Student performance modelling is one of the challenging and popular research topics in educational data mining (EDM). Multiple factors influence the performance in non-linear ways; thus making this field more attractive to the researchers. The widespread availability of educational datasets further catalyse this interestingness, especially in online learning. Although several EDM surveys are available in the literature, we could find only a few specific surveys on student performance analysis and prediction. These specific surveys are limited in nature and primarily focus on studies that try to identify possible predictor or model student performance. However, the previous works do not address the temporal aspect of prediction. Moreover, we could not find any such specific survey which focuses only on classroom-based education. In this paper, we present a systematic review of EDM studies on student performance in classroom learning. It focuses on identifying the predictors, methods used for such identification, time and aim of prediction. It is significantly the first systematic survey of EDM studies that consider only classroom learning and focuses on the temporal aspect as well. This paper presents a review of 140 studies in this area. The meta-analysis indicates that the researchers achieve significant prediction efficiency during the tenure of the course. However, performance prediction before course commencement needs special attention.

Analysing the behaviour of student performance in classroom education is an active area in educational research. Early prediction of student performance may be helpful for both teacher and the student. However, the influencing factors of the student performance need to be identified first to build up such early prediction model. The existing data mining literature on student performance primarily focuses on student-related factors, though it may be influenced by many external factors also. Superior teaching acts as a catalyst which improves the knowledge dissemination process from teacher to the student. It also motivates the student to put more effort on the study. However, the research question, how the performance or grade correlates with teaching, is still relevant in present days. In this work, we propose a quantifiable measure of improvement with respect to the expected performance of a student. Furthermore, this study analyses the impact of teaching on performance improvement in theoretical courses of classroom-based education. It explores nearly 0.2 million academic records collected from an online system of an academic institute of national importance in India. The association mining approach has been adopted here and the result shows that confidence of both non-negative and positive improvements increase with superior teaching. This result indeed establishes the fact that teaching has a positive impact on student performance. To be more specific, the growing confidence of non-negative and positive improvements indicate that superior teaching facilitates more students to obtain either expected or better than expected grade.

The article presents a study on the meat quality and slaughter weight of Ghungroo (GR) pigs. The researchers observed 18 GR pigs, which were raised under an intensive management system and provided with similar feeding, housing and managemental care. They divided the GR pigs into three groups with six pigs each in order to study the proximate composition of primal port cuts and the effect of slaughter weight on meat quality parameters. They found that the cooking loss percentage significantly dropped as the slaughter weight increased.

The article presents a study on the effect of storage period on the acceptability and quality of meat balls from desi duck meat. The researchers purchased Indian desi ducks from a local market in India, after which the dressing and slaughter of the ducks were performed at the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences Department of Livestock Products Technology Poultry Processing Unit in Kolkata, India. They found that the duck meat balls' quality was acceptable up to seven days at refrigeration temperature.

Ghungroo (GR) is a native pig breed which is mainly reared by the tribes of Duars' Valley and allied zone. To assess the breed's performance more comprehensively, a research work had been planned to evaluate the effect of slaughter weight on slaughter performance by dividing 18 GR pigs in three groups (viz. 40-50 Kg, 50- 60 Kg and 60-70 Kg) having six animals in each group. Hot Carcass Weight, Dressing Percentage, Chilled Carcass Weight, Loin Eye Area, Back Fat Thickness, Carcass Length, shoulder weight, ham weight and loin weight increased significantly(P<0.01) while shoulder percentage, ham percentage, loin percentage and head percentage decreased significantly (P<0.01) with the increase in slaughter weight.
