In today’s world, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many lives and forced the people to take safety precautions like never before. Therefore, designing an environmentally friendly theatre minimizing germ propagation using filtration mechanisms is a valuable project, as it would help struggling businesses, and give people a chance to enjoy a day outside, safely. With safety being the highest priority, the incorporation filtration systems and contactless food delivery networks is essential while providing a fun and lasting memory for the visiting audience. However, to meet the previously listed goals, solutions to major obstacles are necessary. This includes designing a robot with consistent movements while simultaneously avoiding its surrounding obstacles, building an energy environment friendly cooling system, and creating a filtration mechanism to filter the COVID-19 particles. With these overall designs incorporated into the traditional movie theatre, the team presents the “COVID-less Movie Theatre”.

Physics - Accelerator Physics - Abstract
PAL-XFEL (Pohang Accelerator Laboratory X-ray Free Electron Laser) started RF conditioning in October 2015 and has been operating reliably for ~ 4 years. The machine's LLRF and SSA systems contributed to the stable operation of PAL-XFEL with over 99% availability. The LLRF and SSA systems showed some problems in rare cases. The delay caused by the problem is very small, but PAL-XFEL can stop working. Some issues have been identified and resolved. We want to share the experience., Comment: Poster presented at LLRF Workshop 2019 (LLRF2019, arXiv:1909.06754)

- Abstract
Aim: Studies on immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-related potential neurological adverse events (pNAEs) in Korean lung cancer (LC) patients are scarce. We aimed to examine ICI prescription trends from 2018 to 2022, patient characteristics and factors associated with ICI prescription or concurrent pNAEs in LC. Research design & methods: This observational, cross-sectional study of Korean LC patients investigated four ICIs (pembrolizumab, nivolumab, atezolizumab and durvalumab). The annual ICI prescription rate was calculated by dividing the number of LC patients prescribed ICIs with the total annual number of LC patients. Factors associated with ICI prescriptions or concurrent pNAEs were assessed. Results: The annual ICI prescription rate increased from 3.29% to 9.74% (average: 6.20%). Higher Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) scores were associated with more ICI prescriptions (odds ratio [OR], 1.08; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.07–1.08). Targeted therapy was associated with fewer prescriptions (OR: 0.45; 95% CI: 0.41–0.49). The anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (anti-PD-1) prescription rate was higher in patients with concurrent pNAEs than those without pNAEs (53.09% vs. 50.84%), and this was associated with higher pNAEs prevalence (OR: 1.10; 95% CI: 1.03–1.18). Conclusion: ICI prescription for LC has increased in Korea, CCI and anti-PD-1 increased pNAEs prevalence. Article highlights The prescription rate of ICIs steadily increased from 3.29% to 9.74% among Korean lung cancer patients between 2018 and 2022. Atezolizumab (37.08%) and pembrolizumab (36.96%) were among the most frequently prescribed ICIs between 2018 and 2022. Among those prescribed ICIs, 80% were male and 70% were in their 60s and 70s. The prescription rate of ICIs was higher in patients with higher comorbidity scores, coexisting brain cancer, or a history of lung cancer-related surgery. A Higher CCI, surgery rate, metastatic cancer, diabetes mellitus with multiple complications, rheumatic disease, paraplegia, chemotherapy and anti-PD-1 use are associated with the prevalence of concurrent pNAEs. While brain cancer may affect the prescription of ICIs in patients with LC, it may not influence the prevalence of concurrent pNAEs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Cancer cachexia is associated with various metabolic mechanisms such as inflammatory response, insulin resistance, and increased muscle proteolysis. However, effective treatment methods have not yet been standardized. Chrysanthemum indicum L. (CI) is a perennial plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, and its flowers have been used for the treatment of headaches, colds, and rhinitis in Asia. Methods: This study investigated the effect of CI on cancer cachexia. We subcutaneously injected CT26 colon cancer cells (5 × 10
5 cells/mouse) into the right flank of BALB/c mice. After 1 week, the mice were orally administered vehicle, CI (100 mg/kg), or Celecoxib (50 mg/kg) for 3 weeks. Results: CI improved loss of body weight and impaired glucose tolerance, but celecoxib did not recover the body weight and glucose intolerance. CI not only improved the decreased myofiber diameters but also inhibited muscle protein degradation factors, MAFbx and MuRF1. CI also increased cellular membrane GLUT4 in CT26 conditioned medium-treated C2C12 myofibers and cancer cachexia-induced mice. Furthermore, we found that linarin, a constituent of CI, was responsible for the improvement of muscle atrophy. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that CI can ameliorate muscle atrophy by improving glucose uptake, suggesting that CI could be a therapeutic agent for cancer cachexia. - Abstract
This study aimed to (1) evaluate the effects of an empathy education program, and (2) explore functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as a potential empathy assessment tool. An empathy enhancement program for premedical students was developed. The Korean version of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Student version (JSE-S) and Interpersonal Reactivity Index (K-IRI) were used to measure self-assessed changes in empathy. Clinical vignettes demonstrating empathy tasks were presented to participants undergoing fMRI, to assess regional changes in the brain. Self-reported empathy scores and brain activity signals using fMRI from before and after the program were compared. The JSE-S total and perspective taking scores significantly increased after the program. Data from the fMRI revealed noticeable differences in cognitive regions associated with empathy, namely the right superior medial frontal gyrus and left precentral gyrus. This study results support the prior evidence of positive impact of empathy education. In addition, the authors suggest that brain fMRI might be used in measuring the effectiveness of empathy education.

- Abstract
Science museums make the effort to create exhibits with amusing explanations. However, existing explanation signs with lengthy text are not appealing, and as such, visitors do not pay attention to them. In contrast, conspicuous comic strips composed of simple drawings and humors can attract science museum visitors. This study attempted to reveal whether comic strips contribute to science exhibitions. More than 20 comic strips were chosen that were associated with exhibits in a science museum. The individual episodes were printed out and placed beside the corresponding exhibits. A questionnaire was administered to museum visitors to evaluate the effects of the comic strips. Most visitors responded that the comic strips were helpful in understanding the exhibits and in familiarizing themselves with the science. Participants also described the comic strips' deficiencies which will be considered for future revisions. Comic strips are likely to enhance interest in and comprehension of science exhibitions. Furthermore, these strips are expected to enrich science museums in various ways such as establishing their uniqueness.

Recognition of sadness from facial expressions is associated with empathic responses. In this study, we devised an emotional probabilistic reward task (PRT) to facilitate sadness recognition and tested its effects on attentional and empathic responses to others in distress. During the emotional PRT, healthy participants were asked to discriminate between facial expressions subtly expressing sadness or anger. Reward feedback for correct sadness and anger recognition was provided, with different probabilities between the training (70% vs. 30%) and control groups (50% vs. 50%). Subsequently, participants performed a visual dot-probe task involving facial expressions of sadness, anger, fear, and happiness. They also completed an empathy rating task while viewing short video clips depicting people experiencing distressing or neutral events. The results showed that the training group developed greater recognition bias for sadness than the control group. Within the training group, sad recognition bias was positively associated with subsequent attentional orienting to sad faces and empathic concern towards distressed others. These findings suggest that the emotional PRT holds promise for modifying cognitive and emotional processes that are associated with empathy for others. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Floor-to-wheelchair transfers are one of the most challenging tasks for individuals with lower body injuries. With the average wheelchair seat height ranging between 18 and 20 inches, individuals often experience cuff tears, shoulder and wrist pain, and further progression of pre-existing injuries. The Assist Handle is a portable grab bar that can assist individuals using wheelchairs with various mobility tasks, such as floor-to-wheelchair transfers, crawling support, and opening hard-to-reach doors in a portable and independent manner. The Assist Handle can be disassembled and connected to the frame of the wheelchair through an interlocking mechanism, allowing versatile availability when necessary. Multiple rounds of voice-of-the-customer interviews were conducted to validate risky assumptions in regards to necessary device requirements. Through iterative rounds of usability testing, the device increases the maximum achieved hip height at a mean of 10 inches. Future rounds of usability testing will be conducted to make further improvements on the specifications and requirements of the device.

LIPID rafts ,PLANT cell walls ,ENZYME regulation ,CULTIVARS ,PLASMODESMATA - Abstract
Callose, a β‐1,3‐glucan plant cell wall polymer, regulates symplasmic channel size at plasmodesmata (PD) and plays a crucial role in a variety of plant processes. However, elucidating the molecular mechanism of PD callose homeostasis is limited. We screened and identified an Arabidopsis mutant plant with excessive callose deposition at PD and found that the mutated gene was α1‐COP, a member of the coat protein I (COPI) coatomer complex. We report that loss of function of α1‐COP elevates the callose accumulation at PD by affecting subcellular protein localization of callose degradation enzyme PdBG2. This process is linked to the functions of ERH1, an inositol phosphoryl ceramide synthase, and glucosylceramide synthase through physical interactions with the α1‐COP protein. Additionally, the loss of function of α1‐COP alters the subcellular localization of ERH1 and GCS proteins, resulting in a reduction of GlcCers and GlcHCers molecules, which are key sphingolipid (SL) species for lipid raft formation. Our findings suggest that α1‐COP protein, together with SL modifiers controlling lipid raft compositions, regulates the subcellular localization of GPI‐anchored PDBG2 proteins, and hence the callose turnover at PD and symplasmic movement of biomolecules. Our findings provide the first key clue to link the COPI‐mediated intracellular trafficking pathway to the callose‐mediated intercellular signaling pathway through PD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TRANSCRIPTION factors ,DISEASE resistance of plants ,PLANT proteins ,ARABIDOPSIS proteins ,IMMUNE response - Abstract
Pathogens generate and secrete effector proteins to the host plant cells during pathogenesis to promote virulence and colonization. If the plant carries resistance (R) proteins that recognize pathogen effectors, effector‐triggered immunity (ETI) is activated, resulting in a robust immune response and hypersensitive response (HR). The bipartite effector AvrRps4 from Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi has been well studied in terms of avirulence function. In planta, AvrRps4 is processed into two parts. The C‐terminal fragment of AvrRps4 (AvrRps4C) induces HR in turnip and is recognized by the paired resistance proteins AtRRS1/AtRPS4 in Arabidopsis. Here, we show that AvrRps4C targets a group of Arabidopsis WRKY, including WRKY46, WRKY53, WRKY54, and WRKY70, to induce its virulence function. Indeed, AvrRps4C suppresses the general binding and transcriptional activities of immune‐positive regulator WRKY54 and WRKY54‐mediated resistance. AvrRps4C interferes with WRKY54's binding activity to target gene SARD1 in vitro, suggesting WRKY54 is sequestered from the SARD1 promoter by AvrRps4C. Through the interaction of AvrRps4C with four WRKYs, AvrRps4 enhances the formation of homo‐/heterotypic complexes of four WRKYs and sequesters them in the cytoplasm, thus inhibiting their function in plant immunity. Together, our results provide a detailed virulence mechanism of AvrRps4 through its C‐terminus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
