CHERRIES ,MINERALS in nutrition ,COPPER ,FRUIT ,HIGH temperatures ,SWEET cherry - Abstract
Factors such as pollinators, pollen quality, pollinator variety, high temperatures, and nutrients affect the fruit set in sweet cherry trees. In this study, the effects of different doses of N, P, and K applied from the soil on fruit set of sweet cherry were investigated. Flower bud minerals (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn, and B), fruit set ratios (FSR), and yield values were determined to compare treatments for 3 years (2015–2017). FSR (%) and yield (kg/tree) values ranged between 14.31–21.76 and 11.11–14.88 for N, 11.94–22.64 and 11.23–14.82 for P, 12.38–17.39 and 12.67–13.68 for K, respectively. N affected fruit bud N, Mg, Fe, Mn, and B concentrations, FSR and yield. Parameters other than FSR increased with increasing N doses and the highest values were obtained from the highest N treatment. FSR of the highest N dose was the same as the control treatment, but lower in the other treatments. P affected fruit bud P and Mg concentrations, FSR and yield. Fruit bud P and Mg concentrations increased as compared to the control treatment. The change in FSR and yield values could not be associated with the application dose, but showed linear changes with each other. K was effective only on FSR, the lowest values were obtained at the highest dose, while it was similar at the other doses. Fruit set ratio of sweet cherry trees under present experimental conditions could not be associated with the change in fruit bud nutrients due to N, P and K fertilization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aim of study: This study was conducted to determine the usability of some clonal rootstocks of apple (MM 106 and MM 111), pear (Fox 11), and quince (Quince A) for hawthorn trees propagation. Area of study: Fruit Research Institute, Isparta and Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Hatay, Türkiye. Material and methods: ‘Sultan’ hawthorn cultivar was budded on the following clonal rootstocks: pear Fox 11, quince A, and apple MM 106 and MM 111. Plants of hawthorn seedlings (Crataegus azarolus L.) budded with ‘Sultan’ cv. were used as control. External visual diagnosis of the scion-rootstock graft combinations was performed by observing visual symptoms in budded trees growing in nursery conditions, as well as anatomic and histological investigations of the incompatibility in the laboratory. Main results: In this study, healthy scion development and callus tissue in the graft region were formed in the seedling rootstock as well as on Fox11 and Quince A clonal rootstocks. In contrast, MM 106 and MM 111 apple rootstocks showed incompatibility symptoms, with insufficient scion vigor and unstructured callus tissue development. Research highlights: ‘Tanslocated’ and ‘located’ graft incompatibility symptoms were observed in Sultan/MM 106 and Sultan/MM 111 combinations. Further studies are necessary to confirm the early good compatibility found in nursery conditions, testing the effect of those clonal rootstocks from different species (Fox11 and Quince A) on vigor, yield, and fruit quality traits in orchard conditions.

İşletmelerin yaşadıkları sorunlarınçözümünde, kooperatifler/birlikler, Gıda Tarım ve Hayvancılık Bakanlığı,Ekonomi Bakanlığı ve araştırma kuruluşları/üniversitelerden katkı bekledikleribelirlenmiştir., The demand for fruit tree sapling in the worldcontinues to increase. Turkey, which is expanding this market, is not able toget enough share despite the high potential. To reach the current potential, stakeholders ought to know, especially in the production stage, how theyevaluate the sector and what their expectations are in the future for thisimportant issue. Therefore, 25 public and 93 private sectors were interviewedface to face and the enterprises' views and expectations were determined.Overall, 32.26% of private sector concluded that the current situation inTurkey nurseries sector is a good position in generally. As the size of thebusiness scale decreased, the ratio of the enterprises evaluating the situationof the sector increased as much. Private farms stated that the sector hasconstantly developing because of the introduction of new varieties, thecontinuous development of technology, the start of more encouraging R&Dstudies, the introduction of government policies and the change to certifiedproduction. The public institutions/organizations stated that the sector has apromising future, constantly developing, and they will develop faster if the arrangementsfor the solution of the existing problems are made. It has been determined thatenterprises expect contributions from cooperatives/unions, Ministry of Food,Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Economy and researchinstitutions/universities.

Çeşitlere göre Mondial Gala % 88,11, Braeburn % 86,06 ve Red Chief çeşidinde % 67,46 oranında 1. sınıf fidan elde edilmiştir., This research was carried out at the Eğirdir Horticultural Research Institute, in the years 2006?2007. The aim of the research was to study the advantages of apple nursery growing greenhouse rather than outdoor conditions. Scions of Red Chief (dwarf), Breaburn (semi dwarf) and Mondial Gala (vigorous)apple varieties were grafted by the bench grafting and chip budding techniques on MM 106 and M 9 apple rootstocks. In result to evaluation of all factors, it was found percentage of graft survival between 82% (greenhouse) and 69% (outdoor), sapling height 84,86 (outdoor) -146 cm (greenhouse), shoot diameter 6,84 (outdoor)?10,71mm (greenhouse). Sapling development grafted on MM 106 apple rootstock morethan M9 apple rootstocks in greenhouse and outdoor conditions. In the other hand, development of Mondial Gala apple varieties was higher than Breaburn and Red Chief varieties in every conditions. As graft techniques graft survival ratio in bench graft while 82%, this ratio 64% in chip budding. In addition to sapling height, shoot diameter and shoot height was not significant. Ratio of first quality sapling was found 95,35% in greenhouse and 66,74 at outdoors. This ratio was found at M 9 (72,77%) and MM 106 (88,31%) rootstocks while it was found that Mondial Gala, Braeburn and Red Chief cultivars 88,11, 86,06 and 67,46% respectively.
