Research background: Recent research conducted in the field of entrepreneurship focuses on a better understanding of specific features of family businesses, which, according to estimates, make up 55–90 % of all business entities in EU member states. Foreign studies emphasise the greater resilience of family businesses in the face of adverse changes in their business environment, their ability of long-term survival and a higher degree of socially responsible behaviour. Purpose of the article: The main objective of this article is to find out whether there are statistically significant differences in performance between family and non-family businesses. The results will be used to determine whether the performance of family businesses differs from that of non-family businesses and to identify the specific features of family business. This information will also be used to enhance our knowledge of family entrepreneurship and to determine whether the conclusions of foreign studies are also valid for family businesses in the Czech Republic. Methods: We compared the results of two sets of data with financial results to identify differences in the performance of family and non-family businesses. Due to the fact that there is currently no register of family businesses, we first had to identify which are family businesses and complement them with non-family businesses. We used the accounting data of almost 8,000 businesses from the years 2014–2018 for this analysis. We defined 44 indicators and tested them using Welch’s t-test. Findings & value added: The analysed sample consists predominantly of small businesses. We identified a total of 30 ratios whose values differ statistically at a significance level of 5 %, for example current assets to sales, retained earnings to total assets and labour cost to sales. We can deduce from the results that there are differences in performance between family and non-family businesses.

Diploma thesis is focused on the administration of the printed journalism by Ministry of Information (from October 1948 Ministry of Information and Education). Ministry was responsible for administration of the printed journalism from May 1945 to January 1953, when was dissolved. Thesis is divided into seven main chapters. The first one sets the topic into Czechoslovak history in years 1945-1953. The second section is focused on the restoration of Czechoslovak Republic during Second World War via perspective of legal and constitutional development. The third chapter characterizes the authority of the government and the ministry in the years 1945-1953. The fourth part deals with administration of the printed journalism before May 1945, which is structured according to historical periods. Bachelor thesis is focused on the printed journalism in Third Czechoslovak Republic. Topic of the thesis is studied in three fundamental fields - in institutional, associational and in opinion of journalists. Thesis is divided into seven main chapters. The first one describes and contextualizes specific period of Third Czechoslovak Republic including period view of the printed journalism and summary of main printed newspapers and magazines. The second part focuses on role of ministry of information, which was responsible for administration of the printed journalism, including her legislative determination. It is going to be research the ration of newsprint for publishing house and analysis of censorship of content in the press in this chapter. The associational life of Czech journalists describes the third part, which deals with Union of Czech Journalists (constitution and activity of organization and carrying out retribution within journalists).The fourth chapter characterises, how communist takeover in February 1948 affected the printed journalism. Bachelor thesis is focused on the Union of Friends of the USSR in Czechoslovakia. Association was established in 1930 and it went out of existence in 1948, when it was transformed into the Union of Czechoslovak-Soviet Friendship. This association presented achievements of building of socialism in the Soviet Union and informed about social and cultural statement in the USSR. Author describes development of this association and his activities. Thesis is divided into six main chapters. The first chapter describes Soviet Union in its participation in the foreign policy between years 1922, when USSR was established, and 1948, when existence of Union of Friends of the USSR in Czechoslovakia ended. The second chapter deals with the definition of this association and its legal definition. The third one focuses on the other organizations, which activities were specialised in Soviet Union, it is briefly dealt with Society for Cultural and Economic Relations with the USSR. Introduction:Even in the era of novel targeted therapies for the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) patients, such as BTK, PI3K and BCL2 inhibitors, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantations (alloHCT) will remain an important treatment option for a subset of patients with very high risk CLL. The current study focused on the impact of center and procedure-related factors on outcomes after alloHCT, taking into account the impact of patient- and disease-related risk factors. Patients and Methods:Data of 684 CLL patients who received a first alloHCT between 2000 and 2011 were analyzed. Their data were collected as part of the EBMT CLL Data Quality Initiative. Outcomes of interest were Event-Free Survival (EFS) up to 5 years after transplantation and mortality in the first 100 days after alloHCT. Outcomes were analyzed by means of the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards models with a frailty (random effects) component to take into account unexplained center heterogeneity. The following factors describing center characteristics or the transplant procedure were analyzed: experience in alloHCT in general and, for CLL specifically, accreditation by the Joint Accreditation Committee-ISCT & EBMT (JACIE), Gross National Income (GNI)/capita based on purchasing power parity (PPP) (GNI/cap), donor type, donor-patient sex-match, type of conditioning, stem cell source and T-cell depletion (TCD). Results:Five-year EFS of the whole cohort was 37% (95% Confidence Interval, 33%-42%), Day-100 survival was 90% (88%-92%). Experience of the transplant center was measured by the number of all alloHCTs, and alloHCTs for patients with CLL respectively. The median total number of alloHCTs per center per year was 45 (range 0-169) and the median number of CLL alloHCTs was only 2 per center per year (range 0-19). Greater experience with transplantation of patients with CLL (Hazard Ratio (HR) 0.96 per additional transplant, p=0.002), JACIE accreditation (HR 0.7, p=0.045) and a higher GNI/cap (HR 0.4, 95% CI 0.2-0.96, p=0.04) showed a protective impact on 5-year EFS in the Cox model. In vivo TCD with alemtuzumab (HR 1.5 compared to no TCD, p=0.03) and a female donor for a male patient (HR 1.4 compared to a male donor for a male patient, p=0.02) were the only procedure-related factors significantly associated with EFS. Event-Free Survival after in vivo TCD with Anti-Thymocyte-Globulin or after ex vivo TCD was comparable to EFS without TCD (HR 0.9, 0.7-1.3, p=0.6; HR 0.9, 0.5-1.6, p=0.8). Non-myeloablative conditioning did not have a negative impact on 5-year EFS, and exposed patients to a lower risk of non-relapse mortality. Measured and unmeasured center characteristics did not have a significant impact on 100-day mortality. Even when correcting for patient-, procedure- and center-related characteristics, there was still significant variation in center outcome, expressed by center-specific HRs derived from the frailty models, ranging from 0.6 to 1.2. Their impact is illustrated in a model-based plot for EFS (see Figure) which shows outcomes for three reference patients with the same characteristics who would be transplanted in three centers with the same measured characteristics but with the highest, average and lowest HRs in the dataset. These unexplained center effects likely represent a mixture of differences which could apply to the location of the transplant center, unmeasured characteristics of the patient population transplanted at this center, selection criteria which were not reported and factors determining the success of the transplant procedure which might differ between centers. Conclusion: We have confirmed that both center- and procedure-related factors have a significant impact on the EFS of patients with CLL undergoing alloHCT. Our results may help to interpret outcomes of single or multicenter studies better. Since non-myeloablative conditioning did not have a negative impact on EFS and exposed patients to a lower risk of non-relapse mortality, this approach should be favored for future alloHCT for CLL. Successful achievement of strategic goals requires an effective performance management system, i.e. determining the appropriate indicators measuring the rate of goal achievement. These indicators are known as key performance indicators or value drivers according to the principles of value-based management. Performance is monitored by both financial and non-financial indicators. In order to gain further insight into the topic, this paper presents the results of research identifying the non-financial factors that affect the performance of mechanical engineering enterprises in the Czech Republic. The data were obtained from a questionnaire survey of the enterprises’ senior management. The results of the survey were evaluated on the basis of response rate. The evaluation also included a comparison of the managers’ opinions and the performance of their enterprises – measured by return on equity. The results of the analyses show that the factors most detrimental to enterprise performance include the incompetence of responsible employees and the disregard of the customers’ requirements. Factors most frequently shown to increase the value of the enterprise are the product quality, product innovation and flexibility in meeting customers’ requirements.

In this thesis entitled " The prognostic significance of molecular markers of acute myeloid leukemia on the outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation " the author deals with the following issues: 1. In the literature overview: the author characterizes the epidemiology, patogenesis, diagnostics, prognosis and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, focusing on evaluation of different prognostic markers in relation to the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia mainly using allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. 1. The methodological section characterizes the following: a) Groups of patients and methods of clinical evaluation in:  Detailed characteristics of 60 patients with acute myeloid leukemia with normal karyotype and NPM1 gene mutations in complete remission who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation on Haematology and oncology department of University Hospital Pilsen in the years 2005-2014. Purpose of the article: The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the integration between the various sectors of the commodity markets, equity index and bond index. Moreover there are also analyzed the risk and return characteristics of individual indices. Methodology/methods: First there is evaluated the correlation trend of individual variables. For this purpose we used a nonparametric Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Next method used in the paper is Sharpe ratio. The Sharpe ratio is developed to measure excess return above the risk free rate relative to the standard deviation of returns. Sharpe ratio is calculated by taking monthly data of individual indices. Scientific aim: In connection to the process of financialization of commodity markets which is caused by the sharp increase of amount of money flowing into the commodity markets question arises: What impact does this process have? In this paper we contribute to the discussion about increasing integration between commodities and financial markets in the period of financialization of commodity markets. Findings: Period of financialization of commodity markets was associated with an increase in correlations between stocks and commodities (especially since the second half of 2008), this trend is not permanent, as shown by the sharp drop in correlation at all commodity sectors in 2013. There are observed considerable differences in the correlation between individual commodity indices and equity and bond indices. There were no signs of integration of commodities and bond markets. Conclusions: Commodity assets belong to a specific class of assets that are still considered as alternative investments in comparison to the conventional financial assets. This paper analyzes integration between commodities and financial markets. We found that there is considerable difference between risk/return characteristics for each class of assets and we also found that in the long term commodity assets can contribute to reducing the unsystematic risk of the investment portfolio.

Purpose of the article: The purpose of this paper is to analyse the distributional properties of financial data, suitable for building a bankruptcy forecast model, in the sense of normality deviation and the existence of outliers. Methodology/methods: In praxis, financial data in the form of financial ratios is very often not normally distributed. A Shapiro-Wilk’s procedure was used to test normality (Shapiro, Wilk, 1965) and a Box-Cox transformation (Box, Cox, 1964) for normalizing financial ratios. Scientific aim: We would like to contributed to the previous pieces of research in following ways. Firstly, by analysing a greater range of accounting ratios or indicators (i.e. 44), secondly, by focusing on data of a different character (data suitable for building a bankruptcy forecast model), thirdly, by explaining cases in which the parameter l is not possible to estimate, and finally fourthly, identifying a possible cause of transformation failure in achieving normality of financial ratios. Findings: Before the transformation none of the analysed financial ratios met the condition of one-dimensional normality, not even on the 1-% level. After transformation, the condition of one-dimensional normality was met, at the 1-% level, by 34% of the analysed financial ratios. The same condition, but at the 5 or 10-% level, was met by 27% of the analysed financial ratios. The parameter l was not possible to estimate in the case of 18% of financial ratios. Conclusions: The condition of normality for untransformed Czech bankruptcy data seems almost as impossible to fulfil. This conclusion implies the use of non-parametric methods, such as artificial neural networks. However, the comparison of the parametric method’s performance using untransformed or transformed data is the subject of further research.
