With increasing mental health problems witnessed among students, adequately addressing their well-being is becoming important on college campuses. This study compares international and domestic graduate students in the United States on domains that are relevant to both student groups (perfectionistic personality, academic stress) and how these factors combinedly predict satisfaction with life. With 531 international and 359 domestic graduate students, results found support for perfectionism and academic stress predicting life satisfaction in both groups with notable similarities and differences. For perfectionists in both student groups, the level of academic stress was an important factor that determined satisfaction with life. Interestingly, for international students only, the perfectionism dimension of standards, which has been traditionally considered adaptive, functioned in a maladaptive way. Findings from this study suggest that international and domestic students share similarities and differences that should be noted.

This paper provides an overview of virtue development in the training of Catholic Sisters in Africa and showcases how virtue attainment positions them to be exceptional leaders that promote advances in the state of education in Africa. Additionally, the authors briefly discuss the role of the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC), an international nonprofit organization, in the strengthening of this population's leadership abilities. Three success stories are presented which demonstrate how the education-related work of Catholic Sisters in Africa across traditional and nontraditional settings, is catalyzing positive change in communities and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa.

OBJECTIVE:This investigation comprehensively assessed the technology use, preferences, and capacity of diverse injured trauma survivors with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. METHOD:A total of 121 patients participating in a randomized clinical trial (RCT) of stepped collaborative care targeting PTSD symptoms were administered baseline one-, three-, and six-month interviews that assessed technology use. Longitudinal data about the instability of patient cell phone ownership and phone numbers were collected from follow-up interviews. PTSD symptoms were also assessed over the course of the six months after injury. Regression analyses explored the associations between cell phone instability and PTSD symptoms. RESULTS:At baseline, 71.9% (n = 87) of patients reported current cell phone ownership, and over half (58.2%, n = 46) of these patients possessed basic cell phones. Only 19.0% (n = 23) of patients had no change in cell phone number or physical phone over the course of the six months postinjury. ObjectiveWe sought to develop a list of 5 tests, treatments, or services commonly used in rheumatology practice whose necessity or value should be questioned and discussed by physicians and patients.MethodsWe used a multistage process combining consensus methodology and literature reviews to arrive at the American College of Rheumatology's (ACR) Top 5 list. Rheumatologists from diverse practice settings generated items using the Delphi method. Items with high content agreement and perceived high prevalence advanced to a survey of ACR members, who comprise >90% of the US rheumatology workforce. To increase the response rate, a nested random sample of 390 rheumatologists received more intensive survey followup. The samples were combined and weighting procedures were applied to ensure generalizability. Items with high ratings underwent literature review. Final items were then selected and formulated by the task force.ResultsOne hundred five unique items were proposed and narrowed down to 22 items during the Delphi rounds. A total of 1,052 rheumatologists (17% of those contacted) participated in the member-wide survey, whereas 33% of those in the nested random sample participated; respondent characteristics were similar in both samples. Based on survey results and available scientific evidence, 5 items (relating to antinuclear antibodies, Lyme disease, magnetic resonance imaging, bone absorptiometry, and biologic therapy for rheumatoid arthritis) were selected for inclusion.ConclusionThe ACR Top 5 list is intended to promote discussions between physicians and patients about health care practices in rheumatology whose use should be questioned and to assist rheumatologists in providing high-value care.

Aims: The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency Yellow Card scheme (YCS) is the UK's system that collects spontaneous reports about suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Reporting of suspected ADRs by young people (age <19 years) in the UK is extremely uncommon, driving efforts to improve awareness and reporting. Methods: Quality improvement project, using an anonymous online survey about updated information for young people, distributed through school pupils (age 13–18 years) across the UK through the Alder Hey Research Ambassador programme. Results: Research Ambassadors were recruited in 21 schools and colleges, generating 2933 responses (15 November 2022–08 April 2023); 6.3% of respondents had heard of the YCS, and 0.8% had previously reported a Yellow Card. There were 307 suspected drug–event combinations reported, 36 of which required attendance at hospital. The updated YCS reporting guide was understood by 92.8% of young people, and 90.8% reported knowing more about ADRs after reading the guide. The percentage of young people 'Not comfortable' reporting a suspected ADR decreased from 13.3% (before reading) to 4.1% after reading (P <.000001), and 84.5% of young people reported willingness to report a side effect in the future. The most common comments regarding further improvement of the information were content, or length of the text could be altered in some way (n = 543, 26.1%) and graphic design could be improved (n = 357, 17.2%). Conclusions: The age‐appropriate information provided met many of their needs, increasing willingness to report. Integration into existing education curricula in the UK would facilitate knowledge transfer and improve reporting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
