We present a measurement of the partial branching fractions and mass spectra of the exclusive radiative penguin processes B-->Kpipigamma in the range m(Kpipi)pi(+)pi(-). Using 232 x 10(6) e(+)e(-)-->BB events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy storage ring, we measure the branching fractions B(B(+)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(+)gamma)=[2.95+/-0.13(stat)+/-0.20(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(0)gamma)=[4.07+/-0.22(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(-)gamma)=[1.85+/-0.21(stat)+/-0.12(syst)] x 10(-5), and B(B(+)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(0)gamma)=[4.56+/-0.42(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5).

We present a simultaneous measurement of the B̄0 lifetime τB0 and B0B̄0 oscillation frequency Δmd. We use a sample of about 50000 partially reconstructed B̄0→D*+ℓ-ν̄ℓ decays identified with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at SLAC. The flavor of the other B meson in the event is determined from the charge of another high-momentum lepton. The results are τB0=(1.504±0.013(stat)- 0.013+0.018(syst))ps, Δmd=(0.511±0.007(stat)-0.006+0.007(syst))ps- 1. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

A search for lepton-flavor and lepton-number violation in the decay of the tau lepton into one charged lepton and two charged hadrons is performed using 221.4 fb(-1) of data collected at an e+e- center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II storage ring. In all 14 decay modes considered, the observed data are compatible with background expectations, and upper limits are set in the range B(tau-->lhh')

We present measurements of the branching fractions for the three-body decays B0 --> D(*)-/+K0pi+/- and their resonant submodes B0 --> D(*)-/+K*+/-using a sample of approximately 88 x 10(6) BB pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric energy storage ring. We measure: B(B0 --> D-/+K0pi+/-) = (4.9 +/- 0.7stat +/- 0.5syst) x 10(-4), B(B0 --> D*-/+K0pi+/-) = (3.0 +/- 0.7stat +/- 0.3syst) x 10(-4), B(B0 --> D-/+K*+/-) = (4.6 +/- 0.6stat +/- 0.5syst) x 10(-4), B(B0 --> D*-/+K*+/-) = (3.2 +/- 0.6stat +/- 0.3syst) x 10(-4). From these measurements we determine the fractions of resonant events to be f(B0 --> D-/+K*+/-) = 0.63 +/- 0.08stat +/- 0.04syst and f(B0 --> D*-/+K*+/-) = 0.72 +/- 0.14stat +/-0.05syst.

We present an updated measurement of time-dependent CP asymmetries and the CP-odd fraction in the decay B0-->D*+D*- using 232x10(6)BB pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B factory. We determine the CP-odd fraction to be 0.125+/-0.044(stat)+/-0.007(syst). The time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters C+ and S+ are determined to be 0.06+/-0.17(stat)+/-0.03(syst) and -0.75+/-0.25(stat)+/-0.03(syst), respectively. The standard model predicts these parameters to be 0 and -sin2beta, respectively, in the absence of penguin amplitude contributions.

The branching fraction of the τ-→3h-2h+ντ decay (h=π,K) is measured with the BABAR detector to be (8.56±0.05±0.42) ×10-4, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The observed structure of this decay is significantly different from the phase space prediction, with the ρ resonance playing a strong role. The decay τ-→f1(1285)π-ντ, with the f1(1285) meson decaying to four charged pions, is observed and the branching fraction is measured to be (3.9±0.7±0.5)×10-4. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We report the observation of the decay B-→Dπ+π-π0K-, where Dπ+π-π0 indicates a neutral D meson detected in the final state π+π-π0, excluding KS0π0. This doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay chain can be used to measure the CKM phase γ. Using about 229×106 e+e-→BB̄ events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring, we measure the branching fraction B(B-→Dπ+π-π0K-)= (5.5±1.0(stat.)±0.7(syst.))×10-6 and the decay rate asymmetry A(B-→Dπ+π-π0K-)=-0.02±0.16(stat.)±0. 03(syst.) for the full decay chain. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Using 116.1 fb(-1) of data collected by the BABAR detector, we present an analysis of xi(c)(0) production in B decays and from the cc continuum, with the xi(c)(0) decaying into omega- K+ and xi- pi+ final states. We measure the ratio of branching fractions B(xi(c)(0) --> omega- K+)/B(xi(c)(0) --> xi- pi+) spectrum is measured on and 40 MeV below the upsilon(4S) resonance. From these spectra the branching fraction product B(B --> xi(c)(0)X) x B(xi(c)(0) --> xi- pi+) is measured to be (2.11 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.25) x 10(-4), and the cross-section product sigma(e+ e- --> xi(c)(0)X) x B(xi(c)(0) --> xi- pi+) from the continuum is measured to be (388 +/- 39 +/- 41) fb at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV.

We present a first measurement of CP asymmetries in neutral B decays to D+D-, and updated CP asymmetry measurements in decays to D(*+)D- and D(*-)D+. We use fully reconstructed decays collected in a data sample of (232+/-3) x 10(6) gamma(4S)-->BB events in the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We determine the time-dependent asymmetry parameters to be SD(*+)(D-)=-0.54+/-0.35+/-0.07, CD(*+)(D-)=0.09+/-0.25+/-0.06, SD(*-)(D+)=-0.29+/-0.33+/-0.07, CD(*-)(D+)=0.17+/-0.24+/-0.04, SD+(D-)=-0.29+/-0.63+/-0.06, and CD+(D-)=0.11+/-0.35+/-0.06, where in each case the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic.

We present measurements of branching fractions and charge asymmetries for six B-meson decay modes with an eta or eta(') meson in the final state. The data sample corresponds to 232 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) B Factory at SLAC. We measure the branching fractions (in units of 10(-6)): B(B+ -->eta pi(+))=5.1+/-0.6+/-0.3, B(B+ etaK+)=3.3+/-0.6+/-0.3, B(B0-->etaK0)=1.5+/-0.7+/-0.1 (eta rho(+))=8.4+/-1.9+/-1.1, B(B0-->eta omiga)=1.0+/-0.5+/-0.2 (eta(')pi(+))=4.0+/-0.8+/-0.4, where the first uncertainty is statistical and second systematic. For the charged modes we also determine the charge asymmetries, all found to be compatible with zero.

The first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third reflects the Dalitz model uncertainty. The results for the strong and weak phases have a twofold ambiguity.

We present a determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vub| based on the analysis of semileptonic B decays from a sample of 88 x 10(6) Gamma(4S) decays collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e+e- storage ring. Charmless semileptonic B decays are selected using measurements of the electron energy and the invariant mass squared of the electron-neutrino pair. We obtain |Vub| =(3.95 +/- 0.26(+0.58)(-0.42) +/- 0.25) x 10(-3), where the errors represent experimental uncertainties, heavy quark parameter uncertainties, and theoretical uncertainties, respectively.

A Dalitz plot analysis of approximately 12500 D0 events reconstructed in the hadronic decay D0→K̄0K+K- is presented. This analysis is based on a data sample of 91.5fb-1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage rings at SLAC running at center-of-mass energies on and 40 MeV below the Υ(4S) resonance. The events are selected from e+e-→cc̄ annihilations using the decay D*+→D0π+. The following ratio of branching fractions has been obtained: BR= Γ(D0→K̄0K+K-)Γ(D0→K̄0π+π-)=(15.8±0. 1(stat.)±0.5(syst.))×10-2. Estimates of fractions and phases for resonant and nonresonant contributions to the Dalitz plot are also presented. The a0(980)→K̄K projection has been extracted with little background. A search for CP asymmetries on the Dalitz plot has been performed. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

With a sample of 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector, we study the decay B+→pp̄K+ excluding charmonium decays to pp̄. We measure a branching fraction B(B+→pp̄K+)=(6.7±0.5±0.4)×10-6. An enhancement at low pp̄ mass is observed and the Dalitz plot asymmetry suggests dominance of the penguin amplitude in this B decay. We search for a pentaquark candidate Θ*++ decaying into pK+ in the mass range 1.43 to 2.00GeV/c2 and set limits on B(B+→Θ*++p̄)×B(Θ*++→pK+) at the 10-7 level. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We present an analysis of exclusive charmless semileptonic B-meson decays based on 83×106 BB̄ pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. Using isospin symmetry, we measure branching fractions B(B0→π- +ν)=(1.38±0.10±0.16±0.08)×10-4 and B(B0→ρ- +ν)=(2.14±0.21±0.48±0.28)×10-4, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, and due to form-factor shape uncertainties. We compare the measured distribution in q2, the momentum-transfer squared, with theoretical predictions for the form factors from lattice QCD and light-cone sum rules, and extract the Cabibbo-Kobayashi- Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |Vub|=(3.82±0.14±0.22±0.11-0. 52+0.88)×10-3 from B→π ν, where the fourth error reflects the uncertainty of the form-factor normalization. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We search for B-→D0K- and B-→D*0K- and charge conjugates. Here the symbol D0 indicates decay of a D0 or D̄0 into K+π-, while the symbol D*0 indicates decay of a D*0 or D̄*0 to D0π0 or D0γ. These final states can be reached through the b→c transition B-→D(*)0K- followed by the doubly Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM)-suppressed D0→K+π-, or the b→u transition B-→D̄(*)0K- followed by the CKM-favored D̄0→K+π-. The interference of these two amplitudes is sensitive to the angle γ of the unitarity triangle. Our results are based on 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We find no significant evidence for these decays. We set a limit rB|A(B-→D̄0K-)/A(B-→D0K-)|

We study e+e-→J/ψcc̄ by measuring the invariant mass distribution recoiling against fully reconstructed J/ψ decays, using 124fb-1 of data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV with the BABAR detector. We observe signals for ηc(1S), χc0, and ηc(2S) in the recoil mass distribution, thus confirming previous measurements. We measure σ(e+e-→J/ψ+cc̄)B(cc̄→>2charged) to be 17.6±2.8(stat)-2.1+1.5(syst)fb, 10.3±2.5(stat)-1.8+1.4(syst)fb, and 16.4±3.7(stat)-3.0+2.4(syst)fb with cc̄=ηc(1S), χc0, and ηc(2S), respectively. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We present results from an analysis of B(0)B(0)--> rho(+)rho(-) using 232 x 10(6) Gamma (4S) --> BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. We measure the longitudinal polarization fraction f(L) = 0.978 +/- 0.014(stat) + 0.021 / -0.029(syst) and the CP-violating parameters S(L)= -0.33 +/- 0.24(stat) + 0.08 / -0.14(syst) and C(L)= -0.03 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.09(syst). Using an isospin analysis of B --> rhorho decays, we determine the unitarity triangle parameter alpha. The solution compatible with the standard model is alpha = (100 +/- 13) degrees.

We report the first measurement of the branching fraction f(00) for Gamma(4S) --> B(0)B(0). The data sample consists of 81.7 fb(-1) collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) storage ring. Using partial reconstruction of the decay B(0) --> D(*+) l(-)nu(l) in which only the charged lepton and the soft pion from the decay D(*+) --> D(0)pi(+) are reconstructed, we obtain f(00) = 0.487 +/- 0.010(stat) +/- 0.008(syst). Our result does not depend on the branching fractions of B(0) --> D(*+)l(-)nu(l) and D(*+) --> D(0)pi(+) decays, on the ratio of the charged and neutral B meson lifetimes, nor on the assumption of isospin symmetry.

We present a search for the decay B(-)--> tau(-)nu(tau) in a sample of 88.9 x 10(6) BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center B factory. One of the two B mesons from the Gamma(4S) is reconstructed in a hadronic or a semileptonic final state, and the decay products of the other B in the event are analyzed for consistency with a B(-) --> tau(-)nu(tau) decay. We find no evidence of a signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(B(-) --> tau(-) nu(tau)) < 4.2 x 10(-4) at the 90% confidence level.

We search for strange-pentaquark states that have been previously reported by other experiments--the Theta (1540)(+), Xi(5)(1860)(--), and Xi(5)(1860)(0)--in 123 fb(-1) of data recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) storage ring. We find no evidence for these states and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the number of Theta(1540)(+) and Xi(5)(1860)(--) pentaquarks produced per e(+)e(-) annihilation into qq and Gamma(4S) decay. For qq events the Theta(1540)(+) [Xi(5)(1860)(--)] limit is about 8 [4] times lower than the rates measured for ordinary baryons of similar mass.

We present results from an analysis of B(0)B(0)--> rho(+)rho(-) using 232 x 10(6) Gamma (4S) --> BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. We measure the longitudinal polarization fraction f(L) = 0.978 +/- 0.014(stat) + 0.021 / -0.029(syst) and the CP-violating parameters S(L)= -0.33 +/- 0.24(stat) + 0.08 / -0.14(syst) and C(L)= -0.03 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.09(syst). Using an isospin analysis of B --> rhorho decays, we determine the unitarity triangle parameter alpha. The solution compatible with the standard model is alpha = (100 +/- 13) degrees.

A search for the decay of the τ lepton to seven charged pions and one or zero π0 mesons was performed using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The analysis uses 232.2fb-1 of data at center-of-mass energies on or near the Υ(4S) resonance. We observe 24 events with an expected background of 21.6±1.3 events. Without evidence for a signal, we calculate an upper limit of B(τ-→4π-3π+(π0) ντ)

We obtain a branching fraction of (6.9(+0.9)(-0.8)+/-0.6) x 10(-6), and CP asymmetries C=-0.34(+0.28)(-0.25)+/-0.05 and S=-0.71(+0.38)(-0.32)+/-0.04, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

We present a search for the decays B0-->e+ e-, B0-->mu+ mu-, and B0-->e (+/-) mu (-/+) in data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC B Factory. Using a data set of 111 fb(-1), we find no evidence for a signal in any of the three channels investigated and set the following branching fraction upper limits at the 90% confidence level: B(B0-->e+ e-) < 6.1 x 10(-8), B(B0-->mu+ mu-) < 8.3 x 10(-8), and B(B0-->e (+/-) mu (-/+) )

We have measured the process B±→ (K*±→K±π0)π0 with 232×106 Υ(4S) →BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. From a signal yield of 89±26 events we obtain the branching fraction B(B±→K*±π0)=[6. 9±2.0(stat)±1.3(syst)]×10-6 with a statistical significance of 3.6 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties, and a charge asymmetry of 0.04±0.29(stat)±0.05(syst). © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We present a measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in decays of neutral B mesons to the final states D* π±, using approximately 232×106 BB̄ events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring. Events containing these decays are selected with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the high-momentum π± from the B decay and the low-momentum π from the D* decay are used. We measure the parameters related to 2β+γ to be aD*π=-0. 034±0.014±0.009 and cD*π =-0.019±0.022±0. 013. With some theoretical assumptions, we interpret our results in terms of the lower limits |sin (2β+γ)|>0.62(0.35) at 68% (90%) confidence level. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

We present measurements of the B --> eta(')K branching fractions; for B(+) --> eta(')K(+) we measure also the time-integrated charge asymmetry Alpha(ch), and for B(0) --> eta(')K(0)(S) the time-dependent CP-violation parameters S and C. The data sample corresponds to 232 x 10(6) BB pairs produced by e(+)e(-) annihilation at the Upsilon (4S). The results are Beta(B --> eta(')K(+)) = (68.9 +/- 2.0 +/- 3.2) x 10(-6), Beta(B(0) --> eta(')K(0)) = (67.4 +/- 3.2) x 10(-6), Alpha(ch) = 0.033 +/- 0.028 +/- 0.005, S = 0.30 +/- 0.140 +/- 0.02, and C = -0.21 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.02, where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic.
