Background: Every day 67,385 babies are born in India, that’s around one- sixth of the world’s childbirths. Every minute one of these new-borns dies, with an annual birth rate of 25 million which accounts for nearly one-fifth of the world’s annual childbirth. Objectives: 1. To find out the proportion of unintended pregnancy among women of reproductive age group attending ANC Clinic of AIIMS Patna USING LUMP SCALE. 2. To determine the Factors contributing to unintended pregnancy. Methodology: This was a hospital based cross-sectional study done for 6months (March 2022 to September 2022) conducted in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology OPD, AIIMS Patna and included all the pregnant ladies who visited the ANC clinic. Consecutive sampling was done and a sample size of 237 was taken rounding off to 250 with 5% absolute precision, 95% confidence and 10% non-response rate. A predesigned, semi-structured questionnaire was used and the information collected was downloaded from Epicollect5/Google forms in an MS Excel sheet and analysis was done using the IBM SPSS version20. Results: Out of 255 participants who were more than 20 years of age 31% (79) participants had unplanned pregnancies compared to 50% (17) out of 34 participants whose age was less than 20. This association was statistically significant with a p-value of 0.027. Out of 289 participants attending the ANC clinic, 32.87% (95) participants had a history of abortion among which only 23.2% (22) participants had an unplanned pregnancy. This association was statistically significant with a p-value of 0.011. Conclusion: In our study we found the prevalence of unintended pregnancy to be 33.2% which is comparable with 33% prevalence of unintended pregnancy in African continent study.

Background: Despite their constraints and failure to adhere to evaluation criteria, conventional written assessment methods are still widely and often used in many medical colleges. The partiality and inclination of the topic setter are apparent. This results in the overrepresentation of certain themes while leaving many others neglected. Every examiner possesses their own bias and tends to construct questions according to their specific areas of expertise. The distribution and arrangement of the questions are still ambiguous for learners. Several authors have suggested comprehensive evaluation frameworks for different levels of cognitive domains. Objective: This study sought to create a theory-based summative evaluation blueprint by involving experts from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. Methodology: Twenty-five experts from 10 All India Institutes of Medical Science were invited via email and contributed for summative assessment for a theory paper. Each week, the study lead team sent an online form containing 25 topics. A total of 269 topics were selected to be included in the blueprint development. An Impact and Frequency score was obtained for each topic, with a score between 1 and 3 for both its “Impact (I)” and “Frequency” (F). Results: The overall response rate was 71%. “Principle of epidemiology” (14.7%) had the most weight, followed by “Epidemiology of communicable disease” (13.4%) and “National Health Program” (10%). These three chapters constituted more than one-third of the total weight of the summative assessment (theory). 20 out of 24 (83%) chapters have moderate-to-good interrater reliability. Conclusion: The proposed blueprint will serve as a reference for setting the question paper and will impart objectivity, uniformity, and validity to the construction of the written assessment tool.

ABSTRACT: Background and Objective: Diabetic-range hyperglycemia has been reported for the first time in many patients during their hospitalization with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study was undertaken to determine the proportion of such patients who actually have new-onset diabetes mellitus rather than transient hyperglycemia during acute illness. Methods: This descriptive study included patients with diabetic-range hyperglycemia first detected at or during admission for COVID-19 but no prior history of diabetes. The study protocol involved patient identification, data recording from the case-notes, and telephonic follow-ups. Blood sugar levels done at least two weeks after discharge or the last dose of steroids, whichever was later, were recorded, and patients were categorized as diabetic, pre-diabetic, or non-diabetic accordingly Results: Out of 86 patients, ten (11.6%) were found to have developed diabetes, and 13 (15.1%) had pre-diabetes on follow-up. About 63 (73.3%) patients had become normoglycemic. Eight (80%) out of the ten patients with new-onset diabetes were on treatment, with five (50%) achieving the target glycemic levels. The associations of new-onset diabetes with age, gender, comorbidities, intensive care stay, and steroid administration were not found to be statistically significant (p -values 0.809, 0.435, 0.324, 0.402, and 0.289, respectively). Interpretation and Conclusions: While a majority of post-COVID patients with diabetic-range hyperglycemia returned to a normoglycemic state after the acute illness had settled down, one in ten developed new-onset diabetes, and an additional one in seven had impaired glucose tolerance. Thus, regular glucose screening is crucial for such patients and lifestyle modifications should be encouraged to reduce the risk of diabetes. Aim: The aim of the study was to compare the fracture resistance and push-out bond strength of glass fiber post (GFP) with composite core and single unit post and core system luted with two different resin cements. Methods: Sixty-four mandibular premolars were chosen as the sample for the study. Sample preparation was done, and specimens were randomly divided into two groups (n = 32) each according to the type of post used: Group I – RelyX GFP, Group II – Edelweiss post and core. They were further subdivided in two subgroups based on luting cements: subgroup A: RelyX U200 Adhesive Resin cement and subgroup B: SoloCem resin cement. Fracture resistance was measured in half of the prepared specimens by subjecting a load of 1 mm/min. The load was subjected along the long axis of the tooth at an angle of 45° until failure occurred using the universal testing machine. Half of the samples were divided into three horizontal thirds, i.e., coronal, middle, and apical, and push-out bond strength was evaluated at a rate of 0.5 mm/min. The scores were subjected to statistical analysis using independent t-test and SPSS Version 22.0. Results: Group I showed nonsignificantly better fracture resistance than Group II irrespective of type of luting agent used. Subgroup B showed nonsignificantly higher fracture resistance than subgroup A irrespective of the post used. Subgroup B was nonsignificant better push-out bond strength than Subgroup A (P < 0.05). Push-out bond strength of Group II was significantly better than Group I irrespective of the luting agent. Conclusion: Fiber post showed nonsignificantly better fracture resistance than Edelweiss post and core system. SoloCem showed nonsignificantly better fracture resistance and push-out bond strength with Edelweiss than RelyX U200. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objective: Surgical residents face many challenges and stressors during their training. Some residents can cope better with such difficult situations, whereas others experience burnout and anxiety. Emotional intelligence (EI) and resilience are personality traits that may be associated with a better response to adverse situations. Methodology: A cross-sectional analytical study using validated questionnaires the Schutte Self-report EI Test (SSEIT) and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-25) was conducted to assess EI and resilience among the participants. Data were collected through the hard copies of the questionnaires, compiled using Microsoft Excel and analyzed using SPSS version 26. P < 0.5 was considered significant. The scores of EI and resilience were compared to evaluate the relationship between them. Results: A correlation analysis was performed between EI and resilience by comparing the scores obtained from SSEIT and CD-RISC. Our analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between EI and resilience (r = 0.59, P < 0.0001). Conclusion: Based on our results, we can say that EI and resilience are positively correlated. Globally, musculoskeletal lumbopelvic pain (LPP) predominates among women. This high predominance of LPP is attributed to the complex interaction of biomechanical, psychological, and social factors among women. The deleterious effect of LPP has increased the likelihood of LPP-care seeking among women. The need for care seeking is influenced by a person's perception, beliefs, and attitude toward pain; which in turn, is framed by his/her culture and community. Thus, this qualitative research aimed to seek insights into LPP-care seeking behaviors among women from Indian cultural background. Semi-structured interviews were administered among 18 women living in urban as well as semi-urban areas of North India. Analysis of interview scripts lead to generation of three themes: LPP-care seeking behavior, non-adherence to LPP rehabilitation and barriers to LPP rehabilitation. LPP-care seeking behavior was influenced by unawareness about physiotherapy (PT), self-help practices and beliefs about LPP. We also found that lack or incomplete knowledge incite false assumptions, resulted in non-adherence in LPP rehabilitation. In addition, unsupportive family, lack of time, and difficulty in memorizing LPP exercises were the cultural, work, and old age-related barriers to LPP-care seeking, respectively. Purpose: This feasibility study examined the aggression management training (AMT) interventions on self‐esteem, impulsivity, and aggressive behavior among adolescents residing in delinquent or observation homes. Methods: A quantitative research approach with the quasi‐experimental nonequivalent control group (comparison) pretest and Posttest design was adopted. A total of 32 male adolescents (16 each in experimental and comparison groups) residing in two different observation homes in the state of Bihar, India were selected by convenience sampling technique. The study evaluated the following outcome measures: self‐esteem, impulsivity, and aggressive behavior for both groups at baseline and 1 month. AMT was administered to the experimental group bi‐weekly for 4 weeks covering four components in 8 sessions. Results: We analysed the data with independent and paired t‐tests for between and within the group differences, and Pearson correlation for a relationship. AMT intervention improved self‐esteem and reduced aggressive behavior and impulsivity among adolescents residing in delinquent homes. A correlation was found between aggression and impulsivity, and between self‐esteem and impulsivity. Psychiatric nursing Implications: The study had provided initial evidence for practice that can help psychiatric nurses significantly implement these types of interventions among significant, vulnerable, and ignored groups of adolescents detained in observation homes to prevent the occurrence of repeat offenses.
