Abstract The competition between superconductivity and magnetism has been studied for the ongoing investigation of mechanisms in unconventional superconductors. Fe1+yTe1−xSex is distinct among iron‐based superconductors due to its structural simplicity, comprising solely FeTe/Se layers that are favorable for probing the superconductivity mechanism. The main goal of this article is to focus on the computational investigation of the interplay of magnetism and superconductivity in the Fe1+yTe1−xSex multiband superconductor. From the electronic structure of the Fe1+yTe1−xSex superconductor, a two‐band Hamiltonian model was considered to examine the interplay of magnetism and superconductivity in the Fe1+yTe1‐xSex superconductor. Using Green's function formalism with the Hamiltonian model, the mathematical statements for the superconducting (Sc) gap parameter, spin density wave (SDW) ordering parameter, Sc and magnetic transitional temperatures have been obtained. Using these mathematical expressions, the phase diagram of transition temperatures versus the gap parameters for the Fe1+yTe1‐xSex superconductor has been plotted. The intersection region in the phase diagram of transition temperatures as a function of the SDW order parameter has been plotted to show the possible interplay of superconductivity and magnetism in a Fe1+yTe1‐xSex iron‐based superconductor.

In Ethiopia, the plant is traditionally used for the treatment of stomach ache, tonsillitis, ascariasis, uterine bleeding, etc. An ethnobotanical study from Mizan–Tepi University also reported the use of the plant by “Shekicho” people as an abortifacient. As a result, this study aimed at the assessment of the outcome of hydro-ethanolic leaves extract of R. nepalensis on Swiss albino pregnant rats and confirm its abortifacient activity.Methods: The hydro-alcoholic leaves extract of Rumex nepalensis Spreng was evaluated for its abortifacient activity in Swiss albino rats. The mature female rats were mated overnight to male rats in mating cages. Two different dosage regimens (300 mg/kg, 600 mg/kg) of the extract were administered. Laparotomy was performed on the rats to assess the uterus and ovary, the viable, non-viable, adsorbing sites, and corpora lutea. Differences between the experimental and control groups were compared using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Dunnett’s T-test to determine their level of significance.Results and Discussion: This study revealed that Rumex nepalensis Spreng had anti-implantation and abortifacient activities at both 300 and 600 mg/kg doses, which was statistically significant as compared with the controls. It was relatively safe up to the dose of 5000 mg/kg, where no mortality and organ toxicity were manifested. Phytochemicals identified were alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and anthraquinones.Conclusion: In general, our study showed that R. nepalensis had a significant abortifacient activity that testifies its traditional dibs. Therefore, the use of this plant should be avoided in pregnant women to minimize unintended abortion and further studies are needed to know its mechanism of activity and to identify the phytochemicals corresponding to this activity. Rapid urbanization in emerging nations such as Ethiopia encourages participants in the area to consider the sustainability and balanced growth of metropolitan centers from a variety of angles and to offer suitable solutions. This study aims to comprehend how urban land use influences the efficiency and connection of road networks, which in turn affects how accessible different parts of the city are, to determine the influencing factors and critical indicators that enable a systematic categorization of subcity accessibility from the perspectives of urban land use. Geographic information system (GIS) techniques are used to gather and analyze precise geographical data on road networks, land use patterns, and other pertinent properties. In addition, a regression model is created to measure the effect of land use features on the accessibility of the road network. The primary questionnaire data are used to estimate the current situation of road accessibility and are used in the study validation process. This research has incorporated qualitative and quantitative approaches to sustainability. The findings imply that residential areas are 90% significant in making transport along the city, and 98% of the accessibility of the road network is dependent on land use features, including road density and subcity areas. Among the subcities, Bole, Kirkos, and Arada have 87% road network accessibility and better access to public transportation. Abstract Background Frailty is a multidimensional geriatric condition that increases vulnerability to stressors, increases the risk of negative health outcomes, and lowers quality of life in older people. However, little attention has been paid to frailty in developing countries, particularly in Ethiopia. Therefore, the aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of frailty syndrome and the sociodemographic, lifestyle, and clinical factors associated with it. Methods A community-based cross-sectional study design was conducted from April to June 2022. A total of 607 study participants were included using a single cluster sampling technique. The Tilburg frailty indicator, which is a self-reported schedule for assessment of frailty, required respondents to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and the total attainable score ranged from 0 to 15. An individual with a score of ≥ 5 considered frail. Data were collected by interviewing the participants using a structured questionnaire, and the data collection tools were pre-tested before the actual data collection period to check for the accuracy of responses, language clarity, and appropriateness of the tools. Statistical analyses were performed using the binary logistic regression model. Results More than half of the study participants were male, and the median age of the study participants was 70, with an age range of 60–95 years. The prevalence of frailty was 39% (CI 95%, 35.51–43.1). In the final multivariate analysis model, the following factors associated with frailty were obtained: older age (AOR = 6.26 CI (3.41–11.48), presence of two or more comorbidities (AOR = 6.05 CI (3.51–10.43), activity of daily life dependency (AOR = 4.12 CI (2.49–6.80), and depression (AOR = 2.68 CI (1.55–4.63) were found to be significant factors. Conclusion and recommendations Our study provides epidemiological characteristics and the risk factors of frailty in the study area. Efforts to promote physical, psychological, and social health in older adults are a core objective of health policy, especially for older adults aged 80 and above years, and those with two or more comorbidities.

IntroductionData on colorectal cancer (CRC) patients’ thorough management practices and medication-related harms (MRH) are scarce. This study’s aim was to investigate the MRHs in patients receiving CRC chemotherapy at the comprehensive specialized hospital of the University of Gondar (UoGCSH).MethodsA registry-based retrospective cohort study was conducted on CRC patients at the UoGCSH during 2017–2021. From February to May 2022, medical records were reviewed using a pretested data collection tool to collect socio-demographic and disease-related characteristics, MRHs, and medication regimens. MRHs occurrence and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) severity were assessed using standard guidelines and protocols. Version 16/MP of STATA for Windows was used for the analysis. Independent predictors of MRHs were investigated using logistic regression analysis. A p-value ≤0.05 was used to determine an independent variable’s statistical significance.ResultsOne hundred forty three CRC patients were included, with a mean age of 49.9 ± 14.5 years. About 32.9% and 33.6% had stage II and III cancer, respectively. Significant patients had co-morbidities (15.4%) and complications (13.3%). Fluorouracil (5-FU)-based regimens were given to more than half (56%) of the patients. MRHs were found in 53.1% of the patients, with a mean of 2.45 ± 1.37 MRHs. The most common MRHs were the need for additional drug therapy, sub-therapeutic dose, DDIs, and ADRs. Being on stage IV (AOR = 27.7, 95% CI = 3.85–199.38, p = 0.001), having co-morbidity (AOR = 7.42, 95% CI = 1.80–30.59, p = 0.018) and having complication (AOR = 11.04, 95% CI = 1.72–70.95, p = 0.011) and treated with five or more drugs (AOR = 2.54, 95% CI = 1.07–6.07, p = 0.035) were independent predictors of MRHs.ConclusionA fluorouracil-based treatment regimen was most frequently used. MRHs were found in nearly half of CRC patients. Furthermore, MRHs were significantly associated with cancer stage, comorbidity and complication status, and the number of medications used. Because MRHs are common, improving clinical pharmacy services is critical for optimizing drug therapy in CRC patients.
