Background: Trauma is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and online platforms have become essential sources of information for trauma management. YouTube can play a significant role in helping people access medical information. Methods: YouTube was searched using the keywords management of trauma and assessment of trauma to identify relevant videos. Two authors independently evaluated the videos according to the ATLS (10th edition) guidelines, the modified DISCERN (m‐DISCERN) scale, and the Global Quality Scale (GQS) criteria. The videos that met the study criteria were evaluated based on the provider, video length, and view count. Results: Out of 939 videos, 667 were excluded resulting in 272 videos included in the study. According to the ATLS (10th edition) guidelines, the median score for videos was 8 (IQR 7‐8). Videos uploaded by official institutions and healthcare professionals received higher scores than from uncertain sources (p = 0.003). According to the GQS, 86% of the videos were low or moderate quality; uncertain sources uploaded 78% of low‐quality videos. Conclusion: YouTube is an information source about trauma management that contains videos of varying quality and has a broad audience. Official institutions and healthcare professionals should be aware of this evolving technology and publish up‐to‐date, accurate content to increase awareness about trauma management and help patients distinguish helpful information from misleading content. While some of the patients admitted to emergency departments (ED) are treated and discharged, others are transferred to inpatient services. The follow-up of these transferred patients is mostly based on their hospitalization diagnosis. It is important that the hospitalization diagnosis is accurate and reliable. We aimed to examine whether there is a difference between the diagnosis of admission in the emergency department and the diagnosis used at discharge from the hospital during one week. After excluding patients who were admitted without being evaluated in the emergency department and patients with missing data, a total of 544 patients were included. It was observed that most admissions were made to the internal medicine unit (n=118). When it was analyzed whether the diagnosis changed, it was observed that 90.6% of the patients maintained the same diagnosis after discharge. When the tests that led to a change in diagnosis were analyzed, it was found that CT and MRI played the most important role. Although the tests performed led to a change in the hospitalization diagnosis, only 33% of the patients had a change in the hospitalization episode. This is an important point and emphasizes the importance of ensuring accurate and precise diagnoses and admissions from emergency departments. In conclusion, these findings point to the need for improvements in the diagnostic and treatment processes of patients transferred from the ED to the wards. Purpose: To measure serum PTX3 levels in patients admitted with right lower quadrant pain to emergency department and to investigate whether this parameter will be helpful for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Materials and methods: This study was conducted with a group of 89 patients over 17 years of age who were admitted with the complaint of right lower quadrant pain to ED and had a preliminary diagnosis of acute appendicitis clinically and the control group of 31 healthy volunteers in a tertiary university hospital for 3 months. Results: Median PTX3 levels were 3.28 (1.08-30.24) ng/mL in the acute appendicitis groups and 0.97 (0.34-2.62) ng/mL in the control group. A significant difference was observed between acute appendicitis groups and the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: PTX3 was found to be significantly higher in patient with acute appendicitis compared to the control group and the patients with non-specific abdominal pain. Background: Head trauma is a leading cause of death and disability. While standard treatment protocols exist for severe head trauma, no clear follow-up standards are available for mild head trauma with positive imaging findings in infants and newborns. Although routine follow-up brain computed tomography (CT) imaging is not recommended for children with moderate and mild head trauma, the necessity for follow-up imaging in infants and newborns remains uncertain., Methods: Our study is a retrospective, observational, and descriptive study. Infants under 1 year old presenting to the emergency department with isolated head trauma were reviewed with the approval of the Ethics Committee of Ankara Etlik City Hospital. Inclusion criteria included presentation to the emergency department, undergoing more than one brain CT scan, and sustaining mild head trauma (Glasgow Coma Scale [GCS] >13). Patients with incomplete follow-up data or multiple traumas were excluded. Age, gender, mechanism of trauma, initial and follow-up brain CT findings, hospital admission, and surgical procedures were recorded and analyzed using the SPSS statistical package., Results: Out of 238 screened patients, 154 were included in the study. Of these, 66.9% were male and the average age was 5.99 months. The most common presenting symptom was swelling at the trauma site, observed in 79.2% of cases. The most common mechanism of injury was falling from a height of less than 90 cm, accounting for 85.1% of cases. Pathological progression on follow-up CT was observed in 5.2% of the patients, and only 1.9% required surgical treatment. A total of 34.4% of the patients required hospitalization. Patients with parenchymal brain pathology had a higher rate of pathological progression on follow-up CT and a longer hospital stay., Conclusion: Follow-up CT scans in infants with mild head trauma do not alter patient outcomes except in cases with brain parenchymal pathology. Study data indicated that repeat imaging is not beneficial for isolated skull fractures. Imaging artifacts often necessitated repeated scans, contributing to increased radiation exposure. Unnecessary repeat imaging escalates radiation exposure and healthcare costs. Only a small percentage of patients exhibited progression of intracranial pathology, justifying follow-up imaging solely in the presence of brain parenchymal injury. Larger prospective studies are necessary to confirm these findings.
