2. Importin subunit beta‐1 mediates ERK5 nuclear translocation, and its inhibition synergizes with ERK5 kinase inhibitors in reducing cancer cell proliferation

Abstract

The mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) extracellular signal‐regulated kinase 5 (ERK5) is emerging as a promising target in cancer. Indeed, alterations of the MEK5/ERK5 pathway are present in many types of cancer, including melanoma. One of the key events in MAPK signalling is MAPK nuclear translocation and its subsequent regulation of gene expression. Likewise, the effects of ERK5 in supporting cancer cell proliferation have been linked to its nuclear localization. Despite many processes regulating ERK5 nuclear translocation having been determined, the nuclear transporters involved have not yet been identified. Here, we investigated the role of importin subunit alpha (α importin) and importin subunit beta‐1 (importin β1) in ERK5 nuclear shuttling to identify additional targets for cancer treatment. Either importin β1 knockdown or the α/β1 importin inhibitor ivermectin reduced the nuclear amount of overexpressed and endogenous ERK5 in HEK293T and A375 melanoma cells, respectively. These results were confirmed in single‐molecule microscopy in HeLa cells. Moreover, immunofluorescence analysis showed that ivermectin impairs epidermal growth factor (EGF)‐induced ERK5 nuclear shuttling in HeLa cells. Both co‐immunoprecipitation experiments and proximity ligation assay provided evidence that ERK5 and importin β1 interact and that this interaction is further induced by EGF administration and prevented by ivermectin treatment. The combination of ivermectin and the ERK5 inhibitor AX15836 synergistically reduced cell viability and colony formation ability in A375 and HeLa cells and was more effective than single treatments in preventing the growth of A375 and HeLa spheroids. The increased reduction of cell viability upon the same combination was also observed in patient‐derived metastatic melanoma cells. The combination of ivermectin and ERK5 inhibitors other than AX15836 provided similar effects on cell viability. The identification of importin β1 as the nuclear transporter of ERK5 may be exploited for additional ERK5‐inhibiting strategies for cancer therapy.

Abstract

Optical tweezers are tools made of light that enable contactless pushing, trapping, and manipulation of objects, ranging from atoms to space light sails. Since the pioneering work by Arthur Ashkin in the 1970s, optical tweezers have evolved into sophisticated instruments and have been employed in a broad range of applications in the life sciences, physics, and engineering. These include accurate force and torque measurement at the femtonewton level, microrheology of complex fluids, single micro- and nano-particle spectroscopy, single-cell analysis, and statistical-physics experiments. This roadmap provides insights into current investigations involving optical forces and optical tweezers from their theoretical foundations to designs and setups. It also offers perspectives for applications to a wide range of research fields, from biophysics to space exploration.

5. Усунення від права на спадкування як форма цивільно-правової відповідальності

Abstract

Стаття присвячена питанням дослідження усунення від права на спадкування як форми цивільно-правової відповідальності. Наголошено, що усунення від права на спадкування, беззаперечно, виступає як форма цивільно-правової відповідальності, як певна санкція за невиконання позитивних обов’язків, визначених цивільним, сімейним, кримінальним законодавством України. Підкреслимо, що зазначена форма відповідальності пов’язана з порушеннями (не виконанням позитивних цивільно-правових обов’язків), серед яких обов’язки особистого немайнового характеру, пов’язані із захистом особистого немайнового права на життя та здоров’я особи, обов’язки, які випливають із необхідності забезпечити принцип свободи заповіту спадкодавця, обов’язки аліментного характеру, визначені сімейним правом, та обов’язки, які випливають із відносин між батьками і дітьми та порушення вимог сімейного законодавства в частині правозгідності шлюбу. Наголошено, що усунення від права на спадкування є єдиним для цієї форми цивільної відповідальності у своєму роді стягненням, що за своєю правовою природою є подібним до окремих видів покарання та стягнень у цивільному, кримінальному та адміністративному праві. Зазначене стягнення носить субсидіарний характер (є додатковим обтяженням щодо особи, що вчинила правопорушення, яке є наслідком такого усунення). Усунення від права на спадкування виступає і як спосіб захисту прав зацікавленої особи, інтересів суспільства та держави. Таким чином, характерними рисами усунення від права на спадкування як особливої форми цивільно-правової відповідальності є матеріально-правовий (економічний) характер, тобто неможливість брати участь у перерозподілі майнових благ (спадкової маси), на які особа мала б можливість претендувати за інших обставин; стає наслідком порушення особистих немайнових та майнових обов’язків особи або посяганням на особисті немайнові блага; носить додатковий (субсидіарний) характер до іншого виду юридичної відповідальності; може бути віднесена до позадоговірної (деліктної) відповідальності; є наслідком вчинення особою, яка усувається від права на спадкування деліктів, які передбачають обов’язкову ознаку вини як елемента суб’єктивної сторони складу правопорушення (за відсутності вини як елемента складу правопорушення, наприклад, у випадку недійсності шлюбу, про який не знала особа, яка пережила іншого з подружжя, суд може визнати право на спадкування частки того з подружжя, хто помер).

Są również przedstawiane racje za utrzymywaniem przez monoteletów swoistej terminologii, a także wyjaśniana jest istota monoteletyzmu.

Abstract

Przedmiotem badania artykułu są źródła pisane powstałe w kontekście polityki chrystianizacji Żydów bizantyńskich w 2 poł IX w.: polemiczny traktat biskupa Grzegorza z Nicei (844–880) oraz wiersze protosekretarza Krzysztofa (850–900). Celem artykułu jest zbadanie stanowiska wspomnianych autorów wobec polityki chrystianizacji Żydów. Artykuł składa się z czterech części, w których zostały przedstawione informacje o źródłach, zdefiniowani docelowi odbiorcy traktatu metropolity Grzegorza i wierszy protosekretarza Krzysztofa. Dokonano w nich także analizy intencji utworów pisanych w konfrontacji zwolenników i przeciwników polityki chrystianizacji Żydów. Pomimo różnicy między dziełami pod względem gatunków literackich, dzieła te były pisane w celach propagandowych popierając lub sprzeciwiając się chrystianizacji Żydów. Artykuł ukazuje w jaki sposób teksty pisane były wykorzystywane przez strony przeciwstawne w celu obrony własnego stanowiska.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the state of innovative development of the economy of Ukraine and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and to identify the problems of its provision in the conditions of martial law. The results of the study prove that factors of a military nature have an ambiguous effect on stimulating the innovative development of the country's economy. It has been established that economic evolution through innovation is a prerequisite for strengthening its competitiveness in countering modern challenges and threats. The results of the empirical study made it possible to find out that during the large-scale aggression of Russia on the territory of Ukraine in 2022, a decrease in the level of innovative economic development was also observed in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. It was established that in 2023, the countries of the analyzed group managed to increase the indicators of innovative activity of business entities and the parameters of the innovative development of the economy. Important problems in ensuring economic progress through innovative activity have been identified: (1) shortcomings of the legislation regulating the innovation sphere; (2) lack of formation of a unified innovation infrastructure; (3) significant tax burden; (4) lack of an effective system of taxation and provision of tax benefits and preferences; (5) lack of effective investment mechanisms in the field of innovation; (6) low level of technological capacity of production facilities; (7) imperfection of the education system; (8) low level of financing of research activities; (9) focus on the export of raw materials and dependence on high-tech imports. In order to ensure sustainable innovative development of the country's economy, it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for the development of innovative potential, activate the creation of cross-border innovation clusters, and strengthen the country's investment attractiveness.

15. Modelling of the NBI contribution to the neutron energy spectra for the ITER Vertical Neutron Camera

Abstract

The ITER Vertical Neutron Camera (VNC) is a multichannel collimator system designed to measure the neutron emissivity profile and spectra. The energy spectrum measurements of neutrons made by the VNC will contribute to the reconstruction of the ion temperature, fuel ratio, and fast ion distribution function. In this paper, the results of neutron spectra calculations for the ITER VNC are presented. The developed software allows for the simulation of particle spectra resulting from interaction of suprathermal ions with thermal background plasma. The method relies on direct reaction rate calculation and explicit fusion reaction kinematics modelling. The assessment of the D-T neutron spectra is carried out for D-NBI heated baseline D-T ITER operation scenarios. It is shown that neutron flux resulting from fast (beam) D with thermal T ion interaction dominates at more than 16 MeV part of the spectra. Thus, it is possible to assess fuel ratio based on calculated thermal-thermal and beam-thermal neutron energy spectra. An ability to observe sawtooth-induced mixing via VNC is studied. Abstract

The muon detector of LHCb, which comprises 1368 multi-wire-proportional-chambers (MWPC) for a total area of 435 m2, is the largest instrument of its kind exposed to such a high-radiation environment. In nine years of operation, from 2010 until 2018, we did not observe appreciable signs of ageing of the detector in terms of reduced performance. However, during such a long period, many chamber gas gaps suffered from HV trips. Most of the trips were due to Malter-like effects, characterised by the appearance of local self-sustained high currents, presumably originating from impurities induced during chamber production. Very effective, though long, recovery procedures were implemented with a HV training of the gaps in situ while taking data. The training allowed most of the affected chambers to be returned to their full functionality and the muon detector efficiency to be kept close to 100%. The possibility of making the recovery faster and even more effective by adding a small percentage of oxygen in the gas mixture has been studied and successfully tested., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of the economic and legal regulation of the process of ensuring the effectiveness of counteracting corruption in the system of anti-corruption measures of state authorities. The results of the conducted research allow us to assert that corruption is one of the most serious problems of our time, which has emerged acutely in Ukraine, and its scale threatens the sustainable socio-economic and socio-political development of the country and successful integration into the European Union. It is determined that the essence of corruption consists in the commission of deliberate illegal acts by officials, aimed at the use of official powers for personal gain and enrichment. It is established that the existing system of prevention and counteraction to corruption in Ukraine is not able to restrain the rapid pace of its spread, and the main anti-corruption measures are characterized by a low level of effectiveness. The imperfection and weakness of the normative and legal regulation of the processes of prevention and counteraction to corruption in Ukraine by state authorities are revealed. It is found that the highest anti-corruption effectiveness indicators in 2022 were recorded for the activities of the President and the Office of the President of Ukraine, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine, and the lowest for the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Strategic guidelines for increasing the effectiveness of counteracting corruption in Ukraine are proposed, among which the primary importance belongs to the activation of the processes of implementation of the anti-corruption reform; normalization of the main aspects of interaction between state authorities and the public in the field of counteracting corruption; development and approval of the Methodology for assessing the level of corruption in Ukraine.

Abstract

Computational modelling has made many useful contributions to the field of optical tweezers. One aspect in which it can be applied is the simulation of the dynamics of particles in optical tweezers. This can be useful for systems with many degrees of freedom, and for the simulation of experiments. While modelling of the optical force is a prerequisite for simulation of the motion of particles in optical traps, non-optical forces must also be included; the most important are usually Brownian motion and viscous drag. We discuss some applications and examples of such simulations. We review the theory and practical principles of simulation of optical tweezers, including the choice of method of calculation of optical force, numerical solution of the equations of motion of the particle, and finish with a discussion of a range of open problems., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of legal regulation of the mechanism of applying blockchain technology in the modern conditions of digitalization of the economy of Ukraine. The results of the conducted research give reasons to state that the legal regulation of the mechanism of applying blockchain technology in the modern conditions of digitalization of the economy of Ukraine is too weak and needs to be revised and improved. The article defines the essence of blockchain technology, which is understood as a decentralized database formed by participants and provides conditions for preventing actions related to the falsification of data due to their chronological recording and public confirmation by all participants of the transaction network. On the basis of a detailed study of the outlined issues, significant problematic aspects of the use of blockchain technology at the global, national and regional levels have been identified, the most acute of which at the current stage is the imperfection of the legal mechanism of applying blockchain technology in the modern conditions of digitalization of the economy. The results of empirical studies have proved the dependence of the development of blockchain technology on the level of development of the country and the state of the digitalization process of the national economy. It has been established that the highest share of the use of blockchain technologies in today's conditions is observed in the USA (40%) and Great Britain (17%). In order to solve problematic issues, the main areas of improving the legal regulation of the mechanism of applying blockchain technology in Ukraine are proposed, among which the need for the development and adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On Virtual Assets" is justified, as well as the need for the implementation of international and European law in the field of digitalization and regulation of the development of digital technologies in the national legislation of Ukraine.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present the reaction of the early Christians to the emergence and the spread of the great epidemics. During the early Christian ages (2nd–3rd centuries) different plagues devastated people of the Roman Empire. Christianity has already prepared some modes of activity to deal with epidemics. These were both ideological and practical means. The main conclusion is that the pestilences during which Christians might show their moral principles, the special manner of life, and activity were one of the reasons to explain conversion to Christianity.

Abstract

A method is described which allows to deduce the dead-time of the front-end electronics of the LHCb muon detector from a series of measurements performed at different luminosities at a bunch-crossing rate of 20 MHz. The measured values of the dead-time range from 70 ns to 100 ns. These results allow to estimate the performance of the muon detector at the future bunch-crossing rate of 40 MHz and at higher luminosity.

Abstract

The article points out that without a developed and functioning marketing strategy, an enterprise engaged in the production of any goods or services will not be able to withstand competition, to act effectively in accordance with market requirements. Creating a new business, merging and acquiring, developing a new market niche, narrowing or expanding the product line, choosing suppliers and partners – all these and many other decisions are made within the marketing strategy. Marketing itself is defined as the management of development, production and sale of goods and services demanded by society carries a systematic approach to solving problems of obtaining the maximum effect from sales with minimal and commercial risks. It is also stated that one of the most common methods is matrix analysis of the business portfolio. In order to assess the the company’s competitiveness, the author used the McKinsey matrix. The matrix built by the consulting firm for General Electric is considered in part. The characteristic and marketing alternatives of strategic zones on the given matrix are given. Formation peculiarities of competitive positions at researched enterprises in the kitchen market with the help of marketing strategies are revealed. As a result of the scientific researches problem’s analysis the author has come to a conclusion that both investigated firms-competitors are in a zone of selective development. While choosing a marketing strategy, it is necessary to focus on the main features of the marketing strategy, such as: long-term orientation; based on the results of strategic marketing analysis; a certain subordination in the hierarchy of enterprise strategies; the market orientation of activity (in relation to consumers and competitors) is defined, and also on need of the further scientific researches of a problem.

Abstract

Obtaining intense neutron fluxes are required for production of radioactive isotopes, radiation testing of promising materials, neutron diffraction, neutron capture therapy, and other applications. The interaction of deuterons with lithium is characterized by a high neutron yield, a wide variety of reactions, but the available experimental data on the reaction cross-section are scarce and contradictory, which does not allow reliably estimating the yield and spectrum of generated neutrons. In this work, effective partial cross-sections of the nuclear reactions Li() Be with the formation of the Be nucleus in the ground and first excited states at deuteron energies from 0.4 to 2.1 MeV were measured at accelerator based neutron source VITA using the developed RBN-A1 fast neutron spectrometric radiometer. It is shown that measurements by the fast detector radiometer with two diamond spectrometric detectors provide a number of advantages over the traditionally used measuring path scintillation detector. Analysis of the high-energy part of the amplitude spectra of diamond detectors, determined by the reactions C() Be and C() Be*, allowed measuring the effective partial cross-sections of the nuclear reaction Li() Be with the formation of the Be nucleus in the ground state and, especially, in the first excited state. Abstract

Baryon-to-meson Transition Distribution Amplitudes (TDAs) encoding valuable new information on hadron structure appear as building blocks in the collinear factorized description for several types of hard exclusive reactions. In this paper, we address the possibility of accessing nucleon-to-pion ($\pi N$) TDAs from $\bar{p}p \to e^+e^- \pi^0$ reaction with the future \={P}ANDA detector at the FAIR facility. At high center of mass energy and high invariant mass squared of the lepton pair $q^2$, the amplitude of the signal channel $\bar{p}p \to e^+e^- \pi^0$ admits a QCD factorized description in terms of $\pi N$ TDAs and nucleon Distribution Amplitudes (DAs) in the forward and backward kinematic regimes. Assuming the validity of this factorized description, we perform feasibility studies for measuring $\bar{p}p \to e^+e^- \pi^0$ with the \={P}ANDA detector. Detailed simulations on signal reconstruction efficiency as well as on rejection of the most severe background channel, i.e. $\bar{p}p \to \pi^+\pi^- \pi^0$ were performed for the center of mass energy squared $s = 5$ GeV$^2$ and $s = 10$ GeV$^2$, in the kinematic regions $3.0 < q^2 < 4.3$ GeV$^2$ and $5 < q^2 < 9$ GeV$^2$, respectively, with a neutral pion scattered in the forward or backward cone $| \cos\theta_{\pi^0}| > 0.5 $ in the proton-antiproton center of mass frame. Results of the simulation show that the particle identification capabilities of the \={P}ANDA detector will allow to achieve a background rejection factor of $5\cdot 10^7$ ($1\cdot 10^7$) at low (high) $q^2$ for $s=5$ GeV$^2$, and of $1\cdot 10^8$ ($6\cdot 10^6$) at low (high) $q^2$ for $s=10$ GeV$^2$, while keeping the signal reconstruction efficiency at around $40\%$. At both energies, a clean lepton signal can be reconstructed with the expected statistics corresponding to $2$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the standpoint of Pope Honorius (625–638) at the early stage of the controversy over operation in Christ. Patriarch Sophronius (633/634–638) expressed his protest against the statement on one operation in Christ after it had been officially expressed in the Alexandrian Pact of unity in 633. The Pact was supported by both Sergius of Constantinople (610–638) and Emperor Heraclius (610–641). Patriarch Sergius developed his tactics in order to defend the stance of both the Church of Constantinople and the Emperor. As a result, a significant tension between both Patriarchs arose. After the confrontation between Sophronius of Jerusalem and Sergius of Constantinople, Pope Honorius (625–638) was concerned with the matter of operation in Christ. He maintained the standpoint of Sergius and became one of the implicit initiators of the Ekthesis issued by Emperor Heraclius.

The intensification of the challenges, threats and risks of the global financial and economic system and the unreadiness of national economies to resist their destabilizing effects lead to the formation of a new paradigm of the world economic order, an integral component of which is corruption. The spread of corruption in the global dimension intensifies the disparities in the structure of socio-economic systems and creates obstacles to the legal and socio-political system of the country, as this destructive phenomenon penetrates not only the public sector but also the economy, politics and society, and it significantly affects the quality of life of the population, which is manifested in the enrichment of a small proportion and the impoverishment of the majority of the population. The article defines the essence of corruption substantiates the relationship between corruption and the quality of life of the population. The economic and legal analysis of normative and legal support of counteracting corruption in the countries of the European Union and in Ukraine is carried out. A study of the dynamics of the Corruption Perceptions Index and the Quality of Life Index in the countries of the European Union and Ukraine during 2018-2021 is conducted. Based on multifactor (cluster) analysis using the k-means method, the grouping of the countries of the European Union and Ukraine by the Corruption Perceptions Index and the Quality of Life Index is carried out, which allowed to distinguish three groups among the countries of the European Union: (1) highly developed countries, which have a high quality of life and low levels of corruption; (2) highly developed countries which provide high quality of life, but corruption is high enough; (3) countries with a high level of corruption and a relatively low level of quality of life, including Ukraine. In order to ensure effective counteraction to corruption, the main measures to combat this destructive phenomenon have been proposed, the implementation of which requires the improvement of current legislation and its harmonization with international regulations.

Abstract. Counteraction to financial crimes in the system of fight against legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained funds in the context of globalization and European integration is one of the priority directions of public policy in the financial sphere. Crisis phenomena of financial and economic, as well as socio-political nature, which are present in Ukraine, increase the risks of committing financial crimes and legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained funds as a result of illegal activities. The growing trends of increasing financial crime necessitate effective counteraction to destabilizing factors and the development of an effective mechanism to combat this destructive phenomenon. The article defines the essence of financial crimes and legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained funds, substantiates the relationship and interdependence of financial crime with the legalization (laundering) of criminal income. The economic and legal analysis of normative and legal support of counteraction to financial crime and legalization of economy is carried out. The research of the dynamics of the number of financial crimes committed in Ukraine, the amount of legalized (laundered) funds and property, as well as the amount of legalized (laundered) funds obtained as a result of tax evasion, is conducted. The peculiarities of assessing the risks of legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained funds, based on the use of risk-oriented approach, are analyzed, and the most significant risks of legalization (laundering) of illegal funds are identified. In order to improve and ensure effective counteraction to financial crimes in the system of fight against legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained funds, the main measures of counteraction to financial crime in Ukraine are proposed, the implementation of which requires strengthening economic, legal and administrative cooperation of economic agents. Abstract

A new method has been developed to check the correct behaviour of the frontend electronics of the LHCb muon detector. This method is based on the measurement of the electronic noise rate at different thresholds of the frontend discriminator. The method was used to choose the optimal discriminator thresholds. A procedure based on this method was implemented in the detector control system and allowed the detection of a small percentage of frontend channels which had deteriorated. A Monte Carlo simulation has been performed to check the validity of the method.

Abstract

Optical tweezers are tools made of light that enable contactless pushing, trapping, and manipulation of objects, ranging from atoms to space light sails. Since the pioneering work by Arthur Ashkin in the 1970s, optical tweezers have evolved into sophisticated instruments and have been employed in a broad range of applications in the life sciences, physics, and engineering. These include accurate force and torque measurement at the femtonewton level, microrheology of complex fluids, single micro- and nano-particle spectroscopy, single-cell analysis, and statistical-physics experiments. This roadmap provides insights into current investigations involving optical forces and optical tweezers from their theoretical foundations to designs and setups. It also offers perspectives for applications to a wide range of research fields, from biophysics to space exploration.

Abstract

Modern magnetic confinement fusion devices increasingly rely on extensive neutron diagnostic configurations to measure a plethora of key plasma parameters. Measurement accuracy for these diagnostics depends heavily on in situ calibration. In order to enable said calibration, we set out to propose a reliable and powerful fast neutron source, to define a characterization plan for this source in terms of yield, flux and energy distributions, propose an optimized set of tools suitable for online monitoring of neutron source performance and its metrological characteristics. In the framework of this research activity with the ultimate aim of ITER tokamak neutron diagnostics calibration we rely on industrial-grade fast neutron generator NG-24 (D-D neutron yield ~109 n/s, D-T neutron yield ~1011 n/s) with sealed tube and stuffed, titanium target developed by FSUE VNIIA. The well-known analytical expressions for thick target NGs and our measurements using neutron spectrometers utilizing threshold reactions – diamond detector and LaCl3 scintillator for D-T and D-D neutron generators respectively – were found to be significantly coherent. These data are supported through our multi-step forward modelling including ion stopping in target, fusion reaction kinematics modelling and calculating detector response based on modelled neutron spectra. We discuss methods of uncertainty mitigation of neutron spectrometer measurements. Application of both neutron activation analysis and gas-filled neutron flux monitors during source characterization and operation allows for lowing statistical uncertainty of neutron flux measurements to 1% level over 1 minute of time resolution. Over the course of several measurement campaigns the optimal set of measurement tools have been determined including detector dimensions, required acquisition time, calibration methods.

Abstract

The performance of the LHCb Muon system and its stability across the full 2010 data taking with LHC running at ps = 7 TeV energy is studied. The optimization of the detector setting and the time calibration performed with the first collisions delivered by LHC is described. Particle rates, measured for the wide range of luminosities and beam operation conditions experienced during the run, are compared with the values expected from simulation. The space and time alignment of the detectors, chamber efficiency, time resolution and cluster size are evaluated. The detector performance is found to be as expected from specifications or better. Abstract

During 2011 the LHCb experiment at CERN collected 1.0 fb-1 of sqrt{s} = 7 TeV pp collisions. Due to the large heavy quark production cross-sections, these data provide unprecedented samples of heavy flavoured hadrons. The first results from LHCb have made a significant impact on the flavour physics landscape and have definitively proved the concept of a dedicated experiment in the forward region at a hadron collider. This document discusses the implications of these first measurements on classes of extensions to the Standard Model, bearing in mind the interplay with the results of searches for on-shell production of new particles at ATLAS and CMS. The physics potential of an upgrade to the LHCb detector, which would allow an order of magnitude more data to be collected, is emphasised., Comment: v2: 180 pages; many figures. Abstract

This document describes the technical layout and the expected performance of the Straw Tube Tracker (STT), the main tracking detector of the PANDA target spectrometer. The STT encloses a Micro-Vertex-Detector (MVD) for the inner tracking and is followed in beam direction by a set of GEM-stations. The tasks of the STT are the measurement of the particle momentum from the reconstructed trajectory and the measurement of the specific energy-loss for a particle identification. Dedicated simulations with full analysis studies of certain proton-antiproton reactions, identified as being benchmark tests for the whole PANDA scientific program, have been performed to test the STT layout and performance. Abstract

Using data collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, the semileptonic decays Bs -> Ds+ X mu nu and Bs -> D0 K+ X mu nu are detected. Two structures are observed in the D0 K+ mass spectrum at masses consistent with the known D^+_{s1}(2536) and $D^{*+}_{s2}(2573) mesons. The measured branching fractions relative to the total Bs semileptonic rate are B(Bs -> D_{s2}^{*+} X mu nu)/B(Bs -> X mu nu)= (3.3\pm 1.0\pm 0.4)%, and B(Bs -> D_{s1}^+ X munu)/B(Bs -> X mu nu)= (5.4\pm 1.2\pm 0.5)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first observation of the D_{s2}^{*+} state in Bs decays; we also measure its mass and width., Comment: 8 pages 2 figures. Published in Physics Letters B

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the study was to generate legal support of the socio-economic development model genesis in post-industrial society. Fulfillment the research purpose requires solving several problems. Firstly, to determine the characteristics, components and directions of socio-economic development in post-industrial society. Secondly, to carry out a theoretical analysis of the basic concepts of socio-economic development transformation and to evaluate them. Furthermore, to determine the priority concept of transformation accordingly to the post-industrial development requirements. Thirdly, to develop the main directions of legal support for the formation of a model of socio-economic development of post-industrial society. Several environmental and economic crises, as well as the need to reconstruct the theoretical model of socio-economic development in post-industrial society, made the study relevant. Accordingly, the study intended to identify priority fields of legal support of socio-economic development model genesis. Based on the results of the evaluation of the basic concepts of socio-economic development transformation, the model of socio-economic development in post-industrial society was formed. Accordingly, the main directions of legal support of these processes were developed. The study provides a theoretical analysis of the basic concepts and components of the model of transformation of socio-economic development. An algorithm was developed and the evaluation of these concepts and components was performed, which allowed identifying the most optimal concept and relevant components. Based on this analysis, a socio-economic development model in a post-industrial society has been developed. The directions of legal support of the process of formation of such model were developed. Abstract

Decays of b hadrons into final states containing a D0 meson and a muon are used to measure the b anti-b production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC. In the pseudorapidity interval 2 < eta < 6 and integrated over all transverse momenta we find that the average cross-section to produce b-flavoured or anti-b-flavoured hadrons is (75.3 +/- 5.4 +/- 13.0) microbarns., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, to be published in Physics Lett.
