Background: Obesity has the potential to impact thyroid function through various pathways, even in individuals considered euthyroid. The relationship between thyroid function and body mass index (BMI) remains a subject of ongoing debate. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to ascertain the correlation existing among thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroid hormones, and BMI in patients experiencing thyroid dysfunction within the context of the Smart Health Tower. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Smart Health Tower in Sulaimani city from November 9, 2021, to March 1, 2022. One hundred and sixty-six patients with thyroid dysfunction (128 individuals had hypothyroidism, eight individuals had hyperthyroidism, and 30 individuals were the other type of thyroid dysfunction) were enrolled in this study. Their mean age was 43.62 ± 11.17 and 50.6% of the participation were male. Patients were divided into four groups based on BMI value: Underweight (BMI <18.5 kg/m²), normal (BMI: 18.5–24.9 kg/m²), overweight (BMI: 25–29.9 kg/m²), and obese (BMI ≥30 kg/m²). Results: The highest rate of age group was between (30 and 40) years old (84%) of them were male. The participants with higher BMI had higher TSH and this trend continued from underweight to Obese. The mean TSH of the underweight group was 0.47 ± 0.61 mIU/L, the normal weight group 1.5 ± 1.91 mIU/L, the overweight group 2.8± 3.87 mIU/L and the obese group 2.7 ± 2.37 mIU/L. Conclusion: A significant relationship between serum TSH and BMI and mean TSH increased as BMI increased. Further large-scale data from the population are required to confirm these findings. Background: Hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney failure end-stage renal disease (ESRD) will encounter various pressures, functional limitations, dietary restrictions, pharmaceutical side effects, workplace challenges, as well as social and dynamic changes. Health problems and a lower quality of life, in general, can arise from the roles that gender stereotypes and sex discrimination impose. Within this research, we sought to determine the burden of female hemodialysis patients in Sulaymaniyah City and to examine the impact of several sociodemographic parameters on this burden. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative design, a convenient selection of 53 female patients with ESRD receiving hemodialysis was comprised. The study was carried out at the Shar Teaching Hospital’s dialysis department in Sulaymaniyah City. Results: The study participants’ mean age was determined to be 55.8 ± 14.6 years, with the majority (41.0%), falling between the age range of 41 and 80 years. 100% of the research sample reported feeling fatigued. The results indicate that there were significant associations found between age groups (P = 0.030), level of education, marital status, and the assessment of female patients’ burden of undergoing hemodialysis. The majority of participants (41.5%) had low assessments of female patients’ burden. Conclusion: Most of the instances involved illiterate housewives who had been on hemodialysis for longer than 10 years. Most research samples exhibited lower energy levels, and almost all patients complained of being fatigued. The assessment of the burden of female patients receiving hemodialysis showed positive correlations with age groups, educational attainment, and marital status. Otherwise, no correlation was observed between the patients’ work, place of residence, length of hemodialysis treatment, and the overall estimate of the burden experienced by female patients. Lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, has prompted extensive research into innovative treatments, including targeted therapies. The present meta-analysis aims to evaluate the efficacy of dasatinib, both as monotherapy and in combination with other therapies, for the treatment of lung cancer. Adhering to the PRISMA guidelines, a meticulous, thorough review of clinical trials was conducted across reputable databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed/MEDLINE, and EMBASE, focusing on studies published in English up to May 5th, 2024. Inclusion criteria were restricted to randomized clinical trials (RCTs) assessing the efficacy of dasatinib, either as a standalone therapy or in combination with other treatments. The search identified 55 studies, of which nine RCTs met the inclusion criteria: four phase II, three phase I, and two phase I/II. A total of 234 patients participated, with 107 receiving dasatinib alone and 127 undergoing combination therapy. Histological analyses revealed that 79.1% of patients had non-small cell lung cancer, with adenocarcinoma being the predominant subtype (63.8%), followed by squamous cell carcinoma (22.1%). Treatment responses varied, with 52.4% of the patients in the dasatinib alone group experiencing progressive disease, while 38.3% achieved stable disease; by contrast, 29.6% of patients in the combination therapy showed progressive disease. Adverse events, including anemia and fatigue, were more prevalent with combination therapies. Dasatinib treatment shows potential for improving overall survival with fewer adverse events compared with combination therapies in patients with lung cancer; however, large-scale clinical trials are essential to confirm its efficacy as a standalone treatment.
