Following the keen interests in citizenship education across the fields of education, this study delves into the ways in which we conceptualize good citizenship. To do so, I focus on two theoretical concepts (i.e., "imaginary" and "cultural mythology") and the provincial level of education policy(ies) and the K-12 curriculum contexts in Canada. Based on my theoretical ground and critical discourse analysis of the un/official documents for Alberta education, I indicate diversity as one crucial element of a cultural mythology: it, as a sign in a second-order semiological system, serves to disseminate a monolithic and depoliticized vision of good citizenship based within a particular imaginary of the idealized Canada. This study thus elucidates not only our inherited cultural biases about the popular meanings of good citizenship, but also their invisible onto-epistemological presuppositions perpetuating the unchanged institutionalized structures of privilege and their exploitations of poor and minority peoples (e.g., elimination of Indigenous peoples and their land sovereignty). Hence, this study offers critical insights to address unequal relations of power in our prevalent notion(s) of citizenship we as educators presume to teach. This work, by doing so, follows the decolonial imperative to rupture the social inequality and discrimination we all strive to resist.

Quinolines and quinoline-containing macromolecules are renowned for their valuable biological activities and excellent materials properties. Herein, we validate a general strategy for the synthesis of chloro-containing quinoline, benzoquinoline and polybenzoquinoline variants via the aza-Diels-Alder reaction. The described findings could be ultimately implemented in other synthetic pathways and may open new opportunities for analogous quinoline-derived materials.

Many educational studies reference ideology, imaginary, and myth constructs represented in programs of study, textbooks, and school rituals. In the fields of history, civic, and social studies education, for example, many scholars frequently employ these terms to examine mythic groundings of particular nationalisms entwined with the ways in which we perceive history and citizenship education. However, the lack of philosophical clarity about these concepts raises some crucial questions: in what ways should we distinguish these often overlapping key terms? How might they be put into relation for the purposes of researching such and engaging these terms pedagogically? To respond to these questions, I seek to outline the characteristics of and entwined relationships among ideology, subject, imaginary, and myth by engaging key influential scholarly and historical works. With the considerations of these characteristics and relationship, I attempt to add more precision to the conceptual bases crucial to elucidate unequal relations of power in curricula and schooling practices addressed across many fields constituting educational studies. In doing so, I hope that this groundwork provides curriculum scholars and teachers with meaningful ways to deliberate and employ these key concepts in the contexts of educational research and everyday schooling practices.

Digital forensics aims to uncover evidence of cybercrimes within compromised systems. These cybercrimes are often perpetrated through the deployment of malware, which inevitably leaves discernible traces within the compromised systems. Forensic analysts are tasked with extracting and subsequently analyzing data, termed as artifacts, from these systems to gather evidence. Therefore, forensic analysts must sift through extensive datasets to isolate pertinent evidence. However, manually identifying suspicious traces among numerous artifacts is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Previous studies addressed such inefficiencies by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into digital forensics. Despite the efforts in previous studies, artifacts were analyzed without considering the nature of the data within them and failed to prove their efficiency through specific evaluations. In this study, we propose a system to prioritize suspicious artifacts from compromised systems infected with malware to facilitate efficient digital forensics. Our system introduces a double-checking method that recognizes the nature of data within target artifacts and employs algorithms ideal for anomaly detection. The key ideas of this method are: (1) prioritize suspicious artifacts and filter remaining artifacts using autoencoder and (2) further prioritize suspicious artifacts and filter remaining artifacts using logarithmic entropy. Our evaluation demonstrates that our system can identify malicious artifacts with high accuracy and that its double-checking method is more efficient than alternative approaches. Metallic and dielectric nanoscatterers are optical pigments that offer rich resonating coloration in the subwavelength regime with prolonged material consistency. Recent advances in responsive materials, whose mechanical shapes and optical properties can change in response to stimuli, expand the scope of scattering-based colorations from static to active. Thus, active color-changing pixels are achieved with extremely high spatial resolution, in conjunction with various responsive polymers and phase-change materials. This review discusses recent progress in developing such responsive photonic nanopixels, ranging from electrochromic to other color-changing concepts. We describe what parameters permit modulation of the scattering colors and highlight superior functional devices. Potential fields of application focusing on imaging devices, including active full-color printing and flexible displays, information encryption, anticounterfeiting, and active holograms, are also discussed.

This study examines the relationship between religion and education in South Korea by investigating how religiously affiliated private educational institutions integrate their institutional missions into educational frameworks. Building upon our previous analysis of Dongguk University as a Buddhist-affiliated institution, we focus on Yonsei University, an institution affiliated with Protestant Christian denominations. By analyzing Yonsei University and comparing it to Dongguk University, we illustrate the distinctive approaches these institutions use to manifest their institutional missions. Here, the distinct religious natures in these institutions serve as a critical lens, spotlighting the vital roles of institutional missions in shaping educational goals, aspirations, and curricula. Our in-depth analysis elicits one critical point: it is imperative to recognize that the very essence of how Yonsei and Dongguk Universities articulate their institutional missions is predicated fundamentally on their general education curricula. With this point, this study illuminates the characteristics of religiously affiliated private educational institutions that underscore the crucial functions of institutional missions. These characteristics elucidate both the distinctive aspects of religiously affiliated institutions and the multifaceted functions of institutional missions within broader educational contexts, thereby offering critical insights into the crucial roles of religion and their future implications for education in South Korea. Plasmonic nanoparticles serve as nonfading pigments for vibrant outdoor glasses and smart windows, offering vivid colors under sunlight with exceptional spatial resolution. However, simultaneously achieving the desired plasmonic coloration in both reflection and transmission with a full‐color gamut remains a formidable challenge, especially when using a single fabrication method. Here, a facile physical triple co‐deposition method to construct scalable plasmonic superstructures, optimal for dichroic color engineering is demonstrated. A key feature of such all‐in‐one plasmonic superstructures lies in extensive color performance in transmission and reflection modes, spanning from transparent invisibility to vivid full colors across the wavelength range of over 600 nm. This exceptional coloration fidelity stems from their 3D‐stacked nanocomposite where plasmonic nanoparticles incorporate a random but uniform distribution within a glass matrix. Wafer‐scale rich and dynamic color images useful for colorful data storage and steganography, as demonstrated through layer‐by‐layer color painting with combinatorial plasmonic superstructures are shown. Ultrasound-induced optical clearing microscopy (US-OCM) addresses limited imaging depth in optical microscopy, caused by light scattering in biological tissues. It uses ultrasound-induced gas bubbles to better image biological samples. However, controlling the bubble location using only ultrasound is challenging. This study introduces a novel method, "optrasound," combining optical and ultrasound energies for precise bubble control. It presents the ultrasound field and uses a focused laser to trigger bubble formation. Optrasound-induced deep microscopy improves light beam width by 3.39 times at a depth of 350 µm because the gas bubbles reduce light scattering. This technique can precisely localize a bubble cloud while matching the US-OCM performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

3D‐shaped artificial Mg nano‐rotamers with a programmable dihedral angle between two plasmonic arms, designed to exhibit both programmable linear and circular polarization properties, are presented. The nanoscale physical shadow growth technique offers precise control over the angular alignment in these nanostructures with 1° angular precision, thus controlling their symmetry from achiral C2v and C2h to chiral C2. As a result, they give rise to a wide range of polarization‐resolved coloration, spanning from invisible to visible colors with 46% transmission contrast for linear polarization while exhibiting 0.08 g‐factor in visible for circular polarization. These nano‐rotamers hold great potential for various applications in adaptive photonic filters, memory, and anticounterfeiting devices, benefiting from their tunable plasmonic properties.
