Background. Individuals with mild intellectual disability (ID) often encounter challenges in physical functioning, impacting their overall well-being and quality of life. Traditional exercise programs may not always be accessible or effective for this population due to various barriers. Adapted yoga programs have emerged as a promising alternative, offering tailored interventions to address the unique needs of individuals with ID. Objectives. The study aimed to close this gap by examining the effect of a structured, modified yoga programme on factors related to physical functioning. Materials and methods. A total of 40 students with mild ID, aged between 11 and 15 years, were selected from Special Schools in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The participants were divided into an experimental group undergoing an 8-week adapted yoga program and a control group maintaining regular activities. Physical function parameters were assessed using standardized tests measuring cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, and balance. The adapted yoga program, conducted by qualified instructors, comprised 8 weeks of sessions, 5 days a week, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes. Statistical analyses confirmed the normal distribution of data and employed paired sample t-tests to assess pre- and post-test differences, with SPSS version 20.0 used for analysis, setting the significance level at 0.05. Results. After undergoing 8 weeks of adapted yoga training, the results showed a significant improvement in the upper body strength (P < 0.04), lower body strength (P < 0.001), core strength (P < 0.002), flexibility (P < 0.00), and static balance (P < 0.00). However, there was no significant difference in body fat and cardiorespiratory endurance between adapted yoga training. Conclusions. This study highlights the potential of adapted yoga programs as an intervention for improving physical functioning in students with mild ID. These findings indicate that the implementation of adapted yoga can be a valuable and accessible intervention for enhancing physical functioning in this population.

This field study explores construction workers’ perceptions of using a passive shoulder exoskeleton to better understand how to improve its adoption in construction. We provided forty-one construction workers with an exoskeleton to perform their regular work activities for two days. Workers’ feedback of the tool was collected at the end of each day. Two-thirds indicated they would likely or very likely use an exoskeleton if their employer provided it. Participants felt exoskeletons were helpful for specific overhead tasks, such as installing upper tracks, framing and drywalling bulkheads, taping and mudding ceilings, and installing light fixtures. To improve their adoption within the construction industry, exoskeletons should be designed to be compatible with harnesses and toolbelts, be close-fitting to allow working in tight spaces, be easily adjustable (for fit and level of support), be rugged and easy to clean, and should not encumber workers in performing their tasks.

Recently, biofuels with higher alcohol content have become a promising alternative to diesel fuel. These fuels are appealing because they are sustainable, renewable, and possess attractive fuel properties. This study uses a split injection strategy to analyze the performance and emissions of a CRDI diesel engine fueled by 1-heptanol. The work involved testing different fuel blends, ranging from 10 % to 30 %, while maintaining a constant engine speed of 1500 rpm and varying the operating load between 0 kg and 12 kg in 4 kg increments. During the second stage, the CRITIC-TOPSIS method determines the objective weights and rankings of various criteria and alternatives. A Python approach based on machine learning was used to ensure the CRITIC-TOPSIS results were accurate. Seven criteria were evaluated to maximize BTE while minimizing BSFC, NOx, smoke opacity, HC, CO, and CO2. The experimental results showed a slight drop of 2.98 % in BTE and an increase of about 13.33 % in BSFC. NOx and smoke opacity were reduced by 7.13%–4.53 %, while there was a 12.12 % increase in HC, 6.45 % higher CO, and a 5.5 % increase in CO2 at full load. Adding 1-heptanol to diesel and using a split injection strategy significantly reduced NOx and smoke opacity. The final ranking and best blend are determined using CRITIC-TOPSIS and Python algorithms to estimate performance and emissions criteria. At a load of 4 kg, D100 ranks first with a relative closeness value of 0.642, while at a pack of 8 kg, the blend HP20D80 ranks first with a relative closeness value of 0.633. According to the rankings, the HP20D80 blend is the best option for achieving optimal performance and reduced emissions in CRDI diesel engines. A research paper has presented a unique approach to multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) validated using a Python algorithm. This method can assist decision-makers in making better-informed choices when faced with MCDM problems that involve various criteria and alternatives.

The study aims to understand the hydrochemical characteristics and groundwater suitability for agricultural and drinking purposes. For this purpose, 21 groundwater samples were collected, and major physicochemical parameters such as pH, EC, TDS, temp, salinity, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3−, Cl−, and SO42− were analyzed, followed by the standard analytical procedures. Different groundwater quality graphical representations were constructed by using Aqua Chem software. The results indicate groundwater samples were alkaline with fresh to moderate saline in nature, sixty-eight percent of the samples were suitable for drinking in accordance with WHO, and thirty-two percent of the samples were unsuitable due to the excess amount of different ionic concentrations derived from natural and various anthropogenic sources. Irrigation water quality parameters such as SAR, EC, PI, Na %, RSBC, MR, and KR were used to understand the irrigation suitability. The US salinity diagram exemplifies that most groundwater samples fall in the C3S1 category with high salinity hazard and low alkali hazard. The Wilcox plot reveals that 80% of the samples were found under very good to permissible limits, and few samples fall with doubtful to unsuitable quality due to the excess amount of alkali and salinity. Permeability index values show that groundwater is suitable for irrigation. Three major hydrochemical facies were identified with the dominance order of mixed CaMgCl, NaCl, and CaCl. Gibb’s plot suggests that evaporation and rock-water interaction are the dominant natural mechanisms controlling the groundwater chemistry in the present study area.

Background: Awareness in semi-urban school population about harmful effects of tobacco use. Hence, the objectives of the present research protocol are to evaluate the incidence of tobacco usage amongst school children and educators, to evaluate the knowledge of students and teachers regarding the harmful effects of tobacco, to educate students and teachers regarding the deleterious effects of tobacco and to evaluate the success of the intervention. Material and Methods: This study will be conducted at a semi-urban school located in the Wardha district. A cluster of students and teachers will be selected and will be given a pre-test to assess their knowledge regarding tobacco. The questionnaire will also help in evaluating the total number of participants consuming tobacco. Teachers will be given intervention when the data from the pre-test has been analysed. They will be educated regarding tobacco and its effects on oral health with the use of PowerPoint presentations, posters and models. Activities such as skits, role plays and discussions will be performed. Teachers will be asked to educate the students regarding the same. After the students are educated, they will be given a post-test to evaluate their understanding after the teachers have educated them. Tobacco users will be motivated to complete the cessation of tobacco. A questionnaire comprises 20 questions that are taken from National Tobacco Control Programme (NTPC) guidelines. Expected Results: The proposed study represents a major step towards tobacco cessation amongst semi-urban school population. Overall, the study includes evaluating the knowledge of participants, educating them regarding the harmful effects of tobacco and motivating the participants who are tobacco chewers to complete stoppage of habit. The study will develop a valid and reliable change and would contribute in the development of good oral health. This research will provide in the Indian context, evidence that will underpin better selection in semi-urban schools of the Wardha district. Conclusion: The proposed study represents a major step towards tobacco cessation amongst semi-urban school population. The study will develop a valid and reliable change and would contribute in the development of good oral health.

BACKGROUND: The role of spirituality in people’s lives, particularly the lives of health professionals, as well as its impact on mental health issues like anger and aggressiveness and resilience, are particularly significant. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the link between the propensity for violence and personal resilience in dental students by taking into account the function of spirituality as a mediator. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this cross-sectional questionnaire survey, 211 volunteer dentistry students participated from a government institute in Jammu and Kashmir, India using a stratified sample procedure. The Spiritual Orientation Scale, Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire, and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale were used to gather the data. SPSS version 20.0 was used for conducting a bivariate analysis to ascertain the directionality connection between the research variables. In addition; structural equation modelling analysis was conducted by Smart PLS. RESULTS: According to the findings, resilience and spirituality have a substantial and positive link (r = 0.468 r = 0.023). Aggressiveness and resilience revealed a statistically significant inverse link (r = 0.325, P = 0.04), but aggression and spirituality had no significant correlation. Spirituality played a substantial mediation influence in the indirect pathway of violence on resilience (P = 0.001). CONCLUSION: According to the study’s findings, spirituality can help pupils become more resilient as individuals and can act as a helpful intermediary between aggressiveness and resilience.

DPP-4 includes membrane-bound peptidases and is a kind of enzyme that cleaves alanine or proline-containing peptides such as incretins, chemokines, and appetite-suppressing hormones (neuropeptide) at their N-terminal dipeptides. DPP-4 plays a role in the final breakdown of peptides produced by other endo and exo-peptidases from nutritious proteins and their absorption in these tissues. DPP-4 enzyme activity has different modes of action on glucose metabolism, hunger regulation, gastrointestinal motility, immune system function, inflammation, and pain regulation. According to the literature survey, as DPP-4 levels increase in individuals with liver conditions, up-regulation of hepatic DPP-4 expression is likely to be the cause of glucose intolerance or insulin resistance. This review majorly focuses on the cleavage of alanine or proline-containing peptides such as incretins by the DPP-4 and its resulting conditions like glucose intolerance and cause of DPP-4 level elevation due to some liver conditions. Thus, we have discussed the various effects of DPP-4 on the liver diseases like hepatitis C, non-alcoholic fatty liver, hepatic regeneration and stem cell, hepatocellular carcinoma, and the impact of elevated DPP-4 levels in association with liver diseases as a cause of glucose intolerance and their treatment drug of choices. Utilisation of tobacco is one of the most serious problems affecting human health worldwide, despite the fact that the early fatality caused by tobacco use are growing, regardless of the fact that it is avoidable tobacco consumption is very common, considerable resources have been allocated to this issue. On tobacco prevention, a range of strategies have been tested but the ratio of death due to tobacco and number of tobacco consumers is increasing day by day. Various impediments to tobacco quitting have been recognized, all of which contribute to the failure of various tobacco cessation programs and methodologies. Individuals in the India have attempted or considered quitting smoking at some point in their lives but ended in failure. Existing tobacco cessation programs have not out-turned in a decrease in the figure of tobacco users or deaths, necessitating a new strategy. Tobacco cessation on prescription, developed from physical activity on prescription (PAP), can be a useful method in terms of public health. But yet no studies have ever been conducted over this. Further studies on this can explore results of tobacco quitting after prescription from general physician or other medical practitioner, evaluative beliefs about tobacco consumption and barriers in quitting even after prescription. Hence the present review was done with explore the outcomes for cessation of tobacco based upon utilization of tobacco cessation by prescription (TCP) methodology in Indian scenario. This review paper focuses on TCP as a need for newer approach pertaining to Indian perspective. Future study should look at whether raising the rate of stop attempts are improving the tobacco cessation rate in the general population after the implementation of TCP.

Smoking is still a major public health issue that causes morbidity and mortality all over the world. The percentage of deaths caused by tobacco smoking has escalated from 1.4% in 1990 to 13.3% by 2020. There are numerous evidence-based tobacco control strategies available, and newer ones are always being developed. However, on ceasing the habit, cigarettes users go through a period of withdrawal with an increased percentage of relapse before entering to a more stable condition of sobriety in the long run. In this review, Endnote software was used as resource material to collect literature, which was then carefully arranged in a synchronised way. The Markov model captures the dynamic character of the quitting/relapse process, allowing for more accurate figures of abstinence rate, treatment outcomes and evaluating the performance of newer cessation initiatives during tobacco cessation counselling, as well as suggesting pathways for survivability.

Corona virus infection (COVID-19) is increasing exponentially globally. It is also affecting pregnant women among others. Complications arising during pregnancy because of COVID-19 must be considered a health issue. The objective of the study was to analyse symptoms of pregnant women affected with COVID-19 based on the available literature. The articles were searched from Medline/PubMed, Scopus which were published till June 2020 and reviewed for the determined outcomes. The review demonstrated that common symptoms were fever, cough, nausea and myalgia. Vertical transmission of Corona virus infection was not found in any of the articles reviewed. Multicenter studies are important to better understand the pathogenesis and treatment planning for COVID-19 affected pregnant women.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 has spread rapidly worldwide infecting ≥4 million people including ≥2.9 million deaths and overwhelming health-care systems globally. It has prompted governments to open field medical facilities to decongest hospitals and triage patients. Governments are preparing for a stage 3 surge in cases leading to a situation of “severe shortage” of mechanical ventilators due to an overwhelming number of cases. Health authorities are looking into measures for mass production of ventilators with locally available materials. However, when deploying these devices on patients, it is imperative to ascertain if they are safe and do not perpetuate a vicious circle of worsening lung injury and death. The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency have brought out guidelines that emergency ventilators manufactured for the current epidemic need to satisfy.

Background: Dengue is the most rapidly spreading mosquito borne viral disease in the world with increasing geographical expansion to new countries and from urban to rural settings due to combination of urbanisation, population growth, increased international travel and trade and global warming. The epidemiology of dengue fever in India has been very complex with a seasonal pattern. The first outbreak in Odisha was in 2010 and is now spreading to different districts of the state. Materials and Methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study was carried out between 2017 to 2018 in the dengue ward of a teaching hospital in Berhampur, Ganjam district of Odisha. Results: The prevalence of admitted dengue patients was 4.32%. Majority of the patients were males (81.9%) and ≥15 years old (91.7%). About 68.5% were from rural areas and belonged to low socio-economic status (53.2%). Cases were reported mostly in peri-monsoon periods and 65.7% of them came directly to the hospital. Conclusion: The study highlights the need to curb the rural spread of the disease through activities in creating awareness among all section of people to promote control measures and early reporting of all fever cases, capacity building of rural doctors for early detection, treatment and early referral of high-risk patients and availability of ELISA based tests in sub-district hospitals along with Rapid Diagnostic Kits (RDKs). Emphasis for preventive and control measures to be increased during peri-monsoon periods and also to be instituted in offices, educational institutes and other indoor activity areas.

Background: For recognizing the initial stages of breast cancer, mammography is regarded as one of the best modalities and plays a crucial part to lessen morbidity and mortality. For collaborative studies and planning of preventive strategies, it is significant to have baseline data. Thus, in this survey, the frequency distribution of breast imaging reporting and data system (BIRADS) classification and breast consistencies was investigated during the mammographic screening program in the Gwalior region, India. Material and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional survey was conducted in the Gwalior region, India, in which 1,838 patients were screened with the aid of mammography. The mammography films were evaluated by a single radiologist who determined the BIRADS score, breast composition, and any other abnormal findings. After tabulating the data into MS Excel (MS Office version 2007 developed by Microsoft, Redmond, WA), descriptive analysis and Chi-square test were performed to determine the association between the BIRADS score and breast consistency and setting significance level at (below) 0.05. Results: The most commonly found BIRADS score was score 1 (53.4%), followed by score 2 (20.4%), and score 5 was of the least frequency (1.3%). Similarly, the most common consistency found was fatty (48.2%) and the least common was heterogeneously dense (3.97%). The most BIRADS category of 0 was seen in heterogeneously dense (n = 22; 26%) followed by dense breast compositions (n = 18; 25%). The most common consistency found with known breast malignancy (BIRADS 6) patients was the extremely dense breast (n = 11; 40.7%). Conclusion: In this study, it was observed that about 57.3% of all the cases were categorized as BIRADS 1 and 20.8% as BIRADS 2.

Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility (MHS) and the associated condition malignant hyperthermia (MH) are rare but well-known disorders in the field of anesthesiology. MHS is usually determined by a history of a family member developing a positive episode during general anesthesia and then confirmed by an invasive caffeine halothane contracture test (CHCT). More recently, within the context of MH as a pharmacogenetic disorder, the question of whether or not MHS can be principally genetically determined is of high importance as knowledge of detailed pathogenesis may prevent against its largely invariable lethality if untreated. Thus, in this brief report, genetic terms, as well as updates in the genetics of MHS, will be reviewed in order to better understand both the condition and the current research.

This study focuses on the convergence of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) with technology, emphasising advancements in water purification, sanitation infrastructure, and interventions targeting behaviour change. This study investigates the impact of recent improvements in data analytics, remote sensing, and smart infrastructure on the monitoring and management of water resources. These technological developments have the potential to significantly improve efficiency and enable prompt response during times of crisis. Also, the initiative known as “Flowing Futures” places significant emphasis on the importance of community-led strategies, acknowledging that the establishment of sustainable solutions is contingent upon local empowerment and active participation. This study examines many case studies from different geographical areas, demonstrating the significant effects of participatory programmes that enable communities to assume responsibility for their water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. These initiatives also promote a sense of stewardship towards the environment.

Electric vehicle (EV) wireless charging using radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a novel technology that enables the charging of electric vehicles without the need for wires or cables. The technology utilizes RFID tags that are installed on the EV, which communicate with the charging pad through electromagnetic fields. The charging process is initiated when the RFID reader detects the presence of the EV with the installed RFID tag, and the charging pad is activated. The power transfer is then enabled between the charging pad and the EV, allowing for the charging process to begin. RFID-based wireless charging technology offers numerous benefits over traditional wired charging systems. For instance, it eliminates the need for physical connectors, thereby reducing the wear and tear of components and increasing the convenience of charging. Moreover, the technology is more efficient, with minimal energy losses, and reduces the risk of electrical hazards. It also minimizes the impact of weather conditions and road debris on the charging process, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor charging application. In conclusion, EV wireless charging using RFID is a promising technology that can potentially revolutionize the EV charging industry. It offers numerous benefits, including increased convenience, efficiency, and safety, and has the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of transportation.

Hand gesture mouse control for systems has received a lot of attention in recent years Because of its many uses and capability to efficiently connect with machines via human- computer interaction, hand gesture mouse control for systems has attracted a lot of attention in recent years. Most visual hand motion detection systems can only be used in specific settings due to the effects of lighting and complicated backgrounds. Together with the quick advancement of computer vision and machine learning, the need for human- machine interaction is also rising. Despite the complicated history, the suggested methodology provides a straightforward but efficient way to perform rapid manual tracking. In addition to hand tracking and gesture detection, this system also eliminates motion blur. The detected gesture is transformed into particular functional inputs, such clicking and mouse movement, to control other programmes. The project's voice assistant feature is one of its additional features. The voice assistants can be instructed verbally or by text. Voice-based intelligent assistants need an activating word, sometimes referred to as a wake word, before the command may be given.

A smart lock is an electromechanical lock that allows entry based on the authorization device that gives it instructions to lock and unlock. This system is proved to be inefficient as well These locks are either based on Pin, Bluetooth, WIFI. We propose a smart locking system that unlocks based upon face recognition that pic up specific, distinctive details about a person’s face. This is a powerful library that can run even by taking up a single picture of the person provided that the facial features are distinctly identified. The model is proven to be reaching accuracy levels of 99.7% according to the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The database is stored on the cloud consisting of all the authorized personnel that can pass through the door. The client holds the power of customizing the entry and exit of an individual through an application on his mobile.

Machine translation (MT) from English to foreign languages is a fast developing area of research, and various techniques of translation are discussed in the literature. However, translation from English to Malayalam, a Dravidian language, is still in the rising stage, and works in this field have not flourished to a great extent, so far. The main reason of this shortcoming is the non-availability of linguistic resources and translation tools in the Malayalam language. A parallel corpus with alignment is one of such resources that are essential for a machine translator system. This paper focuses on a technique that enables automatic setting up of a verb-aligned parallel corpus by exploring the internal structure of the English and Malayalam language, which in turn facilitates the task of machine translation from English to Malayalam.

The present study involved the utilization of crushed glass as an auxiliary additive in the manufacture of cement stabilized fly ash (CSF) bricks. The bricks were made with 1:1 proportion of fly ash and sand stabilized with 20 % cement. Crushed glass was used as replacement for the fine aggregate in increments of 10 % up to 40 % wherein the sand was completely replaced with crushed glass. The various mix proportions were then moulded into bricks with the addition of water by hand moulding method of forming the bricks and sun dried followed by sprinkle curing over a period of 21 days. The bricks were then subjected to compressive strength, water absorption and efflorescence tests to gauge its performance. The investigation revealed that the addition of crushed glass to the brick mix resulted in an increase in strength of the bricks, however, the maximum strength achieved could not achieve the strength of the control specimen. But the strength was higher than the minimum strength recommended by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for stabilized blocks as well as burnt bricks. It also reduced the water absorption marginally while no efflorescence was seen in any of the combinations. A cost comparison revealed that the optimal combination with crushed glass was able reduce the cost of the brick by 20 %.

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is the leading global cause of disability and is associated with intervertebral disc degeneration (DD) in some individuals. However, many adults have DD without LBP. Understanding why DD is painful in some and not others may unmask novel therapies for chronic LBP. The objectives of this study were to a) identify factors in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) associated with chronic LBP and b) examine their therapeutic utility in a proof-of-concept pre-clinical study. Methods: Pain-free human subjects without DD, pain-free human subjects with DD, and patients with chronic LBP linked to DD were recruited and lumbar MRIs, pain and disability levels were obtained. CSF was collected and analyzed by multiplex cytokine assay. Interleukin-8 (IL-8) expression was confirmed by ELISA in CSF and in intervertebral discs.The SPARC-null mouse model of progressive, age-dependent DD and chronic LBP was used for pre-clinical validation. Male SPARC-null and control mice received systemic Reparixin, a CXCR1/2 (receptors for IL-8 and murine analogues) inhibitor, for 8 weeks. Behavioral signs of axial discomfort and radiating pain were assessed. Following completion of the study, discs were excised and cultured, and conditioned media was evaluated with a protein array. Findings: IL-8 was elevated in CSF of chronic LBP patients with DD compared to pain-free subjects with or without DD. Chronic inhibition with reparixin alleviated low back pain behaviors and attenuated disc inflammation in SPARC-null mice. Interpretation: These studies suggest that the IL-8 signaling pathway is a viable therapy for chronic LBP. Fund: Supported by NIH, MMF, CIHR and FRQS.
