Introduction: Coordination and team work between periodontists and orthodontists plays vital role to boost clinical outcomes of mutual therapies concerning interdisciplinary. Furthermore, imprints on orthodontic therapy by reduction in usual treatment time and resisting anchorage loss Methods: Teamwork of orthodontia and periodontia specialties can create imprints to improve periodontal health as a result of orthodontic treatment. However, equal and reciprocal important that maintenance of periodontal health boosts orthodontic treatment success. Hence, it clears that, interdisciplinary approaches of periodontology and orthodontia plays major role in existing treatment alternatives like periodontal accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO). Results: PAOO technique may defined as modified decortication with bone grafting augmentations to facilitate faster orthodontic treatment outcome than conventional approaches with least trauma to root and underlying and associate structures. This technique utilizes natural bone remodeling process i.e.( transient nature of demineralization-remineralisation process in healthy tissues). Implications of PAOO technique in healthy hard and soft (bone and periodontium) tissue leads to supplementary advantages like reduced orthodontic treatment time, increased bone volume and postorthodontic stability. Background: The success of orthodontic treatment depends on the time at which treatment is planned, which further depends on parameters like skeletal maturation. Materials and Methods: The study sample included 110 boys and 110 girls of Lingayat community, aged 11-13 years. For all the subjects, left hand and wrist radiographs, chronological age, height, weight, and date of onset of menarche nine for girls were recorded. Results: Both Lingayat boys and girls showed advanced skeletal age (SA) than chronological age and were found to mature earlier than the standard British and the Australian (Melbourne) population. Lingayat girls had a mean of 4 months advanced SA than the Lingayat boys. Conclusion: Our study can act as standard indicator for assessing skeletal maturity on which timing of orthodontic treatment can be planned. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Five lines and four testers were crossed in a line x tester fashion resulting in twenty hybrids. Among the twenty hybrids, the two best hybrids viz., VRMGG 1 x VBN 1 and VRMGG Local x PMB 27 were selected and subjected to generation mean analysis. Among the characters studied, the parents VBN 1 and VRMGG 1 were found to be good general combiners for seed yield plant-1 and its all its related characters. Among the crosses, VRMMG 1 x VBN 1 and EC 30072 x VBN 1 exhibited the highest per se performance, hence they were selected for this study. The significance of 'C' & 'M', m, d, h, i and 1 components demonstrated the importance of both additive and dominance effects for traits among the crosses. However, the value of H was greater than D for grain yield plant-1, number of pods plant-1, seed protein content and leaf area index for both the crosses depicting the preponderance of dominance effects in their genetic control. Hence, the selection followed by hybridization in early generations was a suitable breeding method for progress in these traits. Conversely, greater value of D over H demonstrated additive nature of genes for number of branches plant-1, number of clusters plant-1, nitrate reductase activity, photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance which advocated the utilization of pedigree for improvement of these parameters. Background: The orthodontist seeks an archwire–bracket combination that has both good biocompatibility and low friction. Hence, the aim of this multicenter in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the frictional resistance generated between titanium (Ti), stainless steel (SS), ceramic and ceramic with metal insert (CMI) brackets with SS wires of varying dimensions in a specially designed apparatus. Materials and Methods: The material used in this study were Ti, SS, Ceramic and CMI with 0.018" slot manufactured with zero degree tip and −7° torque premolar brackets (3M, Unitek) and SS wires of varying dimensions (0.016" round, 0.016 × 0.016" square, 0.016 × 0.022" rectangular and 0.017 × 0.025" rectangular) used. The frictional resistance was measured using Instron Universal testing machine (Model no. 4301). The specimen population in each center composed each of 160 brackets and wires. Differences among the all bracket/wire combinations were tested using (one way) ANOVA, followed by the student Newman Keuls multiple comparisons of means ranking (at P < 0.05) for the determination of differences among the groups. Results: Ti bracket in combination with 0.017 × 0.025" SS rectangular wire produced significant force levels for an optimum orthodontic movement with least frictional resistance.Conclusion: Ti brackets have least resistance and rectangular wires produced significant force. These can be used to avoid hazards of Nickel. SS brackets revealed higher static frictional force values as the wire dimension increased and showed lower static friction than Ti brackets for all wires except the thicker wire. Our study recommends the preclusion of brackets with rough surface texture (Ti brackets) with SS ligature wire for ligating bracket and archwire are better to reduce friction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
