FireWasp is a medium-sized compound helicopter designed for aerial forest firefighting. As part of the DLR Design Challenge 2022, the aircraft is designed, a mission and performance calculation are performed, and the necessary ground infrastructure is described. For all technologies an entry into service by 2030 is guaranteed. FireWasp combines the positive characteristics of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters to become the aerial firefighting vehicle of the future. To enhance the safety of firefighters, the compound helicopter features technologies that enable remote control as well as the ability to operate autonomously. The fleet of compound helicopters is controlled from a mobile ground station and can be deployed anywhere. During the entire development process, the focus lies on maximising firefighting capabilities. Lastly, the payload system of FireWasp is a modular design, so that modules for other purposes than firefighting can be integrated.

Objective: In this study, the incidence of Trichomonas vaginalis was investigated in samples taken from patients with pre-vaginitis using different culture methods and it was tried to determine which culture method is more suitable for isolation of parasitic pathway from the clinical material. Methods: It was examined that patients applied to the hospital with vaginitis pre-diagnosis between the dates of November 2015 - June 2016 in this study . The vaginal swab samples of 100 female patients the 30 age of whom varied between 18 and 68 were examined with InPouch TV system, Cysteine Pepton Liver Maltose (CPLM) and Trichomonas Broth (TB) culture methods. Results: At the end of the study, T. vaginalis was determined in 4 (4.0%) of 100 patients in all the media used in the study. While T. vaginalis stayed alive in CPLM and TB media until the sixth and seventh day, it was detected that it remained alive until the twelfth day in 35 InPouch TB medium. It was determined that the parasite reproduced in the InPouch TV and TB media more intensely and rapidly and followed a normal course in the CPLM medium. Conclusion: As a result, in this study, four (4%) of 100 patients with vaginitis who were admitted to the outpatient clinic were found positive in three different culture media. The most suitable culture in terms of isolation and identification of T. vaginalis was evaluated as InPouch TV in terms of the length of life of the trophozoites in culture and as shortness of the isolation period. © 2018, Refik Saydam National Public Health Agency (RSNPHA).

WOS: 000427284300021, Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) is a protozoan parasite that infects the urogenital tract of both women and men worldwide. Trichomoniasis can cause serious symptoms if untreated. Metronidazole is the drug of choice for the treatment of trichomoniasis. In recent years metronidazole-resistant T. vaginalis has often been mentioned in clinical isolates. The aim of this study was to determine the conventional and molecular methods to determine metronidazole-resistant T. vaginalis, which is seen commonly and to discuss the possible reasons for this. Samples taken from patients diagnosed with T. vaginalis from the gynaecology and obstetrics clinic between April 2015 and June 2016 were evaluated for metronidazole-resistance using molecular and conventional methods. A total of 170 patients were examined and T. vaginalis was determined in 6 (3.5%) patients. Metronidazole resistance was determined in 2 (33.3%) of the 6 clinical isolates as a result of the molecular and conventional tests applied. Metronidazole resistance was determined using nitroreductase genes ntr4(Tv) and ntr6(Tv). These findings suggest that metronidazole-resistance T. vaginalis strains can be determined in laboratory samples of cases with trichomoniasis. In view of the emergence and frequency of multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis and consequences of acquired resistance to clinically used drugs, we undertook the design and synthesis of novel prototypes that possess the advantage of the two pharmacophores of thiourea and 1,3,4-thiadiazole in a single molecular backbone. Three compounds from our series were distinguished from the others by their promising activity profiles against Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain H(37)Rv. Compounds 11 and 19 were the most active representatives with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 10.96 and 11.48 mu m, respectively. Compound 15 was shown to inhibit M. tuberculosis strain H(37)Rv with an MIC value of 17.81 mu m. Cytotoxicity results in the Vero cell line showed that these three derivatives had selectivity indices between 1.8 and 8.7. In order to rationalize the biological results of our compounds, molecular docking studies with the enoyl acyl carrier protein reductase (InhA) of M. tuberculosis were performed and compounds 11, 15, and 19 were found to have good docking scores in the range of -7.12 to -7.83 kcal/mol. Furthermore these adhesions may cause morbidity and sometimes mortality for patients, and also are a financial burden to the health system. Materials and Methods: Cecum abrasion was performed in all rats and solutions containing saline to group 1, 5-fluorouracil to group 2, cisplatin to group 3, paclitaxel to the group 4, and mitomycin-C were administered into the abdomen of the groups, respectively. The intra-abdominal adhesions were scored after the macroscopic evaluation. Results: Among the chemotherapeutic drugs, paclitaxel significantly increases occurring of intra-abdominal adhesions in comparison with the control group and the other drugs according to the evaluation of scoring and statistical studies. Conclusion: It is suggested to use the drugs which have a proven anti-adhesion feature or barriers to the patients who are going to be applied intraperitoneal chemotherapy with paclitaxel.

WOS: 000372378400009, PubMed ID: 27172744, Introduction: The objective of this study was to assess the outcome of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) plus early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (EPIC) in patients with advanced gynecological malignancies. Materials and Methods: A retrospective series of 51 patients with advanced gynecologic cancer, evaluated between May 2008 to February 2014. Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) and Completeness of Cytoreduction (CCR) score were used in the study group. The study group consisted of the cancers of ovarian, fallopian tube, endometrial, and uterine sarcomas. Results: Mean PCI score of the study group was 18, and the postoperative complications were similar with the literature. Patients were followed in a period of 15 days to 64 months and the mean survival time was 22.8 months. Fifty-two percent of the patients were alive without evidence of the disease and overall one-year survival was found 56%. Conclusions: The authors concluded that CRS, HIPEC, EPIC, and peritonectomy are a crucial options in patients with advanced gynecological cancers.

Due to a continuing effort to develop new antiviral agents, a series of 1-[4-(methanesulfonamido)-3-phenoxyphenyl]-3-alkyl/aryl thioureas 3a-i have been synthesized by the reaction of alkyl/aryl isothiocyanates with 4-amino-2-phenoxymethanesulfonanilide. These derivatives were structurally characterized by the use of spectral techniques and evaluated for their anticancer and antiviral activities. None of the tested compounds showed significant anticancer properties on A549 and L929 cell lines. All synthesized compounds 3a-i were evaluated in vitro against HIV-1 (IIIB) and HIV-2 (ROD) strains in MT-4 cells, as well as other selected viruses such as HSV-1, HSV-2, Coxsackie virus B4, Sindbis virus and varicella-zoster virus using HEL, HeLa and Vero cell cultures. Compound 3b was able to block HIV replication with almost 100% maximum protection at 125 mu g/ml, and IC50 values of 54.9 mu g/ml and 65.9 mu g/ml against HIV-1 and HIV-2, respectively. The aim of this study is to estimate weaning weight (WW) using six body measurements (withers height (WH), body length (BL), chest circumference (CC), leg circumference (LC), body depth (BD), and width of chest behind shoulders (WCS)) measured at weaning period by factor scores in multiple regression model. For this aim, a total of 94 Norduz lambs were used. "Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy" and Bartlett's test of sphericity were used to determine whether factor analysis was suitable for data studied. According to results of these criteria, the data was found to be most appropriate for applying factor analysis. Three factors whose eigenvalues greater than 1 were selected as independent variables for multiple regression analysis. It was concluded that that three factors had significant-positive effects on weaning weight and all three factors explained approximately 80% of variation in weaning weight.

In this paper, we define and study statistical analogue of convergence and Cauchy for double sequences on intuitionistic fuzzy normed spaces. Then we give a useful characterization for statistically convergent double sequences. Furthermore, we display an example such that our method of convergence is stronger than the usual convergence for double sequences on intuitionistic fuzzy normed spaces.
