8. Yielding capacity of pyrogenic communities in Central Kazakhstan

Fires in the ecosystems of Central Kazakhstan trigger a pyrogenic succession for 1-2 decades as usual. In recent years, changes of climate and land use in region have led to the intensification of fires and the gradual steppification of the territory, where desert vegetation was previously successfully restored. We analyzed the change in aboveground phytomass stocks during 40 years of pyrogenic succession. In the zonal communities, the phytomass reaches the background values in eight years after the fire and does not change later. For intrazonal communities in river valleys and gullies, aboveground phytomass stocks at the 4th and 16th years of succession do not differ significantly, and the structure of phytomass fractions by the 16th year resembles background zonal communities. This can be associated with a more intense grazing on the intrazonal communities in river valleys and gullies in the studied region.

12. Changes in immunological parameters when using a combined physiotherapy method in complex treatment of atopic dermatitis in children

- Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in immunological parameters in children with atopic dermatitis when using hydrotherapy, non-selective chromotherapy, and intravenous laser irradiation of blood against the background of basic drug therapy. Materials and methods. The work was performed with the participation of 164 patients with moderate lichenoid and erythematous-squamous forms of atopic dermatitis aged 4 to 15 years with a frequency of exacerbations from 3 to 4 times a year with a tendency to increase their duration. The patients were divided into 5 groups: the first group received basic drug therapy (BDT), the second - hydrotherapy and BDT, the third - non-selective chromotherapy and BDT, the fourth - low-intensity laser irradiation of blood and BDT, the fifth - hydrotherapy, non-selective chromotherapy, low-intensity laser irradiation of blood and BDT. The content of total IgE, IL-4, IL-10, IL-13, IL-18 and TNF-α in the blood serum of patients was determined by enzyme immunoassay before treatment, as well as 1 and 3 months after its start. Results. Before the start of treatment, the values of all the studied indicators in comparison with healthy individuals were significantly increased (by 2.1-3.1 times). In patients of the first and second groups, the level of IgE and cytokines did not change significantly after 1 and 3 months from the start of treatment in comparison with the indicators before the start of treatment. In the third group, after 1 month from the start of treatment, the group experienced a significant (by 11-20%) decrease in IgE and cytokine levels, which persisted after 3 months of follow-up. In the fourth group, the decrease in the studied indicators after 1 month was even more significant and did not change significantly. The greatest decrease in indicators after 1 and 3 months was observed in the fifth group of patients (by 40-62%) who received basic drug therapy in combination with hydrotherapy, non-selective chromotherapy and intravenous laser irradiation of blood. Conclusion. In children with moderate atopic dermatitis, drug-based basic treatment combined with non-selective chromotherapy and intravenous laser irradiation of blood contributes to the effective correction of immunological reactivity for a long period of time.

The impact of coal mining in Kuzbass on the ecosystem of the region is studied in the article. Large-scale mining operations have led to land disturbance over large areas. The coal industry development program, which provides for a significant increase in production, will further aggravate the identified problem. There are a lot of reclamation mechanisms, they must be implemented comprehensively, be high-tech. Large-scale disturbance of land resources, and land retirement, its pollution and littering are the most significant problems requiring a primary solution. The mechanism of state and regional legal regulation of disturbed land reclamation is proposed. Improving the quality of reclamation will be facilitated by the development of a strategy for the environmental remediation, which would be included into the Concept for reclamation of disturbed lands.

The article reviews the issues of environmental and economic efficiency of the comprehensive technology of removing sulphur and nitrogen oxides and mercury from flue gases. The purpose of the study is to justify the choice of the methods for the analysis of environmental and economic effectiveness of the designed air protection activities and to perform a number of calculations. The article analyses main processing methods for reducing the concentration of sulfur and nitrogen oxides in the flue gases from the combustion of coal fuels, thus generating maximum ecological and economic benefits. The main result of the work is development of the adapted system of technical, environmental and economic indicators characterizing the high efficiency of the proposed technical solutions. The results of the study can be recommended to heating enterprises in support of effective environment-friendly management decisions justifying implementation of appropriate flue gas cleaning technologies.

- Abstract
Dust particles emitted from high latitudes (> 50 °N and > 40 °S, including Arctic as a subregion > 60 °N), have a potentially large local, regional, and global significance to climate and environment as short-lived climate forcers, air pollutants and nutrient sources. To understand the multiple impacts of the High Latitude Dust (HLD) on the Earth systems, it is foremost to identify the geographic locations and characteristics of local dust sources. Here, we identify, describe, and quantify the Source Intensity (SI) values using the Global Sand and Dust Storms Source Base Map (G-SDS-SBM), for sixty-four HLD sources included in our collection in the Northern (Alaska, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard, Sweden, and Russia) and Southern (Antarctica and Patagonia) high latitudes. Activity from most of these HLD dust sources show seasonal character. The environmental and climatic effects of dust on clouds and climatic feedbacks, atmospheric chemistry, marine environment, and cryosphere-atmosphere feedbacks at high latitudes are discussed, and regional-scale modelling of dust atmospheric transport from potential Arctic dust sources is demonstrated. It is estimated that high latitude land area with higher (SI>0.5), very high (SI>0.7) and the highest potential (SI>0.9) for dust emission cover >1 670 000 km
2 ,>560 000 km2 , and >240 000 km2 , respectively. In the Arctic HLD region, land area with SI>0.5 is 5.5 % (1 035 059 km2 ), area with SI>0.7 is 2.3 % (440 804 km2 ), and with SI>0.9 it is 1.1 % (208 701 km2 ). Minimum SI values in the north HLD region are about three orders of magnitude smaller, indicating that the dust sources of this region are highly dependable on weather conditions. In the south HLD region, soil surface conditions are favourable for dust emission during the whole year. Climate change can cause decrease of snow cover duration, retrieval of glaciers, permafrost thaw, and increase of drought and heat waves intensity and frequency, which all lead to the increasing frequency of topsoil conditions favourable for dust emission and thereby increasing probability for dust storms. Our study provides a step forward to improve the representation of HLD in models and to monitor, quantify and assess the environmental and climate significance of HLD in the future.
