Thirteen new species are formally described: Cortinarius brunneocarpus from Pakistan, C. lilacinoarmillatus from India, Curvularia khuzestanica on Atriplex lentiformis from Iran, Gloeocantharellus neoechinosporus from China, Laboulbenia bernaliana on species of Apenes, Apristus, and Philophuga (Coleoptera, Carabidae) from Nicaragua and Panama, L. oioveliicola on Oiovelia machadoi (Hemiptera, Veliidae) from Brazil, L. termiticola on Macrotermes subhyalinus (Blattodea, Termitidae) from the DR Congo, Pluteus cutefractus from Slovenia, Rhizoglomus variabile from Peru, Russula phloginea from China, Stagonosporopsis flacciduvarum on Vitis vinifera from Italy, Strobilomyces huangshanensis from China, Uromyces klotzschianus on Rumex dentatus subsp. klotzschianus from Pakistan. The following new records are reported: Alternaria calendulae on Calendula officinalis from India; A. tenuissima on apple and quince fruits from Iran; Candelariella oleaginescens from Turkey; Didymella americana and D. calidophila on Vitis vinifera from Italy; Lasiodiplodia theobromae causing tip blight of Dianella tasmanica ‘variegata’ from India; Marasmiellus subpruinosus from Madeira, Portugal, new for Macaronesia and Africa; Mycena albidolilacea, M. tenuispinosa, and M. xantholeuca from Russia; Neonectria neomacrospora on Madhuca longifolia from India; Nothophoma quercina on Vitis vinifera from Italy; Plagiosphaera immersa on Urtica dioica from Austria; Rinodina sicula from Turkey; Sphaerosporium lignatile from Wisconsin, USA; and Verrucaria murina from Turkey. Multi-locus analysis of ITS, LSU, rpb1, tef1 sequences revealed that P. immersa, commonly classified within Gnomoniaceae (Diaporthales) or as Sordariomycetes incertae sedis, belongs to Magnaporthaceae (Magnaporthales). Analysis of a six-locus Ascomycota-wide dataset including SSU and LSU sequences of S. lignatile revealed that this species, currently in Ascomycota incertae sedis, belongs to Pyronemataceae (Pezizomycetes, Pezizales).

Bu çalışmada Sis Dağı'ndan 04 Nisan 2018 ve 01 Mayıs 2018 tarihleri arasında 19 istasyondan toplanan likenlerin sistematiği çalışılmıştır. Yaklaşık 2000 örneğin çalışılması sonucu Ascomycetes bölümünden 42 familya içerisinde 109 genusa ait toplam 232 liken (230 tür ve 2 alttür) ve 4 likenikol fungus taksonu tespit edilmiştir. Bu likenlerden, Cladonia uncialis subsp. biuncialis, Dendriscocaulon intricatulum, Lecidea erythrophaea ve Sticta limbata taksonları Türkiye için yeni kayıttır. Cladonia uncialis subsp. biuncialis aynı zamanda Asya için de yeni kayıttır. Ayrıca 46 liken taksonu ve 1 likenikol fungus Trabzon için yeni kayıt iken 9 liken taksonu Giresun için yeni kayıt olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Tüm taksonlar toplandığı istasyonlar, fotoğrafları, substratarı, Türkiye'deki dağılışları ve herbaryum numaraları ile birlikte alfabetik olarak liste halinde verilmiştir. In this study systematic of lichens collected from 19 stations in Sis Mountain between 04 April 2018 and 01 May 2018 have been studied. A total of 232 lichen (230 species and 2 subspecies) and 4 lichenicolous fungi, belonging 109 genera of 42 families in Asomycetes, have been identified by studying approximately 2000 specimens. Of them Cladonia uncialis subsp. biuncialis, Dendriscocaulon intricatulum, Lecidea erythrophaea and Sticta limbata are new records for Turkey. C. uncialis subsp. biuncialis is also new to Asia. On the other hand 46 lichens and 1 lichenicolous fungus are new records for Trabzon while 9 lichen species are new to Trabzon. Background/aim: The genetic background of Turner syndrome (TS) is highly variable. The correlation between genotype and phenotype is not yet well understood. The aim of this study was to describe the frequencies and distributions of Turner karyotypes and to discuss the phenotype/genotype relation in a very large group of individuals with TS. Materials and methods: The karyotype results of 248 female participants were evaluated retrospectively.Results: Of 248 females with the Turner phenotype, 14.5% had normal karyotypes and 85.5% had Turner karyotypes. About 72.2% of the abnormalities were numerical aberrations and 27.8% were structural aberrations. The most frequent karyotype was monosomy X, which was found in 135 females (63.7%), followed by 44 mosaics (21%), 40 isochromosomes of the long and short arms of chromosome X (19.1%), and 17 deletions of the short and long arms of chromosome X (8.0%). One case of Robertsonian translocation and one case of mosaic TS with marker chromosome were detected. Conclusion: This study shows the frequency and distribution of karyotypes in females with TS. There is great value to be gleaned from studies of females with TS in furthering our understanding of the atypical clinical features associated with TS. Studies involving genetic analyses will be necessary to examine gene expression profiles in girls with TS and identify potential candidate genes underlying the atypical clinical features associated with TS.

Aggressive behavior and hyperactivity are neurodevelopmental diseases with unknown pathogenesis. Pericentric inv(10)(p11.2;q21.2) mutation is frequently encountered in cytogenetic laboratories. This mutation is accepted as a polymorphic variant and is phenotypically silent, but in some cases it has been associated with neurodevelopmental diseases like autism. After blood culturing, standard chromosome obtaining procedure was applied to patients. In this study, clinical and cytogenetical findings of a boy with developmental delay, mental and motor retardation, attention deficit and hyperactivity have been reported. As a result of chromosome analysis, on chromosome 10, a large pericentric inversion between p11.1 and q22.q bands has been found. Karyotype analysis was also performed to mother, father and siblings of the patient and they have been found to have normal karyotype. It is plausible to consider a relation between inv(10) and some behavioral problems. Additionally, molecular studies targeting 10p-q critical region will be more informative for the true identification of this disease., Agresif davranış ve hiperaktivite, nedeni ve patogenezi bilinmeyen genetik nörogelişimsel hastalıklardır. Perisentrik inv(10)(p11.2;q21.2) mutasyonu sitogenetik laboratuarlarında sıklıkla tanımlanmaktadır. Bu olgu fenotipik olarak sessizdir ve polimorfik bir varyant olduğu düşünülmektedir ancak bazı hastalarda otizm gibi nörogelişimsel hastalıklarla ilişkilendirilmiştir. Bir erkek çocuğunun, G-bantlama boya tekniği kullanılarak karyotip incelemesi yapıldı. Bu çalışmada; gelişme geriliği, mental motor retardasyonu, dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite hastalığı olan bir erkek çocuğunun klinik ve sitogenetik bulguları rapor edildi. Kromozom analizi sonucunda, 10. kromozomun p11.1 ve q22.1 bantları arasındaki bölgeyi kapsayan geniş bir perisentrik inversiyon saptandı. Probandın anne, baba ve kardeşlerinin karyotiplerinin normal olduğu bulundu. Bulgumuz, inv(10)"un davranış bozukluğu hastalıkları ile ilişkili olabileceğini düşündürmektedir. Bununla birlikte, moleküler çalışmalar, hastalığın patogenezine dahil olan 10p-q kritik bölgesinde yer alan genlerin bulunmasına ve hastalığın daha iyi tanımlanmasına yardımcı olacaktır.

Multiple linear regression analysis is a frequently used method, both in social sciences and health sciences. The question below becomes important when an estimation of Beta coefficients obtained from multiple linear regression analyses is applied to studies with small sample size. The question is, “Can we generalise Beta coefficients obtained regarding the whole population?”. The aim of this study is to find the answer to this question by applying the Jackknife technique and review the relevant literature, Gerek sosyal bilimlerde gerekse sağlık bilimlerinde oldukça kullanılan bir yöntem olan çoklu doğrusal regresyonun, az örnek sayısı içeren bir veri tabanına uygulanması sonucunda elde edilen Beta katsayılarına ait tahminlerin ilgili anakitle için genelleştirilip genelleştirilemeyeceği sorusu oldukça önemlidir. Bu derlemede, Jackknife tekniği uygulayarak Beta katsayılarının örneğe özel bir durum nedeniyle anlamlı olduğuna yanıt aranmış ve sonuçlarımız ilgili literatür ışığında gözden geçirilmiştir.

Purpose: Mental retardation is a common handicap (2-3% of the general population) with an unknown cause in more than 50% of mentally retarded patients. Important causes are chromosome abnormalities which are detectable in 4-28% of cases, depending on the patient selection and techniques used. Aim of the study was to determine possible association between atypic facial appearance, mental retardation and the translocation [t(16;19)(q24;q12)x2] between two copy of non homolog chromosomes. Materials and Methods: Chromosomal analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes from the proband and her family were performed with standart protocols at the Cukurova University hospital in Turkey. Results: We assessed the second and third generation of the family in which the translocation between chromosomes 16 and 19 segregates: one of the three progenies with the karyotype 46,XY, t(16;19)(q24;q12) was heterozygote for the translocation and presented normal phenotype. One of the three progenies with the karyotype 46,XY presented normal phenotype also and the third with the karyotype 46,XY [t(16;19)(q24;q12)x2] was the proband. The parents were consanguinous, heterozygote for the translocation, and presented normal phenotype. Conclusions: Atypialc facial appearance and mental retardation could be associated with the homozygote translocation. These findings can be used in clinical genetics and may be used as an effective tool for reproductive guidance and genetic counseling., Giriş: Zeka geriliği, genel populasyonda %2-3 gibi oldukça yüksek bir oranda bulunan ve vakaların %50"sinden fazlasında sebebi bulunamayan bir sağlık problemidir. En önemli nedenlerinden birisi kromozom düzensizlikleri olup hasta seçimi ve kullanılan yöntemlere bağlı olarak zeka özürlü vakaların %4-28"inde saptanmaktadır. Özellikle, kromozomların subtelomerik bölgelerinde gözlenen yeniden düzenlenmeler, zeka geriliği ve/veya malformasyon sendromlarında en önemli neden olarak kaydedilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, anormal yüz görünümü ve zeka geriliği ile homolog olmayan kromozomların her iki eşleri arasında görülen translokasyon [t(16;19)(q24;q12)x2] arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Materyal ve Metod: Çalışmamızda ÇÜ Balcalı Hastanesi Pediatrik Nöroloji polikliniğinden anormal yüz görünümü ve zeka geriliği tanısı ile Anabilim Dalımız Genetik laboratuvarına kromozom analizi için gönderilen 15 yaşındaki kız çocuğunun 72 saatlik lenfosit kültürü standart protokollere uygun olarak yapıldı. Bulgular: Yapılan kromozom analizinde hastanın, 16. ve 19. kromozomlarının her iki eşleri arasında dengeli homozigot translokasyona [t(16;19)(q24;q12)x2] sahip olduğu bulundu. Buna göre, ebeveynlerin de karyotip analizleri yapıldı. Annenin ve babanın bu translokasyonu heterozigot olarak taşıdığı belirlendi. Sonuç: Çok nadir olarak gözlenen homozigot dengeli translokasyonun [t(16;19)(q24;q12)x2] varlığı indeks olguya ebeveynlerden geçmiş olup, bu yeniden düzenlenmenin hem homozigot halde olması hem de subtelomerik bölgede gerçekleşmesi nedeni ile anormal yüz görünümü ve zeka geriliğinin geliştiği söylenebilir.

ÖZET Habituel Spontan Abortus ve Kötü Obstetrik Anamnez Olgularında Kromozomal Polimorfizm Kromozomal polimorf izmin habituel spontan abortus (HSA) ve kötü obstetrik anamnez (KOA) denek gruplarında yeri ve önemini anlamak amacıyla yapılan bu çalışmada C- ve NOR-bantlama yöntemleri uygulandı. Denek ve kontrol grupları 30 'ar çiftten oluşturuldu (toplam 180 kişi). Her vakadan 20 metafaz plağı değerlendirildi. C-bantlama yönteminde kromozomların sentromer bölgeleri ile Y kromozomunda uzun kolun 1/2-1/3 distal kesimi koyu boya almaktadır. Özellikle 1,9,16 ve Y kromozomunda boyanan heterokromatin bölgeler polimorfizm göstermektedir. Çalışmamızda kromozomlardaki heterokromatin bölgelerin boyutları 5 puanlık sisteme göre değerlendirildi. Sonuçta, denek grupları (HSA ve KOA) ile kontrol arasındaki fark, Ki- kare yöntemine göre anlamlı bulundu. NOR-bantlama yönteminde akrosentrik kromozomların (13, 14, 15, 21, 22) kısa kolları koyu boyanmaktadır. NOR-bantlama yönteminde bant örüntüleri sayı ve boyut açısından polimorfizm göstermektedir. İnsanda görülen ortalama NOR sayısı 4 -10 'dur. Yapılan istatistiksel değerlendirme sonucu, HSA grubu kadınlarında 21., erkeklerinde ise 22. kromozom dışında aradaki fark anlamlı bulunmadı. Sonuç olarak; seçilen denek gruplarında G-bantlamanın yanı sıra NOR ve özellikle de C-bant yapılması uygun görülmektedir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Kromozom, Polimorfizm, C-bantlama, NOR- bantlama. VIII ABSTRACT Chromosomal Polymorphism in the Cases of Habitual Spontaneous Abortus and Bad Obstetric Anamneses In this study, C- and NOR-banding techniques were used to determine the occurence and importance of chromosomal polymorphism in the cases of habitual spontaneous abortus (HSA) and bad obstetric anamneses (BOA). Subject and control groups were composed of 30 couples, each (a total of 180 cases). Twenty metaphase plaques were evaluated for each case. In the C-banding technique; centromere region of the chromosomes, and 1/2-1/3 distal region of the long arm of Y chromosome were stained dark. Heterochromatin regions stained in the chromosomes 1,9,16 and Y, especially showed polymorphism. In this study, sizes of heterochromatin regions in the chromosomes were evaluated on the basis of 5 -point system, and the difference between the subject and control groups was found to be significant when analysed by Chi-Square test. In the NOR-banding technique, short arms of acrocentric chromosomes (13,14,15,21,22) were stained dark. In this technique, the banding patterns showed polimorphism in terms of number and size. The average number of NOR observed in the humans is about 4-10. Except chromosome 21 in the females and chromosome 22 in the males, the difference was found to be nonsignificant in the HSA group. Overall evaluation of our results led to the conclusion that NOR-and especially C-banding should be performed in these subject groups, besides the G- banding technique.
