The study examines how the toxic leadership behaviors of school principals relate to teachers' perceived stress. It is a correlational survey model, and the sample consists of 278 primary and secondary school teachers. We collected the data with the Perceived Stress Scale and Toxic Leadership Scale. The findings show that gender does not cause a statistical difference in perceived stress and all dimensions of toxic leadership. The stress levels of branch teachers are higher than those of primary school teachers, with a statistically significant difference. The perception of branch teachers in terms of ignorance, self-interest, and a negative mental state of toxic leadership is significantly higher than that of classroom teachers. A moderately significant positive relationship exists between teachers' perceptions of stress and all dimensions of toxic leadership. 20% of teachers' perceptions of stress are explained by toxic leadership. The negative mental state of school principals is a significant predictor of teachers' perceptions of stress.

Aim: Recent studies have shown that sirtuin signaling pathway activation could be a potential therapeutic target for future therapies and biomarkers for predicting prognosis in cancer. We aimed to investigate the association between Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) immunohistochemical (IHC) protein expression in tumors and clinicopathological parameters and survival profiles in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods: This retrospective observational study reviewed lung resections (lobectomy, segmentectomy, wedge resection, and pneumonectomy) of 186 patients diagnosed with NSCLC (adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and adenosquamous carcinoma). SIRT1 and SIRT2 expression was classified as high and low expression based on the extent and intensity of IHC staining. Results: When there was advanced disease, a large tumor, and metastasis to lymph nodes, low levels of SIRT1 and SIRT2 expression were found. A positive correlation exists between high SIRT2 expression and longer overall survival. If SIRT1 and SIRT2 were both overexpressed (+/+), longer survival times were observed than in the group in which either of them was low (+/-, -/+, -/-) (p=0.01). Conclusion: Our research suggests that SIRT1 and SIRT2 may suppress tumor growth in NSCLC and serve as positive prognostic indicators.

It is well known in the literature that human behavior can change as a reaction to disease observed in others, and that such behavioral changes can be an important factor in the spread of an epidemic. It has been noted that human behavioral traits in disease avoidance are under selection in the presence of infectious diseases. Here, we explore a complementary trend: the pathogen itself might experience a force of selection to become less "visible," or less "symptomatic," in the presence of such human behavioral trends. Using a stochastic SIR agent-based model, we investigated the co-evolution of two viral strains with cross-immunity, where the resident strain is symptomatic while the mutant strain is asymptomatic. We assumed that individuals exercised self-regulated social distancing (SD) behavior if one of their neighbors was infected with a symptomatic strain. We observed that the proportion of asymptomatic carriers increased over time with a stronger effect corresponding to higher levels of self-regulated SD. Adding mandated SD made the effect more significant, while the existence of a time-delay between the onset of infection and the change of behavior reduced the advantage of the asymptomatic strain. These results were consistent under random geometric networks, scale-free networks, and a synthetic network that represented the social behavior of the residents of New Orleans.

IntroductionRare and ultra-rare genetic conditions significantly contribute to infant morbidity and mortality, often presenting with atypical features and genetic heterogeneity that complicate management. Rapid genome sequencing (RGS) offers a timely and cost-effective approach to diagnosis, aiding in early clinical management and reducing unnecessary interventions. This pilot study represents the inaugural use of next-generation sequencing (NGS) as a diagnostic instrument for critically ill neonatal and pediatric ICU patients in a Turkish hospital setting.MethodsTen infants were enrolled based on predefined inclusion criteria, and trio RGS was performed. The mean age of the participants was 124 days, with congenital abnormalities being the most common indication for testing. Three patients had consanguineous parents. The mean turnaround time from enrollment to delivery of results was 169 h, with a diagnostic yield of 50%.ResultsThree patients received a definitive molecular diagnosis, impacting their clinical management. Two patients benefited from the exclusion of Mendelian conditions, leading to alternative diagnoses.DiscussionThis study demonstrates the feasibility and results of RGS in Turkish hospital settings, emphasizing the importance of timely genetic diagnosis in reducing the diagnostic odyssey for families and improving patient care. Further research is needed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and applicability of RGS in the Turkish healthcare system for children with diseases of uncertain etiology.

Research literacy is essential for teachers to practice their profession based on research-based knowledge. The present study aimed to develop and validate the Research Literacy Scale (RLS) and investigate teachers' research literacy based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and research utilization models. The data was collected from teachers working in primary and secondary schools for two separate studies. According to the exploratory factor analysis results, a 20-item, four-factor solution emerged: research awareness, attitude toward research, research skills, and research use. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the four-factor model fit the data well, and all items are significant under the relevant factors. The sub-factors of the RLS demonstrated high internal consistency. Measurement invariance tests revealed showed full configural, metric, scalar, and strict invariance across gender. Teachers doing research had significantly higher scores on all four dimensions, and those who followed scientific journals had higher scores on the three dimensions except for attitude. As a conclusion RLS has good psychometric features to measure teachers' research literacy, and variables related to research experience cause a significant difference in research literacy.

In this article, two tarikatname texts, " Tarįkat-nāme-i įn-est " (GJ), which was purchased from Kashgar by Gunnar Jarring in 1930 and donated to the Lund University Library in Sweden, and " Ṭarįkat-nāme bu turur" (HK), which is in a mecmu in Hüseyin Kaba's personal library, are analysed. Firstly, based on the HK copy, the text was written in transcription alphabet and compared with the copy in the Gunnar Jarring Collection and the edition-critical text was created. The orthography, phonology and morphology features of the text, which has the characteristics of Chagatai Turkic and was copied in the 19th century, were determined. In the conclusion section, the data obtained from the study were presented and a facsimile edition of the manuscript was added at the end of the study.

The global effects of climate change will increase the frequency and intensity of extreme events such as heatwaves and power outages, which have consequences for buildings and their cooling systems. Buildings and their cooling systems should be designed and operated to be resilient under such events to protect occupants from potentially dangerous indoor thermal conditions. This study performed a critical review on the state-of-the-art of cooling strategies, with special attention to their performance under heatwaves and power outages. We proposed a definition of resilient cooling and described four criteria for resilience—absorptive capacity, adaptive capacity, restorative capacity, and recovery speed —and used them to qualitatively evaluate the resilience of each strategy. The literature review and qualitative analyses show that to attain resilient cooling, the four resilience criteria should be considered in the design phase of a building or during the planning of retrofits. The building and relevant cooling system characteristics should be considered simultaneously to withstand extreme events. A combination of strategies with different resilience capacities, such as a passive envelope strategy coupled with a low-energy space-cooling solution, may be needed to obtain resilient cooling. Finally, a further direction for a quantitative assessment approach has been pointed out.

In the context of increasing energy demands and the integration of renewable energy sources, this review focuses on recent advancements in energy storage control strategies from 2016 to the present, evaluating both experimental and simulation studies at component, system, building, and district scales. Out of 426 papers screened, 147 were assessed for eligibility, with 56 included in the final review. As a first outcome, this work proposes a novel classification and taxonomy update for advanced storage control systems, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation. Furthermore, the study emphasizes experimental case studies, moving beyond numerical analyses to provide practical insights. It investigates how the literature on energy storage is enhancing building flexibility and resilience, highlighting the application of advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence methods and their impact on energy and financial savings. By exploring the correlation between control algorithms and the resulting benefits, this review provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state and future perspectives of energy storage control in smart grids and buildings.

The aim of this study is to develop a lesson plan for the "Graphics and Animation in Education" course lectured in the department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT). For this purpose, a "Needs Analysis Form for Graphics and Animation in Education Course" that includes open ended questions is produced by the program specialist and the researchers. The needs analysis form was applied to 10 instructors who have taught this course in the faculty of education. In the light of the findings derived from the needs analysis; the purpose of graphics and animation in education course was determined as: "creating e-materials which specifically comprise interactive features in order to use at various levels of education and providing students the skills to adapt these materials to be used in mobile devices". The basic strategy to use for this course is stated as "Expository" and during the course demonstration and question-and-answer methods are used. As a result, a lesson plan was developed for a unit of the graphics and animation in education course.
