Currently, most traffic simulations require residents’ travel plans as input data; however, in real scenarios, it is difficult to obtain real residents’ travel behavior data for various reasons, such as a large amount of data and the protection of residents’ privacy. This study proposes a method combining a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory network (LSTM) for analyzing and compensating spatiotemporal features in residents’ travel data. By exploiting the spatial feature extraction capability of CNNs and the advantages of LSTMs in processing time-series data, the aim is to achieve a traffic simulation close to a real scenario using limited data by modeling travel time and space. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this article is closer to the real data in terms of the average traveling distance compared with the use of the modulation method and the statistical estimation method. The new strategy we propose can significantly reduce the deviation of the model from the original data, thereby significantly reducing the basic error rate by about 50%.

Fruit and vegetable freshness testing can improve the efficiency of agricultural product management, reduce resource waste and economic losses, and plays a vital role in increasing the added value of fruit and vegetable agricultural products. At present, the detection of fruit and vegetable freshness mainly relies on manual feature extraction combined with machine learning. However, manual extraction of features has the problem of poor adaptability, resulting in low efficiency in fruit and vegetable freshness detection. Although exist some studies that have introduced deep learning methods to automatically learn deep features that characterize the freshness of fruits and vegetables to cope with the diversity and variability in complex scenes. However, the performance of these studies on fruit and vegetable freshness detection needs to be further improved. Based on this, this paper proposes a novel method that fusion of different deep learning models to extract the features of fruit and vegetable images and the correlation between various areas in the image, so as to detect the freshness of fruits and vegetables more objectively and accurately. First, the image size in the dataset is resized to meet the input requirements of the deep learning model. Then, deep features characterizing the freshness of fruits and vegetables are extracted by the fused deep learning model. Finally, the parameters of the fusion model were optimized based on the detection performance of the fused deep learning model, and the performance of fruit and vegetable freshness detection was evaluated. Experimental results show that the CNN_BiLSTM deep learning model, which fusion convolutional neural network (CNN) and bidirectional long-short term memory neural network (BiLSTM), is combined with parameter optimization processing to achieve an accuracy of 97.76% in detecting the freshness of fruits and vegetables. The research results show that this method is promising to improve the performance of fruit and vegetable freshness detection.

Background Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a disease that manifests itself with a deterioration in all mental activities, daily activities, and behaviors, especially memory, due to the constantly increasing damage to some parts of the brain as people age. Detecting AD at an early stage is a significant challenge. Various diagnostic devices are used to diagnose AD. Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) devices are widely used to analyze and classify the stages of AD. However, the time-consuming process of recording the affected areas of the brain in the images obtained from these devices is another challenge. Therefore, conventional techniques cannot detect the early stage of AD. Methods In this study, we proposed a deep learning model supported by a fusion loss model that includes fully connected layers and residual blocks to solve the above-mentioned challenges. The proposed model has been trained and tested on the publicly available T1-weighted MRI-based KAGGLE dataset. Data augmentation techniques were used after various preliminary operations were applied to the data set. Results The proposed model effectively classified four AD classes in the KAGGLE dataset. The proposed model reached the test accuracy of 0.973 in binary classification and 0.982 in multi-class classification thanks to experimental studies and provided a superior classification performance than other studies in the literature. The proposed method can be used online to detect AD and has the feature of a system that will help doctors in the decision-making process.

This paper investigates new feature extraction and regression methods for predicting cuffless blood pressure from PPG signals. Cuffless blood pressure is a technology that measures blood pressure without needing a cuff. This technology can be used in various medical applications, including home health monitoring, clinical uses, and portable devices. The new feature extraction method involves extracting meaningful features (time and chaotic features) from the PPG signals in the prediction of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) values. These extracted features are then used as inputs to regression models, which are used to predict cuffless blood pressure. The regression model performances were evaluated using root mean squared error (RMSE), R2, mean square error (MSE), and the mean absolute error (MAE). The obtained RMSE was 4.277 for systolic blood pressure (SBP) values using the Matérn 5/2 Gaussian process regression model. The obtained RMSE was 2.303 for diastolic blood pressure (DBP) values using the rational quadratic Gaussian process regression model. The results of this study have shown that the proposed feature extraction and regression models can predict cuffless blood pressure with reasonable accuracy. This study provides a novel approach for predicting cuffless blood pressure and can be used to develop more accurate models in the future.

This study uses machine learning to perform the hearing test (audiometry) processes autonomously with EEG signals. Sounds with different amplitudes and wavelengths given to the person tested in standard hearing tests are assigned randomly with the interface designed with MATLAB GUI. The person stated that he heard the random size sounds he listened to with headphones but did not take action if he did not hear them. Simultaneously, EEG (electro-encephalography) signals were followed, and the waves created in the brain by the sounds that the person attended and did not hear were recorded. EEG data generated at the end of the test were pre-processed, and then feature extraction was performed. The heard and unheard information received from the MATLAB interface was combined with the EEG signals, and it was determined which sounds the person heard and which they did not hear. During the waiting period between the sounds given via the interface, no sound was given to the person. Therefore, these times are marked as not heard in EEG signals. In this study, brain signals were measured with Brain Products Vamp 16 EEG device, and then EEG raw data were created using the Brain Vision Recorder program and MATLAB. After the data set was created from the signal data produced by the heard and unheard sounds in the brain, machine learning processes were carried out with the PYTHON programming language. The raw data created with MATLAB was taken with the Python programming language, and after the pre-processing steps were completed, machine learning methods were applied to the classification algorithms. Each raw EEG data has been detected by the Count Vectorizer method. The importance of each EEG signal in all EEG data has been calculated using the TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency) method. The obtained dataset has been classified according to whether people can hear the sound. Naïve Bayes, Light Gradient Strengthening Machine (LGBM), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, k-NN, logistic regression, and random forest classifier algorithms have been applied in the analysis. The algorithms selected in our study were preferred because they showed superior performance in ML and succeeded in analyzing EEG signals. Selected classification algorithms also have features of being used online. Naïve Bayes, Light Gradient Strengthening Machine (LGBM), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, k-NN, logistic regression, and random forest classifier algorithms were used. In the analysis of EEG signals, Light Gradient Strengthening Machine (LGBM) was obtained as the best method. It was determined that the most successful algorithm in prediction was the prediction of the LGBM classification algorithm, with a success rate of 84%. This study has revealed that hearing tests can also be performed using brain waves detected by an EEG device. Although a completely independent hearing test can be created, an audiologist or doctor may be needed to evaluate the results.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the public neuro-degenerative disorders. Speech/voice disorder is considered one of the symptoms at an early stage. Acoustic and speech signal processing methods can potentially evaluate and measure PD-related vocal impairment. The present work proposed a novel feature selection framework using two levels of the feature selection procedure for voice-loss detection in PD patients. At the first level selection, the principal component analysis (PCA) and the eigenvector centrality feature selection (ECFS) methods are initially calculated independently, and the selected features from each method are considered as a separated sublist, namely ECFS selected features sublist, and PCA selected features sublist, in the first set. Accordingly, the first set, which is the first level selection set, is generated from the union of these two sublists using the top-selected features from both methods. In the training phase, a second level selection, which forms the second set (which is a subset from the first set), is generated to calculate the proposed weight of each selection method. Since in the present work, the ECFS provided superior performance to the PCA in the first level selection, the ECFS is applied to the first set in order to find weight values based on the contribution/impact of the top-selected PCA- and ECFS- features in the second level. This weight is determined by finding a proposed ratio, which is multiplied directly by the selected ECFS features in the first level. The selected weighted ECFS features are then combined with the same PCA features to avoid ignoring any of the top-ranked features from the first level. This combination includes the final weighted-hybrid selected features that fed to a support vector machine (SVM) classifier to evaluate the proposed weighted hybrid selected features. Hence, in the test phase, the generated weight is used directly without any further need for the second level selection. Several comparative studies were conducted to evaluate the proposed feature selection performance for PD voice-loss detection. The experimental results established the superiority of the proposed procedure using cubic kernel-SVM with 94% accuracy for voice-loss detection in PD, while, with the same classifier, 88% accuracy was achieved without using the proposed selection method.

Melanoma is known worldwide as a malignant tumor and the fastest-growing skin cancer type. It is a very life-threatening disease with a high mortality rate. Automatic melanoma detection improves the early detection of the disease and the survival rate. In accordance with this purpose, we presented a multi-task learning approach based on melanoma recognition with dermoscopy images. Firstly, an effective pre-processing approach based on max pooling, contrast, and shape filters is used to eliminate hair details and to perform image enhancement operations. Next, the lesion region was segmented with a VGGNet model-based FCN Layer architecture using enhanced images. Later, a cropping process was performed for the detected lesions. Then, the cropped images were converted to the input size of the classifier model using the very deep super-resolution neural network approach, and the decrease in image resolution was minimized. Finally, a deep learning network approach based on pre-trained convolutional neural networks was developed for melanoma classification. We used the International Skin Imaging Collaboration, a publicly available dermoscopic skin lesion dataset in experimental studies. While the performance measures of accuracy, specificity, precision, and sensitivity, obtained for segmentation of the lesion region, were produced at rates of 96.99%, 92.53%, 97.65%, and 98.41%, respectively, the performance measures achieved rates for classification of 97.73%, 99.83%, 99.83%, and 95.67%, respectively.

Background Otitis media (OM) is the infection and inflammation of the mucous membrane covering the Eustachian with the airy cavities of the middle ear and temporal bone. OM is also one of the most common ailments. In clinical practice, the diagnosis of OM is carried out by visual inspection of otoscope images. This vulnerable process is subjective and error-prone. Methods In this study, a novel computer-aided decision support model based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) has been developed. To improve the generalized ability of the proposed model, a combination of the channel and spatial model (CBAM), residual blocks, and hypercolumn technique is embedded into the proposed model. All experiments were performed on an open-access tympanic membrane dataset that consists of 956 otoscopes images collected into five classes. Results The proposed model yielded satisfactory classification achievement. The model ensured an overall accuracy of 98.26%, sensitivity of 97.68%, and specificity of 99.30%. The proposed model produced rather superior results compared to the pre-trained CNNs such as AlexNet, VGG-Nets, GoogLeNet, and ResNets. Consequently, this study points out that the CNN model equipped with the advanced image processing techniques is useful for OM diagnosis. The proposed model may help to field specialists in achieving objective and repeatable results, decreasing misdiagnosis rate, and supporting the decision-making processes.

There are three eves and different beliefs about ancestor souls on these days in Kyrgyz society. In Ramadan which believed in as month salvation from sins, there is a tradition “Caramazan”. Night recognized and celebrated as "Kandil night" is only “Kadir night". Because of the beliefs in ancestor's souls, Ramadan feast is called “feast of deads”; also Kurban feast is called “feast of alives” in terms of social character

In the recent years, many research works have been published using speech related features for speech emotion recognition, however, recent studies show that there is a strong correlation between emotional states and glottal features. In this work, Mel-frequency cepstralcoefficients (MFCCs), linear predictive cepstral coefficients (LPCCs), perceptual linear predictive (PLP) features, gammatone filter outputs, timbral texture features, stationary wavelet transform based timbral texture features and relative wavelet packet energy and entropy features were extracted from the emotional speech (ES) signals and its glottal waveforms(GW). Particle swarm optimization based clustering (PSOC) and wrapper based particle swarm optimization (WPSO) were proposed to enhance the discerning ability of the features and to select the discriminating features respectively. Three different emotional speech databases were utilized to gauge the proposed method. Extreme learning machine (ELM) was employed to classify the different types of emotions. Different experiments were conducted and the results show that the proposed method significantly improves the speech emotion recognition performance compared to previous works published in the literature.
