第9回スペースデブリワークショップ (2021年2月24-26日. 宇宙航空研究開発機構調布航空宇宙センター(JAXA)(CAC), オンライン会議), 調布市, 東京, The 9th Space Debris Workshop (February 24-26, 2021. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC), Online meeting), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, JAXA では商業デブリ除去実証やその先のデブリ除去事業等を目指し、1kW 級ホールスラスタの研究開発を進めている。500 キログラム級の衛星により、数トン級のデブリの除去を実施するためには、MNs 級のトータルインパルスと、高い比推力が要求されるため電気推進の利用が望ましく、中でも推力電力比が高くミッション期間の制約を満たしやすいことから、1kW 級ホールスラスタが最有力候補と考えられる。ただし、同電力帯の既存ホールスラスタは一般に寿命が短く不足するため、JAXA では技術試験衛星9 号機で実証される長寿命ホールスラスタ技術をベースとして、低コスト長寿命な小型ホールスラスタシステムの実現を目指している。ホールスラスタヘッドや中和器だけでなく、電源や流量制御器を含めた推進システムとしての研究開発状況を報告する。, JAXA is conducting R&D on a 1kW-class Hall thruster system for active debris removal. The Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration (CRD2) phase II mission target is several tons of weight, which requires MNs-class of total impulse and high-specific impulse to accomplish. In addition, mission duration is also important from a commercial perspective. Therefore, electric propulsion, especially Hall thruster is the first candidate because of its relatively high thrust-to-power ratio. Since life-limit is challenging for conventional small Hall thrusters, JAXA is targeting low-cost long-life 1kW-class Hall thruster system, utilizing technologies to be demonstrated on JAXA ETS-9 satellite. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 宇宙環境におけるスペースデブリの増加により，宇宙機の大部分を占める太陽電池パネルへの衝突が懸念されている．特に，太陽電池パネルは人工衛星の電力源であることから，衝突による機械的影響だけでなく電気的影響が心配される．そこで，発電状態を模擬した太陽電池パネルへの微小粒子衝突試験を行いその影響を評価した．この結果，衝突によって発電力に若干の低下は見られるが，衛星グランドとの地絡故障などの大きな低下は確認されなかった．これより，従来の太陽電池パネル設計においては，軌道上での微小粒子の衝突は衛星システムにほとんど影響しないことが確認された．, Solar arrays are the satellite component most exposed to micrometeoroid and space debris (MM/SD) impacts. The electrical degradation by hypervelocity impacts (HVI) is characterized by considerable energy released at the impact interface leading to mechanical damage and the generation of plasma on electrical generation condition of the solar arrays. The electricity by solar array had no degradation during and after the impact tests. The surface potential depends on the plasma environment, the sunshine condition, the constituent material and so on. Therefore non-earthed surface materials on the satellite have the different potential from the satellite ground. As the differential potential builds up between two points, an arc may occur. The discharge is well known as causing the failure to the satellite power system, for instance, it is reported that the discharge sometimes causes loss of the power generation. So we should investigate the influence of the discharge on the orbit. When the charge with the high potential by the discharge is inputted to the power line or ground line, the transient voltage is applied to the base-emitter of the shunt transistor. This 'transient voltage' sometimes exceeds the level of the maximum rating voltage and breaks down the shunt transistor. We found that the breeder resistance and conductive adhesive were effective as a way of preventing this failure. Since ADEOS-2 was launched, JAXA has analyzed on-orbit telemetry routinely in order to verify design and to find any sign of anomaly or degradation. One of the findings is generation power fluctuation of solar array paddle. We have investigated mechanisms of the power fluctuation and reached a scenario, space debris impact on solar cell. The impact might cause short circuit in solar array paddle and drop generation current. To confirm the scenario, we carried out hypervelocity impact tests to the solar array blankets. The ADEOS-2 satellite experienced anomalous operation on October 25, 2003. The power generated on the satellite suddenly decreased from 6 kW to 1 kW. We conducted experiments to investigate this degradation of power for the satellite. The multi-layer insulator film that wraps the power cables was charged by low-energy electrons when the satellite passed though the aurora region around the Earth's pole. ESD tests were carried out for the power cables. Trigger arc discharges occurred between the film and cables with cracks produced by thermal cycles. A secondary arc electric discharge subsequently occurred between the cables themselves. This secondary arc caused a sustained arc after several discharges, which burned out the cables. The heat caused by arc tracking between the hot and return cables made them burn out. 2003年10月25日(JST)に、環境観測技術試験衛星みどり2(ADEOS-2)の太陽電池パドル発生電力が6kWから1kWに低下する事象が発生し、衛星全損に至る不具合となった。それに先立つ2003年3月20日〜7月22日の期間に、太陽電池7回路に計10回の発生電力の低下および低下の解消が発生した。原因調査の結果、発生原因の特定には至らなかったが、デブリが発生要因の有力な1候補であることが明らかとなった。, 資料番号: AA0048468023, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-04-010

The Mission Demonstration Test Satellite-1 (MDS-1 or Tsubasa) has 2 batteries, which consist of 32 series of 20 Ah Ni-MH cells. These batteries showed good performance as the main power source of the satellite during eclipse, which solar power isn't available. The satellite, which was launched by H-2A Launch Vehicle No. 2 (H-2A F2) on February 4, 2002, has ended its one year and eight months onorbit mission, which was much longer than the scheduled mission period of a year, and acquired various data. On September 25, 2003, the command signal was sent to stop radio frequency (RF) emission from the satellite. 1999年度に製作されたADEOS-2用FM50AhNi-Cd電池で発生したソルティング現象の、電池性能に与える影響を評価するために実施した、寿命評価試験結果をまとめた。放電深度25％、温度20度Cの周回軌道模擬サイクル1,000回において、放電末期電圧は1.19V以上、20度C容量は初期容量の97％以上あり、製品仕様書3.2.1.12(1)「作動寿命短期サイクル」要求の1.18V以上、85％以上を満足した。また、同一ロットの品質確認試験結果と有意な差はなく、ソルティング現象が電池性能に与える影響は無視しうるものと判断する。尚、試験は継続し、長期サイクルにおける寿命評価を行う。, 資料番号: AA0046976000, レポート番号: JAXA-RM-03-023
