The self-renewal ability and multipotency of stem cells give them great potential for use in wound healing. Stem cell-derived exosomes, owing to their close biological resemblance to their parent cells, offer a more efficient, safer, and economical approach for facilitating cellular communication and interactions within different environments. This potential makes them particularly valuable in the treatment of both acute and chronic wounds, such as lacerations, burns, and diabetic ulcers. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) enclosed in exosomes, as one of the leading actors of these extracellular microvesicles, through interaction with miRNAs and regulation of various signaling pathways involved in inflammation, angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and migration, could heal the wounds. Exosome-derived lncRNAs from stem cells facilitate extracellular matrix remodeling through interaction between macrophages and fibroblasts. Moreover, alongside regulating the expression of inflammatory cytokines, controlling reactive oxygen species levels, and enhancing autophagic activity, they also modulate immune responses to support wound healing. Regulating the expression of genes and signaling pathways related to angiogenesis, by increasing blood supply and accelerating the delivery of essential substances to the wound environment, is another effect exosomal lncRNAs derived from stem cells for wound healing. These lncRNAs can also enhance skin wound healing by regulating homeostasis, increasing the proliferation and differentiation of cells involved in the wound-healing process, and enhancing fibroblast viability and migration to the injury site. Ultimately, exosome-derived lncRNAs from stem cells offer valuable and novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying improved wound healing. They can pave the way for potential therapeutic strategies, fostering further research for a better future. Meanwhile, exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells, due to their exceptional regenerative properties, as well as the lncRNAs derived from these exosomes, have emerged as one of the innovative tools in wound healing. This review article aims to narrate the cellular and molecular roles of exosome-derived lncRNAs from stem cells in enhancing wound healing with a focus on mesenchymal stem cells. Background: Genetic predispositions have been identified as important factors in male infertility. Among the many genes related to male reproductive function, interleukin 6 (IL-6) has emerged as a key player. Despite the growing recognition of genetic factors in male infertility, the specific association between the IL-6-174 G/C genetic polymorphism and male infertility remains an area that needs further investigation. Objective: This investigation explores the correlation between the IL-6-174 G/C transversion and male infertility. Materials and Methods: In a case-control study, a total of 314 men who referred to the Kashan Infertility Center, Shahid Beheshti hospital, Kashan, Iran, were enrolled for IL-6--174 G/C polymorphism analysis. The study comprised 163 infertile participants as the case group and 151 fertile men as the control group. Following the screening, 2 ml of whole blood was collected from each participant. Cases were categorized into 3 subgroups based on World Health Organization criteria: (i) nonobstructive azoospermia (n = 42), (ii) oligozoospermia (n = 61), and (iii) asthenozoospermia (n = 60). After DNA extraction, genotypes of the samples at the -174 G/C (rs1800795) locus were determined using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Results: Our genetic investigation demonstrated a significant association between the GC genotype and male infertility. Furthermore, a correlation was observed between the heterozygous GC genotype and reduced risk of oligozoospermia and asthenospermia. Additionally, the C allele was correlated with a decreased risk of infertility and specific subgroups such as oligozoospermia and asthenospermia. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the IL-6--174 G/C transversion could potentially serve as a protective genetic factor against male infertility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the association of rs11203366, rs11203367, rs874881, rs2240340 and rs1748033 polymorphisms of protein‐arginine deiminase type 4 (PADI4) gene with the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) through a meta‐analysis that was followed with a bioinformatics approach. The data were collected from reputable articles and underwent quantitative analysis, followed by in silico analysis using some bioinformatics tools. The results showed that rs874881 polymorphism in Latino (G vs. C: OR = 1.35, 95% CI = 1.11–1.65, p = 0.003; GG + CG vs. CC: OR = 2.02, 95% CI = 1.41–2.89, p = 0.0001; CG vs. CC + GG: OR = 1.38, 95% CI = 1.04–1.83, p = 0.027; GG vs. CC: OR = 2.09, 95% CI = 1.35–3.23, p = 0.001; CG vs. CC: OR = 1.98, 95% CI = 1.36–2.87, p = 0.00033) and rs1748033 in Caucasian population (T vs. C: OR = 1.25, 95% CI = 1.07–1.45, p = 0.005; TT vs. CT + CC: OR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.09–1.64, p = 0.005, TT + CT vs. CC: OR = 1.26, 95% CI = 1.09–1.44, p = 0.001; TT vs. CC: OR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.13–2.23, p = 0.007; CT vs. CC: OR = 1.20, 95% CI: 1.04–1.39, p = 0.015) are associated with increased risk of RA. Bioinformatics tools showed the effect of these polymorphisms on gene function. These findings suggest that rs11203366, rs11203367, rs874881 and rs1748033 polymorphisms may be genetic risk factors for RA. Background: Lead (Pb) could be toxic to the female reproductive system, and resveratrol (Res) may overcome this toxicity. Objective: To investigate the Res impact on the catalase (Cat), glutathione peroxidase (Gpx), and superoxide dismutase (Sod) gene expression in the ovary and on the Cat and Gpx enzyme activity in the serum of rats exposed to lead acetate. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 33 female Wistar rats (8-10 wk, 180-200 gr) were divided into 6 groups: a control group (normal saline), a Res group (40 mg/kg), and a Pb group (lead acetate 30 mg/kg). 3 additional groups received lead acetate (30 mg/kg) with Res at 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg for 21 days. Gene expression of Cat, Gpx, and Sod was measured via qPCR, and serum Cat and Gpx activity was assessed using standard methods. Bioinformatics tools were used to evaluate Res effects on gene and protein function. Results: Lead acetate significantly downregulates Cat, Gpx, and Sod gene expression, but Res significantly upregulates gene expression, especially at doses of 40 mg/kg for Cat, 20 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg for Gpx, and 80 mg/kg for Sod. Cat and Gpx enzyme activity increased and decreased in the lead acetate group, respectively. However, Res in all doses decreased only the Cat enzyme activity. Bioinformatics analysis indicates that Res can interact with the promoter regions and cavities of all 3 enzymes. Conclusion: Pb can dysregulate the expression and activity of the studied enzymes. Background. Oxidative stress is involved in pathogenesis of some psychiatric disorders. To examine the role of oxidative stress in the etiopathogenesis of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), we aimed to determine oxidative stress indices, including malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in serum and red blood cells (RBC) membrane, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), serum glutathione (GSH) levels, serum antioxidant vitamins (A and E), and Na+/K+-ATPase activity, in patients with the mentioned disorder vs. healthy controls. Method. 39 OCD patients diagnosed based on Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) and 39 volunteer healthy subjects were included in this study. MDA levels in serum and RBC membrane were measured using fluorometric method. Serum TAC level, serum GSH level, and Na+/K+-ATPase activity were also measured using spectrophotometric methods. Serum levels of vitamins were calculated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Result. There was a significantly higher MDA level in serum (p < 0.0001) and RBC membrane (p = 0.002) of OCD patients compared with those in controls. A significant reduction in vitamin A (p = 0.001) and vitamin E (p = 0.024) levels was found in OCD patients vs. controls. There was significantly lower activity of erythrocyte membrane Na+/K+-ATPase in RBC membrane of OCD patients vs. controls (p < 0.0001). Conclusion. Our findings indicate significantly higher levels MDA in both serum and RBC membrane, lower levels of serum vitamins A and E, and lower activity of membrane Na+/K+-ATPase in OCD patients compared to controls. These suggest an imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant factors in OCD patients that might play a fundamental role in the etiopathogenesis of OCD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The incubation period of COVID‐19 symptoms, along with the proliferation and high transmission rate of the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus, is the cause of an uncontrolled epidemic worldwide. Vaccination is the front line of prevention, and antiinflammatory and antiviral drugs are the treatment of this disease. In addition, some herbal therapy approaches can be a good way to deal with this disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of propolis syrup with Hyoscyamus niger L. extract in hospitalized patients with COVID‐19 with acute disease conditions in a double‐blinded approach. The study was performed on 140 patients with COVID‐19 in a double‐blind, randomized, and multicentral approach. The main inclusion criterion was the presence of a severe type of COVID‐19 disease. The duration of treatment with syrup was 6 days and 30 CC per day in the form of three meals. On Days 0, 2, 4, and 6, arterial blood oxygen levels, C‐reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and white blood cell, as well as the patient's clinical symptoms such as fever and chills, cough and shortness of breath, chest pain, and other symptoms, were recorded and analyzed. Propolis syrup with H. niger L. significantly reduces cough from the second day, relieving shortness of breath on the fourth day, and significantly reduces CRP, weakness, and lethargy, as well as significantly increased arterial blood oxygen pressure on the sixth day compared to the placebo group (p < 0.05). The results in patients are such that in the most severe conditions of the disease 80% < SpO2 (oxygen saturation), the healing process of the syrup on reducing CRP and increasing arterial blood oxygen pressure from the fourth day is significantly different compared with the placebo group (p < 0.05). The use of syrup is associated with a reduction of 3.6 days in the hospitalization period compared with the placebo group. Propolis syrup with H. niger L. has effectiveness in the viral and inflammatory phases on clinical symptoms and blood parameters and arterial blood oxygen levels of patients with COVID‐19. Also, it reduces referrals to the intensive care unit and mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID‐19. So, this syrup promises to be an effective treatment in the great challenge of COVID‐19.
