The present study discusses a chant theory treatise preserved in the Carthusian compilation manuscript (CZ-Pu I F 17) and based on the Franciscan Hermann Mott’s Musices Choralis Medulla (1670). It sheds new light on the background of the Carthusian arrangement and its connection to the Franciscan original by comparing both versions and trying to discover why the Franciscan treatise was chosen as an exemplar, who the author of the Carthusian treatise was, when and where the Carthusian version was written and used, and finally, through a study of its context and the information given in its manuscript source, how it could be transmitted and what it meant for the Carthusian order.

15. stol. Uničeni so bili v drugi pol.

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of phylum cnidaria as it is being taught in biology classes at primary schools and grammar schools. This work is divided into three parts. The first part deals the position of the topic of phylum cnidaria among curricular documents. It states its classification in the Czech Framework education programme (for Elementary Education) and some chosen School Education Programme. Furthermore, this part analyses the topic as it is written in biology class books, with the clause by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Representatives of phylum cnidaria that are mentioned in biology class books are characterised more thoroughly within the scope of the analysis. The second part of the thesis deals with the teaching methods and forms that are used in teaching biology the most frequently and the questionnaire research that tells us which forms and methods are being used the most by teachers to teach about phylum cnidaria and what specific activities they employ in class. The last part of the thesis consists of suggestions for practical activities for teaching the topic of phylum cnidarian inspired by the results of the survey and a description of educational excursion to the World of Jellyfish aquarium with 6th grade pupils. Objectives: To ascertain the acceptability of a randomised controlled trial comparing arthroscopic lavage with a placebo-surgical procedure for the management of osteoarthritis of the knee; and to assess the practical feasibility of mounting such a multicentre placebo-controlled trial. Design: Mixed methods study including: focus groups with surgeons and anaesthetists; focus groups and interviews with potential participants; interviews with chairpersons of UK Multicentre Research Ethics Committees (MRECs); surveys of surgeons and anaesthetists; and a two-centre, three-arm pilot. Setting: UK secondary care. Participants: Members of the British Association of Surgeons of the Knee and members of the British Society of Orthopaedic Anaesthetists took part in the focus groups and surveys. Surgeons and anaesthetists from two regional centres in the UK also contributed to focus groups, as did patients from consultant lists in two UK regional centres, and members of Arthritis Care. Chairpersons of six UK MRECs were interviewed. Participants were eligible for the pilot if they were adults (18 years or older) with radiological evidence of osteoarthritis of the knee who might be considered for arthroscopic lavage, and were fit for general anaesthetic (defined by the American Society of Anaesthesiologists grades 1 and 2), and able to give informed consent. Interventions: Participants in the pilot study were randomised to arthrosocopic lavage (with or without debridement at the clinical discretion of the surgeon); placebo surgery; or non-operative management with specialist reassessment. Main outcome measures: The acceptability and feasibility of mounting a placebo-controlled trial for the evaluation of knee arthroscopic lavage. Results: There was broad acceptance across all stakeholder groups of the need to find out more about the effectiveness of arthroscopic lavage. Despite this there was variation in opinion within all the groups about how researchers should approach this and whether or not it would be acceptable to investigate using placebo surgery. Within the health professional groups, there tended to be a split between those who were strongly opposed to the inclusion of a placebo surgery arm and those who were more in favour. For prospective trial participants who had osteoarthritis of the knee, the acceptability of the trial was discussed from a more individual perspective – reflecting on their personal reasons for or against participating. The majority of this group said they would consider taking part. The pilot study showed that, in principle, a placebo-controlled trial could be conducted. It showed that patients were willing to participate in a trial which would involve a placebo-surgical arm and that it was possible to undertake placebo surgery successfully and to blind patients to their allocation – although once patients knew their allocation, some patients allocated to surgery became more concerned about the possibility of undergoing placebo surgery, and withdrew. The experience of the pilot, however, showed that, despite full MREC approval, the study required major discussion and negotiation before local clinical approvals could be obtained. The fact that ethics approval had been granted did not mean that clinicians would automatically accept that the process was ethical. Conclusions: The study showed that, in principle, a placebo-controlled trial of arthroscopic lavage could be conducted in the UK, albeit with difficulty. Against the background of falling use of arthroscopic lavage the decision was, therefore, taken not to proceed to full-scale trial for this procedure. The study showed that for some health professionals the use of placebo surgery can never be justified. It highlighted the importance of the surgeon–anaesthetist relationship in this context and how acceptance of the trial design by both parties is essential to successful participation. It also highlighted the importance of informed consent for trial participants and the strength and influence of individuals’ ethical perspectives in addition to collective ethics provided by MRECs. Trial registration: Current Controlled Trials ISRCTN02328576.

- Abstract

COLLECTIVE memory , *CHOIRS (Musical groups) , *FOLK music , *RADIO programs , *RADIO & music ,TURKISH music - Abstract
The first choral band of Turkish folk music that is called "Country's Voice Choir" for many years served as a high school in our country and contributed to institutionalizing of folk music. However, it has not been examined alone and has not been the sole subject of any research so far. Only the historical aspects of the "Country's Voice Choir" are emphasized in various sources but there has not been a study on the function, activities, educational system, performances, cultural services and the criticized aspects of the Choir as well as its effects on the present day. This situation created a need for an independent scientific research of the "Country's Voice Choir". The beginning of the cultural journey of "Country's Voice Choir" as a radio program and continuation of its activities under the structure of the radio made it necessary to consider the institutional history of the Choir and the process of radio broadcasting in our country together. The launch of the radio in Turkey, which is one of the mass communication medium, and the inclusion of folk music programmes in its broadcast have not only accelerated the way folk songs of one region are communicated to the another but also broadened the extent of this communication nationwide. Beginning with the individual samples of the folk singers, or âşıklar and local artists, this process gained acceleration by transforming into an institutional, systematic and scientific framework with the foundation of "Country's Voice Choir". In our country, throughout different periods, the presentation of the folk songs obtained through compilation studies to the listener via radio has contributed to the sustainability of a tradition called "Country's Voice Choir" by means of a common language in our country. In this respect, in this article the institutional history of "Country's Voice Choir" which still maintains its activities will be addressed and a multi-faceted analysis of the Choir will be carried out. In the beginning of the masters thesis there's a description of the fourteenth century Italian secular music. Right after comes the analysis of the secular composition „Cominciamento di gioia“ for a better understanding of its characteristics that will help to make an arrangement of better quality. Then comes the analysis of my arranged composition, describing the instruments that are used and some characteristic parts. A description of the baroque era, as a musically-stylish period comes next, as well as the choral „Dies sind die heil'gen zehn Gebot“. After that comes a description of J. S. Bach from whom i extracted ideas for my arrangement. At the very end there's an analysis of my arranged choral melody, as well as the instrumentation and characteristic parts.

Masteroppgave i utøvende musikk 2006 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand Motivisk symbolikk i Bach’s tonespråk er emnet for min mastergradsoppgave. Emnet sorterer under fordypningsområdet Interpretasjonsstudier i mastergradsstudiet i utøvende musikk, ved Høgskolen i Agder, 2006. Oppgaven består av 81 sider og inneholder bl.a. noteeksempler og en CD innspilling av to preludier og to fuger av J.S. Bach.
