Early blight of tomato is found to be one of the most devastating diseases of tomato, hence a roving survey was conducted in 3 districts of Chhattisgarh and maximum incidence was observed in Rampur village of Durg district and the disease incidence was least in khichri village of Raigarh. Further characterization of the causal agent, Alternaria solani revealed that PDA was the best media for the mycelial growth which was followed by OMA and HEA while the growth was best at pH 7.5 and minimal at 4.5 pH. Potassium nitrate and glucose were found to be the best nitrogen and carbon source for growth. 7 different colours were evaluated to find its effect on A. solani and it was found that blue light gave maximum mycelial growth while minimum growth was obtained in orange colour. The colony characteristics under various treatments also varied accordingly.

Patients with previous coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery typically have complex coronary disease and remain at high risk of adverse events. Quantitative myocardial perfusion indices predict outcomes in native vessel disease, but their prognostic performance in patients with prior CABG is unknown.In this study, we sought to evaluate whether global stress myocardial blood flow (MBF) and perfusion reserve (MPR) derived from perfusion mapping cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) independently predict adverse outcomes in patients with prior CABG.This was a retrospective analysis of consecutive patients with prior CABG referred for adenosine stress perfusion CMR. Perfusion mapping was performed in-line with automated quantification of MBF. The primary outcome was a composite of all-cause mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events defined as nonfatal myocardial infarction and unplanned revascularization. Associations were evaluated with the use of Cox proportional hazards models after adjusting for comorbidities and CMR parameters.A total of 341 patients (median age 67 years, 86% male) were included. Over a median follow-up of 638 days (IQR: 367-976 days), 81 patients (24%) reached the primary outcome. Both stress MBF and MPR independently predicted outcomes after adjusting for known prognostic factors (regional ischemia, infarction). The adjusted hazard ratio (HR) for 1 mL/g/min of decrease in stress MBF was 2.56 (95% CI: 1.45-4.35) and for 1 unit of decrease in MPR was 1.61 (95% CI: 1.08-2.38).Global stress MBF and MPR derived from perfusion CMR independently predict adverse outcomes in patients with previous CABG. This effect is independent from the presence of regional ischemia on visual assessment and the extent of previous infarction.

Isometric exercises are a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction. Aim And Objectives Aim: To compare the effectiveness of Ultrasound versus Acupuncture keeping Isometric exercises common for both for reducing the neck pain amongst the college students. Objectives: To nd the effectiveness of Ultrasound with Isometric exercises on neck pain amongst the college students. To nd the effectiveness of Acupuncture with Isometric exercises on neck pain amongst the college students. To nd the difference in the effectiveness of Ultrasound and Acupuncture, keeping isometric exercises common for both, on neck pain amongst the college students. Method:In a 3-week intervention study 30 participants divided into Group A (15) and Group B (15). Group A received Acupuncture with Isometric Exercise and Group B received Ultrasound with Isometric Exercise. Result: A signicant improvement in pain, (p‹0.05) after the treatment was found. Greater statistical signicant improvement was seen in Group B as compared to Group A. Conclusion: The study concluded that the treatment protocol received by Group B, Ultrasound with isometric exercise is more effective in reducing pain comparing to Group A who received Acupuncture with isometric exercise.

Aims Many cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators are not approved by regulators for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Even following generator exchange to an approved magnetic resonance (MR)-conditional model, many systems remain classified ‘non-MR conditional’ due to the leads. This classification makes patient access to MRI challenging, but there is no evidence of increased clinical risk. We compared the effect of MRI on non-MR conditional and MR-conditional pacemaker and defibrillator leads. Methods and results Patients undergoing clinical 1.5T MRI with pacemakers and defibrillators in three centres over 5 years were included. Magnetic resonance imaging protocols were similar for MR-conditional and non-MR conditional systems. Devices were interrogated pre- and immediately post-scan, and at follow-up, and adverse clinical events recorded. Lead parameter changes peri-scan were stratified by MR-conditional labelling. A total of 1148 MRI examinations were performed in 970 patients (54% non-MR conditional systems, 39% defibrillators, 15% pacing-dependent) with 2268 leads. There were no lead-related adverse clinical events, and no clinically significant immediate or late lead parameter changes following MRI in either MR-conditional or non-MR conditional leads. Small reductions in atrial and right ventricular sensed amplitudes and impedances were similar between groups, with no difference in the proportion of leads with parameter changes greater than pre-defined thresholds (7.1%, 95% confidence interval: 6.1–8.3). Conclusions There was no increased risk of MRI in patients with non-MR conditional pacemaker or defibrillator leads when following recommended protocols. Standardizing MR conditions for all leads would significantly improve access to MRI by enabling patients to be scanned in non-specialist centres, with no discernible incremental risk.

The Omicron, or Pango lineage B.1.1.529, variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) carries multiple spike mutations with high transmissibility and partial neutralizing antibody (nAb) escape. Vaccinated individuals show protection against severe disease, often attributed to primed cellular immunity. We investigated T and B cell immunity against B.1.1.529 in triple BioNTech BNT162b2 messenger RNA-vaccinated health care workers (HCWs) with different SARS-CoV-2 infection histories. B and T cell immunity against previous variants of concern was enhanced in triple-vaccinated individuals, but the magnitude of T and B cell responses against B.1.1.529 spike protein was reduced. Immune imprinting by infection with the earlier B.1.1.7 (Alpha) variant resulted in less durable binding antibody against B.1.1.529. Previously infection-naïve HCWs who became infected during the B.1.1.529 wave showed enhanced immunity against earlier variants but reduced nAb potency and T cell responses against B.1.1.529 itself. Previous Wuhan Hu-1 infection abrogated T cell recognition and any enhanced cross-reactive neutralizing immunity on infection with B.1.1.529.

The abrupt cessation of in-person education due to the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for preclerkship students to explore a career in surgery. To supplement the lack of exposure, the Surgical Exploration and Discovery (SEAD) program was transitioned to an entirely virtual format. This study aims to describe the virtual SEAD program and evaluate its effectiveness as a career decision-making (CDM) intervention.The week-long program was delivered on Microsoft Teams, featured 11 surgical specialties, and comprised four activities: live demonstrations, virtual operating room observerships, career talks, and technical skills workshops. The program was evaluated using the four levels of the Kirkpatrick model: (1) reactions, (2) knowledge, (3) CDM behaviors - assessed using the Career Decision-making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) - and (4) results. The latter was indirectly assessed using CDDQ scores from an in-person SEAD program, where lower CDDQ scores indicate less difficulty with CDM.Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada.Forty pre-clerkship students (27 first and 13 second year students) at the University of Ottawa RESULTS: Level 1: 97.5% of participants rated the program as good or very good. Live demonstration and technical skills workshops were the highest rated activities. Level 2: participants' scores on knowledge-based questions about a surgical career significantly increased following the program (pre: 9/25 vs post: 15/25, p = 0.008). Level 3: overall mean CDDQ scores (±SD) decreased difficulties with significantly following the program (pre: 45.6 ± 10.5 vs post: 38.8 ± 10.9, p0.001), which indicates decreased CDM difficulties. Level 4: Except for one sub-category, the difference in mean CDDQ scores between the virtual and in-person programs were not significantly different.The program received the positive reactions and significantly increased participants' knowledge. The change in CDDQ scores following the virtual program suggests it may reduce career decision-making difficulties in the short-term. Background Older patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) are increasingly identified as having cardiac amyloidosis (CA). It is unknown whether concomitant AS-CA has worse outcomes or results in futility of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Objectives This study identified clinical characteristics and outcomes of AS-CA compared with lone AS. Methods Patients who were referred for TAVR at 3 international sites underwent blinded research core laboratory 99mtechnetium-3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid (DPD) bone scintigraphy (Perugini grade 0: negative; grades 1 to 3: increasingly positive) before intervention. Transthyretin-CA (ATTR) was diagnosed by DPD and absence of a clonal immunoglobulin, and light-chain CA (AL) was diagnosed via tissue biopsy. National registries captured all-cause mortality. Results A total of 407 patients (age 83.4 ± 6.5 years; 49.8% men) were recruited. DPD was positive in 48 patients (11.8%; grade 1: 3.9% [n = 16]; grade 2/3: 7.9% [n = 32]). AL was diagnosed in 1 patient with grade 1. Patients with grade 2/3 had worse functional capacity, biomarkers (N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide and/or high-sensitivity troponin T), and biventricular remodeling. A clinical score (RAISE) that used left ventricular remodeling (hypertrophy/diastolic dysfunction), age, injury (high-sensitivity troponin T), systemic involvement, and electrical abnormalities (right bundle branch block/low voltages) was developed to predict the presence of AS-CA (area under the curve: 0.86; 95% confidence interval: 0.78 to 0.94; p Conclusions Concomitant pathology of AS-CA is common in older patients with AS and can be predicted clinically. AS-CA has worse clinical presentation and a trend toward worse prognosis, unless treated. Therefore, TAVR should not be withheld in AS-CA.

The outcome of secondary mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with heart failure is poor. Survival is related to the severity of MR. We sought to investigate the effect of left ventricular contractility, the ratio of left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) to effective orifice area (EROA) and the ratio of regurgitant volume (RVol) to stroke volume (SV) on cardiovascular survival.188 patients with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) 50% and secondary MR were included. Groups were divided into tertiles. The Kaplan Meier method and log rank test were used to identify differences in survival between groups. Cox regression was used to identify independent predictors of cardiac mortality.Median follow-up was 30.4 months. Patients with a more abnormal global longitudinal strain (GLS) had lower survival, p = 0.001. There was no difference in survival between patients with an LVEF30%, 30%-40% and 40%, p = 0.27. Patients with a higher RVol/SV ratio had lower survival than those with a lower ratio, p 0.0001. Patients with a lower LVEDV/EROA ratio had worse survival than those with a higher ratio, p 0.0001. Independent predictors of cardiovascular mortality were GLS (5.6%) hazard ratio (HR) 2.7, the ratio of RVol/SV (1.38) HR 4.96 and the ratio of LVDEV to EROA (263) HR 4.49.The main determinants of cardiovascular mortality in patients with secondary MR and heart failure are more abnormal GLS, lower LVEDV/EROA ratio and higher RVol/SV ratio. These may help risk stratify patients to help determine the optimal management strategy.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to validate computed tomography measured ECV (ECVCT) as part of routine evaluation for the detection of cardiac amyloid in patients with aortic stenosis (AS)-amyloid. Background AS-amyloid affects 1 in 7 elderly patients referred for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Bone scintigraphy with exclusion of a plasma cell dyscrasia can diagnose transthyretin-related cardiac amyloid noninvasively, for which novel treatments are emerging. Amyloid interstitial expansion increases the myocardial extracellular volume (ECV). Methods Patients with severe AS underwent bone scintigraphy (Perugini grade 0, negative; Perugini grades 1 to 3, increasingly positive) and routine TAVR evaluation CT imaging with ECVCT using 3- and 5-min post-contrast acquisitions. Twenty non-AS control patients also had ECVCT performed using the 5-min post-contrast acquisition. Results A total of 109 patients (43% male; mean age 86 ± 5 years) with severe AS and 20 control subjects were recruited. Sixteen (15%) had AS-amyloid on bone scintigraphy (grade 1, n = 5; grade 2, n = 11). ECVCT was 32 ± 3%, 34 ± 4%, and 43 ± 6% in Perugini grades 0, 1, and 2, respectively (p Conclusions ECVCT during routine CT TAVR evaluation can reliably detect AS-amyloid, and the measured ECVCT tracks the degree of infiltration. Another measure of interstitial expansion, the voltage/mass ratio, also performed well.

Aims Cardiac amyloidosis is common in elderly patients with aortic stenosis (AS) referred for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). We hypothesized that patients with dual aortic stenosis and cardiac amyloid pathology (AS-amyloid) would have different baseline characteristics, periprocedural and mortality outcomes. Methods and results Patients aged ≥75 with severe AS referred for TAVI at two sites underwent blinded bone scintigraphy prior to intervention (Perugini Grade 0 negative, 1–3 increasingly positive). Baseline assessment included echocardiography, electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, 6-min walk test, and health questionnaire, with periprocedural complications and mortality follow-up. Two hundred patients were recruited (aged 85 ± 5 years, 50% male). AS-amyloid was found in 26 (13%): 8 Grade 1, 18 Grade 2. AS-amyloid patients were older (88 ± 5 vs. 85 ± 5 years, P = 0.001), with reduced quality of life (EQ-5D-5L 50 vs. 65, P = 0.04). Left ventricular wall thickness was higher (14 mm vs. 13 mm, P = 0.02), ECG voltages lower (Sokolow–Lyon 1.9 ± 0.7 vs. 2.5 ± 0.9 mV, P = 0.03) with lower voltage/mass ratio (0.017 vs. 0.025 mV/g/m2, P = 0.03). High-sensitivity troponin T and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide were higher (41 vs. 21 ng/L, P Conclusions AS-amyloid is common and differs from lone AS. Transcatheter aortic valve implantation significantly improved outcome in AS-amyloid, while periprocedural complications and mortality were similar to lone AS, suggesting that TAVI should not be denied to patients with AS-amyloid.

Objectives To assess whether single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT) quantification of bone scintigraphy would improve diagnostic accuracy and offer a means of quantifying amyloid burden. Background Transthyretin-related cardiac amyloidosis is common and can be diagnosed noninvasively using bone scintigraphy; interpretation, however, relies on planar images. SPECT/CT imaging offers 3-dimensional visualization. Methods This was a single-center, retrospective analysis of 99mTc-3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid (DPD) scans reported using the Perugini grading system (0 = negative; 1 to 3 = increasingly positive). Conventional planar quantification techniques (heart/contralateral lung, and heart/whole-body retention ratios) were performed. Heart, adjacent vertebra, paraspinal muscle and liver peak standardized uptake values (SUVpeak) were recorded from SPECT/CT acquisitions. An SUV retention index was also calculated: (cardiac SUVpeak/vertebral SUVpeak) × paraspinal muscle SUVpeak. In a subgroup of patients, SPECT/CT quantification was compared with myocardial extracellular volume quantification by CT imaging (ECVCT). BACKGROUND: Patients with low-flow low-gradient (LFLG) AS comprise a high-risk group with respect to clinical outcomes. Although extracellular volume (ECV), a marker of myocardial fibrosis, is traditionally measured with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, it can also be measured using cardiac CT angiography (CTA). We hypothesized that in LFLG AS, increased ECV may be associated with adverse clinical outcomes. OBJECTIVE: We evaluated the association between ECV measured by CTA and clinical outcomes in LFLG AS patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). METHODS: In 150 LFLG AS patients who underwent TAVR, ECV was quantified using pre-TAVR CTA. Echocardiographic and clinical information including all cause death and heart failure rehospitalization (HFH) was obtained from electronic medical records. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to evaluate the association between ECV and death+HFH. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 13.9 months (range 0.07–28.9) there were 31 death+HFH (21%). OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to assess the utility of ambulatory cardiac monitoring (ACM) in detecting delayed advanced conduction abnormalities (DACA) and associated 30-day mortality. BACKGROUND DACA are well-known complications of TAVR and may be associated with post-discharge mortality within 30-days. METHODS Between October 2019 and October 2020, TAVR patients who were discharged home without a permanent pacemaker (PPM) were monitored with an ACM device for 14-days. The incidence of DACA at follow up, mortality and readmission within 30-days were investigated. The risk of DACA was assessed in three patient categories based on a composite of their 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) data. Group I: Normal pre-TAVR, periprocedural, and discharge ECGs. Group II: Normal pre-TAVR and abnormal subsequent ECGs. Group III. Abnormal baseline and abnormal subsequent ECGs. RESULTS Among 340 TAVR patients, 248 were discharged home with an ACM device. The overall incidence of DACA was 7% (n = 17), of whom 4% (n = 10) required a PPM. Mortality and readmission between discharge and 30 days was 0% and 8.3%, respectively. Stratification of patients identified 96 (38.7%) patients in Group I: 50 (20%) in Group II, and 102 (41%) in Group III. ObjectiveThe coexistence of wild-type transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR) is common in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). However, the impact of ATTR and AS on the resultant AS-ATTR is unclear and poses diagnostic and management challenges. We therefore used a multicohort approach to evaluate myocardial structure, function, stress and damage by assessing age-related, afterload-related and amyloid-related remodelling on the resultant AS-ATTR phenotype.MethodsWe compared four samples (n=583): 359 patients with AS, 107 with ATTR (97% Perugini grade 2), 36 with AS-ATTR (92% Perugini grade 2) and 81 age-matched and ethnicity-matched controls. 99mTc-3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid (DPD) scintigraphy was used to diagnose amyloidosis (Perugini grade 1 was excluded). The primary end-point was NT-pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) and secondary end-points related to myocardial structure, function and damage.ResultsCompared with older age controls, the three disease cohorts had greater cardiac remodelling, worse function and elevated NT-proBNP/high-sensitivity Troponin-T (hsTnT). NT-proBNP was higher in AS-ATTR (2844 (1745, 4635) ng/dL) compared with AS (1294 (1077, 1554)ng/dL; p=0.002) and not significantly different to ATTR (3272 (2552, 4197) ng/dL; p=0.63). Diastology, hsTnT and prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome were statistically similar between AS-ATTR and ATTR and higher than AS. The left ventricular mass indexed in AS-ATTR was lower than ATTR (139 (112, 167) vs 180 (167, 194) g; p=0.013) and non-significantly different to AS (120 (109, 130) g; p=0.179).ConclusionsThe AS-ATTR phenotype likely reflects an early stage of amyloid infiltration, but the combined insult resembles ATTR. Even after treatment of AS, ATTR-specific therapy is therefore likely to be beneficial.

Summary Background We hypothesised that host-response biomarkers of viral infections might contribute to early identification of individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is critical to breaking the chains of transmission. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of existing candidate whole-blood transcriptomic signatures for viral infection to predict positivity of nasopharyngeal SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing. Methods We did a nested case-control diagnostic accuracy study among a prospective cohort of health-care workers (aged ≥18 years) at St Bartholomew's Hospital (London, UK) undergoing weekly blood and nasopharyngeal swab sampling for whole-blood RNA sequencing and SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing, when fit to attend work. We identified candidate blood transcriptomic signatures for viral infection through a systematic literature search. We searched MEDLINE for articles published between database inception and Oct 12, 2020, using comprehensive MeSH and keyword terms for "viral infection", "transcriptome", "biomarker", and "blood". We reconstructed signature scores in blood RNA sequencing data and evaluated their diagnostic accuracy for contemporaneous SARS-CoV-2 infection, compared with the gold standard of SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing, by quantifying the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), sensitivities, and specificities at a standardised Z score of at least 2 based on the distribution of signature scores in test-negative controls. We used pairwise DeLong tests compared with the most discriminating signature to identify the subset of best performing biomarkers. We evaluated associations between signature expression, viral load (using PCR cycle thresholds), and symptom status visually and using Spearman rank correlation. The primary outcome was the AUROC for discriminating between samples from participants who tested negative throughout the study (test-negative controls) and samples from participants with PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection (test-positive participants) during their first week of PCR positivity. Findings We identified 20 candidate blood transcriptomic signatures of viral infection from 18 studies and evaluated their accuracy among 169 blood RNA samples from 96 participants over 24 weeks. Participants were recruited between March 23 and March 31, 2020. 114 samples were from 41 participants with SARS-CoV-2 infection, and 55 samples were from 55 test-negative controls. The median age of participants was 36 years (IQR 27–47) and 69 (72%) of 96 were women. Signatures had little overlap of component genes, but were mostly correlated as components of type I interferon responses. A single blood transcript for IFI27 provided the highest accuracy for discriminating between test-negative controls and test-positive individuals at the time of their first positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR result, with AUROC of 0·95 (95% CI 0·91–0·99), sensitivity 0·84 (0·70–0·93), and specificity 0·95 (0·85–0·98) at a predefined threshold (Z score >2). The transcript performed equally well in individuals with and without symptoms. Three other candidate signatures (including two to 48 transcripts) had statistically equivalent discrimination to IFI27 (AUROCs 0·91–0·95). Interpretation Our findings support further urgent evaluation and development of blood IFI27 transcripts as a biomarker for early phase SARS-CoV-2 infection for screening individuals at high risk of infection, such as contacts of index cases, to facilitate early case isolation and early use of antiviral treatments as they emerge. Antipsychotic medications are frequently prescribed to assisted living (AL) residents who have dementia, although there is a lack of information about the potential side effects and adverse events of these medications among this population. Oversight and monitoring by family members is an important component of AL care, and it is important to understand family awareness of antipsychotic use and reports of potential side effects and adverse events. This cross-sectional, descriptive study of family members of 283 residents with dementia receiving antipsychotic medications in 91 AL communities found high rates (93%) of symptoms that could be potential side effects and a 6% rate of potential adverse events. The majority of families were aware their relative was taking an antipsychotic. Findings suggest that obtaining family perspectives of potential side effects and adverse events related to medication use may contribute to overall improvement in the safety of AL residents living with dementia.

Background: Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CIAKI) following coronary angiography is frequently observed in the general population. End-stage liver disease (ESLD) patients are at a particularly increased risk for development of CIAKI following coronary angiography due to preexisting renal hypoperfusion. Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 544 consecutive cardiac catheterizations in ESLD patients from December 2003 to May 2013 to calculate the incidence of CIAKI post-coronary angiography and to identify risk factors for CIAKI. CIAKI was defined as a serum creatinine increase of either ≥ 25% or ≥ 0.5 mg/dL from baseline within 72 hours. Multivariable and Cox regression analysis was performed for development of CIAKI and all-cause mortality, respectively. Results: Overall, 179 cases of coronary angiography were included in the final analysis. CIAKI occurred in 23% of patients. All-cause mortality was 52% in the CIAKI group and 37% in the non-CIAKI group, with a mean follow-up of 2.2 ± 3.8 years. OBJECTIVES Mortality following TAVI remains notable and optimizing other features of cardiovascular health following this intervention can be overlooked. Aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV) is the gold-standard for measuring arterial stiffness and is a powerful predictor of mortality. We identified the potential to calculate PWV during TAVI and aimed to use this tool to assess long-term outcome. METHODS Data from 186 patients who underwent TAVI between April 2016 and June 2017 was assessed. Invasive pressure data was simultaneously recorded from the femoral head and aortic root prior to TAVI and wave-time calculated using an automated foot-to-foot methodology. Distance was measured from the pre-TAVI CT. PWV was calculated from these values. RESULTS Median PWV was 9.92 (95% CI 9.6-10.2) m/s. Background: Neuropathic pain (NP) is a debilitating condition that may result from spinal cord injury (SCI). Nearly 75% of all SCIs result in NP affecting 17,000 new individuals in the United States every year, and an estimated 7-10% of people worldwide. It is caused by damaged or dysfunctional nerve fibers sending aberrant signals to pain centers in the central nervous system causing severe pain that affects daily life and routine. The mechanisms underlying NP are not fully understood, making treatment difficult. Identification of specific molecular pathways that are involved in pain syndromes and finding effective treatments has become a major priority in current SCI research. Yoga has therapeutic applications that may prove beneficial in treating subjects suffering chronically from SCI-induced NP, chronic back and associated pain if necessary experimental data are generated. Summary: This review aims to discuss the implications of various mechanistic approaches of yoga which can be tested by new study designs around various nociceptive molecules including matrix metalloproteinases, cation-dependent chloride transporter (NKCC1), etc. in SCI-induced NP patients. Key Messages: Yogic practices could be used in managing SCI-induced NP pain by regulating the action of various mechanisms and its associated molecules. Modern prescriptive treatment strategies combined with alternative approaches like yoga should be used in rehabilitation centers and clinics in order to ameliorate chronic NP. We recommend practical considerations of careful yoga practice as part of an integrative medicine approach for NP associated with SCI.

This essay cluster features two essays by students and faculty collaborators describing the ways in which new forms of pedagogical practices are expanding and changing the field of Digital Humanities. Each essay takes a different approach that reveals the importance of pedagogy in bringing social justice to the digital humanities. One pedagogical approach lies in the design and development of a game that shows the experience of transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming youth, and the other emphasizes the significance of the Digital Humanities Summer Institute in offering a space to develop and teach a theory of inclusive and activist digital pedagogy. Taken together, these essays demonstrate that transforming DH into a politically engaged, socially just, and inclusive field is an ongoing process of teaching and learning in new and traditional places, forms, communities, organizations, and institutions. Kimberly O’Donnell responds to these papers as a graduate student and Digital Fellow at Simon Fraser University, offering her perspective on the challenges and necessity of creating these transformative pedagogical spaces. Résumé Ce regroupement de dissertations se compose de deux dissertations écrites par des étudiants et membres de faculté collaborateurs qui décrivent les façons dont de nouvelles types de pratiques pédagogiques étendent et changent le domaine des Humanités numériques. Chaque dissertation adopte une approche différente qui démontre l’importance de la pédagogie pour l’intégration de la justice sociale dans les humanités numériques. Pour une approche pédagogique, il s’agit de la conception et du développement d’un jeu qui montre l’expérience de jeunes transgenres, de jeunes non-binaires et de jeunes dont le genre est non conforme, tandis que l’autre approche souligne l’importance du 'Digital Humanities Summer Institute'(Institut d’été des humanités numériques) dans l’offre d’un endroit pour le développement et pour l’enseignement d’une théorie pédagogique numérique inclusive et activiste.
