Faddeev calculations of low-energy $\Lambda$-deuteron elastic scattering are performed up to $E_{cm}=20$ MeV across the deuteron threshold. Phase shifts of the $s$-wave with $J=1/2$ and $J=3/2$ are calculated using strangeness $S=-1$ hyperon-nucleon interactions in chiral effective field theory NLO13 and NLO19 parametrized by the J{\"u}lich-Bonn group. Effective range parameters, such as a scattering length and an effective range, are determined through the calculated phase shifts. $\Lambda$-deuteron momentum correlation functions are evaluated using the $\Lambda$-deuteron relative wave function constructed from half-off-shell $t$-matrices. Faddeev calculations of hypertriton ($_\Lambda^3$H) separation energy are performed, incorporating all next-to-next-to-leading-order $\Lambda$NN three-body forces (3BFs) in chiral effective field theory: $2\pi$-exchange, $1\pi$-exchange, and contact interactions. The $1\pi$-exchange and contact interactions are rewritten in a form suitable for evaluating partial-wave matrix elements. The $\Lambda$-deuteron folding potentials constructed from these 3BFs are evaluated to demonstrate their contributions to \h3t. The $1\pi$-exchange interaction provides an attractive effect in which the d-state component of the deuteron wave function plays an important role. The attractive contribution tends to cancel the repulsive ones from the $2\pi$-exchange and contact 3BFs. Faddeev calculations show that the net effect of the 3BFs to the \h3t separation energy is small in a range between $-5$ to $+20$ keV, depending on the NN interaction used. Faddeev calculations of hypertriton ($_\Lambda^3$H) separation energy are performed, incorporating $2\pi$-exchange $\Lambda $NN three-baryon force. An expression of partial wave expansion of three-baryon interactions in chiral effective field theory is presented. The derivation follows the method by Hebeler et al. [Phys. Rev. C{\bf 91}, 044001 (2015)], but the final expression is more general. That is, a systematic treatment of the higher-rank spin-momentum structure of the interaction becomes possible. Using the derived formula, a $\Lambda$-deuteron folding potential is evaluated. This information is valuable for inferring the possible contribution of the $\Lambda NN$ three-baryon forces to the hypertriton as the basis of further studies by sophisticated Faddeev calculations. The $\Xi$ single-particle potential obtained in nuclear matter with the next-to-leading order baryon-baryon interactions in chiral effective field theory is applied to finite nuclei by an improved local-density approximation method. As a premise, phase shifts of $\Xi N$ elastic scattering and the results of Faddeev calculations for the $\Xi NN$ bound state problem are presented to show the properties of the $\Xi N$ interactions in the present parametrization. First, the $\Xi$ states in $^{14}$N are revisited because of the recent experimental progress, including the discussion on the $\Xi N$ spin-orbit interaction that is relevant to the location of the $p$-state. Then the $\Xi$ levels in $^{56}$Fe are calculated. In particular, the level shift which is expected to be measured experimentally in the near future is predicted. W3 is one of the most outstanding regions of high-mass star formation in the outer solar circle, including two active star-forming clouds, W3 Main and W3(OH). Based on a new analysis of the $^{12}$CO data obtained at 38$^{\prime\prime}$ resolution, we have found three clouds having molecular mass from 2000 to 8000~$M_\odot$ at velocities, $-50$~km s$^{-1}$, $-43$~km s$^{-1}$, and $-39$~km s$^{-1}$. The $-43$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud is the most massive one, overlapping with the $-39$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud and the $-50$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud toward W3 Main and W3(OH), respectively. In W3 Main and W3(OH), we have found typical signatures of a cloud-cloud collision, i.e., the complementary distribution with/without a displacement between the two clouds and/or a V-shape in the position-velocity diagram. We frame a hypothesis that a cloud-cloud collision triggered the high-mass star formation in each region. The collision in W3 Main involves the $-39$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud and the $-43$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud. The collision likely produced a cavity in the $-43$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud having a size similar to the $-39$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud and triggered the formation of young high-mass stars in IC~1795 2 Myr ago. We suggest that the $-39$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud is still triggering the high-mass objects younger than 1 Myr embedded in W3 Main currently. On the other hand, another collision between the $-50$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud and the $-43$~km s$^{-1}$ cloud likely formed the heavily embedded objects in W3(OH) within $\sim$0.5 Myr ago. We have carried out a new kinematical analysis of the molecular gas in the Sh2-233 region by using the CO $J$ = 2-1 data taken at $\sim$0.5 pc resolution. The molecular gas consists of a filamentary cloud of 5-pc length with 1.5-pc width where two dense cloud cores are embedded. The filament lies between two clouds, which have a velocity difference of 2.6 km s$^{-1}$ and are extended over $\sim$5 pc. We frame a scenario that the two clouds are colliding with each other and compressed the gas between them to form the filament in $\sim$0.5 Myr which is perpendicular to the collision. It is likely that the collision formed not only the filamentary cloud but also the two dense cores. One of the dense cores is associated with the high-mass protostellar candidate IRAS 05358+3543, a representative high-mass protostar. In the monolithic collapse scheme of high mass star formation, a compact dense core of 100 $M_\odot$ within a volume of 0.1 pc radius is assumed as the initial condition, whereas the formation of such a core remained unexplained in the previous works. We argue that the proposed collision is a step which efficiently collects the gas of 100 $M_\odot$ into 0.1 pc radius. The Faddeev equations for the $\Xi NN$ bound-state problem are solved where the three $S$=$-2$ baryon-baryon interactions of J\"ulich-Bonn-M\"unchen chiral EFT, HAL QCD and Nijmegen ESC08c are used. The $T$-matrix $T_{\Xi N, \Xi N}$ obtained within the original $\Lambda\Lambda$-$\Xi N$-$\Sigma\Sigma$ $/$ $\Xi N$-$\Lambda \Sigma$-$\Sigma\Sigma$ coupled-channel framework is employed as an input to the equations. We found no bound state for J\"ulich-Bonn-M\"unchen chiral EFT and HAL QCD but ESC08c generates a bound state with the total isospin and spin-parity $(T,J^{\pi})=(1/2, 3/2^+)$ where the decays into $\Lambda\Lambda N$ are suppressed., Comment: to appear in the proceedings of APFB2020

We have analyzed new CO($J$ = 1-0) data in the region of a reflection nebula NGC 2023 with a particular focus on the detailed kinematical properties of the molecular gas. The results show that there are two velocity components which indicate signatures of dynamical interaction revealed at a high resolution of 19$''$ (= 0.04 pc). Based on the results we propose a hypothesis that two clouds collided with each other and triggered the formation of the B1.5 star HD 37903 in addition to 20 lower mass stars in two small clusters with a size of 2 pc. Although the previous study favored a scheme of triggering by the HII region (e.g., Mookerjea et al. 2009), the present results show that the effect of the HII region is limited only to the surface of the molecular cloud, and does not contribute to the gas compression and star formation. The present results lend support for the dominant role of cloud-cloud collision in forming high mass stars in addition to $\sim$20 lower mass stars, which are also likely formed by the collision. Properties of the baryon-baryon interactions in the strangeness $S=-2$ sector of chiral effective field theory at the next-to-leading order (NLO) level are explored by calculating $\Xi$ single-particle potentials in symmetric nuclear matter. The results are transformed to the $\Xi$ potential in finite nuclei by a local-density approximation with convolution by a Gaussian form factor to simulate finite-range effects. The $\Xi$ potential is repulsive in a central region, and attractive in a surface area when the $\Xi$ energy is low. The attractive pocket can lower the $\Xi^-$ $s$ and $p$ atomic states. The obtained binding energies in $^{12}$C and $^{14}$N are found to be conformable with those found in emulsion experiments at Japan's National Laboratory for High Energy Physics (KEK). $K^+$ spectra of $(K^-, K^+)$ $\Xi$ production inclusive processes on $^9$Be and $^{12}$C are also evaluated, using a semi-classical distorted wave method. The absolute values of the cross section are properly reproduced for $^9$Be, but the peak locates at a lower energy position than that of the experimental data. The calculated spectrum of $^{12}$C should be compared with the forthcoming result from the new experiments recently carried out at KEK with better resolution than before. The comparison would be valuable to improve the understanding of the $\Xi N$ interaction, the parametrization of which has still large uncertainties., Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures

The ground-state energies and radii for $^{4}$He, $^{16}$O, and $^{40}$Ca are calculated with the unitary-model-operator approach (UMOA). In the present study, we employ the similarity renormalization group (SRG) evolved nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) and three-nucleon ($3N$) interactions based on the chiral effective field theory. This is the first UMOA calculation with both $NN$ and $3N$ interactions. The calculated ground-state energies and radii are consistent with the recent {\it ab initio} results with the same interaction. We evaluate the expectation values with two- and three-body SRG evolved radius operators, in addition to those with the bare radius operator. With the aid of the higher-body evolution of radius operator, it is seen that the calculated radii tend to be SRG resolution-scale independent. We find that the SRG evolution gives minor modifications for the radius operator., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures

The Pauli rearrangement potential given by the second-order diagram is evaluated for a nucleon optical model potential (OMP) with $G$ matrices of the nucleon-nucleon interaction in chiral effective field theory. The results obtained in nuclear matter are applied for $^{40}$Ca in a local-density approximation. The repulsive effect is of the order of 5MeV at the normal density. The density dependence indicates that the real part of the microscopic OMP becomes shallower in a central region, but is barely affected in a surface area. This improves the overall resemblance of the microscopic OMP to the empirical one., Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures

The FUGIN CO survey with the Nobeyama 45-m Telescope revealed the 3D structure of a galactic shock wave in the tangential direction of the 4-kpc molecular arm. The shock front is located at G30.5+00.0+95 km/s on the up-stream (lower longitude) side of the star-forming complex W43 (G30.8-0.03), and composes a molecular bow shock (MBS) concave to W43, exhibiting an arc-shaped molecular ridge perpendicular to the galactic plane with width $\sim 0^\circ.1$ (10 pc) and vertical length $\sim 1^\circ \ (100\ {\rm pc})$. The MBS is coincident with the radio continuum bow of thermal origin, indicating association of ionized gas and similarity to a cometary bright-rimmed cloud. The up-stream edge of the bow is sharp with a growth width of $\sim 0.5$ pc indicative of shock front property. The velocity width is $\sim 10$ km/s, and the center velocity decreases by $\sim 15$ \kms from bottom to top of the bow. The total mass of molecular gas in MBS is estimated to be $\sim 1.2\times 10^6 <_\odot$ and ionized gas $\sim 2\times 10^4 M_\odot$. The vertical disk thickness increases step like at the MBS by $\sim 2$ times from lower to upper longitude, which indicates hydraulic-jump in the gaseous disk. We argue that the MBS was formed by the galactic shock compression of an accelerated flow in the spiral-arm potential encountering the W43 molecular complex. A bow-shock theory can well reproduce the bow morphology. We argue that molecular bows are common in galactic shock waves not only in the Galaxy but also in galaxies, where MBS are associated with giant cometary HII regions. We also analyzed the HI data in the same region to obtain a map of HI optical depth and molecular fraction. Adopting hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-nucleon-nucleon interactions parametrized in chiral effective field theory, single-particle potentials of the $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ hyperons are evaluated in symmetric nuclear matter and in pure neutron matter within the framework of lowest order Bruckner theory. The chiral NLO interaction bears strong $\Lambda$N-$\Sigma$N coupling. Although the $\Lambda$ potential is repulsive if the coupling is switched off, the $\Lambda$N-$\Sigma$N correlation brings about the attraction consistent with empirical data. The $\Sigma$ potential is repulsive, which is also consistent with empirical information. The interesting result is that the $\Lambda$ potential becomes shallower beyond normal density. This provides the possibility to solve the hyperon puzzle without introducing ad hoc assumptions. The effects of the $\Lambda$NN-$\Lambda$NN and $\Lambda$NN-$\Sigma$NN three-baryon forces are considered. These three-baryon forces are first reduced to normal-ordered effective two-baryon interactions in nuclear matter and then incorporated in the $G$-matrix equation. The repulsion from the $\Lambda$NN-$\Lambda$NN interaction is of the order of 5 MeV at the normal density, and becomes larger with increasing the density. The effects of the $\Lambda$NN-$\Sigma$NN coupling compensate the repulsion at normal density. We carried out $^{12}$CO($J$ = 1-0) observations of the Galactic gamma-ray supernova remnant (SNR) Kesteven 79 using the Nobeyama Radio Observatory 45 m radio telescope, which has an angular resolution of $\sim20$ arcsec. We identified molecular and atomic gas interacting with Kesteven 79 whose radial velocity is $\sim80$ km s$^{-1}$. The interacting molecular and atomic gases show good spatial correspondence with the X-ray and radio shells, which have an expanding motion with an expanding velocity of $\sim4$ km s$^{-1}$. The molecular gas associated with the radio and X-ray peaks also exhibits a high-intensity ratio of CO 3-2/1-0 $>$ 0.8, suggesting a kinematic temperature of $\sim24$ K, owing to heating by the supernova shock. We determined the kinematic distance to the SNR to be $\sim5.5$ kpc and the radius of the SNR to be $\sim8$ pc. The average interstellar proton density inside of the SNR is $\sim360$ cm$^{-3}$, of which atomic protons comprise only $\sim10$ $\%$. Assuming a hadronic origin for the gamma-ray emission, the total cosmic-ray proton energy above 1 GeV is estimated to be $\sim5 \times 10^{48}$ erg., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, 2 tables, accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal (ApJ)

We present $Spitzer$/IRS mid-infrared spectral maps of the Galactic star-forming region M17 as well as IRSF/SIRIUS Br$\gamma$ and Nobeyama 45-m/FOREST $^{13}$CO ($J$=1--0) maps. The spectra show prominent features due to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) at wavelengths of 6.2, 7.7, 8.6, 11.3, 12.0, 12.7, 13.5, and 14.2 $\mu$m. We find that the PAH emission features are bright in the region between the HII region traced by Br$\gamma$ and the molecular cloud traced by $^{13}$CO, supporting that the PAH emission originates mostly from photo-dissociation regions. Based on the spatially-resolved $Spitzer$/IRS maps, we examine spatial variations of the PAH properties in detail. As a result, we find that the interband ratio of PAH 7.7 $\mu$m/PAH 11.3 $\mu$m varies locally near M17SW, but rather independently of the distance from the OB stars in M17, suggesting that the degree of PAH ionization is mainly controlled by local conditions rather than the global UV environments determined by the OB stars in M17. We also find that the interband ratios of the PAH 12.0 $\mu$m, 12.7 $\mu$m, 13.5 $\mu$m, and 14.2 $\mu$m features to the PAH 11.3 $\mu$m feature are high near the M17 center, which suggests structural changes of PAHs through processing due to intense UV radiation, producing abundant edgy irregular PAHs near the M17 center., Comment: 22 pages, 12 figures, ApJ accepted

The nuclear saturation mechanism is discussed in terms of two-nucleon and three-nucleon interactions in chiral effective field theory (Ch-EFT), using the framework of lowest-order Brueckner theory. After the Coester band, which is observed in calculating saturation points with various nucleon-nucleon (NN) forces, is revisited using modern NN potentials and their low-momentum equivalent interactions, detailed account of the saturation curve of the Ch-EFT interaction is presented. The three-nucleon force (3NF) is treated by reducing it to an effective two-body interaction by folding the third nucleon degrees of freedom. Uncertainties due to the choice of the 3NF low-energy constants $c_D$ and $c_E$ are discussed. The reduction of the cutoff-energy dependence of the NN potential is explained by demonstrating the effect of the 3NF in the $^1$S$_0$ and $^3$S$_1$ states., Comment: 14 pages, 11 figures

A spin-singlet ground state with a spin gap has been discovered in antiferromagnetic spin chain substances when the spin value is 1/2, 1 or 2. To find spin gap (singlet-triplet) excitations in spin-3/2 chain substances, we performed inelastic neutron scattering and magnetization measurements on {\it R}CrGeO$_5$ ({\it R} = Y or Sm) powders. As expected, we observed spin gap excitations and the dispersion relation of the lowest magnetic excitations. Energies of symmetric nuclear matter and neutron matter are evaluated in the lowest order Bruekner theory using the Ch-EFT potential including effects of the three-nucleon force (3NF). The 3NF is first reduced to density-dependent nucleon-nucleon (NN) force by folding single-nucleon degrees of freedom in infinite matter. Adding the reduced NN force to the initial NN force and applying a partial-wave expansion, we perform $G$-matrix calculations in pure neutron matter as well as in symmetric nuclear. We obtain the saturation curve which is close to the empirical one. It is explicitly shown that the cutoff-energy dependence of the calculated energies is substantially reduced by including the 3NF. Characters of the 3NF contributions in separate spin and isospin channels are discussed. Calculated energies of the neutron matter are very similar to those used in the literature for considering neutron star properties., Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures

The contribution of a chiral three-nucleon force to the strength of an effective spin-orbit coupling is estimated. We first construct a reduced two-body interaction by folding one-nucleon degrees of freedom of the three-nucleon force in nuclear matter. The spin-orbit strength is evaluated by a Scheerbaum factor obtained by the $G$-matrix calculation in nuclear matter with the two-nucleon interaction plus the reduced two-nucleon interaction. The problem of the insufficiency of modern realistic two-nucleon interactions to account for the empirical spin-orbit strength is resolved. It is also indicated that the spin-orbit coupling is weaker in the neutron-rich environment. Because the spin-orbit component from the three-nucleon force is determined by the low-energy constants fixed in the two-nucleon sector, there is little uncertainty in the present estimation., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

The reformulated coupled-cluster method (CCM), in which average many-body potentials are introduced, provides a useful framework to organize numerous terms appearing in CCM equations, which enables us to clarify the structure of the CCM theory and physical importance of various terms more easily. We explicitly apply this framework to $^4$He, retaining one-body and two-body correlations as the first illustrating attempt. Numerical results with using two modern nucleon-nucleon interactions (AV18 and CD-Bonn) and their low-momentum interactions are presented. The characters of short-range and many-body correlations are discussed. Hyperon-nucleons interactions constructed by two frameworks, the Kyoto-Niigata SU$_6$ quark model and the chiral effective field theory, are compared by investigating equivalent interactions in a low-momentum space and in addition by calculating hyperon single-particle potentials in the lowest-order Brueckner theory in symmetric nuclear matter. Two descriptions are shown to give similar matrix elements in most channels after renormalizing high momentum components. Although the range of the $\Lambda N$ interaction is different in two potentials, the $\Lambda$ single-particle potential in nuclear matter is very similar. The $\Sigma$-nucleus and $\Xi$-nucleus potentials are also found to be similar. These predictions are to be confronted with forthcoming experimental data., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures. The nonlocality of the microscopic nucleon-nucleus optical potential is commonly localized by the Brieva-Rook approximation. The validity of the localization is tested for the proton+$^{90}$Zr scattering at the incident energies from 65 MeV to 800 MeV. Localized single-particle potentials for all octet baryons, $N$, $\Lambda$, $\Sigma$, and $\Xi$, in finite nuclei, $^{12}$C, $^{16}$O, $^{28}$Si, $^{40}$Ca, $^{56}$Fe, and $^{90}$Zr, are calculated using the quark-model baryon-baryon interactions. $G$-matrices evaluated in symmetric nuclear matter in the lowest order Brueckner theory are applied to finite nuclei in local density approximation. Non-local potentials are localized by a zero-momentum Wigner transformation. Empirical single-particle properties of the nucleon and the $\Lambda$ hyperon in nuclear medium have been known to be explained semi-quantitatively in the LOBT framework. Attention is focused in the present consideration on predictions for the $\Sigma$ and $\Xi$ hyperons. The unified description for the octet baryon-baryon interactions by the SU$_6$ quark-model enables us to obtain less ambiguous extrapolation to the $S=-1$ and $S=-2$ sectors based on the knowledge in the $NN$ sector than other potential models. The $\Sigma$ mean field is shown to be weakly attractive at the surface, but turns to be repulsive inside, which is consistent with the experimental evidence. The $\Xi$ hyperon s.p. potential is also attractive at the nuclear surface region, and inside fluctuates around zero. Hence $\Xi$ hypernuclear bound states are unlikely. We also evaluate energy shifts of the $\Sigma^-$ and $\Xi^-$ atomic levels in $^{28}$Si and $^{56}$Fe, using the calculated s.p. potentials.

We reexamine the spin-orbit splitting of 9 Lambda Be excited states in terms of the SU_6 quark-model baryon-baryon interaction. The previous folding procedure to generate the Lambda alpha spin-orbit potential from the quark-model Lambda N LS interaction kernel predicted three to five times larger values for Delta E_{ell s}=E_x(3/2^+)-E_x(5/2^+) in the model FSS and fss2. This time, we calculate Lambda alpha LS Born kernel, starting from the LS components of the nuclear-matter G-matrix for the Lambda hyperon. This framework makes it possible to take full account of an important P-wave Lambda N - Sigma N coupling through the antisymmetric LS^{(-)} force involved in the Fermi-Breit interaction. We find that the experimental value, Delta E^{exp}_{ell s}=43 pm 5 keV, is reproduced by the quark-model G-matrix LS interaction with a Fermi-momentum around k_F=1.0 fm^{-1}, when the model FSS is used in the energy-independent renormalized RGM formalism., Comment: 5 pages, no figures

Equivalent interactions in a low-momentum space for the $\Lambda N$, $\Sigma N$ and $\Xi N$ interactions are calculated, using the SU$_6$ quark model potential as well as the Nijmegen OBEP model as the input bare interaction. Because the two-body scattering data has not been accumulated sufficiently to determine the hyperon-nucleon interactions unambiguously, the construction of the potential even in low-energy regions has to rely on a theoretical model. The equivalent interaction after removing high-momentum components is still model dependent. Because this model dependence reflects the character of the underlying potential model, it is instructive for better understanding of baryon-baryon interactions in the strangeness sector to study the low-momentum space $YN$ interactions., Comment: 9 pages, 13 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Previously we calculated the binding energies of the triton and hypertriton, using an SU_6 quark-model interaction derived from a resonating-group method of two baryon clusters. In contrast to the previous calculations employing the energy-dependent interaction kernel, we present new results using a renormalized interaction, which is now energy independent and reserves all the two-baryon data. The new binding energies are slightly smaller than the previous values. In particular the triton binding energy turns out to be 8.14 MeV with a charge-dependence correction of the two-nucleon force, 190 keV, being included. This indicates that about 350 keV is left for the energy which is to be accounted for by three-body forces., Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure

We calculate n alpha phase-shifts and scattering observables in the resonating-group method, using the nuclear-matter G-matrix of an SU_6 quark-model NN interaction. The G-matrix is generated in the recent energy-independent procedure of the quark-model NN interaction with the continuous prescription for intermediate spectra, by assuming an appropriate Fermi momentum k_F=1.2 fm^-1. The n alpha RGM interaction kernels are evaluated with explicit treatments of the nonlocality and momentum dependence of partial-wave G-matrix components. The momentum dependence of the G-matrix components is different for each of the nucleon-exchange and interaction types. Without introducing any artificial parameters except for k_F, the central and spin-orbit components of the n alpha Born kernel are found to have reasonable strengths under the assumption of a rigid translationally invariant shell-model wave function of the alpha-cluster. The characteristic behaviors of three different exchange terms, corresponding to knockout, heavy-particle pickup and nucleon-rearrangement processes, are essentially the same between the case of previous local effective NN forces and the case of nonlocal G-matrix NN interactions., Comment: 26 pages, 8 figures

$(\pi^-,K^+)$ hyperon production inclusive spectra with $p_\pi =1.2$ GeV/c measured at KEK on $^{12}$C and $^{28}$Si are analyzed by the semiclassical distorted wave model. Single-particle wave functions of the target nucleus are treated using Wigner transformation. This method is able to account for the energy and angular dependences of the elementary process in nuclear medium without introducing the factorization approximation frequently employed. Calculations of the $(\pi^+,K^+)$ $\Lambda$ formation process, for which there is no free parameter since the $\Lambda$ s.p. potential is known, demonstrate that the present model is useful to describe inclusive spectra. It is shown that in order to account for the experimental data of the $\Sigma^-$ formation spectra a repulsive $\Sigma$-nucleus potential is necessary whose magnitude is not so strong as around 100 MeV previously suggested., Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures, accepted in Phys. The inclusive K^+ momentum spectrum in the 12C(K^-,K^+) reaction is calculated by the semiclassical distorted wave (SCDW) model, including the transition to the \Xi^- bound state. The calculated spectra with the strength of the \Xi^--nucleus potential -50, -20, and +10 MeV are compared with the experimental data measured at KEK with p_{K^-}=1.65 GeV/c. The shape of the spectrum is reproduced by the calculation. Though the inclusive spectrum changes systematically depending on the potential strength, it is not possible to obtain a constraint on the potential from the present data. The calculated spectrum is found to have strong emission-angle dependence. We also investigate the incident K^- momentum dependence of the spectrum to see the effect of the Fermi motion of the target nucleons which is explicitly treated in the SCDW method., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

We calculate Lambda alpha, Sigma alpha and Xi alpha potentials from the nuclear-matter G-matrices of the SU6 quark-model baryon-baryon interaction. The alpha-cluster wave function is assumed to be a simple harmonic-oscillator shell-model wave function. A new method is proposed to derive the direct and knock-on terms of the interaction Born kernel from the hyperon-nucleon G-matrices, with explicit treatments of the nonlocality and the center-of-mass motion between the hyperon and alpha. We find that the SU6 quark-model baryon-baryon interactions, FSS and fss2, yield a reasonable bound-state energy for 5 He Lambda, -3.18 -- -3.62 MeV, in spite of the fact that they give relatively large depths for the Lambda single-particle potentials, 46 -- 48 MeV, in symmetric nuclear matter. An equivalent local potential derived from the Wigner transform of the nonlocal Lambda alpha kernel shows a strong energy dependence for the incident Lambda-particle, indicating the importance of the strangeness-exchange process in the original hyperon-nucleon interaction. The Sigma alpha and Xi alpha potentials are repulsive with the attractive isospin I=1/2 (Sigma alpha) and I=0 (Xi alpha) components and the repulsive I=3/2 (Sigma alpha) and I=1 (Xi alpha) components., Comment: 34 pages, 16 figures

Semiclassical distorted wave model is developed to describe $(\pi^-,K^+)$ inclusive spectra related to $\Sigma^-$-formation measured at KEK with $p_\pi =1.2$ GeV/c. The shape and magnitude of the spectrum on $^{28}$Si target are satisfactorily reproduced by a repulsive $\Sigma$-nucleus potential, the strength of which is of the order of 30$\sim$50 MeV. This strength is not so strong as more than 100 MeV suggested by the estimation presented in the report of the experiment., Comment: 6 pages, to be published in Prog. Theor. Phys

The previous Faddeev calculation of the two-alpha plus Lambda system for 9 Lambda Be is extended to incorporate the spin-orbit components of the SU_6 quark-model baryon-baryon interactions. We employ the Born kernel of the quark-model Lambda N LS interaction, and generate the spin-orbit component of the Lambda alpha potential by the alpha-cluster folding. The Faddeev calculation in the jj-coupling scheme implies that the direct use of the quark-model Born kernel for the Lambda N LS component is not good enough to reproduce the small experimental value Delta E^exp_{ls}=43 +- 5 keV for the 5/2^+ - 3/2^+ splitting. This procedure predicts three to five times larger values in the model FSS and fss2. The spin-orbit contribution from the effective meson-exchange potentials in fss2 is argued to be unfavorable to the small ls splitting, through the analysis of the Scheerbaum factors for the single-particle spin-orbit potentials calculated in the G-matrix formalism., Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure

Quark-model hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions by the Kyoto-Niigata group are applied to the two-Lambda plus alpha system in a new three-cluster Faddeev formalism using two-cluster resonating-group method kernels. The model fss2 gives a reasonable two-Lambda separation energy Delta B_{Lambda Lambda}=1.41 MeV, which is consistent with the recent empirical value, Delta B^{exp}_{Lambda Lambda}=1.01 +/- 0.20 MeV, deduced from the Nagara event. We carry out Faddeev calculations of three-alpha (3 alpha) and two-alpha plus Lambda (alpha alpha Lambda) systems, using two-cluster resonating-group method kernels. The input includes an effective two-nucleon force for the alpha alpha resonating-group method and a new effective Lambda N force for the Lambda alpha interaction. The latter force is a simple two-range Gaussian potential for each spin-singlet and triplet state, generated from the phase-shift behavior of the quark-model hyperon-nucleon interaction, fss2, by using an inversion method based on supersymmetric quantum mechanics. Owing to the exact treatment of the Pauli-forbidden states between the clusters, the present three-cluster Faddeev formalism can describe the mutually related, alpha alpha, 3 alpha and alpha alpha Lambda systems, in terms of a unique set of the baryon-baryon interactions. For the three-range Minnesota force which describes the alpha alpha phase shifts quite accurately, the ground-state and excitation energies of 9Be Lambda are reproduced within 100 - 200 keV accuracy., Comment: 23 pages, one figure, submitted to Phys. The quark-model baryon-baryon interaction fss2, proposed by the Kyoto-Niigata group, is a unified model for the complete baryon octet (B_8=N, Lambda, Sigma and Xi), which is formulated in a framework of the (3q)-(3q) resonating-group method (RGM) using the spin-flavor SU_6 quark-model wave functions and effective meson-exchange potentials at the quark level. Model parameters are determined to reproduce properties of the nucleon-nucleon system and the low-energy cross section data for the hyperon-nucleon scattering. Due to the several improvements including the introduction of vector-meson exchange potentials, fss2 has achieved very accurate description of the NN and YN interactions, comparable to various one-boson exchange potentials. We review the essential features of fss2 and our previous model FSS, and their predictions to few-body systems in confrontation with the available experimental data. Some characteristic features of the B_8 B_8 interactions with the higher strangeness, S=-2, -3, -4, predicted by fss2 are discussed. These quark-model interactions are now applied to realistic calculations of few-body systems in a new three-cluster Faddeev formalism which uses two-cluster RGM kernels.
