Purpose Adopting sustainable practices is highly required in hotels. This study aims to assess consumer behaviour towards adopting sustainable practices in hotels. In addition, mediating role of consumer attitude (CAtt) is assessed between consumer awareness (CA) and willingness to pay. Design/methodology/approach An empirical study was carried out to analyse the integrative research model of CA, CAtt and willingness to pay premium price (WTPPP) for sustainable practices adoption in five-star hotels in emerging economies. Responses from 447 respondents were collected and analysed. Structural equation modelling was performed using SPSS 21.0. Findings The research outcomes indicate the partial mediation of CAtt between CA and WTPPP. Furthermore, consumer satisfaction has been found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between CAtt and willingness to pay a premium price. Originality/value The research results add to the literature by analysing prominent factors affecting willingness to pay premium for adopting sustainable practices in five-star hotels.

In India, sales of goods and services are subject to an indirect tax known as Goods and Service Tax. On July 1, 2017, India implemented a new tax known as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which affected all sectors of the economy, including the textiles sector, which is crucial to the development of both the Indian and global economies. The study is about the “Impact of GST on Textile Industries: A case study of Raymond’s Ltd”. The objective of this study is to evaluate the overall financial performance and also to compare Pre and Post GST effect on financial performance of Raymond Ltd. Secondary data has been taken in this study. Different ratios, T Test and Bar diagram has been used to analyse the data. This study found out that there is no significant difference in financial performance of Raymond’s Ltd and also there is no significant impact of pre and post GST effect on financial performance of Raymond’s Ltd.

According to research, there are around 188 million unemployed people around the globe. We may find many job vacancies on job portals and across the internet to help the job seekers. India alone has more than a hundred job portals. One major issue people face here is that the job seekers are not sure if the employer is real or fake. Most of these portals do not have a system that could check if the employer posting a job is real or fake. Scammers are making use of this opportunity to post fake job offers which might look genuine to the job seekers applying for it. The poor job seekers might lose a large amount of money and time. A best possible solution for this problem would be that the job portal itself being able to identify if the job being posted is real or fake. Paper suggests using a machine learning model to achieve this goal. An idea here is to use natural language processing to understand and analyze the job posting and then making use of a machine learning model to predict if the job posting is real or fake. The first step is to import a dataset which has real life, real, and fake job posting. In this project, Employment Scam Aegean Dataset provided by University of Aegean Laboratory of Information and Communication system security is being used. Linear SVC is being used in this project for predicting real and fake job posting on a job portal.

Corona virus originated from Wuhan city China has proliferated in such a way that it has made its presence in almost every country. This virus has impacted every industry such as manufacturing, service industry etc. It has put a great dent in the tourism and travel industry. It is assumed that tourism and travel can take a long time to recover. This impact of this varus has resulted in millions of job losses and took economy in negative figures. India, which was once considered to be the largest growing economy, has seen a double-digit negative growth. The objective of this paper is to find the impact of pandemic on tourism industry. An extensive literature review resulted in three dimensions of microenvironment which have suffered in tourism industry. Results showed that the scale is reliable and valid. Pandemic has resulted in un-employment, reduced income of tourism and reduced traveller preference etc. Hypotheses were tested by calculating correlation coefficient, which showed that there is significant relationship among factors. This study will help managers and policy makers to make projections for profit margins and to build strategies to overcome the negative effect of pandemic on tourism.

PurposeGiven the pace of global environmental degradation, companies and individuals alike are exploring ways and means of protecting the environment. In this context, the attitudes of hoteliers and their employees toward sustainability are key to the successful implementation of these practices. This paper aims to consider the impact of attitude development and COVID-19 on the sustainability performance of hotels. The study also explores contributions made by hotels to environmental sustainability and society more generally.Design/methodology/approachThe study is based on interviews and survey questionnaires completed by employees of five-star hotels in India, and qualitative methods were used to process the data.FindingsThe findings of this study confirm the devastating impact of COVID-19 on both economic and societal sustainability in what otherwise would be a profitable sector of the economy.Practical implicationsThe study has implications for hoteliers, the government, environmental agencies and for employees and could assist with the formulation of recovery packages by government and in the development of new standard operating procedures to enable hotels to step-up on the self-recovery path.Originality/valueThe paper provides an analysis of the direct effects of the pandemic on financial sustainability and its mediating impact on the efforts of hotels to attain sustainable environment.

Chronic inorganic arsenic (iAs) exposure induces deleterious effects on CNS including oxidative stress, cognitive deficits and altered brain neurochemistry. Little is known about the association between iAs and estrogen receptor expression in brain regions. Owing to the neuroprotective and estrogenic activities of resveratrol (RES), we examined the combined effects of arsenic trioxide (As2O3) and RES on neurobehavioural functions, estrogen signalling and associated neurochemical changes in mouse hippocampus. As2O3 alone (2 and 4 mg/kg bw) or along with RES (40 mg/kg bw) was administered orally for 45 days to adult female mice. From days 33 to 45, open field, elevated plus maze and Morris water maze tests were conducted to evaluate locomotion, anxiety and learning and memory. On day 46, animals were euthanized and brain tissue and hippocampi obtained therefrom were processed for atomic absorption spectrophotometry and western blotting respectively. As2O3 alone exposure resulted in enhanced anxiety levels, reduced locomotion and impaired learning and memory. As2O3-induced behavioural deficits were accompanied by downregulation of estrogen receptor (ERα) expression with a concomitant reduction of BDNF and NMDAR 2B levels in the hippocampus. However, the behavioural alterations and expression of these markers were restored in RES-supplemented mice. Moreover, a dose-dependent iAs accumulation was observed in serum and brain tissues of mice receiving As2O3 alone whereas simultaneous administration of As2O3 with RES facilitated iAs efflux. These results suggest that reduced ERα expression with associated downregulation of BDNF and NMDAR 2B levels could be a mechanism by which iAs induces cognitive impairment; hence, the modulation of estrogen-NMDAR-BDNF pathway by RES represents a potential avenue to recover behavioural deficits induced by this neurotoxin.

Background. Even in today’s environment, when there is a plethora of information accessible, it may be difficult to make appropriate choices for one’s well-being. Data mining, machine learning, and computational statistics are among the most popular arenas of training today, and they are all aimed at secondary empowered person in making good decisions that will maximize the outcome of whatever working area they are involved with. Because the degree of rise in the number of patient roles is directly related to the rate of people growth and lifestyle variations, the healthcare sector has a significant need for data processing services. When it comes to cancer, the prognosis is an expression that relates to the possibility of the patient surviving in general, but it may also be used to describe the severity of the sickness as it will present itself in the patient's future timeline. Methodology. The proposed technique consists of three stages: input data acquisition, preprocessing, and classification. Data acquisition consists of input raw data which is followed by preprocessing to eliminate the missed data and the classification is carried out using ensemble classifier to analyze the stages of cancer. This study explored the combined influence of the prominent labels in conjunction with one another utilizing the multilabel classifier approach, which is successful. Finally, an ensemble classifier model has been constructed and experimentally validated to increase the accuracy of the classifier model, which has been previously shown. The entire performance of the recommended and tested models demonstrates a steady development of 2% to 6% over the baseline presentation on the baseline performance. Results. Providing a good contribution to the general health welfare of noncommercial potential workers in the healthcare sector is an opportunity provided by this recommended job outcome. It is anticipated that alternative solutions to these constraints, as well as automation of the whole process flow of all five phases, will be the key focus of the work to be carried out shortly. Predicting health status of employee in industry or information trends is made easier by these data patterns. The proposed classifier achieves the accuracy rate of 93.265%.

The purpose of this chapter is to examine how gender diversity affects corporate social responsibility disclosure. Considering the socio-economic impact of the deployment of the fourth industry revolution (Industry 4.0), firms have a moral obligation to disclose information on how different stakeholders may be affected by the extensive use of smart technologies in their value-adding activities. The study used multiple regression analysis with 176 publicly traded Indian service sector organizations for the financial year 2020-21. The findings revealed that GD has a negligible impact on CSR filings. By focusing on Indian public firms in the service sector, this study fills a vacuum in the literature. It is the first study to evaluate the impact of women on boards on the scope of CSR reporting in an Indian context. The findings of this study have crucial implications for future board composition as they show that women's representation on boards did not affect CSR disclosures.

Global cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I-R) injury often results in an irreparable brain damage like behavioral impairment and neuronal death. This neurological complication involves diverse intricate pathological mechanisms like oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis. Recently, the therapeutic value of plant-based polyphenols has gained researcher's attention. The present study focused on the putative neuroprotective role of negundoside on behavioral and oxidative stress status in an experimental model of global cerebral ischemia and reperfusion-induced brain injury. Negundoside was isolated from the leaves of Vitex negundo Linn. by chromatography for investigating its possible neurobehavioral and neuropharmacological implications. Healthy Balb/C mice of either sex were subjected to 10 min of global cerebral ischemia (GCI) followed by 24-h reperfusion. Mice were pre-treated intraperitoneally with negundoside at varying doses (1, 3, 5, 10, and 15 mg/kg) 60 min before the induction of GCI. Mice were later subjected to a battery of behavioral tests for evaluating memory-related and motor abilities. Elevated plus maze (EPM) was used to determine the anxiety levels and short-term memory whereas motor abilities were evaluated by inclined beam-walking test, rotarod, and lateral push test. TBARS and reduced glutathione (GSH) content in brains were analyzed spectrophotometrically as oxidative stress markers. Behavioral study revealed enhanced anxiety-related responses and motor deficits in I-R injured mice. Additionally, GSH and TBARS levels were found to be altered following I-R-induced neuronal injury. Contrastingly, negundoside administration was able to alleviate the behavioral and biochemical alterations to the normal levels. Together, our findings provide preliminary evidence of neuroprotective role of negundoside against global cerebral ischemia and reperfusion-induced behavioral dysfunction and oxidative damage in mice brain.

Globally, the use of artificial intelligence has prominently increased the ability of a machine combined with human intelligence and has added to the ability of traditional methods to deal with financial information manipulation. The study aims to identify the mediating role of artificial intelligence tools in the forensic accounting and the detection of financial frauds. The study has developed a research model using structural equation modeling to examine the influence of forensic accounting in the detection of financial frauds. The results can help professionals understanding the benefits of AI technology in the forensic accounting domain that can facilitate combating fraud.

December 2019, “The Black date” written boldly in the global history, a month which shall be remembered for many generations to come. The year 2019 has seen a death count which has outnumbered even the death count of World WarII. In the early part of December 2019, the city of Wuhan, China witnessed an outbreak of a deadly disease Corona virus 2 (SARS- COV-2). The virus has spread its wings all around the globe with major deadly impact on the developed countries where the death toll has been the maximum. As of 30th June 2020, a total of 12 million cases have been diagnosed so far wherein 6.53 million have been recovered and a death count of 5, 48,000 have been reported. The perceived risk of contracting the disease has led to a massive scare in the human mind leading to various control and preventive measures being taken up. The steep rise in the level of stress is playing a toll on the mental health of the humans of all age groups in all of the impacted countries. The pandemic has made a significant psychosocial impact on the behaviour of the people towards their buying needs. The changes in the priorities have been noticed in the people’s buying choices due to the fear of the uncertainties caused by the disease. The present research studies, the degree of impact of various independent variablessuch as Change in Shopping habits, Increase in Online Shopping, Reduction in purchasing capacity as independent variable onbuying behaviour as dependent variable. i.e. buying behaviour of the respondents. The study, using primary data sources of 250 respondents which were collected by questionnaire using google forms. The non parametric statistical tool i.e. multiple regression has been used to analyse the relationship between dependent variable and independent variables. The results of the research clearly indicate that there is significant impact of fear of disease, job insecurity, and medical expenditure on the buying behaviour of the respondents.

Prolonged inorganic arsenic (iAs) exposure is widely associated with brain damage particularly in the hippocampus via oxidative and apoptotic pathways. Resveratrol (RES) has gained considerable attention because of its benefits to human health. However, its neuroprotective potential against iAs-induced toxicity in CA1 region of hippocampus remains unexplored. Therefore, we investigated the neuroprotective efficacy of RES against arsenic trioxide (As2O3)-induced adverse effects on neuronal morphology, apoptotic markers and oxidative stress parameters in mouse CA1 region (hippocampus). Adult female Swiss albino mice of reproductive maturity were orally exposed to either As2O3 (2 and 4 mg/kg bw) alone or in combination with RES (40 mg/kg bw) for a period of 45 days. After animal sacrifice on day 46, the perfusion fixed brain samples were used for the observation of neuronal morphology and studying the morphometric features. While the freshly dissected hippocampi were processed for biochemical estimation of oxidative stress markers and western blotting of apoptosis-associated proteins. Chronic iAs exposure led to significant decrease in Stratum Pyramidale layer thickness along with reduction in cell density and area of Pyramidal neurons in contrast to the controls. Biochemical analysis showed reduced hippocampal GSH content but no change in total nitrite (NO) levels following iAs exposure. Western blotting showed apparent changes in the expression levels of Bax and Bcl-2 proteins following iAs exposure, however the change was statistically insignificant. Contrastingly, iAs +RES co-treatment exhibited substantial reversal in morphological and biochemical observations. Together, these findings provide preliminary evidence of neuroprotective role of RES on structural and biochemical alterations pertaining to mouse hippocampus following chronic iAs exposure.

The objective of our study is to conduct and accomplish a retrospective analysis of the macro-economic repercussions of the various Pandemics which have emerged till date and also to forecast the impact of COVID-19 on the Indian Economy. COVID-19 is a contagious disease belonging to the SARS COV-2 family. The best method recommended to restrain the virus is by social distancing and self-isolation. The major method being used by infected countries is complete lock down. This method may help in containing the virus spread but it is paving the way to the Global recession which will have a severe consequence on all sectors of the economy and all the countries-be it developed or developing. We also suggest that additional work is necessary to develop a more comprehensive macro-economic model in order to accurately estimate the relative cost and effects of a global response to the outbreaks of international concern in a better manner.

The brachial plexus innervates the upper extremities. While variations in the formation of the brachial plexus and its terminal branches are quite common, it is uncommon for the median nerve to innervate the muscles of the arm. During the dissection of an elderly male cadaver at the Department of Anatomy, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, in 2016, the coracobrachialis muscle was found to be supplied by a direct branch from the lateral root of the median nerve and the musculocutaneous nerve was absent. The branches of the median nerve supplied the biceps brachii and brachialis muscles and the last branch continued as the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm. These variations may present atypically in cases of arm flexor paralysis or sensory loss on the lateral forearm. Knowledge of these variations is important in surgeries and during the administration of regional anaesthesia near the shoulder joint and upper arm. Since, oxidative stress has been suggested as one of the mechanisms underlying arsenic-induced toxicity, the present study focused on the role of antioxidant (curcumin) supplementation on behavioral, biochemical, and morphological alterations with context to mice hippocampus (CA1) following arsenic trioxide (As2O3) administration. Healthy male Swiss albino mice were divided into control and experimental groups. As2O3 (2 mg/kg bw) alone or along with curcumin (100 mg/kg bw) was administered to experimental groups by oral route for 45 days whereas the control groups received either no treatment or vehicle for curcumin. Animals were subjected to behavioral study towards the end of the experimental period (day 33-45). On day 46, the brain samples were obtained and subjected either to immersion fixation (for morphometric observations) or used afresh for biochemical test. Behavioral tests (open field, elevated plus maze, and Morris water maze) revealed enhanced anxiety levels and impairment of cognitive functions in As2O3 alone treated groups whereas a trend of recovery was evident in mice simultaneously treated with As2O3 and curcumin. Morphological observations showed noticeable reduction in stratum pyramidale thickness (CA1), along with decrease in density and size of pyramidal neurons in As2O3 alone exposed group as compared to As2O3+Cu co-treated group. Hippocampal glutathione levels were found to be downregulated in animals receiving As2O3 as against the levels of controls and curcumin supplemented animals, thereby, suggestive of beneficial role of curcumin on As2O3 induced adverse effects.
