During the process of bilateral teleoperation, operators not only need to perform complex maintenance tasks but also have to constantly monitor the safety of the operation, leading to reduced operational efficiency. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce a shared autonomous scheme that intervenes in the operator's command input when necessary, autonomously ensuring the safe operation of the manipulator by employing a rolling horizon planning controller based on Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC). This controller considers the motion boundaries and collision avoidance constraints of the manipulator, accompanied by the design of corresponding objective functions. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct tests on collision-free trajectory tracking and comprehensive performance with collision constraints, confirming the feasibility and excellent performance of the approach.

Abstract NMDA receptor-dependent long-term depression (LTD) in the hippocampus is a well-known form of synaptic plasticity that has been linked to different cognitive functions. Although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, this form of LTD cannot be induced by low-frequency stimulation (LFS) in adult mice. In this study, we found that LFS-induced LTD was not easily induced in adult animals and was age dependent. Interestingly, the level of the 5-HT1A receptor was correspondingly increased and exhibited an inverse correlation with the magnitude of LFS-LTD during development. Knockout or pharmacological inhibition of the 5-HT1A receptor reversed impaired LFS-LTD in adult mice (P60), while activation or inhibition of this receptor disturbed or enhanced LFS-LTD in adolescent mice (P21), respectively. Furthermore, the astrocytic 5-HT1A receptor in the hippocampus predominantly mediated age-dependent LFS-LTD through enhancing GABAergic neurotransmission. Finally, fear memory extinction differed among the above conditions. These observations enrich our knowledge of LTD at the cellular level and suggest a therapeutic approach for LTD-related psychiatric disorders.

Enhancing photosynthetic efficiency is a major goal for improving crop yields under agricultural field conditions and is associated with chloroplast biosynthesis and development. In this study, we demonstrate that Golden2-like 1a (BnGLK1a) plays an important role in regulating chloroplast development and photosynthetic efficiency. Overexpressing BnGLK1a resulted in significant increases in chlorophyll content, the number of thylakoid membrane layers and photosynthetic efficiency in Brassica napus, while knocking down BnGLK1a transcript levels through RNA interference (RNAi) had the opposite effects. A yeast two-hybrid screen revealed that BnGLK1a interacts with the abscisic acid receptor PYRABACTIN RESISTANCE 1-LIKE 1–2 (BnPYL1–2) and CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 9 SIGNALOSOME 5A subunit (BnCSN5A), which play essential roles in regulating chloroplast development and photosynthesis. Consistent with this, BnGLK1a-RNAi lines of B. napus display hypersensitivity to the abscisic acid (ABA) response. Importantly, overexpression of BnGLK1a resulted in a 10% increase in thousand-seed weight, whereas seeds from BnGLK1a-RNAi lines were 16% lighter than wild type. We propose that BnGLK1a could be a potential target in breeding for improving rapeseed productivity. Our results not only provide insights into the mechanisms of BnGLK1a function, but also offer a potential approach for improving the productivity of Brassica species.

Abstract Rapeseed (Brassica napus) is one of the important oil crops worldwide. Its production is often threatened by drought stress. Here, we identify a transcription factor (BnaA9.NF-YA7) that negatively regulates drought tolerance through genome-wide association study in B. napus. The presence of two SNPs within a CCAAT cis element leads to downregulation of BnaA9.NF-YA7 expression. In addition, the M63I (G-to-C) substitution in the transactivation domain can activate low level expression of BnaA4.DOR, which is an inhibitory factor of ABA-induced stomatal closure. Furthermore, we determine that Bna.ABF3/4 s directly regulate the expression of BnaA9.NF-YA7, and BnaA9.NF-YA7 indirectly suppresses the expression of Bna.ABF3/4 s by regulation of Bna.ASHH4s. Our findings uncover that BnaA9.NF-YA7 serves as a supplementary role for ABA signal balance under drought stress conditions, and provide a potential molecular target to breed drought-tolerant B. napus cultivars.

Abstract Almost all Glioblastoma (GBM) are either intrinsically resistant to the chemotherapeutical drug temozolomide (TMZ) or acquire therapy-induced mutations that cause chemoresistance and recurrence. The genome maintenance mechanisms responsible for GBM chemoresistance and hypermutation are unknown. We show that the E3 ubiquitin ligase RAD18 (a proximal regulator of TLS) is activated in a Mismatch repair (MMR)-dependent manner in TMZ-treated GBM cells, promoting post-replicative gap-filling and survival. An unbiased CRISPR screen provides an aerial map of RAD18-interacting DNA damage response (DDR) pathways deployed by GBM to tolerate TMZ genotoxicity. Analysis of mutation signatures from TMZ-treated GBM reveals a role for RAD18 in error-free bypass of O6mG (the most toxic TMZ-induced lesion), and error-prone bypass of other TMZ-induced lesions. Our analyses of recurrent GBM patient samples establishes a correlation between low RAD18 expression and hypermutation. Taken together we define molecular underpinnings for the hallmark tumorigenic phenotypes of TMZ-treated GBM.

Abstract Dysfunctional Ca2+ signaling affects the myocardial systole and diastole, may trigger arrhythmia and cause transcriptomic and proteomic modifications in heart failure. Thus, synchronous real-time measurement of Ca2+ and force is essential to investigate the relationship between contractility and Ca2+ signaling and the alteration of excitation-contraction coupling (ECC) in human failing myocardium. Here, we present a method for synchronized acquisition of intracellular Ca2+ and contraction force in long-term cultivated slices of human failing myocardium. Synchronous time series of contraction force and intracellular Ca2+ were used to calculate force-calcium loops and to analyze the dynamic alterations of ECC in response to various pacing frequencies, post-pause potentiation, high mechanical preload and pharmacological interventions in human failing myocardium. We provide an approach to simultaneously and repeatedly investigate alterations of contractility and Ca2+ signals in long-term cultured myocardium, which will allow detecting the effects of electrophysiological or pharmacological interventions on human myocardial ECC.

PurposeThe retrospective study reviewed the clinical and radiological outcomes of patients treated with radiocapitellar joint plasty.Methods10 children with missed Monteggia fracture (MMF) were reviewed. The average time from injury to operation was 20 months. The average age of children who underwent the operation was 10.5 years. 6 flat and 4 domed radial heads were included. 7 type I and 3 type III MMF were identified based on the Bado classification. All children with MMF were treated by open radial head reduction with radiocapitellar joint plasty and ulnar osteotomy (UO).ResultsThe average union time was 4.9 ± 2.6 months. The average osteotomy angle to reduce the radial head was 15.7 ± 3.5°, and the average lengthening of the ulna was 8.2 ± 3.2 mm. The average preoperative flexion range of motion was 110.5 ± 9.1°, and the postoperative flexion range of motion was 138.8 ± 15.1° (p 0.05). Abstract Glial cell-mediated neuroinflammation and neuronal attrition are highly correlated with cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease. YKL-40 is a secreted astrocytic glycoprotein that serves as a diagnostic biomarker of Alzheimer’s disease. High levels of YKL-40 are associated with either advanced Alzheimer’s disease or the normal aging process. However, the functional role of YKL-40 in Alzheimer’s disease development has not been firmly established. In a 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease, we observed increased YKL-40 expression in the cerebrospinal fluid of 7-month-old mice and was correlated with activated astrocytes. In primary astrocytes, Aβ1-42 upregulated YKL-40 in a dose-dependent manner and was correlated with PI3-K signaling pathway activation. Furthermore, primary neurons treated with YKL-40 and/or Aβ1-42 resulted in significant synaptic degeneration, reduced dendritic complexity, and impaired electrical parameters. More importantly, astrocyte-specific knockout of YKL-40 over a period of 7 days in symptomatic 5xFAD mice could effectively reduce amyloid plaque deposition in multiple brain regions. This was also associated with attenuated glial activation, reduced neuronal attrition, and restored memory function. These biological phenotypes could be explained by enhanced uptake of Aβ1-42 peptides, increased rate of Aβ1-42 degradation and acidification of lysosomal compartment in YKL-40 knockout astrocytes. Our results provide new insights into the role of YKL-40 in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and demonstrate the potential of targeting this soluble biomarker to alleviate cognitive defects in symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease patients.

α-Linolenic acid (ALA, 18:3Δ9,12,15) is an essential fatty acid for humans since it is the precursor for the biosynthesis of omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA). Modern people generally suffer from deficiency of ALA because most staple food oils are low or lack ALA content. Biotechnological enrichment of ALA in staple oil crops is a promising strategy. Chia (Salvia hispanica) has the highest ALA content in its seed oil among known oil crops. In this study, the FAD2 and FAD3 genes from chia were engineered into a staple oil crop, oilseed rape (Brassica napus), via Agrobaterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of their LP4-2A fusion gene construct driven by the seed-specific promoter PNapA. In seeds of T0, T1, and T2 lines, the average ALA contents were 20.86, 23.54, and 24.92%, respectively, which were 2.21, 2.68, and 3.03 folds of the non-transformed controls (9.42, 8.78, and 8.22%), respectively. The highest seed ALA levels of T0, T1, and T2 plants were 38.41, 35.98, and 39.19% respectively, which were 4.10–4.77 folds of the respective controls. FA-pathway enzyme genes (BnACCD, BnFATA, BnSAD, BnSCD, BnDGAT1, BnDGAT2, and BnDGAT3) and positive regulatory genes (BnWRI1, BnLEC1, BnL1L, BnLEC2, BnABI3, BnbZIP67, and BnMYB96) were all significantly up-regulated. In contrast, BnTT1, BnTT2, BnTT8, BnTT16, BnTTG1, and BnTTG2, encoding negative oil accumulation regulators but positive secondary metabolism regulators, were all significantly down-regulated. This means the foreign ShFAD2-ShFAD3 fusion gene, directly and indirectly, remodeled both positive and negative loci of the whole FA-related network in transgenic B. napus seeds.

Photocatalysis technology, as an efficient and safe environmentally friendly purification technique, has garnered significant attention and interest. Traditional TiO2 photocatalytic materials still face limitations in practical applications, hindering their widespread adoption. The research prepared TiO2/Cu films with different Cu contents using a magnetron sputtering multi-target co-deposition technique. The incorporation of Cu significantly enhances the antibacterial properties and visible light response of the films. The effects of different Cu contents on the microstructure, surface morphology, wettability, antibacterial properties, and visible light response of the films were investigated using an X-ray diffractometer, X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, field emission scanning electron microscope, confocal laser scanning microscope, Ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer, and contact angle goniometer. The results showed that the prepared TiO2/Cu films were mainly composed of the rutile TiO2 phase and face-center cubic Cu phase. The introduction of Cu affected the crystal orientation of TiO2 and refined the grain size of the films. With the increase in Cu content, the surface roughness of the films first decreased and then increased. The water contact angle of the films first increased and then decreased, and the film exhibited optimal hydrophobicity when the Cu target power was 10 W. The TiO2/Cu films showed good antibacterial properties against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The introduction of Cu shifted the absorption edge of the films to the red region, significantly narrowed the band gap width to 2.5 eV, and broadened the light response range of the films to the visible light region.

To enhance the performance of micro-hemispherical gyroscopes, achieving low-damage and high-surface-quality trimming is essential. This enables greater stability and reliability for the gyroscopes. Current methods for reducing frequency split often come with drawbacks such as high cost, adverse effects on the Q-factor, or surface damage. In this paper, a chemical etching trimming method is proposed to reduce frequency split in micro-hemispherical resonators. This method allows for trimming with minimal damage, while also being cost-effective and easy to implement. The theoretical basis of this method was analyzed, followed by a simulation to determine the optimal trimming range and location on the resonator. The simulated Q-factor analysis before and after trimming preliminarily validated the method’s low-damage characteristics. Ultimately, the frequency split of the resonator was reduced to below 1 Hz. Additionally, test results of the Q-factor and surface quality before and after trimming further confirmed that chemical etching offers effective low-damage trimming capabilities. The proposed method holds significant potential for improving the performance of micro-hemispherical resonator gyroscopes.

The study measured the levels of azoxystrobin (AZ) and thiabendazole (TBZ) in wallboards and metabolite levels of these fungicides in children. The paper covering of wallboard samples contained a higher concentration of AZ and TBZ than the gypsum core, and similar amounts (w/w) of these two fungicides were present in the samples. These data suggest that commercial products containing a 1:1 (w/w) amount of AZ and TBZ, such as Sporgard® WB or Azo Tech™, were applied to the wallboard paper. This is the first detection of TBZ in mold-and-mildew resistant wallboards. The TBZ metabolite, 5OH-TBZ, was detected in 48% of urine samples collected from children aged 40–84 months, and was co-detected with AZ-acid, a common AZ metabolite, in 37.5% of the urine samples. The detection frequency of 5OH-TBZ was positively associated with the detection frequency of AZ-acid. These findings suggest that certain types of wallboards used in homes and commercial buildings may be a potential source of co-exposure to AZ and TBZ in humans.

Abstract Yellow-seed trait is a desirable breeding characteristic of rapeseed (Brassica napus) that could greatly improve seed oil yield and quality. However, the underlying mechanisms controlling this phenotype in B. napus plants are difficult to discern because of their complexity. Here, we assemble high-quality genomes of yellow-seeded (GH06) and black-seeded (ZY821). Combining in-depth fine mapping of a quantitative trait locus (QTL) for seed color with other omics data reveal BnA09MYB47a, encoding an R2R3-MYB-type transcription factor, as the causal gene of a major QTL controlling the yellow-seed trait. Functional studies show that sequence variation of BnA09MYB47a underlies the functional divergence between the yellow- and black-seeded B. napus. The black-seed allele BnA09MYB47aZY821, but not the yellow-seed allele BnA09MYB47aGH06, promotes flavonoid biosynthesis by directly activating the expression of BnTT18. Our discovery suggests a possible approach to breeding B. napus for improved commercial value and facilitates flavonoid biosynthesis studies in Brassica crops.

To explore the application efficacy and significance of deep learning in anesthesia management for gastrointestinal tumors (GITs) surgery, 80 elderly patients with GITs who underwent surgical intervention at our institution between January and September 2021 were enrolled. According to the preoperative anesthesia management methodology, patients were rolled into a control (Ctrl) group (using 10 mg dexamethasone 1-2 hours before surgery) and an experimental (Exp) group (using a deep learning-based anesthesia monitoring system on the basis of the Ctrl group), with 40 cases in each group. A comprehensive comparative analysis was performed between the two cohorts, encompassing postoperative cognitive evaluations, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scores, gastrointestinal functionality, serum biomarkers (including interleukin (IL)-6, C-reactive protein (CRP), and cortisol levels), length of hospitalization, incidence of complications, and other pertinent metrics. The findings demonstrated that anesthesia monitoring facilitated by deep learning algorithms effectively assessed the anesthesia state of patients. Abstract Background and objective Neuro‐ophthalmologic symptoms and retinal changes have been increasingly observed following thalamic stroke, and there is mounting evidence indicating distinct alterations occurring in the vision‐related functional network. However, the intrinsic correlations between these changes are not yet fully understood. Our objective was to explore the altered patterns of functional network connectivity and retina parameters, and their correlations with visual performance in patients with thalamic stroke. Methods We utilized resting‐state functional MRI to obtain multi‐modular functional connectivity (FC), and optical coherence tomography‐angiography to measure various retina parameters, such as the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer (GCIPL), superficial vascular complex (SVC), and deep vascular complex. Visual acuity (VA) was used as a metric for visual performance. Results We included 46 patients with first‐ever unilateral thalamic stroke (mean age 59.74 ± 10.02 years, 33 males). ABSTRACT Microsporidia are obligate intracellular single-cell eukaryotic parasites that can infect almost all kinds of animals and cause microsporidiosis. However, there are a few achievements of microsporidiosis treatments. Nosema bombycis could cause a microsporidiosis condition, pébrine, in the silkworm. Treatment and prevention of pébrine are still the research hotspots in sericulture. In this study, N. bombycis was treated with K2CO3, the spore walls were removed by centrifugation, and then, the alkali-soluble germination proteins were used as antigens to develop monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Three mAbs were successfully screened and one mAb named G9 showed the highest titer among these monoclonal antibodies after enzyme-linked-immunosorbent serologic assay (ELISA). Mass spectrometry analysis confirmed that the mAb G9 could recognize the N. bombycis spore wall protein 1. Furthermore, the heavy chain and light chain sequences of the G9 monoclonal antibody were cloned, respectively. The vectors that expressing the intact antibodies and the single-chain variable fragments (scFvs) of G9 were constructed, and then, these vectors were used to develop the transgenic silkworm cell lines or transgenic silkworms. The inhibitory effects against N. bombycis were evaluated by the count of microsporidia and qPCR. The scFvs showed better effect on blocking the proliferation of N. bombycis than the intact antibody, and the scFv without the secretory signal peptide was more effective than that with signal peptide. Our study has provided novel strategies for microsporidiosis control and the essential groundwork for the future development of N. bombycis-resistant transgenic silkworms. IMPORTANCE There are a few reports on the resistance of microsporidia, including Nosema bombycis. Here, the alkali-soluble germination proteins of N. bombycis were used as immunogens to prepare a monoclonal antibody, and its single-chain variable fragments effectively blocked microsporidia infection. Our study has provided novel strategies for microsporidiosis control and demonstrated a useful method for the potential treatment of other microsporidia diseases.

Abstract Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) was built to demonstrate high-power, long-pulse operations under fusion-relevant conditions, with major radius R = 1.9 m, minor radius a = 0.5 m, and design pulse length up to 1000s. It has an ITER-like D-shaped cross-section with two symmetric divertors at the top and bottom, accommodating both single null and double null divertor configurations. EAST construction was started in 2000, and its first plasma was successfully obtained in 2006. In the past 15 years, plasma-facing components, plasma heating, diagnostics, and other systems have been upgraded step by step to meet its mission on exploring of the scientific and technological bases for fusion reactors and studying the physics and engineering technology issues with long pulse steady-state operation. An advanced steady-state plasma operation scenario has been developed, and plasma parameters were greatly improved. Meanwhile, front physics on the magnetic confinement plasmas have been systemically investigated and lots of fruitful results were realized, covering transport and confinement, MHD stabilities, pedestal physics, divertor and scrap-off layer (SOL) physics, and energetic particle physics. This brief review of EAST on engineering upgrading, stand-steady operation scenario development, and plasma physics investigation would be useful for the reference on construction and operation of a superconducting tokamak, such as ITER and future fusion reactor.

Yellow seed trait is a desirable characteristic with potential for increasing seed quality and commercial value in rapeseed, and anthocyanin and proanthocyanidins (PAs) are major seed-coat pigments. Few transcription factors involved in the regulation of anthocyanin and PAs biosynthesis have been characterized in rapeseed. In this study, we identified a transcription factor gene BnbHLH92a (BnaA06T0441000ZS) in rapeseed. Overexpressing BnbHLH92a both in Arabidopsis and in rapeseed reduced levels of anthocyanin and PAs. Correspondingly, the expression profiles of anthocyanin and PA biosynthesis genes (TT3, BAN, TT8, TT18, and TTG1) were shown by quantitative real-time PCR to be inhibited in BnbHLH92a-overexpressing Arabidopsis seeds, indicating that BnbHLH92a represses the anthocyanin and PA biosynthesis pathway in Arabidopsis. BnbHLH92a physically interacts with the BnTTG1 protein and represses the biosynthesis of anthocyanins and PAs in rapeseed. BnbHLH92a also binds directly to the BnTT18 promoter and represses its expression. These results suggest that BnbHLH92a is a novel upstream regulator of flavonoid biosynthesis in B. napus.

Rapeseed (Brassica napus) is an oil crop grown worldwide, making it a key plant species in molecular breeding research. However, the complexity of its polyploid genome increases sequencing costs and reduces sequencing accuracy. Target capture coupled with high-throughput sequencing is an efficient approach for detecting genetic variation at genomic regions or loci of interest. In this study, 588 resequenced accessions of rapeseed were used to develop a target capture sequencing SNP genotyping platform named BnaPan50T. The platform comprised 54,765, with 54,058 resequenced markers from the pan-genome, and 855 variant trait-associated markers for 12 agronomic traits. The capture quality of BnaPan50T was demonstrated well in 12 typical accessions. Compared with a conventional genotyping array, BnaPan50T has a high SNP density and a high proportion of SNPs in unique physical positions and in annotated functional genes, promising wide application. Target capture sequencing and whole-genome resequencing in 90 doubled-haploid lines yielded 60% specificity, 78% uniformity within tenfold coverage range, and 93% genotyping accuracy for the platform. BnaPan50T was used to construct a genetic map for quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, identify 21 unique QTL, and predict several candidate genes for yield-related traits in multiple environments. A set of 132 core SNP loci was selected from BnaPan50T to construct DNA fingerprints and germplasm identification resources. This study provides genomics resources to support target capture sequencing, genetic analysis and genomic breeding of rapeseed.

Both the number of cells and the collective genome of the gut microbiota outnumber their mammalian hosts, and the metabolic and physiological interactions of the gut microbiota with the host have not yet been fully characterized. Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death, and more research into the critical events that can lead to cancer and the importance of the gut microbiota remains to be determined. The gut microbiota can release microbial molecules that simulate host endogenous processes, such as inflammatory responses, or can alter host metabolism of ingested substances. Both of these reactions can be beneficial or deleterious to the host, and some can be genotoxic, thus contributing to cancer progression. This review focused on the molecular evidence currently available on the mechanistic understanding of how the gut microbiota are involved in human carcinogenesis. We first reviewed the key events of carcinogenesis, especially how DNA damage proceeds to tumor formulation. Then, the current knowledge on host DNA damage attributed to the gut microbiota was summarized, followed by the genotoxic endogenous processes the gut microbiota can induce. Finally, we touched base on the association between specific gut microbiota dysbiosis and different types of cancer and concluded with the up-to-date knowledge as well as future research direction for advancing our understanding of the relationship between the gut microbiota and cancer development.

Abstract Background The pod shattering (PS) trait negatively affects the crop yield in rapeseed especially under dry conditions. To better understand the trait and cultivate higher resistance varieties, it’s necessary to identify key genes and unravel the PS mechanism thoroughly. Results In this study, we conducted a comparative transcriptome analysis between two materials significantly different in silique shatter resistance lignin deposition and polygalacturonase (PG) activity. Here, we identified 10,973 differentially expressed genes at six pod developmental stages. We found that the late pod development stages might be crucial in preparing the pods for upcoming shattering events. GO enrichment results from K-means clustering and weighed gene correlation network analysis (WGCNA) both revealed senescence-associated genes play an important role in PS. Two hub genes Bna.A05ABI5 and Bna.C03ERF/AP2-3 were selected from the MEyellow module, which possibly regulate the PS through senescence-related mechanisms. Further investigation found that senescence-associated transcription factor Bna.A05ABI5 upregulated the expression of SAG2 and ERF/AP2 to control the shattering process. In addition, the upregulation of Bna.C03ERF/AP2-3 is possibly involved in the transcription of downstream SHP1/2 and LEA proteins to trigger the shattering mechanism. We also analyzed the PS marker genes and found Bna.C07SHP1/2 and Bna.PG1/2 were significantly upregulated in susceptible accession. Furthermore, the role of auxin transport by Bna.WAG2 was also observed, which could reduce the PG activity to enhance the PS resistance through the cell wall loosening process. Conclusion Based on comparative transcriptome evaluation, this study delivers insights into the regulatory mechanism primarily underlying the variation of PS in rapeseed. Taken together, these results provide a better understanding to increase the yield of rapeseed by reducing the PS through better engineered crops.

BackgroundThe effect of viscous soluble dietary fiber on glucose and lipid metabolism in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains controversial, and the dose–response relationship of its effect on blood glucose and blood lipid level is still unclear.MethodsWe conducted comprehensive searches in several databases up to 17 January 2023. We conducted a dose–response analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to investigate the effect of viscous dietary fiber on glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with T2DM.ResultsStatistical significance was observed in the decreases of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) (mean difference) [MD = −0.47; 95%CI: (−0.66, −0.27)], fasting blood glucose (FBG) [MD = −0.93; 95%CI: (−1.46, −0.41)], total cholesterol (TC) [MD = −0.33; 95%CI: (−0.46, −0.21)], and low-density lipoprotein and cholesterol (LDL-C) [MD = −0.24; 95%CI: (−0.35, −0.13)]. Contrarily, no difference was observed regarding the level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) or triglyceride (TG). In addition, the effect on fasting insulin remains unclear. Results from the subgroup analyses showed that an intervention duration longer than 6 weeks had a significant effect on the HbA1c level; a treatment dosage higher than 8.3 g/day had a significant effect on the FBG level.ConclusionsSupplementation of viscous dietary fiber is beneficial to control blood glucose and blood lipid in T2DM.

Aiming at the problem that the existing aggregation operators only consider the weight of the data itself or the weight of the data position when aggregating data, a group decision information fusion model based on the combinatorial ordered weighted average operator is proposed, which considers the incompleteness, uncertainty and plurality of the decision information, and effectively improves the accuracy of group consensus. In this paper, an interval intuitionistic fuzzy combinatorically weighted average operator is proposed, which embodies the weight of the set data itself and the weight of data position, and can adjust the importance of the two weights in the operator through parameters, and prove that the operator has the properties of boundedness, monotonicity, idempotency and permutation invariance. Secondly, a position weight solving model of interval intuitionistic fuzzy combinatorial ordered weighted average operator is established, and the position weight is solved with the help of cross-entropy and Orness measures. Finally, a group decision information fusion process based on IVIFCOWA operators is designed, and the decision maker weight information is obtained according to the decision matrix, and the comprehensive decision matrix is obtained by fusion of IVIFCOWA operators, and then the mean similarity is obtained. Through specific case analysis, it is proved that the proposed operator can make full use of the decision data, and can better reach group consensus after data fusion than the existing operator.

To reveal the oil-bearing characteristics and hydrocarbon composition of shale oils in the third member of Shahejie Formation in the northern part of Dongpu Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, analysis and testing were carried out by the means of frozen-craching followed by pyrolysis, 3D quantitative fluorescence test, GC-MS and thin section observation. Two shale oil enrichment types including interlayer type and fracture type are mainly developed in the third member of Shahejie Formation of well Wen 410. The hydrocarbon mainly occurres in inter-granular pores and micro-fractures, and effective pore-fracture combination is the key to the efficient enrichment of shale oil. The hydrocarbon composition of rock extracts is mainly characterized by n-alkanes with low carbon numbers, and the regular steranes of C27-C28-C29 show a V-shaped distribution, reflecting that the sources of organic matter are mainly terrestrial higher plants and lower aquatic organisms. The high content of gammacerane and the low Pr/Ph ratio indicate that the sedimentary environment in this area is mainly a saline reducing environment. C3122S/(22S+22R), Ts/(Ts+Tm), C29ααα20S/(20S+20R), C29ββ/(αα+ββ) and other biomarker parameters indicate that the source rocks are at mature stage.

Since the last IAEA-FEC in 2021, significant progress on the development of long pulse steady state scenario and its related key physics and technologies have been achieved, including the reproducible 403 s long-pulse steady-state H-mode plasma with pure radio frequency (RF) power heating. A thousand-second time scale (∼1056 s) fully non-inductive plasma with high injected energy up to 1.73 GJ has also been achieved. The EAST operational regime of high β _P has been significantly extended ( H _98y2 > 1.3, β _P ∼ 4.0, β _N ∼ 2.4 and n _e / n _GW ∼ 1.0) using RF and neutral beam injection (NBI). The full edge localized mode suppression using the n = 4 resonant magnetic perturbations has been achieved in ITER-like standard type-I ELMy H-mode plasmas with q _95 ≈ 3.1 on EAST, extrapolating favorably to the ITER baseline scenario. China has contributed to the manufacturing of the Error Field Correction Coils (CC) and the Magnet Feeders for ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). The manufacturing projects have been carried by ASIPP (Institute of Plasma Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences). In this paper, the lessons learned from these two manufacturing projects will be described with special focus on some key manufacturing processes. These experiences gained from the work carried so far in CC and magnet feeder manufacturing and testing are very valuable not only for the remaining manufacturing tasks of these two projects, but also for similar systems of other Tokamak fusion device.

Members of the high-affinity potassium transporter (HKT) protein family regulate the uptake and homeostasis of sodium and potassium ions, but little research describes their roles in response to abiotic stresses in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.). In this study, we identified and characterized a total of 36 HKT genes from the species comprising the triangle of U model (U-triangle species): B. rapa, B. nigra, B. oleracea, B. juncea, B. napus, and B. carinata. We analyzed the phylogenetic relationships, gene structures, motif compositions, and chromosomal distributions of the HKT family members of rapeseed. Based on their phylogenetic relationships and assemblage of functional domains, we classified the HKT members into four subgroups, HKT1;1 to HKT1;4. Analysis of the nonsynonymous substitutions (Ka), synonymous substitutions (Ks), and the Ka/Ks ratios of HKT gene pairs suggested that these genes have experienced strong purifying selective pressure after duplication, with their evolutionary relationships supporting the U-triangle theory. Furthermore, the expression profiles of BnaHKT genes varies among potassium, phytohormone and heavy-metal treatment. Their repression provides resistance to heavy-metal stress, possibly by limiting uptake. Our results systematically reveal the characteristics of HKT family proteins and their encoding genes in six Brassica species and lay a foundation for further exploration of the role of HKT family genes in heavy-metal tolerance.

Brassica crops, which are of worldwide importance, provide various oil, vegetable and ornamental products, as well as feedstocks for animal husbandry and biofuel industry. Cinnamoyl-CoA reductase (CCR) is the entry point to the lignin pathway and a crucial locus in manipulation of associated traits, but CCR-associated metabolism and traits in Brassica crops have remained largely unstudied except in Arabidopsis thaliana. We report the identification of 16 CCR genes from Brassica napus and its parental species B. rapa and B. oleracea. The BnCCR1 and BnCCR2 subfamilies displayed divergent organ-specificity and participation in the yellow-seed trait. Their functions were dissected via overexpression of representative paralogs in B. napus. BnCCR1 was expressed preferentially in G- and H-lignin biosynthesis and vascular development, while BnCCR2 was expressed in S-lignin biosynthesis and interfascicular fiber development. BnCCR1 showed stronger effects on lignification-related development, lodging resistance, phenylpropanoid flux control, and seed coat pigmentation, whereas BnCCR2 showed a stronger effect on sinapate biosynthesis. BnCCR1 upregulation delayed bolting and flowering time, while BnCCR2 upregulation weakened the leaf vascular system in consequence of suppressed G-lignin accumulation. BnCCR1 and BnCCR2 were closely but almost oppositely linked with glucosinolate metabolism via inter-pathway crosstalk. We conclude that BnCCR1 and BnCCR2 subfamilies offer great but differing potential for manipulating traits associated with phenylpropanoids and glucosinolates. This study reveals the CCR1–CCR2 divergence in Brassicaceae and offers a resource for rapeseed breeding for lodging resistance, yellow-seed traits, and glucosinolate traits.

Yellow seed coat in rapeseed (Brassica napus) is a desirable trait that can be targeted to improve the quality of this oilseed crop. To better understand the inheritance mechanism of the yellow-seeded trait, we performed transcriptome profiling of developing seeds in yellow- and black-seeded rapeseed with different backgrounds. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) during seed development showed significant characteristics, these genes were mainly enriched for the Gene Ontology (GO) terms carbohydrate metabolic process, lipid metabolic process, photosynthesis, and embryo development. Moreover, 1206 and 276 DEGs, which represent candidates to be involved in seed coat color, were identified between yellow- and black-seeded rapeseed during the middle and late stages of seed development, respectively. Based on gene annotation, GO enrichment analysis, and protein–protein interaction network analysis, the downregulated DEGs were primarily enriched for the phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis pathways. Notably, 25 transcription factors (TFs) involved in regulating flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, including known (e.g., KNAT7, NAC2, TTG2 and STK) and predicted TFs (e.g., C2H2-like, bZIP44, SHP1, and GBF6), were identified using integrated gene regulatory network (iGRN) and weight gene co-expression networks analysis (WGCNA). These candidate TF genes had differential expression profiles between yellow- and black-seeded rapeseed, suggesting they might function in seed color formation by regulating genes in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway. Thus, our results provide in-depth insights that facilitate the exploration of candidate gene function in seed development. In addition, our data lay the foundation for revealing the roles of genes involved in the yellow-seeded trait in rapeseed.

Life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) plays an essential role in the economic sustainability assessment of buildings, and building information modeling (BIM) offers a potentially valuable approach to fulfilling its requirement. However, the state of LCCA based on BIM is unclear despite previously published works. Therefore, this paper aims to address this gap by reviewing 45 relevant peer-reviewed articles through a systematic literature search, selection, and assessment. The results show that three data exchange methods integrate BIM and LCCA through data input, calculation, and output. Precision management, optimization measures, and parameter analysis through BIM significantly improve the value of buildings. Also, a methodological framework is summarized that combines LCC with other indicators based on BIM to consider economic, environmental, and social impacts, which can be monetized to assess life cycle sustainability costs. These findings provide insights for scholars and practitioners.

Abstract Hundreds of genes have been associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including loss-of-function mutations in chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 8 (Chd8). Environmental factors also are implicated in autism risk and have the potential to exacerbate phenotypes in genetically sensitized backgrounds. Here we investigate transcriptional and behavioral phenotypes in a Chd8 haploinsufficient (Chd8 V986*/+) mouse line exposed to the pesticide deltamethrin (DM) from conception to postnatal day 22. Vehicle-exposed Chd8 V986*/+ mice displayed ASD-associated phenotypes, including anxiety-like behavior and altered sociability, replicating a previous study with this mouse line. A core set of genes was altered in Chd8 V986*/+ mice at multiple ages, including Usp11, Wars2, Crlf2, and Eglf6, and proximity ligation data indicated direct binding of CHD8 to the 5’ region of these genes. Moreover, oligodendrocyte and neurodegenerative transcriptional phenotypes were apparent in 12 and 18 month old Chd8 V986*/+ mice. Following DM exposure, the mutant mice displayed an exacerbated phenotype in the elevated plus maze, and genes associated with vascular endothelial cells were downregulated in the cerebral cortex of older Chd8 V986*/+ animals. Our study reveals a gene x environment interaction with a Chd8 haploinsufficient mouse line and points to the importance of investigating phenotypes in ASD animal models across the lifespan.

Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly infectious epidemic disease that has seriously affected human health worldwide. To date, however, there is still no definitive drug for the treatment of COVID-19. Cell-based therapies could represent a new breakthrough. Over the past several decades, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have proven to be ideal candidates for the treatment of many viral infectious diseases due to their immunomodulatory and tissue repair or regeneration promoting properties, and several relevant clinical trials for the treatment of COVID-19 have been registered internationally. Herein, we systematically summarize the clinical efficacy of MSCs in the treatment of COVID-19 based on published results, including mortality, time to symptom improvement, computed tomography (CT) imaging, cytokines, and safety, while elaborating on the possible mechanisms underpinning the effects of MSCs, to provide a reference for subsequent studies.

Inorganic arsenic in drinking water is prioritized as a top environmental contaminant by the World Health Organization, with over 230 million people potentially being exposed. Arsenic toxicity has been well documented and is associated with a plethora of human diseases, including diabetes, as established in numerous animal and epidemiological studies. Our previous study revealed that arsenic exposure leads to the inhibition of nuclear receptors, including LXR/RXR. To this end, FXR is a nuclear receptor central to glucose and lipid metabolism. However, limited studies are available for understanding arsenic exposure-FXR interactions. Herein, we report that FXR knockout mice developed more profound glucose intolerance than wild-type mice upon arsenic exposure, supporting the regulatory role of FXR in arsenic-induced glucose intolerance. We further exposed mice to arsenic and tested if GW4064, a FXR agonist, could improve glucose intolerance and dysregulation of hepatic proteins and serum metabolites. Our data showed arsenic-induced glucose intolerance was remarkably diminished by GW4064, accompanied by a significant ratio of alleviation of dysregulation in hepatic proteins (83%) and annotated serum metabolites (58%). In particular, hepatic proteins “rescued” from arsenic toxicity by GW4064 featured members of glucose and lipid utilization. For instance, the expression of PCK1, a candidate gene for diabetes and obesity that facilitates gluconeogenesis, was repressed under arsenic exposure in the liver, but revived with the GW4064 supplement. Together, our comprehensive dataset indicates FXR plays a key role and may serve as a potential therapeutic for arsenic-induced metabolic disorders.

Due to its superior corrosion resistance and low coefficient of friction, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is extensively used in the aerospace, machinery, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. However, PTFE components encounter complex alternating stresses, resulting in ratchet and creep, which will affect the component’s reliability. It is therefore necessary to clarify the PTFE’s resistance to ratchet and creep. In this paper, uniaxial ratchet and tensile creep experiments were conducted at five temperatures on a PTFE dog-bone tensile specimen. At various temperatures and stress levels, the effects of average stress and stress amplitude on the cyclic plastic behavior of PTFE were investigated. It is demonstrated that the ratchet strains and strain rates at 23 °C are greater than those at 50 °C. The reason for this is that the PTFE material exhibits different crystal states at these two temperatures. At temperatures above 50 °C, the ratchet strain and ratchet strain rate increase with temperature. At temperatures above 100 °C, the ratchet strain and ratchet strain rate of PTFE materials increase more rapidly due to the glass transition. By analyzing the creep strain and ratchet strain of specimens subjected to varying levels of average and amplitude stress, it was discovered that the creep strain and ratchet strain caused by the average stress under the same stress increment were greater than those caused by the amplitude stress.

Abstract Background Agronomic treatments such as the application of nitrogen fertilizer and topping (removal of the inflorescence and top leaves) cause substantial changes in plant metabolism. To explore these changes, we conducted comparative transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses of leaves collected from four positions along the stem on plants exposed to two nitrogen doses and with different numbers of leaves retained after topping in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). Results We identified 13,330 unique differentially expressed genes and 32 differentially abundant metabolites. Through RNA-seq and WGCNA analyze, we constructed 2 co-expression networks (green and blue) highly correlation to N application and leaf number retained, predicted a hub gene NtGER3 may play an important role in N metabolism related to amino acid (cysteine) through CK pathway in tobacco leaves, NtARFs may participated in modulating the auxin signal and N in bottom leaves and NtRAP2.12 as key gene involved in N regulation by ethylene pathway. What’s more, our data prove C/N transformation and balance affect the “source – flow - sink” redistribution and remobilization in tobacco during growth and development process. Conclusions Overall, this comparative transcriptomics study provides novel insight into the complex molecular mechanisms underlying plant responses to different levels of nitrogen application and the number of leaves remaining after topping in plants.

Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is an important source of edible vegetable oil and feed protein; however, seed pigments affect the quality of rapeseed oil and the feed value of the residue from oil pressing. Here, we used a population of rapeseed recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from the black-seeded male parent cultivar Zhongyou 821 and the yellow-seeded female parent line GH06 to map candidate genes controlling seed pigments in embryos and the seed coat. We detected 94 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for seed pigments (44 for embryos and 50 for seed coat), distributed over 15 of the 19 rapeseed chromosomes. These included 28 QTLs for anthocyanidin content, explaining 2.41–44.66% of phenotypic variation; 24 QTLs for flavonoid content, explaining 2.41–20.26% of phenotypic variation; 16 QTLs for total phenol content, accounting for 2.74–23.68% of phenotypic variation; and 26 QTLs for melanin content, accounting for 2.37–24.82% of phenotypic variation, indicating that these traits are under multigenic control. Consensus regions on chromosomes A06, A09 and C08 were associated with multiple seed pigment traits, including 15, 19 and 10 QTLs, respectively, most of which were major QTLs explaining >10% of the phenotypic variation. Based on the annotation of the B. napus “Darmor-bzh” reference genome, 67 candidate genes were predicted from these consensus QTLs regions, and 12 candidate genes were identified as potentially involved in pigment accumulation by RNA-seq and qRT-PCR analysis. These preliminary results provide insight into the genetic architecture of pigment biosynthesis and lay a foundation for exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying seed coat color in B. napus.

Abstract Background Rapeseed is the third-largest oilseed crop after soybeans and palm that produces vegetable oil for human consumption and biofuel for industrial production. Silique length (SL) is an important trait that is strongly related to seed yield in rapeseed. Although many studies related to SL have been reported in rapeseed, only a few candidate genes have been found and cloned, and the genetic mechanisms regulating SL in rapeseed remain unclear. Here, we dissected the genetic basis of SL by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) combined with transcriptome analysis. Results We identified quantitative trait locus (QTL) for SL using a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population and two independent GWAS populations. Major QTLs on chromosomes A07, A09, and C08 were stably detected in all environments from all populations. Several candidate genes related to starch and sucrose metabolism, plant hormone signal transmission and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis were detected in the main QTL intervals, such as BnaA9.CP12-2, BnaA9.NST2, BnaA7.MYB63, and BnaA7.ARF17. In addition, the results of RNA-seq and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) showed that starch and sucrose metabolism, photosynthesis, and secondary cell wall biosynthesis play an important role in the development of siliques. Conclusions We propose that photosynthesis, sucrose and starch metabolism, plant hormones, and lignin content play important roles in the development of rapeseed siliques.

Purpose: Recent reports suggest retinal microvasculature mirror cerebral microcirculation. Using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), we investigated the retinal microvasculature differences between ischemic stroke patients with large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and small artery disease (SAD).Methods: All patients underwent MR imaging and were classified as SAD and LAA; LAA was subdivided into anterior LAS and posterior LAS depending on the location. Swept-source OCTA (SS-OCTA) was used to image and segment the retina into the superficial vascular complex (SVC) and deep vascular complex (DVC) in a 6 × 6 mm area around the fovea. A deep learning algorithm was used to assess the vessel area density (VAD, %) in the retinal microvasculature.Results: Fifty-eight (mean age = 60.26 ± 10.88 years; 81.03% males) were LAA while 64 (mean age = 55.58 ± 10.34 years; 85.94% males) were SAD. LAS patients had significantly reduced VAD in the DVC (P = 0.022) compared to SAD patients; the VAD in the SVC did not show any significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.580). Anterior LAA ischemic stroke showed significantly lower VAD (P = 0.002) in the SVC compared with posterior LAS patients. There was no significant difference in the DVC between the two groups (P = 0.376).Conclusions: We found LAA patients had significantly reduced DVC density compared with SAD; we also showed anterior LAA patients had significantly reduced SVC density compared with posterior LAA. These findings suggest retinal imaging has the potential to be used to detect microvasculature changes in subtypes of ischemic stroke.

Increasing oil production is a major goal in rapeseed (Brassica napus) molecular breeding programs. Identifying seed oil content (SOC)-related candidate genes is an important step towards achieving this goal. We performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping of SOC in B. napus using a high-density SNP genetic map constructed from recombinant inbred lines and the Illumina InfiniumTM 60K SNP array. A total of 26 QTLs were detected in three years on A01, A03, A05, A06, A09, C01, C03 and C05, which accounted for 3.69%~18.47% of the phenotypic variation in SOC. Of these, 13 QTLs are reported here for the first time. 1713 candidate genes in the 26 QTLs confidence interval were obtained. We then identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the high- and low-SOC accessions, to narrow down our focus to 21 candidate genes (Y1-Y21) related to SOC, and we will focus on 11 (Y1-Y11) candidate genes that contribute to the formation of high-SOC. In addition to providing insight into the genetic basis of SOC in B. napus, the loci identified and candidate genes in this study can be used in molecular breeding strategies to increase SOC in this important seed crop.

Crop production is the primary goal of agricultural activities, which is always taken into consideration. However, global agricultural systems are coming under increasing pressure from the rising food demand of the rapidly growing world population and changing climate. To address these issues, improving high-yield and climate-resilient related-traits in crop breeding is an effective strategy. In recent years, advances in omics techniques, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, paved the way for accelerating plant/crop breeding to cope with the changing climate and enhance food production. Optimized omics and phenotypic plasticity platform integration, exploited by evolving machine learning algorithms will aid in the development of biological interpretations for complex crop traits. The precise and progressive assembly of desire alleles using precise genome editing approaches and enhanced breeding strategies would enable future crops to excel in combating the changing climates. Furthermore, plant breeding and genetic engineering ensures an exclusive approach to developing nutrient sufficient and climate-resilient crops, the productivity of which can sustainably and adequately meet the world’s food, nutrition, and energy needs. This review provides an overview of how the integration of omics approaches could be exploited to select crop varieties with desired traits.

Abstract Whole-angle gyroscopes have broad prospects for development with inherent advantages of excellent scale factor, wide bandwidth and measurement range, which are restrictions on rate gyroscopes. Previous studies on the whole-angle mode are based mostly on the linear model of Lynch, and the essential nonlinearity of capacitive displacement detection is always neglected, which has significant negative effects on the performance. In this paper, a novel real-time calibration method of capacitive displacement detection is proposed to eliminate these nonlinear effects. This novel method innovatively takes advantage of the relationship between the first and third harmonic components of detective signals for calibration. Based on this method, the real-time calibration of capacitive displacement detection is achieved and solves the problems of traditional methods, which are usually related to the vibration amplitude, environmental variations and other factors. Furthermore, this novel calibration method is embedded into a whole-angle control system to restore the linear capacitive response in real time and then combined with a microshell resonator for the first time to exploit the enormous potential of an ultrahigh Q factor and symmetric structure. The effectiveness is proven because the angle drift is reduced significantly to improve the scale-factor nonlinearity by 14 times to 0.79 ppm with 0.0673°/h bias instability and a 0.001°/s rate threshold, which is the best reported performance of the MEMS whole-angle gyroscope thus far. More importantly, this novel calibration method can be applied for all kinds of resonators with the requirement of a linear capacitive response even under a large resonant amplitude.

Abstract Background In the oilseed crop Brassica napus (rapeseed), various metabolic processes influence seed oil content, oil quality, and biological yield. However, the role of plastid membrane proteins in these traits has not been explored. Results Our genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 520 B. napus accessions identified the chloroplast membrane protein-localized FATTY ACID EXPORTER 1-1 (FAX1-1) as a candidate associated with biological yield. Seed transcript levels of BnaFAX1-1 were higher in a cultivar with high seed oil content relative to a low-oil cultivar. BnaFAX1-1 was localized to the plastid envelope. When expressed in Arabidopsis thaliana, BnaFAX1-1 enhanced biological yield (total plant dry matter), seed yield and seed oil content per plant. Likewise, in the field, B. napus BnaFAX1-1 overexpression lines (BnaFAX1-1-OE) displayed significantly enhanced biological yield, seed yield, and seed oil content compared with the wild type. BnaFAX1-1 overexpression also up-regulated gibberellic acid 4 (GA4) biosynthesis, which may contribute to biological yield improvement. Furthermore, oleic acid (C18:1) significantly increased in BnaFAX1-1 overexpression seeds. Conclusion Our results indicated that the putative fatty acid exporter BnaFAX1-1 may simultaneously improve seed oil content, oil quality and biological yield in B. napus, providing new approaches for future molecular breeding.

Background: Environmental health research has recently undergone a dramatic shift, with ongoing technological advancements allowing for broader coverage of exposure and molecular biology signatures. Approaches to integrate such measures are still needed to increase understanding between systems-level exposure and biology. Objectives: We address this gap by evaluating placental tissues to identify novel chemical-biological interactions associated with preeclampsia. This study tests the hypothesis that understudied chemicals are present in the human placenta and associated with preeclampsia-relevant disruptions, including overall case status (preeclamptic vs. normotensive patients) and underlying transcriptomic/epigenomic signatures. Methods: A non-targeted analysis based on high-resolution mass spectrometry was used to analyze placental tissues from a cohort of 35 patients with preeclampsia (n = 18) and normotensive (n = 17) pregnancies. Molecular feature data were prioritized for confirmation based on association with preeclampsia case status and confidence of chemical identification. All molecular features were evaluated for relationships to mRNA, microRNA, and CpG methylation (i.e., multi-omic) signature alterations involved in preeclampsia. Results: A total of 183 molecular features were identified with significantly differentiated abundance in placental extracts of preeclamptic patients; these features clustered into distinct chemical groupings using unsupervised methods. Of these features, 53 were identified (mapping to 40 distinct chemicals) using chemical standards, fragmentation spectra, and chemical metadata. In general, human metabolites had the largest feature intensities and strongest associations with preeclampsia-relevant multi-omic changes. Exogenous drugs were second most abundant and had fewer associations with multi-omic changes. Other exogenous chemicals (non-drugs) were least abundant and had the fewest associations with multi-omic changes. Conclusions: These global data trends suggest that human metabolites are heavily intertwined with biological processes involved in preeclampsia etiology, while exogenous chemicals may still impact select transcriptomic/epigenomic processes. This study serves as a demonstration of merging systems exposures with systems biology to better understand chemical-disease relationships.

Transition metal nitride (TMN) films with excellent hardness and lubricating performance are versatile low dimension materials, which are widely used in various fields including industries, transportation, aerospace, and so on. This paper introduces one film design strategy and provides a review of the mechanisms for strengthening and lubricating nitride films. The design strategy refers to two aspects which determine the structures, the performance, the components, and the chemical constitutions of nitride films The strengthening mechanisms of nitride films are then illuminated in detail, including the solid solution effect, the grain size effect, the secondary phase effect, the stress or stress field effect, the template effect, and the valence electron concentration effect. Five lubricating mechanisms are next summarized, including the easy-shear nature, the tribo-chemical reactions, the lubricious fluorides, the textured contact surface, and the synergistic effect. This paper aims to give a comprehensive introduction for understanding the mechanisms of strengthening and lubrication of nitride films for students and researchers, as well as to understand the current research progress in nitride films for exploring research gaps.

(1) Background: The effect of cinnamon on the regulation of glycolipid levels in type 2 diabetic patients is still controversial, and there is a lack of research on the dose–response relationship between cinnamon and glycolipid indicators in type 2 diabetic patients. (2) Methods: This dose–response meta-analysis was performed to explore the effect of the cinnamon intervention on glycolipid metabolism. We conducted a comprehensive database search for literature published before November 2022. Nonlinear models were used for dose–response relationship analysis. (3) Results: We identified that a cinnamon intervention was effective in controlling triglyceride (TG) levels (mean difference = −7.31; 95%CI: −12.37, −2.25, p = 0.005) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels (mean difference = −6.78; 95%CI: −11.35, −2.22, p = 0.004) in type 2 diabetic patients; however, it also was able to increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (mean difference = 1.53; 95%CI: 1.01, 2.05, p < 0.001). However, the cinnamon intervention had no significant effect on the level of fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), or total cholesterol (TC) levels. We found a significant effect of the cinnamon intervention dose on the TG level (p-nonlinearity = 0.016) and LDL-C (p-nonlinearity = 0.019) in the nonlinear dose–response analysis. In the subgroup analysis, we found a hypoglycemic effect with the cinnamon dose ≤1200 mg (mean difference = −11.1, 95%CI: −14.64, −7.58, p < 0.001). (4) Conclusion: Cinnamon intervention may be beneficial in lowering TG and LDL-C levels while enhancing HDL-C levels, and the dosage of the intervention was an important factor in influencing the TG and LDL-C levels.

In organic synthesis, it is important to control the selectivity target product with high purity and reduce the cost of energy and equipment for separation. This study investigated supported gold catalysts on biochar-modified titanate-based nanofibers in order to regulate the catalytic performances by biochar content and surface properties. The catalysts were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis to confirm their morphology, particle size distribution of Au NPs, crystal structures, oxidation state of Au and other key elements, real Au loading, and optical properties. In the test of selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde, the biochar modification could improve the selectivity toward benzaldehyde. Moreover, the influence of catalyst calcination conditions, reaction time, reaction atmospheres, reaction temperatures and solvent were systematically investigated. These results are useful for peer researchers in rational catalyst design.

Abstract Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is the second most important oilseed crop in edible vegetable oil and bioenergy; however, drought stress generally causes a decrease in rapeseed yield and oil content, especially during the reproductive stage. In our study, we measured the oil and protein contents and gibberellic acid (GA) and abscisic acid (ABA) levels in seeds that were acquired on the 30th, 40th, and 50th days after flowering under control and drought treatments. RNA and protein libraries were constructed from the stressed seeds to perform transcriptome and proteome analyses, respectively. Our results demonstrated that the oil content decreased due to four primary mechanisms: downregulation of fatty acid biosynthesis‐associated genes and proteins; upregulation of fatty acid degradation‐associated genes and proteins; enhancement of protein storage due to changes in the abundances of relevant genes and proteins; and upregulation of Gly‐Asp‐Ser‐Leu (GDSL) gene expression, potentially as the result of upregulating the GA biosynthesis gene GA20ox3 and downregulating the GA inactivating gene GA2ox3 and thus an increase in GA content. During seed maturation, oil storage change may also relate to increasing ABA content as the upregulation of two members of NCED6 (9‐cis‐epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase) gene family involved in ABA biosynthesis, and the upregulation of genes involved in ABA signal transduction. These results will help to establish a foundation for breeding excellent varieties of rapeseed with high oil content for areas with frequent droughts to promote the supply of edible vegetable oil and biofuel.

The motion control of the divertor maintenance system of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) was studied in this paper, in which CFETR Multi-Functional Maintenance Platform (MFMP) was simplified as a parallel robot for the convenience of theoretical analysis. In order to design the motion controller of parallel robot, the kinematics analysis of parallel robot was carried out. After that, the dynamic modeling of the hydraulic system was built. As the large variation of heavy payload on MFMP and highly nonlinearity of the system, A Fuzzy-PID controller was built for self-tuning PID controller parameters by using Fuzzy system to achieve better performance. In order to test the feasibility of the Fuzzy-PID controller, the simulation model of the system was built in Simulink. The results have showed that Fuzzy-PID controller can significantly reduce the angular error of the moving platform and provide the stable motion for transferring the divertor.
