Alveolar bone exostoses are benign, localized outgrowths of bone that can occur on the buccal or lingual surfaces of the alveolar ridge. These bony protuberances, which consist of mature cortical and trabecular bone, can develop during orthodontic treatment. The etiology of alveolar bone exostosis remains unclear, but potential contributing factors include genetic predisposition, masticatory hyperfunction, and environmental influences such as nutritional factors. Clinically, these exostoses can be identified through a combination of physical examination and radiographic imaging, appearing as well-defined, calcified structures. Management of alveolar bone exostosis is generally conservative, with surgical intervention reserved for cases where the exostosis causes significant discomfort, interferes with oral hygiene, or affects esthetics. The premature loss of primary teeth can lead to significant orthodontic issues, including the loss of space and improper alignment of permanent teeth. Space regainers, particularly non-compliant ones, are orthodontic devices designed to restore lost space without relying on patient compliance. These devices are especially valuable in pediatric orthodontics, where maintaining patient cooperation can be challenging. This report aims to demonstrate the use of non-compliant space regainers, specifically an open coil spring and AJ Wilcock wire, to recover space following the early loss of the upper second deciduous molar. Additionally, the effectiveness of these devices in addressing crossbite and correcting molar relations will be assessed. A case study was conducted on a pediatric patient who experienced the premature loss of the upper second deciduous molar. Non-compliant space regainers, including an open coil spring and AJ Wilcock wire, were utilized to distalize the molars and correct the crossbite using a transpalatal arch (TPA). Treatment progress was monitored, with final evaluations scheduled after the eruption of the premolars to assess the completeness of molar relation and crossbite correction. The use of open coil spring and AJ Wilcock wire successfully regained space, with significant improvements in molar relation and crossbite correction. The results closely matched the planned treatment goals. Further correction of the molar relation and crossbite will be evaluated post-eruption of the premolars. Non-compliant space regainers provide a dependable solution for managing space loss and crossbite, particularly in situations where patient cooperation is difficult. These devices have proven to be effective in achieving early correction, reducing the need for more complex orthodontic procedures. ABSTRACT: Objective: This study evaluates the shear bond strength (SBS) of 6th, 7th, and 8th generation dentin bonding agents. Materials and Methods: Thirty extracted premolars were divided into three groups of 10. Group A used a 6th generation bonding agent, Group B a 7th generation bonding agent, and Group C a 8th generation bonding agent. Each tooth was fixed in acrylic resin, sectioned to expose dentin, treated with the respective bonding agent, and built up with composite resin. SBS was assessed by universal testing machine. Results: Highest shear bond value was illustrated by the 8th generation bonding agent, with subsequent values progressively lower for the 7th and 6th generation bonding agents. Conclusion: The 8th generation bonding agents exhibit superior shear bond strength, suggesting enhanced dental restoration durability. Further clinical validation is recommended.
