The problem of increasing the performance of batteries operating under severe temperature conditions is of current interest for the development of stand-alone energy systems. The system maintaining battery optimal temperature is proposed. The system combines battery thermal insulation, heating and monitoring and allows maintaining battery temperature with minimum energy consumption. The paper describes the experimental study of the proposed system. The experimental results analysis indicates internal resistance decrease of 47.9% and discharge energy increase of 55.7% and proves the technical efficiency of the system. more...

The system combines battery thermal insulation, heating and monitoring and allows maintaining battery temperature with minimum energy consumption. The purpose of the Study was to search for an association of the gene polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), angiotensinogen (ATG) and type I receptors of angiotensin II with the risk for chronic heart failure in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and arterial hypertension (AH). A hundred persons, including 80 patients with CHD, 10 patients with hypertensive disease, and 10 healthy Individuals were examined. There was no association of the ID gene polymorphism of ACE, MT gene polymorphism of ATG, and the AC gene polymorphism of ATR1 with the risk for heart failure in patients with CHD and AH. more...

A method using correlation between intensities of spectral lines for increasing the precision and accuracy in emission spectral analysis is described. Correlations in spectra of low and high voltage spark discharges, and a.c. and d.c. arcs are investigated. Firstly, conditions were determined, under which correlation relationships between the analytical signal and the parameters following variations in the excitation and mass transfer processes are rectilinear, strong (correlation coefficients r ⩾0.8), and stable in time and under which the regression coefficients do not depend on the investigated element concentration. A quantitative spectral analysis method, in which either one “fixation pair”, controlling mass transfer changes in the radiation source, or two fixation pairs, following variations in the excitation and mass transfer conditions, are registered simultaneously with the analytical signal, was elaborated. The effect of substrate containing crude anthrax toxin on the phagocytosing leukocyte chemiluminescence has been studied. Preliminary toxin incubation with leukocytes for 60 min blocks cell chemiluminescence in the linear ratio effect concentration in the protein component of the toxin; the minimum concentration of the toxin protein component inhibiting the phagocytosing leukocyte luminescence is 3-5 micrograms per 5 x 10(5) cells. The substrate pure mixture of the oedema factor and protective antigen inhibits the chemiluminescence more intensively than crude toxin does. Inhibiting chemiluminescence activity of the anthrax toxin is directly proportional to its adenylate cyclase activity. more...
