Abstract

A quasi-Toeplitz $M$-matrix $A$ is an infinite $M$-matrix that can be written as the sum of a semi-infinite Toeplitz matrix and a correction matrix. This paper is concerned with computing the square root of invertible quasi-Toeplitz $M$-matrices which preserves the quasi-Toeplitz structure. We show that the Toeplitz part of the square root can be easily computed through evaluation/interpolation at the $m$ roots of unity. This advantage allows to propose algorithms solely for the computation of correction part, whence we propose a fixed-point iteration and a structure-preserving doubling algorithm. Additionally, we show that the correction part can be approximated by solving a nonlinear matrix equation with coefficients of finite size followed by extending the solution to infinity. Numerical experiments showing the efficiency of the proposed algorithms are performed.

Abstract

Environment‐benign ZnSeTe quantum dots (QDs) are regarded promising blue electroluminescent (EL) emitters alternative to Cd‐based ones for the next‐generation QD‐display platform. Herein, the core/shell heterostructural variation of blue‐emitting ternary ZnSeTe QDs by manipulating ZnSeTe core size (small versus large) and ZnSe inner shell thickness (thin versus thick), while ZnS outer shell thickness remains unaltered, is explored. EL outcomes of the resulting core/shell QDs having photoluminescence quantum yields of 59−80% within the blue color regime (454−463 nm) are found to be dependent on their heterostructural dimension, exhibiting the highest performances of 31709 cd m−2 in luminance and 11.4% in external quantum efficiency (EQE) from large‐ZnSeTe/thick‐ZnSe/ZnS QDs. Furthermore, to address the chronic issues of excessive electron injection and exciton quenching at emitting layer/electron transport layer (ETL) interface, the surface of ZnMgO (ZMO) nanoparticle (NP) is modified by bicarbonate functional species. Bicarbonate passivation not only leads to the effective reduction of defective sites on the ZMO NP surface toward the suppression of exciton quenching but induces the upshift of ETL band alignment in favor of charge balance. As a result, the optimized blue device incorporated with bicarbonate‐functionalized ZMO NPs delivers a peak luminance of 39739 cd m−2 and a maximum EQE of 17.1%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of sponsorship on the sponsor's financial performance. This study investigates return on sponsorship (ROS) with a quantitative analysis. Nexen Tire's title sponsorship agreement with the Heroes baseball club in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) in 2010 is studied. The positive effect of sponsorship on the sponsor's Tobin's q is confirmed by comparing the non-sponsorship period (2000-2009) with the sponsorship period (2010-2018). It is also shown from an event study that the sponsor experiences negative abnormal stock returns on the news of the sponsorship agreement, though this was not found to be statistically significant. Still, when the sponsee enters the postseason, positive cumulative abnormal returns are observed, particularly significant 10 days before the postseason games. This study confirms the positive influence of sponsorship on the sponsor's financial performance and, with evidence from South Korea, provides insight into Asian markets in need of research. The results suggest that 10 days before a postseason game would be an ideal time to leverage marketing and activate a sponsorship strategy. Abstract

We propose a novel model which extends the Standard Model (SM) by introducing a $SU(2)_D$ gauge symmetry. In this model, a dark $SU(2)_D$ Higgs doublet and a Higgs bi-doublet can contribute to the muon g-2 anomaly and the $W$ boson mass, remaining in tune with the recent experimental results. At the same time, the isospin charged gauge boson of $SU(2)_D$ becomes a plausible candidate for Dark Matter(DM). We find that the resulting parameter space can fit the muon g-2, the W boson mass and the DM constraints simultaneously.

Abstract

The Nrf1 (Nuclear factor E2-related factor 1) transcription factor performs a critical role in regulating cellular homeostasis. Using a proteomic approach, we identified Host Cell Factor-1 (HCF1), a co-regulator of transcription, and O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT), the enzyme that mediates protein O-GlcNAcylation, as cellular partners of Nrf1a, an isoform of Nrf1. Nrf1a directly interacts with HCF1 through the HCF1 binding motif (HBM), while interaction with OGT is mediated through HCF1. Overexpression of HCF1 and OGT leads to increased Nrf1a protein stability. Addition of O-GlcNAc decreases ubiquitination and degradation of Nrf1a. Transcriptional activation by Nrf1a is increased by OGT overexpression and treatment with PUGNAc. Together, these data suggest that OGT can act as a regulator of Nrf1a.

Abstract

Plasmonic nanoparticles serve as nonfading pigments for vibrant outdoor glasses and smart windows, offering vivid colors under sunlight with exceptional spatial resolution. However, simultaneously achieving the desired plasmonic coloration in both reflection and transmission with a full‐color gamut remains a formidable challenge, especially when using a single fabrication method. Here, a facile physical triple co‐deposition method to construct scalable plasmonic superstructures, optimal for dichroic color engineering is demonstrated. A key feature of such all‐in‐one plasmonic superstructures lies in extensive color performance in transmission and reflection modes, spanning from transparent invisibility to vivid full colors across the wavelength range of over 600 nm. This exceptional coloration fidelity stems from their 3D‐stacked nanocomposite where plasmonic nanoparticles incorporate a random but uniform distribution within a glass matrix. Wafer‐scale rich and dynamic color images useful for colorful data storage and steganography, as demonstrated through layer‐by‐layer color painting with combinatorial plasmonic superstructures are shown. Abstract

Nrf1 (also referred to as NFE2L1) is a member of the CNC-bZIP family of transcription factors that are characterized by a highly conserved CNC-domain, and a basic-leucine zipper domain required for dimerization and DNA binding. Nrf1 is ubiquitously expressed across tissue and cell types as various isoforms, and is induced by stress signals from a broad spectrum of stimuli. Evidence indicates that Nrf1 plays an important role in regulating a range of cellular functions including oxidative stress response, differentiation, inflammatory response, metabolism, and maintaining proteostasis. Thus, Nrf1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various disease processes including cancer development, and degenerative and metabolic disorders. This review summarizes our current understanding of Nrf1 and the molecular mechanism underlying its regulation and action in different cellular functions.

Abstract

Histone demethylases, enzymes responsible for removing methyl groups from histone proteins, have emerged as critical players in regulating gene expression and chromatin dynamics, thereby influencing various cellular processes. LSD2 and LSD1 have attracted considerable interest among these demethylases because of their associations with cancer. However, while LSD1 has received significant attention, LSD2 has not been recognized to the same extent. In this study, we conduct a comprehensive comparison between LSD2 and LSD1, with a focus on exploring LSD2's implications. While both share structural similarities, LSD2 possesses unique features as well. Functionally, LSD2 shows diverse roles, particularly in cancer, with tissue-dependent roles. Additionally, LSD2 extends beyond histone demethylation, impacting DNA methylation, cancer cell reprogramming, E3 ubiquitin ligase activity and DNA damage repair pathways. This study underscores the distinct roles of LSD2, providing insights into their contributions to cancer and other cellular processes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
