In this article the author exposes in a synthetic way the fundamental contents and the main conclusions of his book “A new science? A critical reading of Edgar Morin's 'La Méthode' ". The book, published in Swedish, has as its axis the analysis of Morin's project of a "scienza nuova" based on a knowledge of knowledge, as he develops it in the first four volumes of "The Method", which were the ones that were had been published when the author wrote the doctoral thesis from which the book is the fruit. The author, from a contextualist approach, criticizes the ambivalence in which, in his opinion, Morin's approaches incur on the question of the relationship of science with the social contexts in which it occurs and Morin's tendency to incur in the objectivism. He relates these approaches to the mechanical determinism that Morin –unwisely– attributes to “sociologism” and the sociology of knowledge., Grupo de investigación Antropología y Filosofía (SEJ-126). The article is a simultaneously didactic and informative deep introduction on the emergence of the paradigm of complexity for sociology. Along the narrative, we make comparisons, which allows the reader who is not familiar with the themes of science to identify the macro-paradigmatic pre-modern differences from simple modernity and the emergence of the paradigm of complexity. Whenever it is possible, we define and exemplify the terms, assertions, and principles that are significant for an understanding of the theme. We have also made numerous indications of authors and works within the narrative, thus those willing might take a deeper dive in the pathways of sociology of complexity. The article starts with an introduction that defines, after Thomas Kuhn, the concept of paradigm. Then we comparatively develop the most important principles of the paradigm of complexity. And finally, we draw attention for some challenges of sociology in complexity, warning against the risks of paralysis of complexity in the hard task of re-linking knowledges in face of the hyper-specialization present in the crisis of the paradigm of simple modernity.

International audience; Several approaches and corresponding definitions of complexity have been developed in different fields. Urban systems are the archetype of complex socio-technical systems concerned with these different viewpoints. We suggest in this chapter some links between three types of complexity, namely emergence, computational complexity and informational complexity. We discuss the implication of these links on the necessity of reflexivity to produce a knowledge of the complex, and how this connects to the interdisciplinary of approaches in particular for socio-technical systems. We finally synthesize this positioning as a proposal of an epistemological framework called applied perspectivism, and discuss the implications for the study of urban systems.

After showing that language and writing are used as basic resources in sociology, this article seeks to identify issues raised by writing in sociology to produce the knowledge expected of this discipline as other social sciences. After considering the status of sociological knowledge and use of language that this knowledge requires, the article seeks to define the rules to be followed by sociologists in order to explain what it means in science. The arguments presented here differ from those developed in some post-modern theories, according to which sociology is after all only a matter of language, and sociologists are authors like novelists. The article is based on considerations developed in particular by Pierre Bourdieu. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

What does it mean to be a teacher nowadays? Which ways can be taken in teacher training considering the information society? Is there a pedagogical rea-soning nowadays? These and other questions are useful to bring out a reflection on teaching as a teacher and student emancipation process grounded on creativity and working through uncertainty. To achieve this goal we rely on the theoretical support of The Complexity Theory of Edgar Morin by bringing together complex thinking principles and the school institution. We defend a kind of knowledge that is provisional and bound by the totality of culture, biology and society. Such knowledge may be the foundation under which teachers can reframe their practice and make their knowledge meaningful. It also represents an ideal of educational planning as a strategic device aware of the social space randomness and open to adventures of chance and historical unpredictability. In this sense, Edgar Morin’s work embraces not an innovative education but another view on pedagogical processes thought through the lens of human understanding, the knowledge and the restoration of ethics and solidarity in a globalization age.
