Stoponium, a bound state of top squark and its antiparticle in a supersymmetric model, may be found in the ongoing Higgs searches at the LHC. Its WW and ZZ detection ratios relative to the Standard Model Higgs boson can be more than unity from WW* threshold to the two Higgs threshold. The gamma gamma channel is equally promising. Some regions of the stoponium mass below 150 GeV are already being probed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments., Comment: 10 pages 5 figures

We describe a characteristic signature of dark matter (DM) annihilation or decay into gamma-rays. We show that if the total angular momentum of the initial DM particle(s) vanishes, and helicity suppression operates to prevent annihilation/decay into light fermion pairs, then the amplitude for the dominant 3-body final state f^+f^-\gamma has a unique form dictated by gauge invariance. This amplitude and the corresponding energy spectra hold for annihilation of DM Majorana fermions or self-conjugate scalars, and for decay of DM scalars, thus encompassing a variety of possibilities. Within this scenario, we analyze Fermi LAT, PAMELA and HESS data, and predict a hint in future Fermi gamma-ray data that portends a striking signal at atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (ACTs)., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures. We analyze new diffuse gamma-ray data from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, which do not confirm an excess in the EGRET data at galactic mid-latitudes, in combination with measurements of electron and positron fuxes from PAMELA, Fermi and HESS within the context of three possible sources: dark matter (DM) annihilation or decay into charged leptons, and a continuum distribution of pulsars. We allow for variations in the backgrounds, consider several DM halo profiles, and account for systematic uncertainties in data where possible. We find that all three scenarios represent the data well. The pulsar description holds for a wide range of injection energy spectra. We compare with ATIC data and the WMAP haze where appropriate, but do not fit these data since the former are discrepant with Fermi data and the latter are subject to large systematic uncertainties. We show that for cusped halo profiles, Fermi could observe a spectacular gamma-ray signal of DM annihilation from the galactic center while seeing no excess at mid-latitudes., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures. Assuming that the positron excess in PAMELA satellite data is a consequence of annihilations of cold dark matter, we consider from a model-independent perspective if the data show a preference for the spin of dark matter. We then perform a general analysis of annihilations into two-body final states to determine what weighted combination of channels best describes the data., Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures, 3 tables. High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
New limits on couplings $\lambda^i_{jk}{''}$, which break both the baryon number and the $R$--parity, are derived by using a new mechanism that contributes to the neutron-anti-neutron oscillation. The constraints due to proton decay and its potential phenomenology are also reexamined., Comment: 8 TeX pages and 5 pages of figures in postscript format. High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We analyze the production of triple pseudoscalar Higgs bosons in the decay channel of $Z\rightarrow AAA$ for light pseudoscalar bosons when the corresponding scalar boson is too heavy to be produced by $Z$ decay. Analytic results are obtained both at the tree level and at the one--loop level. The branching fraction can be as large as $10^{-5}$ which should be detectable at LEP., Comment: 9 TeX pages and one page of Fig. 2 in postscript format. High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
If sneutrinos are the lightest supersymmetry partners and $R$-parity is not conserved, the process $e^+e^- \to \tilde {\bar\nu} \tilde {\nu}$ can have striking signatures due to the decay modes $\tilde{\nu}\to\ell^+\ell'^-$ or $\tilde{\nu}\to q \bar q'$. We present cross section formulas and discuss event rates and detection at the upgraded $e^+e^-$ collider LEP. Four-lepton signals should be detectable up to sneutrino mass $\tilde {m}_\nu = 80$ GeV and maybe beyond; four-jet signals should be detectable up to $\tilde {m}_\nu = 70$ GeV, but would probably be obscured thereafter by $WW$ background., Comment: standard Latex, 9 pages, 2 uufiled postscript figures included via figures command. High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
If $R$-parity is not conserved, the SUSY-threshold production process $e^+e^- \to \chi_1^0\chi_1^0$ could be detectable with relatively low luminosity. Hence an interesting mass range for the lightest SUSY particle $\chi_1^0$ could be explored at the CERN LEP collider during its intermediate energy development, even before the full LEP200 upgrade is completed. We present cross section formulas and discuss event rates and detection for the three distinct decay options: $\chi_1^0\to 2\, {\rm charged \; leptons}\, +\, {\rm neutrino}$, $\chi_1^0\to {\rm lepton}\, +2\, {\rm quarks}$, and $\chi_1^0\to 3\, {\rm quarks}$., Comment: Latex, 9 pages, 5 uufiled postscript figures included. High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We present a simple model in which CP symmetry is spontaneously broken only after the radiative corrections are taken into account. The model includes two Higgs-boson doublets and two right-handed singlet neutrinos which induce the necessary non-hermitian interaction. To evade the Georgi-Pais theorem, some fine-tuning of coupling constants is necessary. However, we show that such fine-tuning is natural in the technical sense as it is protected by symmetry. Some phenomenological consequences are also discussed., Comment: 10 pages, ANL-HEP-PR-94-65

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
The asymmetries ${\cal A}_k \equiv [\Gamma(\twddec) -\Gamma(\tbwddec)] /[\Gamma(\twddec) + \Gamma(\tbwddec)]$ in the partial widths of the top quark decays are discussed within the Standard Model (SM), the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) and supersymmetric extensions of the SM (SSM). The leading contributions to these asymmetries in the SM and in the 2HDM are induced by the up-type quark self-energy diagrams and are found to be very small. However, in the SSM, the asymmetry ${\cal A}_b$ can be substantial, ${\cal O}(\alpha_{QCD})$, provided the CP-violating phase of gluino-top-stop couplings is not suppressed. Within the SSM ${\cal A}_b$ is generated by the vertex corrections., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures (not included, postscript files available when requested). CERN-TH.6941/93,UICHEP-TH/93-15

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
The two--loop mechanism of Bjorken and Weinberg is used to constrain flavor changing neutral Higgs bosons. We calculate the complete set of two--loop diagrams for the rare decay $\mu \rightarrow e + \gamma$ induced by such neutral Higgs bosons, for arbitrary Higgs and top masses. The analytic result is used to set limits on Higgs masses for some recent models with specific ansatz about the flavor changing couplings. For example, in the Cheng--Sher scenario of multi-Higgs doublet models, all neutral Higgs bosons possess flavor changing ($f_i \leftrightarrow f_j)$ couplings proportional to $\sqrt{m_i m_j}$. We find that the present limit on $\mu\to e\gamma$ implies that, in such scheme, these neutral Higgs bosons should be heavier than $200$ GeV., Comment: 21 pages, 5 graphs not included, CERN--TH.6795/93

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We investigate a potentially large CP violating asymmetry in the neutral Higgs boson decay into a heavy quark pair or a $W^+$--$W^-$ pair. The source of the CP nonconservation is in the Yukawa couplings of the Higgs boson which can contain both scalar and pseudoscalar pieces. One of the interesting consequence is the different rates of the Higgs boson decays into CP conjugate polarized states. The required final state interactions can be either the strong or the electroweak interactions. The CP violating asymmetry can manifests itself in the asymmetry in the energies of the secondary decay products of these heavy quarks and $W$ bosons. Such asymmetry can be measureable in the future colliders such as SSC or LHC., Comment: 14 pages, 6 postscript figures, extended version of preprint FERMILAB-PUB-92/172-T

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
In this paper we study the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) due to Higgs boson exchange in Left-Right symmetric models. In pseudo-manifest Left-Right symmetric models, the neutral Higgs contribution is smaller than that from the charged Higgs. The charged Higgs contribution at the two loop level can be as large as the experimental upper bound. In non (pseudo) manifest Left-Right symmteric models, the neutral Higgs exchange contribution can reach the experimental upper bound. The Higgs exchange contributions can be more important than the ones from W-boson exchange due to $W_L - W_R$ mixing., Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures not included, available upon request, UM-P-92/49

Sick sinus syndrome (SSS) encompasses a group of disorders whereby the heart is unable to perform its pacemaker function, due to genetic and acquired causes. Tachycardia‑bradycardia syndrome (TBS) is a complication of SSS characterized by alternating tachycardia and bradycardia. Techniques such as genetic screening and molecular diagnostics together with the use of pre-clinical models have elucidated the electrophysiological mechanisms of this condition. Dysfunction of ion channels responsible for initiation or conduction of cardiac action potentials may underlie both bradycardia and tachycardia; bradycardia can also increase the risk of tachycardia, and vice versa. The mainstay treatment option for SSS is pacemaker implantation, an effective approach, but has disadvantages such as infection, limited battery life, dislodgement of leads and catheters to be permanently implanted in situ. Alternatives to electronic pacemakers are gene‑based bio‑artificial sinoatrial node and cell‑based bio‑artificial pacemakers, which are promising techniques whose long-term safety and efficacy need to be established. The aim of this article is to review the different ion channels involved in TBS, examine the three‑way relationship between ion channel dysfunction, tachycardia and bradycardia in TBS and to consider its current and future therapies.

- Abstract
We revisit the calculation of the relic density of dark matter particles co-annihilating with a top or bottom partner by properly including the QCD bound-states (onia) effects of the colored partners as well as the relevant electroweak processes, which become important in the low-mass region. We carefully set up the complete framework that incorporates the relevant contributions and investigate their effects on the cosmologically preferred mass spectrum, which turn out to be comparable in size to those coming from the Sommerfeld enhancement. We apply the calculation to three scenarios: bino-stop and bino-sbottom co-annihilations in supersymmetry and a vector dark matter co-annihilating with a fermionic top partner. In addition, we confront our analysis of the relic abundance with recent direct detection experiments and collider searches at the LHC, which have important implications in the bino-stop and bino-sbottom scenarios. In particular, in the bino-stop case, recent LHC limits have excluded regions of parameter space with a direct detection rate that is above the neutrino floor.

Background: Obesity is a worldwide problem. Healthy workplace and lifestyle are crucial in preventing obesity. A workplace weight management program could create a culture of health and facilitate weight control among health care providers. The present study aims to describe and evaluate the health outcomes of the interaction of professional practice and organizational infrastructure. Method: The hospital-based weight management program was an eight-week pilot randomized controlled study for obese health care providers. The primary outcomes were body weight and body mass index. The secondary outcomes included serum fasting glucose, fasting cholesterol, triglyceride, high- and low-density lipoprotein, body fat percentage, body mass, and quality of life. The RE-AIM framework was used to examine the intervention's reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation and maintenance at individual and organizational levels. Results: The program successfully attained the target population. Health care providers demonstrated short-term weight loss and decreased serum fasting cholesterol level after completing the program. The excellent retention rate (95%) of the study suggested that the participants were well-engaged in self-weight management. The program was implemented with adequate resource and support from the health organization. The organization may consider continuing the program in view of its long-term benefits to health care providers. Conclusion: Supportive organizational structure and culture enhanced professional practice and improved the health outcomes of the hospital-based weight management program participants. A search for a narrow Higgs boson resonance in the diphoton mass spectrum is presented based on data corresponding to 10fb -1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF experiment from proton-antiproton collisions at s=1.96TeV. To increase the sensitivity of the search, we employ a multivariate discriminant technique for the first time in this channel at CDF. No evidence of signal is observed, and upper limits are set on the cross section times branching ratio of the resonant state as a function of the Higgs boson mass. The limits are interpreted in the context of the standard model with an expected (observed) limit on the cross section times branching ratio of 9.9 (17.0) times the standard model prediction at the 95% credibility level for a Higgs boson mass of 125GeV/c 2. Moreover, a Higgs boson with suppressed couplings to fermions is excluded for masses below 114GeV/c 2 at the 95% credibility level. © 2012 Elsevier B.V.

We report a measurement of the bottom-strange meson mixing phase βs using the time evolution of Bs0→J/ψ(→μ+μ-)ϕ(→K+K-) decays in which the quark-flavor content of the bottom-strange meson is identified at production. This measurement uses the full data set of proton-antiproton collisions at s=1.96 TeV collected by the Collider Detector experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, corresponding to 9.6 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. We report confidence regions in the two-dimensional space of βs and the Bs0 decay-width difference ΔΓs and measure βs∈[-π/2,-1.51]∪[-0.06,0.30]∪[1.26,π/2] at the 68% confidence level, in agreement with the standard model expectation. Assuming the standard model value of βs, we also determine ΔΓs=0.068±0.026(stat)±0.009(syst) ps-1 and the mean Bs0 lifetime τs=1.528±0.019(stat)±0.009(syst) ps, which are consistent and competitive with determinations by other experiments., This work was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and National Science Foundation; the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare; the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan; the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; the National Science Council of the Republic of China; the Swiss National Science Foundation; the A. The scenario of light gluinos of mass 12-16 GeV and light sbottoms of mass $2-5.5$ GeV was advocated to explain the discrepancy between the measured and theoretical production of $b$ quarks at the Tevatron. This scenario will have model-independent predictions for $Z\to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g}$ at the $Z^0$-pole, and $e^+ e^- \to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g}$ at LEPII. We show that the data for $Z\to q \bar q g^* \to q\bar q b \bar b$ at LEPI cannot constrain the scenario, because the ratio $\Gamma(Z \to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g})/ \Gamma(Z \to q \bar q g^* \to q\bar q b \bar b) = 0.15 - 0.04$ for $m_{\tilde{g}}= 12-16$ GeV is smaller than the uncertainty of the data. However, at LEPII the ratio $\sigma(e^+ e^- \to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g})/ \sigma(e^+ e^- \to q \bar q g^* \to q\bar q b \bar b) \simeq 0.4 - 0.2$ for $m_{\tilde{g}}= 12-16$ GeV, which may give an observable excess in $q\bar q b\bar b$ events; especially, the $4b$ events.

As molecules on the surface or associated with the outer covering (tegument) of Schistosoma mansoni are a major focus as potential vaccine candidates, affinity purified antibodies which are specific to the tegumental antigens were used to immunoscreen a λgt11 S. mansoni cercarial cDNA library. One of the identified clones was found to encode the glycolytic enzyme phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK, EC 2.7.2.3). The 1.5-kb cDNA clone has a single open reading frame encoding 416 amino acids and exhibits over 60% identity to PGKs from a number of eukaryotic species. Recombinant S. mansoni PGK (SmPGK) was overexpressed in Escherichia coli , purified, and shown to have PGK enzyme activity. Native protein affinity purified from S. mansoni adult worms was shown by microsequencing to have the same amino-acid sequence as deduced from the cDNA sequence, thus confirming the cDNA clone we identified encodes S. mansoni phosphoglycerate kinase. Antibodies localize the native SmPGK to various tissues including the tegument of 3-h schistosomula and 42-day adult worms.

The two--loop mechanism of Bjorken and Weinberg is used to constrain flavor changing neutral Higgs bosons. We calculate the complete set of two--loop diagrams for the rare decay $\rightarrow e + $ induced by such neutral Higgs bosons, for arbitrary Higgs and top masses. We find that the present limit on $\to e$ implies that, in such scheme, these neutral Higgs bosons should be heavier than $200$ GeV., 21 pages, 5 graphs not included, CERN--TH.6795/93
