Approximately 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered by vast oceans. With the exacerbation of global climate change, high-precision monitoring of sea surface height variations is of vital importance for constructing global ocean gravity fields and preventing natural disasters in the marine system. Global Navigation Satellite System Interferometry Reflectometry (GNSS-IR) sea surface altimetry is a method of inferring sea surface height based on the signal-to-noise ratio of satellite signals. It enables the retrieval of sea surface height variations with high precision. However, navigation satellite signals are influenced by the ionosphere during propagation, leading to deviations in the measured values of satellite elevation angles from their true values, which significantly affects the accuracy of GNSS-IR sea surface altimetry. Based on this, the contents of this paper are as follows: Firstly, a new ionospheric stratified elevation angle correction model (ISEACM) was developed by integrating the International Reference Ionosphere Model (IRI) and ray tracing methods. This model aims to improve the accuracy of GNSS-IR sea surface altimetry by correcting the ionospheric refraction effects on satellite elevation angles. Secondly, four GNSS stations (TAR0, PTLD, GOM1, and TPW2) were selected globally, and the corrected sea surface height values obtained using ISEACM were compared with observed values from tide gauge stations. The calculated average Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) were 0.20 m and 0.83, respectively, indicating the effectiveness of ISEACM in sea surface height retrieval. Thirdly, a comparative analysis was conducted between sea surface height retrieval before and after correction using ISEACM. The optimal RMSE and PCC values with tide gauge station observations were 0.15 m and 0.90, respectively, representing a 20.00% improvement in RMSE and a 4.00% improvement in correlation coefficient compared to traditional GNSS-IR retrieval heights. These experimental results demonstrate that correction with ISEACM can effectively enhance the precision of GNSS-IR sea surface altimetry, which is crucial for accurate sea surface height measurements.

Plant flowering time is affected by endogenous and exogenous factors, but its variation patterns among different populations of a species has not been fully established. In this study, 27 Arabidopsis thaliana accessions were used to investigate the relationship between autonomous pathway gene methylation, gene expression and flowering time variation. DNA methylation analysis, RT-qPCR and transgenic verification showed that variation in the flowering time among the Arabidopsis populations ranged from 19 to 55 days and was significantly correlated with methylation of the coding regions of six upstream genes in the autonomous pathway, FLOWERING LOCUS VE (FVE), FLOWERING LOCUS Y (FY), FLOWERING LOCUS D (FLD), PEPPER (PEP), HISTONE DEACETYLASE 5 (HAD5) and Pre-mRNA Processing Protein 39-1 (PRP39-1), as well as their relative expression levels. The expression of FVE and FVE(CS) was modified separately through degenerate codon substitution of cytosine and led to earlier flowering of transgenic plants by 8 days and 25 days, respectively. An accurate determination of methylated sites in FVE and FVE(CS) among those transgenic plants and the recipient Col-0 verified the close relationship between the number of methylation sites, expression and flowering time. Our findings suggest that the methylation variation of these six key upstream transcription factors was associated with the gene expression level of the autonomous pathway and flowering time in Arabidopsis. The FVE(CS) and FVE genes in transgenic plants tended to be hypermethylated, which could be a protective mechanism for plants. However, modification of gene sequences through degenerate codon substitution to reduce cytosine can avoid hypermethylated transferred genes in transgenic plants. It may be possible to partially regulate the flowering of plants by modified trans-epigenetic technology.

The original coarse spatial resolution of Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) data limits its application in small and medium-scale areas. The study proposes a novel random forest-based GRACE drought index (NRFGDI) to enhance the spatial resolution of drought monitoring, which is applied to central Yunnan. We first employed the random forest (RF) algorithm to improve the spatial resolution of GRACE-derived terrestrial water storage anomaly (TWSA) to 0.1°, then established the NRFGDI based on the downscaled TWSA. Subsequently, the NRFGDI was verified using traditional drought indexes, including the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) and the self-calibrating Palmer drought severity index (sc-PDSI), along with the 2009/2010 Bulletin of Flood and Drought Disasters in China. The NRFGDI not only captures drought characteristics, but also offers finer spatial resolution. The study provides an effective means for medium to small-scale drought monitoring, thereby making valuable contributions to decision-making processes concerning droughts in central Yunnan.

This article mainly studies the selection of the matching area in gravity matching navigation systems of underwater vehicles. Firstly, we comprehensively consider 14 types of gravity field feature parameters, and a new gravity field feature parameters selection method is proposed based on feature selection principles and support vector machine algorithms. Secondly, according to the new gravity field feature parameters selection method, the five feature parameters, including range, pooling difference, standard deviation of gravity anomaly, roughness, and correlation coefficient, were selected from the 14 gravity field features parameters. The selected five feature parameters are integrated using SVM, and a classification model is constructed with carefully chosen training and testing sets and parameters for validation. Based on the experimental results, compared to the pre-calibrated results, the classification accuracy of the testing set reaches 91%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the gravity field feature parameter selection method in distinguishing between the suitable and the unsuitable areas. Finally, this method is applied to another area, and we carried out navigation experiments in the areas that were suitable areas in all four directions, as not all areas were suitable in four directions. The results showed that the areas that were suitable in all four directions provided better matching effects, the mean positioning accuracy was less than 100 m, and the accuracy was more than 90%. In path planning, priority can be given to areas that are suitable in all four directions.

Abstract The Moon is the closest natural satellite to mankind, with valuable resources on it, and is an important base station for mankind to enter deep space. How to establish a reasonable lunar Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to provide real-time positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services for Moon exploration and development has become a hot topic for many international scholars. Based on the special spatial configuration characteristics of Libration point orbits (LPOs), the coverage capability of Halo orbits and Distant Retrograde Orbit (DRO) in LPOs is discussed and analyzed in detail. It is concluded that the Halo orbit with a period of 8 days has a better coverage effect on the lunar polar regions and the DRO has a more stable coverage effect on the lunar equatorial regions, and the multi-orbital lunar GNSS constellation with the optimized combination of DRO and Halo orbits is proposed by combining the advantages of both. This multi-orbital constellation can make up for the fact that a single type of orbit requires a larger number of satellites to fully cover the Moon, using a smaller number of satellites for the purpose of providing PNT services to the entire lunar surface. We designed simulation experiments to test whether the multi-orbital constellations meet the full lunar surface positioning requirements, and compare the coverage, positioning, and occultation effects of the four constellation designs that pass the test, and finally obtain a set of well-performing lunar GNSS constellations. The results indicate that the multi-orbital lunar GNSS constellation combining DRO and Halo orbits can cover 100% of the Moon surface, provides there are more than 4 visible satellites at any time on the Moon surface, which meets the navigation and positioning requirements, and the Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) value is stable within 2.0, which can meet the demand for higher precision Moon surface navigation and positioning.

The infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) is a member of the viruses that can induce immunosuppression in chickens. In recent years, more and more IBDV-infected cases by the novel variant IBDV were reported in China, and it has been demonstrated that currently used vaccines could not provide complete protection against these new IBDV variants. However, a lack of comprehensive analysis of the genomic characteristics of the novel variant strain IBDV has hampered its vaccine development. In this study, a strain of IBDV, designated HB202201, was phylogenetically analyzed, and it was found that the hypervariable region (HVR) of VP2 belonged to the novel variant strain. Furthermore, the 5′- and 3′-ends of segments A and B were analyzed using the rapid amplification of cDNA end (RACE) method. After the full-length of segment A and segment B were determined, the phylogenetic analysis of the segment A and segment B showed that the isolated HB202201 belonged to A2dB1 genotype, which demonstrated the HB202201 belonged to the novel variant strain. In addition, the specific mutations in VP1-VP5 amino acids were analyzed, which showed that there were multiple typical mutations in novel variant IBDV proteins, including VP1 (G24, I141, V163, and E240), VP2 (K221, and I252), VP3 (Q167 and L196), and VP5 (R7, P44, R92, G104, and E147), whereas there was no typical mutation in VP4. This study provides insights into the genomic and antigenic characteristics of the novel variant IBDV, which will promote the development of novel vaccine against the novel variant IBDV.

Abstract Because the traditional Cholesky decomposition algorithm still has some problems such as computational complexity and scattered structure among matrices when solving the GNSS ambiguity, it is the key problem to further improve the computational efficiency of the least squares ambiguity reduction correlation process in the carrier phase integer ambiguity solution. But the traditional matrix decomposition calculation is more complex and time-consuming, to improve the efficiency of the matrix decomposition, in this paper, the decomposition process of traditional matrix elements is divided into two steps: multiplication update and column reduction of square root calculation. The column reduction step is used to perform square root calculation and column division calculation, while the update step is used for the update task of multiplication. Based on the above ideas, the existing Cholesky decomposition algorithm is improved, and a column oriented Cholesky (C-Cholesky) algorithm is proposed to further improve the efficiency of matrix decomposition, so as to shorten the calculation time of integer ambiguity reduction correlation. The results show that this method is effective and superior, and can improve the data processing efficiency by about 12.34% on average without changing the integer ambiguity accuracy of the traditional Cholesky algorithm.

To explore the degree of constraint by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data on the Maduo earthquake within a layered earth model structure and to gain an insight into the seismogenic mechanism and the seismic risk in the surrounding area, this study employs D-InSAR technology to acquire the InSAR co-seismic deformation field of the Maduo earthquake on 22 May 2021. Utilizing both GNSS and InSAR data, the inversions constrained by single and joint data are conducted and compared to determine the co-seismic slip model and fault plane stress distribution of the Maduo earthquake. Additionally, this paper calculates the Coulomb stress changes induced by 14 M ≥ 7 strong earthquakes, considering co-seismic effects, post-seismic viscoelastic relaxation, and inter-seismic tectonic stress loading, on 19 fault segments within the Bayan Har block research area (96°E~106°E, 29°N~36°N) since 1900. The findings are as follows: (1) The maximum line-of-sight (LOS) deformation was approximately 0.9 m. The joint inversion rupture was primarily located in the Dongcao Along Lake section (~98.6°E), aligning with previous research outcomes. (2) The cumulative Coulomb stress at the Maduo earthquake’s source location was −0.1333 MPa, while the inter-seismic stress loading amounted to 0.0745 MPa. The East Kunlun Fault, Maduo–Gande Fault, Ganzi–Yushu Fault, and Dari Fault C exhibited considerable stress loading, warranting attention due to heightened seismic risk. (3) Based on three different co-seismic slip models, the stress disturbance results caused by the Maduo earthquake to the surrounding area and fault did not differ significantly. After the earthquake, the seismogenic fault still has high seismic risk.

Cycle slip determination plays an important role in high-precision data processing and application of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). The TurboEdit method consists of the Melbourne-Wubbena (MW) and the geometry-free phase (GF) combination. It can correctly detect and repair cycle slip in most cases. Cycle slip detection (CSD) with GF is disturbed by severe ionospheric delay variations; moreover, CSD or cycle slip repair (CSR) with the MW faces the risk of the disturbance from large pseudorange errors. Hence, cycle slip determination would be difficult under some extreme conditions, e.g., cycle slips occur in low altitude satellite, low sampling rate of dual-frequency observations. To overcome the limitations, a new dual-frequency CSD and CSR method is proposed. The main contents are as follows: (1) compared with the MW method, the Doppler-assisted phase subtraction pseudorange (DAPSP) method that we proposed has no detection blind spot and can effectively reduce the influence of pseudorange noise at high sampling rates; thus, we replace MW by the DAPSP method to improve the detection accuracy. (2) An adaptive threshold model with root mean square (RMS) is established to effectively reduce the missing and false range detection of cycle slip. (3) The sliding polynomial fitting-assisted GF (SPFAGF) is carried out according to the satellite altitude angle. The trend of ionospheric delay and residual multipath effect error between adjacent epochs is extracted and suppressed by SPFAGF. The method combined with DAPSP and SPFAGF (DAPSP-SPFAGF) overcomes the situation that the TurboEdit method cannot effectively detect under extreme conditions. The experimental results of Beidou dual-frequency observation data show that the TurboEdit method and the DAPSP-SPFAGF method can perform CSD and CSR in most cases. At the sampling rate of 1 s, the detection speed of DAPSP-SPFAGF method is significantly faster than TurboEdit method. The number of false positives about CSD is reduced from 68 to 0. At the sampling rate of 30 s and under the condition of the observed satellite altitude angle below 30°, the false alarm rate of the DAPSP-SPFAGF method is 0, but the TurboEdit method’s false alarm rate is 71.2%. So DAPSP-SPFAGF method is prior to the TurboEdit method at the high sampling rates or under extreme conditions, especially it can accurately detect and repair cycle slip and reduce the false positives and false alarm rate.

The bistatic global navigation satellite system’s (GNSS) signal reflection technology has become an effective means of space-based sea surface wind field retrieval and height retrieval. By adopting a wider signal bandwidth, a higher pulse-limited footprint resolution can be achieved. However, for the GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) system, its signal bandwidth is affected by the signal bandwidth of the GNSS satellite, which limits the further improvement of the pulse-limited footprint resolution. This article proposes a method based on the novel signal bandwidth joint principle to improve the resolution of GNSS-R pulse-limited footprints. Firstly, currently in-orbit GNSS-R satellites use the traditional single frequency band (TSFB) method, which is limited by the GNSS satellite’s signals and has a theoretical upper limit on its signal bandwidth. In response to this issue, this article proposes the novel joint bandwidth (NJBW) method (Galileo E5a and E5b signals) based on the auto-correlation function (ACF) signal ambiguity theory. The NJBW method reduces the main lobe width of the ACF of the GNSS-R signal by jointly processing the signals of E5a and E5b frequency bands, thus improving the pulse-limit footprint resolution of GNSS-R. Secondly, in order to verify the improvement effect of the novel joint bandwidth method on the pulse-limited footprint resolution of GNSS-R, this paper designs and fabricates an NJBW antenna verification prototype for the joint Galileo E5a and E5b frequency band and tests it in a microwave anechoic chamber. The test results indicate that the radio frequency (RF) bandwidth of the NJBW antenna validation prototype can cover both the frequency bands of E5a and E5b, making it suitable for use as the NJBW method for the GNSS-R receiving antenna. The bandwidth test values of the NJBW antenna validation prototype are consistent with the design values, which verifies the correctness of the NJBW antenna design model and further proves the feasibility of the NJBW method. Thirdly, based on the joint Galileo E5a and E5b frequency band signals, the NJBW method was applied to analyze the improvement effect of the pulse-limited footprint resolution. Compared to the TSFB method, the application of the NJBW method can increase the resolution of the GNSS-R pulse-limiting footprint by 1.73 times, which effectively improves the performance of the GNSS-R system. The NJBW method proposed in this article provides the theoretical method foundation and key technical support for sea surface wind field retrieval and height retrieval and the antenna design for the future high-precision and high pulse-limited footprint resolution GNSS-R sea surface wind field retrieval and height retrieval verification satellite.

The results of numerical research on boiling heat transfer of R410A refrigerant in an elliptic tube with four microchannels and micro fins are presented in this paper. The boiling performance of elliptic microchannel tubes with different inlet vapor qualities is studied, keeping saturation temperature constant at 278.15 K corresponding to the saturation pressure at 93,623 Pa with 3 kW/m2 heat flux and 150 kg/(m2s) mass flux. The Martinelli parameter, heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop, and so on are investigated in the present paper. The CFD results are compared with and verified by the previous two-phase heat transfer correlations. The discrepancies in flow rate, heat transfer performance, and two-phase flow pattern between the middle and the two sides of the elliptic tube are compared. The velocity field and flow trajectory of gas-liquid two-phase flow in the elliptic tube microchannels are discussed and analysed. The results show that when the inlet vapor quality is high, there will be a distinct heat transfer deterioration area in the microchannels during the boiling process. The large area of gas film can weaken the heat transfer performance of the microchannel heat exchanger up to 35.42 % in the region without micro fin. The local highest heat transfer coefficient can reach 2,886.8 W/(m2K) in the physical model. The micro fins can not only increase the heat transfer area and enhance the nucleate boiling but also divide the gas film to form a local annular flow pattern and inhibit the deterioration of boiling heat transfer. The present paper is of great significance for scientific utilization and optimization of the heat exchanger, the reduction of energy consumption, and the enhancement of the exergy efficiency of the system.

In this paper, a new R744 heat pump system is studied. The gas cooler, evaporator, indoor heat core, and indoor gas cooler are all micro-channel heat exchangers. The R744 high pressure system adopts a combination of an accumulator and internal heat exchanger (ACCU/IHX). In addition, an electronic reversible regulating valve is added before the outdoor gas cooler, making the outdoor heat exchanger able to be used as a gas cooler or evaporator. The water-cooled condenser can improve the performance in the cooling or heating mode. The research contents contain the performance and optimal pressure under extreme conditions as a result of the experiments. The results show that the cooling capacity can reach 8.2 kW with a COP of 1.87, under a 40 °C external circulation intake. The cooling capacity on the battery side can reach 11 kW under an ambient temperature of 40 °C, which can provide a sufficient cooling capacity. Under an ambient temperature of −20 °C, the maximum heating capacity can reach 6.86 kW with a COP of 1.67. Under an ambient temperature of −15 °C, the heating capacity reaches 5.07 kW with a COP of 1.78, when the indoor air volume flow rate is 200 m3/h. Obviously, R744 heat pumps show a huge advantage, compared with the traditional PTC heating or R134a heat pumps at extremely low temperatures.

A robust metal- and solvent-free cascade radical-induced C-N cleavage/intramolecular 6-endo-dig annulation/hydrocarbonylation for the synthesis of the valuable 2-aryl-4H-chromen-4-ones is described. This practical synthesis strategy utilizes propargylamines and air as the oxygen source and green carbonylation reagent, in which propargylamines are activated by the inexpensive and available dimethyl 2,2′-azobis(2-methylpropionate) (AIBME) and (PhSe)2 as the radical initiators. This simple and green protocol features wide substrate adaptability, good functional group tolerance, and amenability to scaling up and derivatizations.

Abstract The important role of a humidity conversion factor in mapping the zenith wet delay (ZWD) onto precipitable water vapour (PWV) makes it a vital parameter in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) meteorology. The accuracy of the humidity conversion factor depends mainly on the quality of the atmospheric weighted mean temperature (Tm) calculation. Several effective models have been developed to calculate Tm with parameters such as the station's location, date of measurement and surface temperature. However, the drawbacks of these models, including low accuracy in some areas and complex model functions, cannot be ignored because they prevent further application in atmosphere analysis. Therefore, a new discrete integral formula for highly accurate calculation of Tm is proposed. Moreover, the linear relationships between time, surface temperature (Ts), height (H) and Tm are well studied based on radiosonde and Constellation Observation System for Meteorology Ionosphere and Climate (COSMIC) historical data (2007–2015). A new regional Tm model was investigated on the basis of parameters time, Ts and H in Hong Kong, China. The evaluation results indicate that the improvement of Tm derived from the new integral is > 4.6 K based on radiosonde data. In addition, the statistical results of Tm with different sampling based on radiosonde data and a COSMIC “wetPrf” profile show that the improvement of Tm derived from the new integral are > 2.10 and 2.75 K, respectively. Finally, wetPrf profiles collocated with Hong Kong and the 45,004 radiosonde station collected from January 1 to October 31, 2016, are used to evaluate the accuracy of the new Tm model. Compared with the Bevis model, the statistical results indicate that the Tm accuracy is improved by 34.75%. Therefore, the model for Ts and time is suggested to estimate the Tm in Hong Kong.

The regenerative cooling technology is a promising approach for effective thermal protection of propulsion and power-generation systems. A mathematical model has been used to examine fluid flows and heat transfer of the aviation kerosene RP-3 with endothermic fuel pyrolysis at a supercritical pressure of 5 MPa. A pyrolytic reaction mechanism, which consists of 18 species and 24 elementary reactions, is incorporated to account for fuel pyrolysis. Detailed model validations are conducted against a series of experimental data, including fluid temperature, fuel conversion rate, various product yields, and chemical heat sink, fully verifying the accuracy and reliability of the model. Effects of fuel pyrolysis and inlet flow velocity on flow dynamics and heat transfer characteristics of RP-3 are investigated. Results reveal that the endothermic fuel pyrolysis significantly improves the heat transfer process in the high fluid temperature region. During the supercritical-pressure heat transfer process, the flow velocity significantly increases, caused by the drastic variations of thermophysical properties. Under all the tested conditions, the Nusselt number initially increases, consistent with the increased flow velocity, and then slightly decreases in the high fluid temperature region, mainly owing to the decreased heat absorption rate from the endothermic pyrolytic chemical reactions.

Abstract Asthma exacerbations caused by respiratory viral infections are a serious global health problem. Impaired antiviral immunity is thought to contribute to the pathogenesis, but the underlying mechanisms remain understudied. Here using mouse models we find that Cullin5 (CUL5), a key component of Cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase 5, is upregulated and associated with increased neutrophil count and influenza-induced exacerbations of house dust mite-induced asthma. By contrast, CUL5 deficiency mitigates neutrophilic lung inflammation and asthma exacerbations by augmenting IFN-β production. Mechanistically, following thymic stromal lymphopoietin stimulation, CUL5 interacts with O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) and induces Lys48-linked polyubiquitination of OGT, blocking the effect of OGT on mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein O-GlcNAcylation and RIG-I signaling activation. Our results thus suggest that, in mouse models, pre-existing allergic injury induces CUL5 expression, impairing antiviral immunity and promoting neutrophilic inflammation for asthma exacerbations. Targeting of the CUL5/IFN-β signaling axis may thereby serve as a possible therapy for treating asthma exacerbations.
