The low-latitude ionosphere exhibits high variability, particularly in the Brazilian sector. characterized by a high negative declination angle of the magnetic field; by the occurrence of the Equatorial Ionization Anomaly, EIA; and the South American Magnetic Anomaly, SAMA. Large-scale equatorial plasma irregularities, or plasma bubbles, EPBs, and ionospheric scintillation are the subject of extensive studies, as well as, Meso and Large Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances, MSTIDs, and LSTIDs, respectively. Complex physics mechanisms enclosing Magnetosphere-Thermosphere- Ionosphere (MTI) coupling, and Mesosphere- Low-Thermosphere, MLT, pose many unresolved questions even after decades of studies. Special attention has been given to the influence of intense geomagnetic storms driven by Coronal Mass Ejections, CMEs, and their spurious effects on technological systems. However, in past decades, an intriguing and fascinating player was posed as the focus of the attention of the international space science community owing to the two last deep solar minima: the solar wind. The solar wind is a plasma coming from solar coronal holes which travels in interplanetary space causing geomagnetic disturbances mainly during the declining phase and minimum of the solar cycle. Our findings have shown that the low-latitude ionosphere is highly sensitive to solar wind and its variability is an exciting puzzle to be unraveled. In this work, we present our recent findings on the Brazilian low latitude ionosphere associated with fast solar wind streams in recent solar cycles, in multiple ground-and satellite-based instruments approach. This work uses samples of the species Imbuia, (Ocotea porosa (Nees & Mart) Barroso), collected in the city of General Carneiro, southeastern region of the State of Paraná (26º24'01 25 "S 51º24'03 91" W), Brazil, for generate the dendrochronological series of this region. The samples selected for this study were obtained through Cluster Analysis, which classifies objects (samples) based on their similarities. In order to obtain the dendrochronological series, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) statistical method was applied. After obtaining the Principal Components (PCs), the series were reconstructed without the 1st PC, which is an estimate of the trend that best represents the natural growth of all trees in the place. The average of the series without the 1st PC is the dendrochronological series. The PCA method has several advantages over the traditional method of obtaining the time series, such as rapid data processing, an automated way to remove the natural growth trend in all samples at the same time, and also the fact of integrating a tool Alternating Least Squares (ALS) method to estimate or recover data failures. Este trabajo utiliza muestras de la especie Imbuia, (Ocotea porosa (Nees & Mart) Barroso), recolectadas en la ciudad de General Carneiro, región sureste del Estado de Paraná (26º24'01 25 "S 51º24'03 91" O), Brasil, para generar la serie dendrocronológica de esta región. Las muestras seleccionadas para este estudio se obtuvieron a través de Cluster Analysis, que clasifica objetos (muestras) en función de sus similitudes. Para la obtención de la serie dendrocronológica se aplicó el método estadístico de Análisis de Componentes Principales (Principal Component Analysis - PCA). Luego de obtener los Componentes Principales (Principal Componentes - PCs), se reconstruyeron las series sin el 1º PC, siendo una estimación de la tendencia que mejor representa el crecimiento natural de todos los árboles del lugar. El promedio de la serie sin el 1er PC es la serie dendrocronológica. El método PCA tiene varias ventajas sobre el método tradicional de obtención de series de tiempo, como el procesamiento rápido de datos, una forma automatizada de eliminar la tendencia de crecimiento natural en todas las muestras al mismo tiempo, y también el hecho de integrar una herramienta Alternando Mínimos Cuadrados (ALS) para estimar o recuperar fallas de datos. Este trabalho utiliza amostras da espécie Imbuia, (Ocotea porosa (Nees & Mart) Barroso), coletadas na cidade de General Carneiro, região Sudeste do Estado do Paraná (26º24’01 25"S 51º24’03 91"O), Brasil, para gerar a série dendrocronológica desta região. As amostras selecionadas para este estudo foram obtidas por meio de Análise de Clusters, que classifica objetos (amostras) com base em suas semelhanças. Com a finalidade de obter a série dendrocronológica, aplicou-se o método estatístico Análise de Componentes Principais (do inglês Principal Component Analysis- PCA). Obtidas as Componentes Principais (Principal Componentes - PCs), reconstruiu-se as séries sem a 1ª PC, sendo uma estimativa da tendência que melhor representa o crescimento natural de todas as árvores do local. A média das séries sem a 1ª PC é a série dendrocronológica. O método de PCA traz diversas vantagens sobre o método tradicional de obtenção da série cronológica como o processamento rápido de dados, uma forma automatizada de remover a tendência natural de crescimento em todas as amostras ao mesmo tempo, e também, o fato de integrar uma ferramenta poderosa, o método dos mínimos quadrados alternados (do inglês Alternating Least Squares – ALS), para estimar ou recuperar falhas de dados.

This study analyzes the disturbances in the geomagnetic field related to the earthquake, and the consequent tsunami, which occurred on February 27, 2010, in Maule, Chile. The purpose of this article is to contribute to a better understanding of the physical processes involved in the Tsunami-Atmosphere-Ionosphere (TAI) and Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere (LAI) couplings. To this end, records of fluxgate magnetometers measured on the surface provided by the LISN project (Low Latitude Ionospheric Sensor Network) were used. The methodology of signal filtering by removing the Sq baseline (related to the Solar Quiet variabilities) considering the five geomagnetically quieter days was applied. In both the H and Z components, the results show geomagnetic disturbances in the filtered data that occurred almost instantly or with a delay of up to 100 minutes after the tsunami's arrival. These disturbances are attributed to be of oceanic and ionospheric origin. Studies like this are important to a future prediction condition and early warning of disasters of this nature. El presente estudio se centra en el análisis de las perturbaciones del campo geomagnético que están relacionadas con el terremoto y el consiguiente tsunami, que ocurrió el 27 de febrero de 2010 en Maule, Chile.El propósito de este análisis es contribuir a una mejor comprensión de los procesos físicos involucrados en los acoplamientos Tsunami-Atmósfera-Ionosfera (TAI) y Litosfera-Atmósfera - Ionosfera (LAI).Para esto, se utilizaron registros de magnetómetrosfluxgatemedidos en la superficie, proporcionados por el proyecto LISN (del inglésLow Latitude Ionospheric Sensor Network).Para este análisis, se utilizó la metodología de filtrado de la señal mediante la eliminación de la tendencia relacionada con la influencia solar (línea base Sq, del inglésSolar quiet) considerando los cinco días geomagnéticamente más tranquilos.Los resultados muestran perturbaciones geomagnéticas, tanto en componentes H como Z, en los datos filtrados que ocurrieron casi instantáneamente o con un retraso de hasta 100 minutos después de la llegada del tsunami. Estas perturbaciones se atribuyen a los mecanismos oceánico e ionosférico. Estudios como este son importantes para una condición futura de pronóstico y advertencia de desastres de esta naturaleza. Este estudo foca na análise das perturbações do campo geomagnético que estão relacionadas com o terremoto, e consequente tsunami, que ocorreram em 27 de fevereiro de 2010 em Maule, no Chile. O objetivo deste artigo é contribuir para uma melhor compreensão dos processos físicos envolvidos nos acoplamentos Tsunami-Atmosfera-Ionosfera (TAI) e Litosfera-Atmosfera-Ionosfera (LAI). Para isto, foram utilizados registros de magnetômetros fluxgate medidos em superfície fornecidos pelo projeto LISN (do inglês Low Latitude Ionospheric Sensor Network). A metodologia de filtragem do sinal por remoção da tendência relacionada à influência solar (linha de base Sq, do inglês Solar quiet) considerando os cinco dias geomagneticamente mais calmos foi aplicada. Os resultados mostraram distúrbios geomagnéticos, em ambas componentes H e Z, nos dados filtrados que ocorreram quase instantaneamente ou com atraso de até 100 minutos após a chegada do tsunami. Estes distúrbios são atribuídos aos mecanismos oceânico e ionosférico. Estudos como esse são importantes para uma futura condição de previsão e alerta de desastres dessa natureza.
