5. Effect of stent graft fixation types on pararenal aortic diameter and renal function after endovascular aortic repair

Abstract

Background: This study aims to identify pararenal aortic diameter changes following endovascular aortic repair and to investigate the effects of suprarenal fixation on renal function. Methods: Between May 2006 and January 2019, a total of 168 patients (135 males, 33 females; mean age: 75.2±8.4 years; range, 48 to 93 years) who underwent endovascular aortic repair were retrospectively analyzed. To compare the effects of graft types, we measured the change in pararenal aortic diameter at four levels: below the celiac artery, below the superior mesenteric artery, at the lowest renal artery, and 1 cm below the lowest renal artery. To evaluate the effect of suprarenal fixation on renal function, serial measurements of serum creatinine, glomerular filtration rate, creatinine clearance rate, and estimated glomerular filtration rate were made. We examined the factors related to post-procedural aortic diameter. Results: The mean change in the aortic diameter was statistically significant, being 12.9±10% in the suprarenal fixation group and 6.19±6.9% in the infrarenal fixation group only at the lowest renal artery level (p=0.001). There was no significant difference in the rate of type I endoleak (p=0.330) or renal function and adverse events (p>0.107) between the groups. The formula for calculating post-procedural aortic diameter was as follows: post-procedural aortic diameter (renal artery level, mm) =1.845 (in case of suprarenal fixation) + 1.012 × pre-procedural aortic diameter (renal artery level, mm) + 0.029 × follow-up time (months) + 0.039 × oversizing (%) (R2=0.773, p Conclusion: Suprarenal fixation affects the infrarenal aortic diameter at the lowest renal artery level without significant type I endoleak. However, it does not result in significant renal dysfunction. Pre-procedural aortic diameter, computed tomography follow-up time, suprarenal fixation type, and stent oversizing are the only definite independent correlation factors for postprocedural aortic diameter. This formula can predict the change of aortic diameter after endovascular aortic repair.

31. Development of a new HD multiview camera and processing system

Abstract

We developed a new multi-view camera system composed of 9 cameras for capturing multi-view images and utilizing them in research and exhibition. The system is composed of cameras, rig, convergence controller, LANC signal controller, IEEE 1394 signal interface. And, we made a control program that can manage a record function and other various camera parameters at PC. By this program, we can shoot multi-view scenes manipulating each element camera independently or all 9 cameras totally. After the capturing, we transform the image into the glass-less multi-view display format, and then we can enjoy natural multi-view images at lenticular display.

32. Graves' orbitopathy development in thyroid cancer patients: a 16-year nationwide cohort study in South Korea.

Abstract

Background/objectives: We aimed to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and prognosis of Graves' orbitopathy (GO) in patients with thyroid cancer without a history of hyperthyroidism., Subjects/methods: This retrospective cohort study analysed a sample from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, which included 1,137,861 subjects from 2002 through 2019. Patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer, without a history of hyperthyroidism, were identified according to the Korean Standard Classification of Disease codes. The study compared the type of surgery, dose of radioactive iodine (RAI), and daily average thyroid hormone dose between patients who developed GO after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer and those who did not develop GO. We analysed the course of GO and the type of treatment., Results: A total of 8499 cancer patients without a history of hyperthyroidism were identified, among whom 7836 underwent thyroidectomy. Of those who underwent thyroidectomy, 12 developed GO postoperatively. Among the 663 patients who did not undergo thyroidectomy, none developed GO. The prevalence of GO among thyroid cancer patients was 0.14%. The GO group received a significantly higher total RAI dose than the non-GO group (p = 0.036). There were no significant differences in sex, age, type of surgery, rate of RAI treatment, or average thyroid hormone dose between the two groups. One of the 12 patients who developed GO required intravenous steroids., Conclusions: Although GO rarely develops in thyroid cancer patients without coexisting hyperthyroidism, the total RAI dose may increase its risk.
