 4.76E-02, 95%CI 2.29E-03-0.985, P = 0.0488, FDR = 0.105) was suggestively associated with the risk of ESRD. However, we found no evidence favoring a causal association between other sleep traits and ESRD through the IVW method. Conclusion The present TSMR found no strong evidence of a bidirectional causal association between genetically predicted sleep traits and ESRD.

The crystallization of lactose usually causes the structural collapse and core material escape of flavor encapsulations. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different grafting degrees of WPI-inulin Maillard reaction products on the lactose crystallization and the subsequent release behaviors. Ethyl acetate was chosen as the model volatile flavor and the encapsulations were prepared by freeze-drying. The results found that the encapsulation efficiency was significantly increased from 30% to over 80% by using MRPs as wall materials. Those microparticles showed the greater flavor retention and lower moisture adsorption. In addition, the encapsulations produced by the proper Maillard reaction times (e.g., 48 h and 72 h) could effectively delay the lactose crystallization and thus improve the structural stability of the matrix. This innovation finding aims to use the Maillard reaction to control the crystallization behaviors and enhance the usefulness of high-lactose containing products in encapsulation systems.

The photocatalytic degradation of TiO2 as the best method to solve the pollution of dye wastewater has been widely studied. However, the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of TiO2 needs to be further improved even though much effort has been paid, especially under visible (Vis) light. TiO2/MXene composites were synthesized by low temperature hydrothermal reaction using TiO2 (P25) and MXene nanosheets as raw materials for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye. The removal rate of MB was effectively improved by the combination of TiO2 with MXene materials. The best removal efficiency was achieved at a mass ratio (4:1) of TiO2 to MXene. The removal rate of TiO2/MXene composite materials for MB under ultraviolet light was 96.44%, which was 29.83% higher than that of pure TiO2. Under Vis light, the removal rate of MB was 8.26 times higher (40.19%) than that of pure TiO2. In addition, the degradation process of MB dye was significantly promoted under both external and visible light. Therefore, the utilization efficiency of Vis light was greatly improved, and the degradation process of MB dye was promoted. The enhancement of removal efficiency was attributed to the enhanced charge anti-recombination and high adsorption capability toward MB. This work successfully improved the rate of dye removal of TiO2 by incorporating MXene nanosheets, heralding the exciting prospects of TiO2/MXene composites in dye wastewater treatment.

Abstract Background Alzheimer's disease (AD) has become a common illness affecting the elderly, adding to society's social and financial burden. We used two‐sample Mendelian randomization (MR) in this study to determine the association between working status and AD. Methods We performed a two‐sample MR analysis. The genetic associations were derived from the UK Biobank (n = 263,615) and the International Genomics of Alzheimer's Project (n = 63,926). Inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR‐Egger, and weighted median were used in the MR analysis. The funnel plot, Cochran's Q test, MR‐Egger intercept test, and leave‐one‐out analysis were used in sensitivity analyses. Further risk factor analyses were carried out to look into the potential mediators. Results Jobs involve heavy manual or physical work (OR = 2.13, 95%CI 1.36–3.36; p = .0011), job involves mainly walking or standing (OR = 1.74, 95%CI 1.19–2.54; p = .004), and job involves shift work (OR = 2.78, 95%CI 1.14–6.80; p = .02) increased the risk of AD in the IVW analysis. There was no heterogeneity and no horizontal pleiotropy in the sensitivity analysis. Risk factor analysis suggested that each of the above association may be mediated by different risk factors. Conclusion Our study adds to the evidence that the development of AD is associated with the working status (job involves heavy manual or physical work, job involves mainly walking or standing, and job involves shift work) by using extensive human genetic data.

Tobacco addiction has been largely attributed to nicotine, a component in tobacco leaves and smoke. However, extensive evidence suggests that some non-nicotine components of smoke should not be overlooked when considering tobacco dependence. Yet, their individual effect and synergistic effect on nicotine reinforcement remain poorly understood. The study herein focused on the role of non-nicotine constituents in promoting the effects of nicotine and their independent reinforcing effects. Denicotinized cigarettes were prepared by chemical extracting of cut tobacco, and the cigarette smoke extracts (CSE, used as a proxy for non-nicotine ingredients) were obtained by machine-smoking the cigarettes and DMSO extraction. The compositions of harmful components, nicotine, and other minor alkaloids in both cut tobacco and the CSE of experimental denicotinized cigarettes were examined by GC-MS, and compared with 3R4F reference cigarettes. individually and in synergy with nicotine were determined by conditioned place preference (CPP), dopamine (DA) level detection, the open field test (OFT), and the elevated plus maze (EPM). Finally, the potential enhancement mechanism of non-nicotinic constituents was investigated by nicotine metabolism and monoamine oxidase A (MAOA) activity inhibition in the striatum of mice and human recombinant MAOA. Thenicotine content in smoke from the experimental denicotinized cigarettes (under ISO machine-smoking conditions) was reduced by 95.1% and retained most minor alkaloids, relative to the 3R4F reference cigarettes. It was found that non-nicotine constituents increased acute locomotor activities. This was especially pronounced for DA levels in NAc and CPP scores, decreased the time in center zone. There were no differences in these metrics with DNC group when compared to the NS group. Non-nicotine constituents alone did not show reinforcing effects in CPP or striatum DA levels in mice. However, in the presence of nicotine, non-nicotine constituents further increased the reinforcing effects. Furthermore, non-nicotine constituents may enhance nicotine’s reinforcing effects by inhibiting striatum MAOA activity rather than affecting nicotine metabolism or total striatum DA content in mice. These findings expand our knowledge of the effect on smoking reinforcement of non-nicotine constituents found in tobacco products.

Abstract Background N-hexane, with its metabolite 2,5-hexanedine (HD), is an industrial hazardous material. Chronic hexane exposure causes segmental demyelination in the peripheral nerves, and high-dose intoxication may also affect central nervous system. Demyelinating conditions are difficult to treat and stem cell therapy using bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) is a promising novel strategy. Our previous study found that BMSCs promoted motor function recovery in rats modeling hexane neurotoxicity. This work aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms and focused on the changes in spinal cord. Methods Sprague Dawley rats were intoxicated with HD (400 mg/kg/day, i.p, for 5 weeks). A bolus of BMSCs (5 × 107 cells/kg) was injected via tail vein. Demyelination and remyelination of the spinal cord before and after BMSC treatment were examined microscopically. Cultured oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) were incubated with HD ± BMSC-derived conditional medium (BMSC-CM). OPC differentiation was studied by immunostaining and morphometric analysis. The expressional changes of Hes1, a transcription factor negatively regulating OPC-differentiation, were studied. The upstream Notch1 and TNFα/RelB pathways were studied, and some key signaling molecules were measured. The correlation between neurotrophin NGF and TNFα was also investigated. Statistical significance was evaluated using one-way ANOVA and performed using SPSS 13.0. Results The demyelinating damage by HD and remyelination by BMSCs were evidenced by electron microscopy, LFB staining and NG2/MBP immunohistochemistry. In vitro cultured OPCs showed more differentiation after incubation with BMSC-CM. Hes1 expression was found to be significantly increased by HD and decreased by BMSC or BMSC-CM. The change of Hes1 was found, however, independent of Notch1 activation, but dependent on TNFα/RelB signaling. HD was found to increase TNFα, RelB and Hes1 expression, and BMSCs were found to have the opposite effect. Addition of recombinant TNFα to OPCs or RelB overexpression similarly caused upregulation of Hes1 expression. The secretion of NGF by BMSC and activation of NGF receptor was found important for suppression of TNFα production in OPCs. Conclusions Our findings demonstrated that BMSCs promote remyelination in the spinal cord of HD-exposed rats via TNFα/RelB-Hes1 pathway, providing novel insights for evaluating and further exploring the therapeutical effect of BMSCs on demyelinating neurodegenerative disease.

With the improvement of technology and equipment, it is preferred to adopt full-height mining at one time when conditions permit. According to the specific geological conditions of no. 3 coal seam in Lilou Coal Industry, the feasibility of full-height mining and top-caving mining method for soft thick coal seam with large buried depth is analyzed by means of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field application analysis, which provides basis for the subsequent improvement of field mining method. Through the establishment of cantilever beam mechanical model of basic roof, the influence of two mining methods on the energy response of basic roof is analyzed. Based on the energy storage characteristics of coal seam, roof and floor measured in the field, the intensity of energy released from disturbed strata by two coal mining methods is analyzed. PFC2D numerical simulation was used to compare the roof failure of the two mining methods, to monitor the change of the stress in the coal seam after excavation, and to calculate the coal seam burial depth suitable for a full mining height by adjusting the in-situ stress. The results show that compared with top-coal mining, the elastic strain energy accumulated in the full-height roof beam is more, and the energy release intensity of disturbed rock is greater. The roof crack extension height is 9.1 m and the coal wall failure depth is 5.46 m under the condition of full mining height at one time. The roof crack extension height is 1.19 m and the coal wall failure depth is 2.19 m under the caving coal mining method. In the caving coal mining method, the stress level of the original rock is restored at 3 m in front of the coal wall, and the stress level of the original rock is restored at 5 m in front of the coal wall when the full mining height is once taken. It is safer to adopt full-height mining method when the buried depth of coal seam is less than 380 m. The research results can provide reference for mining soft thick coal seam with large buried depth.

The human mediodorsal thalamic nucleus (MD) is crucial for higher cognitive functions, while the fine anatomical organization of the MD and the function of each subregion remain elusive. In this study, using high-resolution data provided by the Human Connectome Project, an anatomical connectivity-based method was adopted to unveil the topographic organization of the MD. Four fine-grained subregions were identified in each hemisphere, including the medial (MDm), central (MDc), dorsal (MDd), and lateral (MDl), which recapitulated previous cytoarchitectonic boundaries from histological studies. The subsequent connectivity analysis of the subregions also demonstrated distinct anatomical and functional connectivity patterns, especially with the prefrontal cortex. To further evaluate the function of MD subregions, partial least squares analysis was performed to examine the relationship between different prefrontal-subregion connectivity and behavioral measures in 1012 subjects. The results showed subregion-specific involvement in a range of cognitive functions. Specifically, the MDm predominantly subserved emotional-cognition domains, while the MDl was involved in multiple cognitive functions especially cognitive flexibility and inhibition. The MDc and MDd were correlated with fluid intelligence, processing speed, and emotional cognition. In conclusion, our work provides new insights into the anatomical and functional organization of the MD and highlights the various roles of the prefrontal-thalamic circuitry in human cognition.

β-TCP scaffolds with four representative pore configurations are prepared for using digital light processing (DLP)-based additive manufacturing. The process optimization, pore design, mechanical properties, and microstructure of the fabricated scaffolds are investigated. The optimal slurry solid content, exposure intensity, slice thickness, and exposure time were found to be 60 wt%, 10 mW/cm2, 25 μm, and 4 s, respectively. The DLP-formed β-TCP bone scaffolds showed 3D interconnected and multilevel pores, achieving porosities of 49%–89% and strut diameters of 200–1000 μm. The primary pore size exceeded 100 μm, and the secondary pore size was less than 10 μm. The porosity significantly affected the mechanical properties of the scaffolds, whereas the pore configuration exerted a minor influence. The prepared scaffolds with a pore configuration of triply periodic minimal surface behaved the best mechanical properties. The compressive strength and elastic modulus of the scaffolds reached 20–30 MPa and 2–4 GPa, respectively. Based on patient’s medical imaging data, large-volume β-TCP scaffolds (∽70 × 40 × 15 mm and 40 × 40 × 4 mm, after sintering) with controlled biomimicking porous structures and anatomical shapes were successfully designed and fabricated by DLP for repair of massively damaged mandible and cranial defects.

The acquisition of dynamic coastline change at fine spatial and temporal resolution is essential for enhancing sustainable coastal economic development and coastal environmental conservation. Port construction, land reclamation, urban development, and sediment deposition have resulted in extensive coastline change. In this study, the coastlines along the 56 coastal countries in 1990, 2000, 2010, 2015, and 2020 were delineated and classified into six categories using Landsat time–series images. Five relevant indices, i.e., the length, length ratio, length change rate, index of coastline utilization degree (ICUD), and fractal dimension (FD), were calculated to analyze and explore the spatiotemporal pattern of the coastlines. The results indicate that: (1) The overall length of the coastlines has increased from 3.45 × 105 km to 3.48 × 105 km in the past 30 years, with a net increase of nearly 3904 km. Between 1990 and 2020, the length of the artificial coastline increased by about 13,835 km (4.9~8.8%), while the length of the natural coastline decreased by 9932 km (95.1~91.2%). The increase in artificial coastline is concentrated in Southeast Asia and South Asia. (2) The coastline fractal dimensions (FDs) of countries and continents show that the average FD values of countries in South Asia (1.3~1.4) and Southeast Asia (1.2~1.3) were higher than other countries in the study regions, meaning that the coastlines in South Asia and Southeast Asia are more complex and curved. (3) The value of the ICUD index increased consistently between 1990 and 2015 (177.7~186.6) but decreased sharply between 2015 and 2020 (186.6~162.4), implying that the impact of human activities on the coastline continued to increase until 2015 and began to decrease after 2015. Our study examined the changes in various types of coastlines, which could be significant for sustainable development and environmental protection in coastal areas.

PurposeTo determine whether the addition of metabolic parameters from fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scans to clinical factors could improve risk prediction models for radiotherapy-related esophageal fistula (EF) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).Methods and MaterialsAnonymized data from 185 ESCC patients (20 radiotherapy-related EF-positive cases) were collected, including pre-therapy PET/CT scans and EF status. In total, 29 clinical features and 15 metabolic parameters from PET/CT were included in the analysis, and a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator logistic regression model was used to construct a risk score (RS) system. The predictive capabilities of the models were compared using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.ResultsIn univariate analysis, metabolic tumor volume (MTV)_40% was a risk factor for radiotherapy (RT)-related EF, with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.036 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.009–1.063, p = 0.007]. However, it was excluded from the predictive model using multivariate logistic regression. Predictive models were built based on the clinical features in the training cohort. The model included diabetes, tumor length and thickness, adjuvant chemotherapy, eosinophil count, and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio. The RS was defined as follows: 0.2832 − (7.1369 × diabetes) + (1.4304 × tumor length) + (2.1409 × tumor thickness) – [8.3967 × adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT)] − (28.7671 × eosinophils) + (8.2213 × MLR). The cutoff of RS was set at −1.415, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.977 (95% CI: 0.9536–1), a specificity of 0.929, and a sensitivity of 1. Analysis in the testing cohort showed a lower AUC of 0.795 (95% CI: 0.577–1), a specificity of 0.925, and a sensitivity of 0.714. Delong’s test for two correlated ROC curves showed no significant difference between the training and testing sets (p = 0.109).ConclusionsMTV_40% was a risk factor for RT-related EF in univariate analysis and was screened out using multivariate logistic regression. A model with clinical features can predict RT-related EF.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a causal agent for most cervical cancers. The physical status of the HPV genome in these cancers could be episomal, integrated, or both. HPV integration could serve as a biomarker for clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Although whole-genome sequencing by next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, such as the Illumina sequencing platform, have been used for detecting integrated HPV genome in cervical cancer, it faces challenges of analyzing long repeats and translocated sequences. In contrast, Oxford nanopore sequencing technology can generate ultra-long reads, which could be a very useful tool for determining HPV genome sequence and its physical status in cervical cancer. As a proof of concept, in this study, we completed whole genome sequencing from a cervical cancer tissue and a CaSki cell line with Oxford Nanopore Technologies. From the cervical cancer tissue, a 7,894 bp-long HPV35 genomic sequence was assembled from 678 reads at 97-fold coverage of HPV genome, sharing 99.96% identity with the HPV sequence obtained by Sanger sequencing. A 7904 bp-long HPV16 genomic sequence was assembled from data generated from the CaSki cell line at 3857-fold coverage, sharing 99.99% identity with the reference genome (NCBI: U89348). Intriguingly, long reads generated by nanopore sequencing directly revealed chimeric cellular–viral sequences and concatemeric genomic sequences, leading to the discovery of 448 unique integration breakpoints in the CaSki cell line and 60 breakpoints in the cervical cancer sample. Taken together, nanopore sequencing is a unique tool to identify HPV sequences and would shed light on the physical status of HPV genome in its associated cancers.

Crushing and caving of roof strata in goaf is an important factor affecting surface subsidence. In order to study the influence law of mining under thick loose layer, overburden size parameters, and initial mechanical parameters of collapse zone on surface subsidence, the law of surface subsidence was analyzed through measured data. On this basis, with the help of FLAC3D numerical simulation software, the surface subsidence was simulated by changing the above factors, and the evolution characteristics of the maximum surface subsidence under the influence of various factors were analyzed. Based on the grey relational analysis, the relational degree between each factor and the maximum surface subsidence value is analyzed, and through multiple nonlinear regression, the prediction model of mining subsidence deformation under thick loose layer considering the influence of seven factors is established. The results show that the mining thickness has the greatest influence on the surface subsidence, and cohesion has the least influence on surface subsidence. The rationality of the subsidence prediction model is verified by an example.

As the boundary between the sea and the land, information on the location and type of coastline constantly changes with environmental changes in coastal zones. Monitoring of coastline changes in long time series becomes important for the monitoring and assessment of the coastal zone environment. In this study, Landsat series images from five time periods (1990, 2000, 2010, 2015, and 2020) were selected for monitoring and analyzing the changes in coastline length, sea–land pattern, the index of coastline diversity, and fractal dimension characteristics. Our conclusions are as follows: (1) The lengths of the entire coastline and the artificial coastline of mainland China increased from 30,041.22 km and 10,022.49 km in 1990 to 32,977.34 km and 17,660.84 km in 2020, with annual change rates of 97.87 km/year and 254.61 km/year, respectively. From 1990 to 2020, the rate of natural coastline decreased from 66.68% to 42.29%, and the artificial coastline increased from 33.32% to 57.71%. (2) The length of natural coastline decreased from 20,018.73 km to 15,316.5 km; among the types of natural coastline, the length of sandy coastline and bedrock coastline decreased the most, at 2062.95 km and 1815.8 km, respectively. (3) The coastal zone of mainland China had a significant increase in land area, with a net increase of about 10,902.55 km2. (4) The index of coastline diversity continued to decrease, and the coastline structure tended to be simple. The fractal dimension of the mainland coastline was consistent with the trend of the length of the coastline, which basically shows an increasing trend. Therefore, the length of the mainland coastline and artificial coastline displayed an upward trend between 1990 and 2020, which also led to simpler coastline diversity and more complex coastline shapes. Since the first year of the SDGs (2015), the growth rate of the artificial coastline has decreased by 158.32 km/year compared with that between 2010 and 2015. In recent years, China has enacted a number of laws, regulations, and action plans to protect its coastline, and it has proposed that by 2020, the proportion of natural coastline will be no less than 35%. The rapid development of China’s coastal areas drives the construction of coastal zone cities but also creates a variety of challenges for the ecological environment of the coastal zone, and the management and sustainable use of the mainland coastline resources should be further strengthened.

The main purpose of this study is to establish an effective landslide susceptibility zoning model and test whether underground mined areas and ground collapse in coal mine areas seriously affect the occurrence of landslides. Taking the Fenxi Coal Mine Area of Shanxi Province in China as the research area, landslide data has been investigated by the Shanxi Geological Environment Monitoring Center; adopting the 5-fold cross-validation method, and through Geostatistics analysis means the datasets of all non-landslides and landslides were divided into 80:20 proportions randomly for training and validating models. A set of 15 condition factors including terrain, geological, hydrological, land cover, and human engineering activity factors (distance to road, distance to mined area, ground collapse density) were selected as the evaluation indices to construct the susceptibility assessment model. Three machine learning algorithms for landslide susceptibility prediction (LSP) including C5.0 Decision Tree (C5.0), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) have been selected and compared through the Areas under the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) Curves (AUC), and several statistical estimates. The study revealed that for these three models the value range of prediction accuracies vary from 83.49 to 99.29% (in the training stage), and 62.26–73.58% (in the validation stage). In the two stages, AUCs are between 0.92 to 0.99 and 0.71 to 0.80 respectively. Using Jenks Natural Breaks algorithm, three LSPs levels are established as very low, low, medium, high, and very high probability of landslide by dividing the indices of the LSP. Compared with RF and SVM, C5.0 is considered better in five categories according to quantities and distribution of the landslides and their area percentage for different LSP zones. Four factors such as distance to road, lithology, profile curvature, and ground collapse density are the most suitable condition factors for LSP. The distance to mine area factor has a medium contribution and plays an obvious role in the occurrence of landslides in all the models. The result reveals that C5.0 possesses better prediction efficiency than RF and SVM, and underground mined area and ground collapse sifnigicantly affect significantly the occurrence of landslides in the Fenxi Coal Mine Area.

The development of robust and efficient electrocatalysts for use in fuel cells and metal–air batteries has garnered a great deal of interest due to the quest for clean and renewable energy sources. In this paper, a promising Co-doped Pr0.5Ba0.4Ca0.1Fe1-xCoxO3-δ (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8; denoted as PBCFC-x, x = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8) with enhanced durability and electrocatalytic ORR/OER activity for zinc–air battery cathode catalysts is presented. Particularly, PBCFC-6 exhibits the best bifunctional catalytic activity in alkaline media among several materials, according to research using the RDE. The zinc–air battery with PBCFC-6 as the cathode catalyst delivered the smallest discharge–charge voltage difference at the current density of 10 mA·cm−2 and only increased by 0.031 V after 220 cycles (220 h), demonstrating its superior bifunctional catalytic activity and durability. The optimized electrochemical performance of both OER and ORR as well as stability in zinc–air batteries might result from the higher electrical conductivity, increasing concentration of adsorbed oxygen, and the greater proportion of Fe4+ (t2g3eg1) with optimal electron occupancy, owing to the partial replacement of Fe with Co.

Reasonable coal pillar size of roadway protection is an important guarantee for roadway stability under the action of static-dynamic coupling loadings in deep mines. Coal pillar and roof-floor rock form a non-integral contact structure of coal and rock. However, in the existing literature, there is no research on the size of the coal pillar under static-dynamic coupling loadings based on the non-integral contact structure of coal and rock. In this study, the coal-rock non-integral contact composite specimens are designed, and the coal pillar size is simulated by the radial sizes of the specimens. The failure characteristics of coal-rock under the static-dynamic coupling loadings are studied by the SHPB test, which provides the basis for the design of coal pillar size, and finally determines the reasonable coal pillar size by combining with numerical simulation. The test results show that the strength of the specimens decreases with the decrease of section size of coal and increases with the increase of dynamic load, but there is a critical value for static load. When the coal sections radial sizes are 50, 45, and 40 mm and dynamic loads are applied, the stress-strain curve of the specimens has a plastic stage, but the rest do not exist. The minimum coal section radial size which can ensure the stability of the specimens is 40 mm, and the similar calculation of coal pillar size is 88 m. Combined with numerical simulation, the final coal pillar size is 90 m. This study provides a more accurate and reliable method to determine the size of a coal pillar under the action of static-dynamic coupling loadings.

Background Neuroticism and stress are important vulnerability factors in the development and outcome of anxiety symptoms. However, as neuroticism is a heterogeneity trait, it is still unclear how different neuroticism factors contribute to anxiety symptoms independently or in conjunction with stress. Thus, different factors of neuroticism were extracted in the present longitudinal study using the bi-factor model. The prediction effect of these different factors on anxiety symptoms and their combined effects with stress in both adolescent and adult samples were examined. Method Participants (592 adolescents and 638 young adults) in Hunan China were included. In the initial assessment in our longitudinal study, participants were asked to complete measurements that assessed neuroticism, stress, and anxiety symptoms. Next, a monthly assessment of stress and anxiety symptoms was completed for the subsequent 6 months. The bi-factor model was used to extract different factors of neuroticism. The hierarchical linear model was used to analyze longitudinal multi-wave data. Result Several model fit indices were used to evaluate the bi-factor model fit for neuroticism (adolescent: Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.957, comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.973, RMSEA = 0.040, Chi-Square = 80.471; early adults: TLI = 0.957, CFI = 0.973, RMSEA = 0.042, Chi-Square = 88.465). The results of hierarchical linear modeling analyses indicated that the general factor of neuroticism possessed a predictive effect on anxiety symptoms (adolescents: F = 36.77, p < 0.0001, early adults: F = 30.44, p < 0.0001); The negative effect factor only had the prediction effect on anxiety symptoms in early adults (adolescents: F = 0.65, p > 0.05; early adults: F = 4.84, p < 0.05); No prediction of self-reproach factor was found on anxiety symptoms (adolescents: F = 3.79, p > 0.05; early adults: F = 0.02, p > 0.05); the interactive effects of the general factor and stress on anxiety symptoms were only found in early adulthood (adolescents: F = 0.13, p > 0.05; early adults: F = 11.55, p < 0.01). Conclusion Our results suggested that the bi-factor model achieved a satisfactory fit for neuroticism measurement and supported that the anxiety symptoms were induced by the main effects of the general factor in both age samples and the negative factor only in adults. The general factor of neuroticism, but not the negative factor could make an additive effect for anxiety symptoms in face of stress, which meant that the homogeneity of neuroticism played a more significant role in further anxiety symptoms than heterogeneity when coping with stress.

In the process of coal mining, when the buried depth is large and the loose layer is thick, the ground subsidence tends to be abnormal, thus causing great damage to the surface ecological environment. In order to reveal the mechanism of mining ground subsidence under ultrathick loose layer, taking 1305 working face of a mine as the background, the law of mining ground subsidence under ultrathick loose layer was analyzed through field measurement. The law of bedrock subsidence is analyzed by similar simulation test, and the role of ultrathick loose layer in bedrock subsidence is quantitatively analyzed. The hydrophobic settlement model of ultrathick loose layer is established by settlement theory calculation, and the law of ground subsidence caused by hydrophobic of ultrathick loose layer is analyzed. The results show that the ground subsidence is mainly composed of bedrock subsidence and hydrophobic settlement of ultrathick loose layer. The maximum ground subsidence measured in the field is 4.201 m, the bedrock surface subsidence obtained by the simulation test of similar materials is 3.552 m, and the subsidence of ultrathick loose layer obtained by hydrophobic settlement analysis is 0.58 m. Adding the subsidence of bedrock surface and the subsidence of ultrathick loose layer, the ground subsidence is 4.132 m. It is in good agreement with the total ground subsidence measured in the field, which verifies the rationality that the ground subsidence mainly includes bedrock subsidence and hydrophobic settlement of ultrathick loose layer.

In the process of coal mining, the surface subsidence under ultrathick loose layer is abnormal (subsidence coefficient greater than 1.0), which will cause great damage to the surface ecological environment. The fracture propagation and stress evolution of bedrock are of great significance to the prevention of surface subsidence. Taking the 1305 working face of a mine as the background, this paper study the process of crack propagation and stress evolution of bedrock under the influence of ultrathick loose layer by methods of on-site measurement, similar simulation, and numerical simulation. During the research process, the physical model was verified by the measured data. Then, the numerical model was verified by the crack propagation angle and subsidence of bedrock, which were obtained in a similar simulation. Based on the verified numerical model, it was obtained that after the coal seam was mined out, the bedrock above the mined-out area was mainly damaged by tension, while the strata on both sides of the crack expansion angle were mainly damaged by shear and tension. During coal seam mining, for bedrock the process of fracture expansion, subsidence, and stress evolution all could be divided into four stages. This research provides a basis for the control of surface subsidence.

PURPOSE: To determine whether volumes based on the contours of the mucosal surface instead of the oral cavity can be used to predict grade ≥3 acute oral mucosa toxicity in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC) treated with concurrent intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and chemotherapy. METHODS AND MATERIALS: A standardized method for the oral cavity (oral cavity contours, OCC) and a novel method for the mucosal surface (mucosal surface contours, MSC) were developed for the oral mucosa and prospectively applied to the radiation treatment plans of 92 patients treated with concurrent IMRT and chemotherapy for LANPC. Dose–volume histogram (DVH) data were extracted and then toxicity was analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic analysis and logistic regression were carried out for both contouring methods. RESULTS: Grade ≥3 acute oral mucosa toxicity occurred to 20.7% (19/92) of patients in the study. A highly significant dose–volume relationship between oral mucosa irradiation and acute oral mucosa toxicity was supported by using both oral cavity and mucosal surface contouring techniques. In logistic regression, body weight loss was an independent factor related to grade ≥3 acute toxicity for OCC and MSC (P = .017 and 0.005, respectively), and the independent factor of dosimetric parameters for OCC and MSC were V30Gy (P = .003) and V50Gy (P = .003) respectively. In the receiver operating characteristics curve, the areas under V30Gy of the OCC curves was 0.753 (P = .001), while the areas under V50Gy of MSC curves was 0.714 (P = .004); the cut-off value was 73.155% (sensitivity, 0.842; specificity, 0.671) and 14.32% (sensitivity, 0.842; specificity, 0.575), respectively. CONCLUSION: DVH analysis of mucosal surface volumes accurately predicts grade ≥3 acute oral mucosa toxicity in patients with LANPC receiving concurrent IMRT and chemotherapy, but in clinical practice the MSC method appears no better than the OCC one.

The preparation of powdered microcapsules of flavor substances should not only protect these substances from volatilization during storage but also improve their diffusion during use. This study aimed to investigate the effects of maltodextrin (MD) with different dextrose equivalent (DE) values on retention of flavor substances during storage, and the dynamic release of flavor substances during dissolution. MDs with three different DE values and whey protein isolate were mixed in a ratio of 4:1 as wall materials to encapsulate ethyl acetate, and powdered microcapsules were prepared by spray drying. It was proved that MD could reduce the diffusion of flavor substances under different relative humidity conditions through the interaction between core material and wall material. During dissolution, MD released flavor substances quickly owing to its superior solubility. The reconstituted emulsion formed after the powder dissolved in water recaptured flavor substances and made the system reach equilibrium. This study explored the mechanism of flavor release during the storage and dissolution of powder microcapsules and should help us understand the application of powder microcapsules in food systems.

In this study, soymilk was hydrolyzed to different degrees with flavourzyme, and then soymilk and enzyme modified soymilk at various levels were added to skim milk respectively, to generate a mixed gel using rennet. Rheological properties, scanning electron microscopy imaging, and physical and chemical indexes were examined to reveal the effect of enzyme modified soymilk on rennet induced gelation of skim milk. Results showed that soymilk inhibited the aggregation of skim milk, led to a decrease in storage modulus (G’), significantly increased moisture content and curd yield, and the resulting network was coarse. Enzyme modified soymilk with a molecular weight below 20 kDa led to a more uniform curd distribution, which counteracted the reduction of G’ and allowed for the formation of a stronger gel. Both the moisture content and the curd yield increased with the addition of soymilk and enzyme modified soymilk, and overall the effect of adding a high degree of hydrolysis of enzyme modified soymilk was superior. Compared to untreated soymilk, the addition of a certain amount of enzyme modified soymilk resulted in a new protein structure, which would improve the texture of blend cheese.

Background and objective Controversies exists with regard to target volumes as far as thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) is concerned in the multimodality treatment for limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LSCLC). The aim of this study is to prospectively compare the local control rate, toxicity profiles, and overall survival (OS) between patients received different target volumes irradiation after induction chemotherapy. Methods LSCLC patients received 2 cycles of etoposide and cisplatin (EP) induction chemotherapy and were randomly assigned to receive TRT to either the post- or pre-chemotherapy tumor extent (GTV-T) as study arm and control arm, CTV-N included the positive nodal drainage area for both arms. One to 2 weeks after induction chemotherapy, 45 Gy/30 Fx/19 d TRT was administered concurrently with the third cycle of EP regimen. After that, additional 3 cycles of EP consolidation were administered. Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) was administered to patients with a complete response. Results Thirty-seven and 40 patients were randomly assigned to study arm and control arm. The local recurrence rates were 32.4% and 28.2% respectively (P=0.80); the isolated nodal failure (INF) rate were 3.0% and 2.6% respectively (P=0.91); all INF sites were in the ipsilateral supraclavicular fossa. Medastinal N3 disease was the risk factor for INF (P=0.02, OR=14.13, 95%CI: 1.47-136.13). During radiotherapy, grade I, II weight loss was observed in 29.4%, 5.9% and 56.4%, 7.7% patients respectively (P=0.04). Grade 0-I and II-III late pulmonary injury was developed in 97.1%, 2.9% and 86.4%, 15.4% patients respectively (P=0.07). Median survival time was 22.1 months and 26.9 months respectively. The 1 to 3-year OS were 77.9%, 44.4%, 37.3% and 75.8%, 56.3%, 41.7% respectively (P=0.79). Conclusion The preliminary results of this study indicate that irradiant the post-chemotherapy tumor extent (GTV-T) and positive nodal drainage area did not decrease local control and overall survival while radiation toxicity was reduced. But the current sample size has not met designed requirements, and further investigation is warranted before final conclusions could be drawn.

Catalytic pyrolysis behavior of synthesized microporous catalysts (conventional Zeolite Socony Mobil–5 (C-ZSM-5), highly uniform nanocrystalline ZSM-5 (HUN-ZSM-5) and β-zeolite), Mesoporous catalysts (highly hydrothermally stable Al-MCM-41 with accessible void defects (Al-MCM-41(hhs)), Kanemite-derived folded silica (KFS-16B) and well-ordered Al-SBA-15 (Al-SBA-15(wo)) were studied with waste polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) mixture which are the main constituents in municipal solid waste. All the catalysts were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and NH3-temperature programmed desorption (TPD). The results demonstrated that microporous catalysts exhibited high yields of gas products and high selectivity for aromatics and alkene, whereas the mesoporous catalysts showed high yields of liquid products with considerable amounts of aliphatic compounds. The differences between the microporous and mesoporous catalysts could be attributed to their characteristic acidic and textural properties. A significant amount of C2–C4 gases were produced from both types of catalysts. The composition of the liquid and gas products from catalytic pyrolysis is similar to petroleum-derived fuels. In other words, products of catalytic pyrolysis of plastic waste can be potential alternatives to the petroleum-derived fuels.
