Abstract The thermal Hall effect recently provided intriguing probes to the ground state of exotic quantum matters. These observations of transverse thermal Hall signals lead to the debate on the fermionic versus bosonic origins of these phenomena. The recent report of quantum oscillations (QOs) in Kitaev spin liquid points to a possible resolution. The Landau level quantization would most likely capture only the fermionic thermal transport effect. However, the QOs in the thermal Hall effect are generally hard to detect. In this work, we report the observation of a large oscillatory thermal Hall effect of correlated Kagome metals. We detect a 180-degree phase change of the oscillation and demonstrate the phase flip as an essential feature for QOs in the thermal transport properties. More importantly, the QOs in the thermal Hall channel are more profound than those in the electrical Hall channel, which strongly violates the Wiedemann–Franz (WF) law for QOs. This result presents the oscillatory thermal Hall effect as a powerful probe to the correlated quantum materials.

Abstract In the recently discovered kagome metal CsV3Sb5, an intriguing proposal invoking a doped Chern insulator state suggests the presence of small Chern Fermi pockets hosting spontaneous orbital-currents and large orbital magnetic moments. While the net thermodynamic magnetization is nearly insensitive to these moments, due to their antiferromagnetic alignment, their presence can be revealed by the Zeeman effect, which shifts electron energies in magnetic fields with a proportionality given by the effective g−factor. Here, we determine the g-factor using the spin-zero effect in magnetic quantum oscillations. A large g-factor enhancement is visible only in magnetic breakdown orbits between conventional and concentrated Berry curvature Fermi pockets that host large orbital moments. Such Berry-curvature-generated large orbital moments are almost always concealed by other effects. In this system, however, magnetic breakdown orbits due to the proximity to a conventional Fermi-surface section allow them to be visibly manifested in magnetic quantum oscillations. Our results provide a remarkable example of the interplay between electronic correlations and more conventional electronic bands in quantum materials.

In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional autonomous drone exploration system (ADES) with a lightweight and low-latency saliency prediction model to explore unknown environments. Several studies have applied saliency prediction in drone exploration. However, these studies are not sufficiently mature. For example, the computational complexity and the size of the developed prediction models have not been considered. In addition, some studies have only proposed saliency prediction models without actually applying them to drones. The ADES system proposed in this paper has a small and fast saliency prediction model and uses a novel drone exploration approach based on visual-inertial odometry to solve the practical problems encountered during drone exploration, such as collisions with and the repeated exploration of salient objects. The proposed ADES system performs comparably to the state-of-the-art, multiple-discontinuous-image saliency prediction network TA-MSNet and enables drones to explore unknown environments with high efficiency.

Aim: Unilateral vertebral artery hypoplasia is considered a risk factor for posterior circulation infarction. Despite the increasing attention on unilateral vertebral artery hypoplasia, few studies have discussed bilateral vertebral artery hypoplasia, its influence on stroke, or its collateral supply from the circle of Willis. We aimed to identify its characteristics, stroke pattern, and unique ultrasonographic and brain imaging findings.Materials and Methods: Of the 1,301 consecutive in-patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke from January 2013 to December 2015, medical and laboratory data and stroke or transient ischemic attack history were recorded. We enrolled patients who underwent both brain magnetic resonance imaging and sonography examinations. Vertebral artery and posterior cerebral artery analyses were conducted in accordance with clinical criteria.Results: Adequate imaging data were available for 467 patients. Of these, eight patients met the criteria for bilateral vertebral artery hypoplasia. The mean age was 62.9 ± 12.1 years. There were six male (75.0%) and two female patients (25.0%). A high prevalence of hypertension (7/8, 87.5%) was noted.Sonograms displayed a very low net flow volume in the vertebral arteries, with the average net flow volume being 28.9 ± 9.7 mL/min. A high frequency (6/8; 75.0%) of the fetal variant posterior cerebral artery from the carotids was found. The infarction patterns in these patients were all bilateral, scattered, and in multiple vascular territories.Conclusion: Patients with bilateral vertebral hypoplasia displayed a unique collateral supply, special stroke pattern, and younger stroke onset. Early recognition and stroke prevention should be considered critical in clinical practice.

In correlated electronic systems, strong interactions and the interplay between different degrees of freedom may give rise to anomalous charge-transport properties, which can be tuned by external parameters like temperature and magnetic field. Recently, magnetic quantum oscillations and metallic low-temperature thermal conductivity have been observed in the Kondo insulator YbB_{12}, whose resistivity is a few orders of magnitude higher than those of conventional metals. As yet, these unusual observations are not fully understood. Here we present a detailed investigation of the behavior of YbB_{12} under intense magnetic fields using both transport and torque magnetometry measurements. The Hall resistivity displays a strongly nonlinear field dependence which cannot be described using a standard two-band Drude model. Near ultraviolet (λ ≈ 400 nm) femtosecond laser annealing (400 nm-FLA) in a scanning mode was employed to crystallize amorphous silicon (a-Si) films at room temperature. The average grain size of polycrystalline silicon annealed was studied as a function of the incident laser fluence and beam overlap or the number of laser shots irradiated. In general, the grain size can be enlarged by either increasing the beam overlap at a fixed laser fluence or increasing the laser fluence for a fixed number of laser shots. An apparent threshold for the onset of rapid enlargement of grain size was observed for processing at ∼90% overlap and fluences above 25 mJ/cm2. A maximum grain size of ∼280 nm was attained at a laser fluence of 30 mJ/cm2 and overlap of 93.75%, beyond which the grain size attained was smaller, and eventually, ablation was observed at an overlap of 97.5% and higher. These trends and observed surface morphology of annealed samples suggest that the crystallization mechanism is like sequential lateral solidification, similar to 800 nm-FLA and excimer laser annealing. Raman spectroscopic studies show that the degree of crystallization achieved with 400 nm-FLA is even higher than that of 800 nm-FLA. Cross-sectional scanning electron microscopic images indicate that the 100 nm-thick a-Si film is not fully crystallized. This can be explained by the much shorter penetration depth of 400 nm light than that of 800 nm light in a-Si.

(1) Background: Nutritional intake is fundamental to human growth and health, and the intake of different types of nutrients and micronutrients can affect health. The content of the diet affects the occurrence of disease, with the incidence of many diseases increasing each year while the age group at which they occur is gradually decreasing. (2) Methods: An artificial intelligence model for precision nutritional analysis allows the user to enter the name and serving size of a dish to assess a total of 24 nutrients. A total of two AI models, including semantic and nutritional analysis models, were integrated into the Precision Nutritional Analysis. A total of five different algorithms were used to identify the most similar recipes and to determine differences in text using cosine similarity. (3) Results: This study developed two models to form a precision nutrient analysis model. The 2013–2016 Taiwan National Nutrition Health Status Change Survey (NNHS) was used for model verification. The model’s accuracy was determined by comparing the results of the model with the NNHS. The results show that the AI model has very little error and can significantly improve the efficiency of the analysis. (4) Conclusions: This study proposed an Intelligence Precision Nutrient Analysis Model based on a digital data collection framework, where the nutrient intake was analyzed by entering dietary recall data. The AI model can be used as a reference for nutrition surveys and personal nutrition analysis.

Subacute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (SIDP) is an acquired immune-mediated peripheral polyneuropathy with clinical course between 4 weeks and 8 weeks. Rare childhood cases with SIDP had been described in the current literature. We report the first case of childhood SIDP in Taiwan with thorough clinical studies. All of the clinical presentations, laboratory data, electrophysiological studies, and image tools were compatible with childhood SIDP. Benign neurological recovery without relapse was correlated with electrophysiological evidence of demyelination predominantly.
