Background/Objectives: The most common post-acute consequences of SARS-CoV-2 include lung dysfunction, the impairment of cognitive functions and mental health, as well as the impairment of the musculoskeletal system in the form of fatigue and muscle weakness. Post-COVID-19 patients often experience impaired balance and reduced physical capacity. It is important to implement a rehabilitation program that eliminates the side effects of COVID-19 and allows for significant improvement in the patient's functionality. The aim of our study was to assess patient functionality after a 6-week rehabilitation program on balance, foot pressure distribution, and physical capacity in post-COVID-19 patients. Methods: The clinical study group consisted of 53 people 3 months after COVID-19 infection, confirmed by a positive PCR test. Exclusion from the study included people with comorbidities that impaired balance and gait. The patients underwent a posturographic assessment—Romberg test, a baropodometric assessment—static and dynamic, and a performance assessment—a 6 min walk test determining shortness of breath on the mMRC scale, blood pressure, heart rate, and saturation. Patients participated in rehabilitation until the sixth week, after which they were assessed again. Comparisons were made using IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0 software using the Wilcoxon pairwise order test, at a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The result of the postural control assessment showed an improvement in the ability to maintain the centre of gravity in terms of the foot support area—statistical decreases were observed in the ellipse area, from 745.28 mm2 to 453.52 mm2 (p = 0.009), as well as maximum (from 3133.5 gr/cm2 to 2994.2 gr/cm2; p = 0.065) and average load on the left foot (from 1010.1 gr/cm2 to 969.38 gr/cm2; p = 0.028). In the 6 min walk test before and after exercise, the heart rate decreased after the therapy (shortness of breath on the mMRC scale also decreased from 79.12 to 74.95). This means that patients achieved better physical fitness and efficiency. Degenerative joint disease is a dynamic pathological process characterised by a destabilisation of the degradation and synthesis processes of articular cartilage and subchondral bone layer. Studies suggest that individuals with gonarthrosis experience deficits in proprioception, in addition to changes within their joints, which directly affects their ability to maintain posture and increases their risk of falling. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the functional status of patients with gonarthrosis through a posturographic examination conducted on a stabilometric platform (force plate) and a functional clinical examination. Methods: Participants were divided into two groups—a control group (n = 125) and a study group (n = 125). During the qualification process, subjective and objective examinations were conducted, including a functional assessment by means of such tests as the "Up and Go" Test, Functional Reach Test, Five Time Sit to Stand Test, and the Step Test. Subsequently, an assessment was conducted on the force plate by means of a posturographic test—the Romberg test performed with open and closed eyes in a standing position—and balance was evaluated using the Berg Balance Scale. The obtained data were analysed with the use of the IBM SPSS Statistics software version 27.0, by means of the Mann–Whitney test, and correlations were determined by means of Spearman's test. A significance level of p = 0.05 was adopted. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed among the assessed groups as a result of both functional and posturographic examinations, along with positive correlations for disease duration, age, and BMI index. Conclusions: Patients with gonarthrosis exhibited disturbances in balance, functionality, and posture compared to healthy individuals in the control group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, inflammatory, connective tissue disease, leading to foot deformities, impairment of locomotive functions, and reducing patients' quality of life. Obesity prevalence is rising in early RA and is associated with worse disease activity, function and health-related quality of life, with a significant negative impact on achieving a low Disease Activity Score in 28 joints (DAS28). The aim of the study was to evaluate foot deformities in overweight RA patients according to the severity of the disease. Material and methods: The study was performed on 50 overweight women with RA. The control group consisted of 50 overweight women free of any disorders. Plantography examination was carried out by means of a CQ ST 2K podoscope. Rheumatoid arthritis disease activity was assessed by DAS28. Activity limitation was assessed using the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and foot posture by the Foot Posture Index (FPI-6). Body composition analysis was performed using In Body 220. Results: Hallux valgus was the most frequent deformation in RA patients with overweight. Longitudinal flat foot was much more frequent in RA patients than transverse flat foot. A relationship between fat tissue mass and presence of transverse flat foot in RA patients with overweight was found. In this group DAS28, VAS, and Clarke's angle were correlated with increased value of HAQ. Conclusions: Plantar contourography showed a trend of an increase of a angle values and the Sztriter-Godunow index (KY) in overweight RA patients with increasing severity of radiological changes and DAS28, requiring use of proper prevention and therapeutic strategies of destructive changes. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the parameters of the statics and dynam-ics obtained from baropodometric examinations in patients after infection with the SarsCov2 vi-rus and to attempt to identify the causes of reported gait disorders. Materials and Methods: The study group consisted of 73 people beform COVId-19. The tested participants obtained a positive result from a PCR test confirm-ing the presence of the virus. Some people had a mild form of COVID-19. The control group consisted of 50 healthy people. The test was carried out on a FreeMed Posture baropodometric mat in static and in dynamic conditions while walking. Results: Statistically significant differences were obtained in the assessment of parameters such as the foot area, the average load on the lower limbs, the maximum load on the lower limbs in the dynamic assessment, as well as differences in parameters for the load on the forefoot and for the rear foot. On the other hand, in the static assessment, significant differences between the groups were found for the parameters of the foot surface, including the area of the hindfoot. Conclusions: In patients with a history of COVID-19, there may be gait disturbances in the baropodometry test that are visible in the load on the lower limbs and the surface of the feet. This may suggest a weaker efficiency of the foot muscles, which are responsible for its arching, and stronger pressure during walking and standing may be associated with a weaker nervous control of the muscles responsible for foot functions. Skeletal muscles and substances released during physical activity (myokines) have a beneficial influence on the functioning of the organism. Myokines (released also by myocardium) together with hepatokines and adipokines play an important role not only in energetic metabolism, but they also influence, among others, the function of the circulatory and nervous systems, modulation of inflammatory state and atherogenesis. Under pathological conditions connected with the presence of chronic diseases, chronic inflammatory state, low physical activity, long-term immobility the following consequences are observed: reduction of muscle mass and strength (sarcopenia) and changed profile of released myokines. The incidence of sarcopenia is connected with an unfavorable course of the aging process, often leading to disability and multiple morbidities. Sarcopenia can also lead to frailty syndrome, which not only worsens the prognosis of various diseases, but it can also increase the risk of medical procedures. Sarcopenia and adverse przymyokine profile are modifiable risk factors of cardiovascular diseases and affecting them may improve functional status and prognosis. An important intervention to improve muscles function and myokine profile, apart from nutritional treatment and pharmacotherapy, is regular physical activity as a component of cardiac rehabilitation. In our paper we focused on a review of the newest research regarding the association of sarcopenia and the profile of released myokines with incidence and course of cardiovascular diseases such as chronic heart failure, coronary artery disease, carotid artery atherosclerosis or ischemic cerebral stroke.
