The stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) has been classified into fast (<250 ms) and slow (>250 ms) groups based on ground contact time (GCT) threshold values. However, there are gaps in the literature on how the 250 ms threshold value was found and which variables affect it. The purpose of this study is to validate the 250 ms threshold by investigating the factors affecting this threshold. For this purpose, force–time variables during a drop jump (DJ) with a force plate and achilles tendon (AT) muscle-tendon unit mechanical properties using shear-wave elastography in 46 recreationally active men were analysed. A regression tree analysis was conducted using R studio to classify GCT with correlated variables (p < 0.05). The new GCT threshold values (GCT < 188 ms, 188 ≤ GCT < 222 ms and GCT ≥ 222 ms) were found according to the lowest root mean square error of approximation value (0.1985) at reactive strength index. Comparisons of GCT groups showed significant differences in force, time, power variables and AT length (p < 0.05). AT length is the main variable differentiating GCT groups: Short AT results in a short GCT and long AT results in a long GCT. This study reveals that SSC can be classified into three groups using new GCT threshold values, offering a new perspective for SSC assessment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is a priority public health emergency response for women during humanitarian crisis situations as they face the risk of being neglected in health care systems of the country of arrival. This study aimed to investigate Syrian women's utilization of SRH services through Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) approach, who received services from Women Health Counseling Units (WHCU) established as part of a collaborative Project in Türkiye. Methods: Questionnaires were administered face-to-face by Arabic-speaking female interviewers to 413 Syrian women who previously received services from the WHCU. Descriptive statistics were used and Pearson chi-square as well as Exact chi-square tests were conducted to analyse bivariate differences between categorical variables. Results: Child marriages were common among more than half (59%) of the participants. Majority of deliveries took place in the public hospitals (95%) and as attended by a doctor (93%). The percentage of participants using modern contraceptive methods was found to be 39.7% who were more frequently from younger age groups. However, the withdrawal method was relatively more prevalent among older participants. Conclusion: Despite the data being gathered from a limited population of Syrian women in Türkiye, the study offers descriptive, evidence-based insights on improving women's access to high-quality SRH services in line with the MISP approach during humanitarian crisis situations. Introduction: This study aimed to demonstrate the validity of the Ask Suicide-Screening Questions (ASQ) in a clinical sample consisting of adolescents admitted to child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP), and then to confirm its validation in those presenting to the pediatric emergency department (PED), which was the main target group for the study. Method: This cross-sectional study evaluated the compatibility of the ASQ with the suicide probability scale, which is a standardized measure, to identify cases with suicide risk in 248 adolescents aged 10-18 years. To demonstrate the clinical validity of the scale, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), Kappa, and area under the curve (AUC) performance metrics and 95% confidence interval (CI) values were calculated. Results: Positive screening rate, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV for the CAP patients were calculated as 31.8%, 100% (95% CI: 100.0-100.0), 70.9% (95% CI: 63.4-78.4), 12.8% (95% CI: 3.2-22.3) and 100% (95% CI: 100.0-100.0), respectively. The PLR and AUC were calculated as 3.4% (95% CI: 2.7-4.5) and 0.855 (95% CI: 0.817-0.892), respectively. Positive screening rate, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV for the PED patients were calculated as 28%, 100% (95% CI: 100.0-100.0), 75.3% (95% CI: 66.3-84.2), 21.4% (95% CI: 6.2-36.6) and 100% (95% CI: 100.0-100.0), respectively. The PLR, Kappa and AUC were 4.05% (95% CI: 2.82-5.81), 0.278 and 0.876 (95% CI: 0.832-0.921), respectively. Conclusion: This study showed the first evidence that Turkish adaptation of the ASQ is a valid screening tool for identifying those at risk of suicide among adolescents who applied to the CAP and PED. Background: The lung clearance index (LCI) is a sensitive lung function index that is used to detect early lung disease changes in children with cystic fibrosis (CF). This study aimed to define the predictive role of baseline LCI, along with other potential factors on the change in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) during one-year follow-up in CF patients who had a percent predicted (pp) FEV1≥80., Methods: LCI was concurrently performed on 57 CF patients who had ppFEV1 ≥80 at month zero. The ppFEV1 decline was evaluated prospectively during the one year follow up. The primary outcome of ppFEV1 decline in the study group in one year was dichotomized according to the median value for the decline in ppFEV1, which was 3.7. The LCI value predicting ppFEV1 decline at the end of one year was calculated with receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Regression analysis was performed. Furthermore, a decision tree was constructed using classification and regression tree methods to better define the potential effect of confounders on the ppFEV1 decline., Results: The LCI value for predicting ppFEV1 decline >3.7% at the end of one year was 8.2 (area under the curve: 0.80) Multivariable regression analysis showed that the absence of the F508del mutation in at least one allele, LCI >8.2 and initial FEV1 z-score were predictors of a ppFEV1 decline >3.7 (p<0.001). Factors altering ppFEV1 decline>3.7% at the end of one-year evaluated by decision trees were as follows: initial FEV1 z-score, type of CFTR mutation, LCI value and initial weight-for-age z-score., Conclusions: LCI is sensitive for predicting ppFEV1 decline in patients with ppFEV1 ≥80 along with the initial FEV1-z-score and type of CFTR mutation., Competing Interests: The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest.
