The number of cases using of forbidden dyes (such as Sudan-I and Para Red) in European foodstuff (including foodstuff from Russia) were increased last time. In this case it was required to adapt existing analytical methods for the control of dyes Sudan I-IV and Para Red. It was used for this purpose high performance liquid chromatography with detectings on diode-array and MS detector. Sudan I and Para Red were detected in 3 foodstuffs from examined 49 products. Concentration levels of these dyes were varied from 3 up to 500 mg/kg. Limits of determination of the methods is: HPLC-diode-array--0.1 mg/kg and HPLC-MS--0.5 mg/kg.

Modified maize starches having differences in the number of crosscut lacings in the structure, and in the abilities to be gelatinized in the cold water were used: native maize starch "Novation 4600", acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 20", acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 40", acetylated adipat di-starch of the hot swelling "Clearam CH 2020". All investigated starches possessed the ability to activate neutrophils and to increase their phagocytosis 2 h after i.p. administration. Four days after i.p. injection, starches and their hydrolyzet starch products were shown to stimulate the neutrophils and lymphocytes into peritoneal cavity. Starch digest products have the more stimulated capacities compared with native compounds that indicates the possible immune activity of starch carbohydrate chain fragments.

Aim of work was to compare the chemical and biological properties of starches modified by adipinic acid acetylation. Starches in question were: native maize starch "Novation 4600"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 20"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 40"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the hot swelling "Clearam CH 2020". The differences between starches were connected with number of cross-cut lacings in the structure, and with abilities to be gelatinized in the cold water. Rate of hydrolysis and water-retaining capacities were higher for cold swelling starches which contained the smaller number of resistance fractions. Acetyl value of cold swelling starches was higher under elevation of cross-cut lacing.

A comparative analysis of the impact of cell therapy (allogenic fetal liver cells, stem cells of autologic bone marrow) on lipid homeostasis, microcirculatory disturbances and structural changes in some organs was made using the atherosclerosis model in guinea-pigs. A positive effect of cell therapy on these parameters was established. The effect was stronger and prolonged after transplantation of stem cells. Atherogenic diet weakens the effect of cell therapy. Thus, cell therapy is more effective in restriction of atherogenic risk factors.

Experiments on C57B1/6 mice and Wistar rats have demonstrated that neuropeptide vasopressin inhibits activity of antigen-specific suppressors and potentiates development of adjuvant arthritis. Vasopressin involvement in pathogenesis of autoimmunity is discussed.

The influence of normo- (38 degrees C), hyper- (42 degrees C) and hypothermia (20 degrees C) on microcirculatory disturbances caused by acute local ischemia of the small intestine was investigated with the help of biomicroscopy as well as morphological methods. Ischemia was modeled by ligation of the intestine look eventrated through the abdominal wall incision of a rat onto the microscope stage for 1 h. It was shown that hyperthermia intensified microcirculatory disorders and stimulated destructive processes in tissues and hypothermia promoting microcirculation and decreasing metabolism and restrained the development of these processes. Important peculiarity of the microvascular response to ischemia, hyper- and hypothermia was revealed: heterogeneity of the reaction of different parts of microvascular bed. Appropriate evaluation of the microcirculation state in such conditions can be obtained taking into account not only the qualitative character of microvascular reaction but also an extent of this reaction manifestation in different parts of microvascular bed.

Experiments on the intraperitoneal infection of F1 (CBA X C57BL/6) mice with bacteroids of the group Fragilis in combination with E. coli have revealed the presence of a synergic effect leading to more pronounced (greater frequency of abscess formation) and even qualitatively new (necrotic lesions of the liver) pathological changes in comparison with those observed in monoinfections. Bacteroides fragilis strain 1/1087 gamma has been shown to have greater virulence than that of Bacteroides vulgaris strain 18; their virulence was determined from the capacity of microorganisms for survival in the abdominal cavity of mice, as well as from their capacity for inducing the formation of necrotic lesions and abscesses.

Complex immunological, pathologicoanatomic and histopathological examination of intact rabbits revealed a correlation between the appearance of complement fixation antibodies and delayed hypersensitivity to tissue antigens on the one hand and the development of spontaneous pathology of the corresponding organs on the other. Meningoencephalitis was diagnosed in all sick animals by means of immunological tests. Tests for antibodies and delayed hypersensitivity to tissue antigens revealed intracapillary glomerulonephritis, coccidiosis of the liver, and pneumonia. The authors recommend conduction of immunological tests for detecting latent spontaneous pathology in laboratory animals.
