Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) improves communication between healthcare workers and healthcare delivery. This study aimed to explore the reflections of final year health professions students on their preparedness for IPC. Participants were 183 fourth-year nursing, occupational therapy (OT), and physical therapy (PT) students. Data were collected using the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale, three open-ended questions, and one question assessing students' experience with the problem-based learning (PBL) method. The findings reveal that only OT students experienced the PBL method and they were more positive than others regarding competence, readiness, and willingness to cooperate with other health professions. Most students valued the preparation they had received and referred to: structure and content of the curriculum, informal aspects of the curriculum, and aspects of clinical practice. Approaches involving interprofessional groups of students working together in tutorial situations were classified as most contributing to IPC and integration into the multidisciplinary team in clinical practice.

To identify physiotherapy students' preferences about their prospective area of practice and the reasons for their choices. Tel-Aviv University physiotherapy students participated in a cross-sectional survey and three open-ended questions that comprise the qualitative component of the study. At the very beginning of their studies, and at the end of the first to fourth years, participants were asked about their area of preference, the factors that shaped their choice, and the reasons for prospective changes in their preference. In total, 289 students filled out the survey. Response rate was 68%. Interest in some areas of practice such as pediatrics remained stable throughout years of physiotherapy studies. In contrast, interest in other areas such as sports declined and interest in others such as rehabilitation increased. The open-ended questions yielded 1,616 codes sorted into five categories that shaped the students' preferences: "I/Me /My" the largest category, followed by "the physiotherapy studies program" and then the relational focused "physiotherapy practice." The number of codes for "working conditions" and "work-life balance" increased steeply with the progression of the studies and the age of the students. The choice for areas of practice of physiotherapy students vary during their professional formation. During their professional development, their preferences are shaped by their personal feelings, interest in and past experience with the specific areas of practice, as well as their practical exposure, experiences in practicums, and theoretical studies. Aims: To predict, at the beginning of geriatric rehabilitation, patients who will not complete the in-patient rehabilitation and patients who will walk independently at the end of this period. Methods: Participants: A total of 40 older adults. Primary outcomes: Dropout rate, score 6--7 in the walking sub-items of the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) at the end of rehabilitation. Predictors: Heart rate (HR) at rest, the Modified Borg Scale (MBS) while walking, and FIM walking at admission. Results: Twelve of the participants dropped out. An MBS > 5 best predicted who did not complete the rehabilitation intervention (accuracy = 0.70). At the end of the rehabilitation period, 24 were independent in mobility. A baseline FIM walking >2 and MBS < 7 predicted independence in walking (accuracy 0.84 and 0.82, respectively). Conclusion: Simple measures taken at the beginning of geriatric rehabilitation may contribute to estimating early not completion of rehabilitation and mobility independence at the end of the program. BACKGROUND: Vestibulo-sympathetic reflexes (VSR) demonstrate the autonomic interaction between the vestibular system and the cardiovascular system, however little is known about this interaction in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Although the main complaint of patients with BPPV is vertigo, additional symptoms such as nausea and sweating raise questions whether patients with BPPV have impaired VSR. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to assess the cardiac autonomic control system (CACS) response to vestibular stimulation in subjects with BPPV compared with healthy controls. METHODS: This is a case-control study. Heart-rate variability (HRV) parameters were monitored in two groups (30–70 years old)- subjects with BPPV (N = 18) and gender and age-matched healthy controls (N = 18), at rest and during vestibular stimulation. RESULTS: No significant differences were found between groups in HRV parameters during rest. Both groups demonstrated an autonomic response to vestibular stimulation, yet no differences were found between groups. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with BPPV seem to have an intact cardiac response to vestibular stimulation. Over-activation of the Vestibular Semicircular Canals, as shown in BPPV, doesn't seem to alter the VSR in the cardiac autonomic control system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this study was to compare the utility of measuring wrist flexors and extensors strength derived from 'full' range of motion (FRoM): 60[degrees] of flexion to 30[degrees] of extension, and 3 equally spaced short ranges of motion: SRoM1,60-30[degrees] and SroM2, 30-0[degrees] of flexion and SRoM3, 0-30[degrees] of wrist extension. Fifteen apparently healthy subjects and 8 patients suffering from unilateral carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) participated in the study. In all participants, SRoM1 findings closely resembled those obtained from FRoM. In the patient groups, the muscular strength of the uninvolved side was not different from that of the healthy subjects. On the other hand, based on a bilateral comparison (involved vs. uninvolved hand), the mean total weakness (in concentric and eccentric modes) was significantly higher in flexion (56.4 [+ or -] 17.3%) than in extension (39.8 [+ or -] 15.5%) but highly symmetrical between FRoM and SRoM1. Although supporting the interchangeable use of FRoM and SRoM isokinetic testing, this study highlights a hitherto unreported dynamic weakness of the wrist extension-flexion apparatus that may partly account for the general reduction in hand function reported by patients with CTS. The article focuses on the study to assess different high-frequency (HF) band power calculations based on different frequency bandwidth values, and compare them with the time domain the root mean square of successive RR differences (RMSSD) value in preterm infants. It mentions that the RMSSD was highly and positively correlated with frequency bands that were based on each preterms BR range, or on a constant frequency with band limits of 0.4–2 Hz.
