Ondřej Lánský The Examination of One Form of the Atlantic Modernization's Moral Background Abstract This thesis deals with critique of fundamental moral pattern of the Atlantic social space, that shapes some important features of social, political, and human action in the global era and endorses legitimacy of the reigning social order. The main task of this thesis is to show pathological moments of the contemporary development of global society through comparison of some constitutive features of Atlantic and Latin-American societies. The most important theoretical basis for this thesis is Axel Honneth's theory of recognition. As articulations of constitutive features of social normativity (ergo as expressions of shared social imaginaries of social configuration) are used chosen social philosophical concepts: John Rawls' liberalism and Enrique Dussel's philosophy of liberation. The thesis contains therefore four steps in three main chapters. Firstly the author sociologically analyzes the concept of social esteem in the context of theory of recognition. Secondly he examines John Rawls' normative theory of justice. Ve své diplomové práci jsem zabýval sociální teorií významného německého kritického teoretika Axela Honnetha. Konkrétně jsem se zaměřil na dva problémy, které považuji v konceptuálním prostoru Honnethovy teorie uznání za velmi aktuální a naléhavé. Za prvé jsem se zabýval interpretací důsledků významného pojmového posunu, který do jisté míry Axel Honneth ve své teorii provedl v posledním desetiletí: sociální ocenění vnímá jako rozdělenou kategorii, v které z hlediska kritiky pozdně-kapitalistické společenské formy hraje podstatnější roli studium a analýza výkonu. Za druhé bylo cílem mé studie anticipovat předpokládanou transpozici Honnethovy teorie uznání na globální rovinu. S tímto problémem jsem se zde vyrovnal především na rovině zdůvodnění globálního redistribuce jako základního pnnc1pu kosmopolitní spravedlnosti. Everything is somehow connected to work: we are working on ourselves, on our bodies, on our relationships and it significantly affects our perception of the world. The definition of work and what it implies has dramatically changed in the course of time and hence new challenges have appeared. In March 2020, the Czech Republic began to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic, a state of emergency was repeatedly declared in the Czech Republic and various measures were taken. These measures included: restrictions on physical (and with it social) contact, restrictions on tourism, business and services, work obligations for students of pedagogical and medical faculties, school closures and the transition to distance learning, and much more. This work is devoted to qualitative research among medical students, whose studies have been significantly disrupted by distance learning, interruption of internships and the announcement of work duties. The main goal of this work is to find out what risks related to the Covid-19 pandemic are perceived by medical students themselves in terms of their studies and future practice? As part of the qualitative research that I will prepare and implement, semi-structured interviews with 6 students of the last two years of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University will be evaluated. This thesis is focused on the issue of the anniversary of November 17, specifically from the point of view of teaching at the primary school in Kunratice. In the first part, the reader is briefly acquainted with the school curriculum and its development, the anchoring of project teaching and support of this method of teaching at Kunratice Elementary School. The next part of the work consists of an analysis of the events of November 17, 1939 and 1989, scrutinizing these events from the present perspective, and subsequent generalization of the topic with concepts and facts from a didactic perspective. The main part of the work deals with the preparation of project teaching on the mentioned topic with applying methods of self-teaching and evaluation of the impact of the project. The result of this work are two cases of project teaching, including the process of preparation and development of methodology from the perspective of a member of the preparatory team, team leader and then from the perspective of a class teacher who implements the teaching in his class. This thesis focuses on the form of the discourse of nationalism in educational materials, specifically in selected history and civics textbooks for primary schools. The aim of the paper is not to cover all available educational materials in the Czech school environment, but to conduct a probe into textbooks from selected subjects from one publisher, which serves as a sample. There are subtle forms of nationalism that are part of public discourse, and the thesis will map these forms in the textbooks as manifestations of the discourse of nationalism, which seeks to shape national identity, among other things. Therefore, the work follows in these textbooks their language, the topics they choose, the ways in which they report on the topics and the other media they use (e.g. visual documents). The thesis examines the aforementioned elements of the textbooks through qualitative analysis, specifically critical discourse analysis. The main question that the thesis seeks to answer is which discursive means are used to form Czech national identity, and whether this identity also includes an ethnocentric view of the world. In the first part, the Diploma Thesis describes feminism in general, its development and opinions about it that were built over the years and had the biggest impact on emancipation of women in our country and even all around the world. The second part of the Thesis is focused on the practical part of these views, specifically how these theories were applied to the education of women in Rokycany, a city in West Bohemia. In addition, Thesis also follows the emancipation of women at school and the development of women's education in Rokycany. It summarizes the origin and development of the Rokycany grammar school and the involvement of women in schooling. Thesis also mentions Ludmila association and its influence and efforts to emancipate women in a number of other schools in the Rokycany area. The bachelor thesis "Gender v české politice" deal with women's situation in czech politics. The aim of thesis is to acquaint a reader with an issue with low number of female politicians and find out position of choosen political parties to female question. Theoretical part of thesis is divided into three parts. The first part defines fundamental terms like gender, gender stereotype and feminism. Evolution of single waves of feminism is also briefly characterized there. The second part talks about an issue with low number of women in czech politics. We take attention to glass ceiling efect. The main goal of this diploma thesis is based on conceptual analysis and empirical research to assess the suitability of the concept of poverty culture (Oscar Lewis) for analyzing the situation of socially excluded people - specifically Roma - in the Czech Republic with emphasis on education. In the first part of the work I will focus on the analysis of key terms and concepts related to racism, ethnicity and especially the culture of poverty. The second part is devoted to the issue of Roma education in the Czech Republic. I will use the knowledge from these parts as a basis for the operationalization of the given conceptual field into a form usable for empirical research. The last part introduces the implementation of a qualitative research probe between teachers and teaching assistants in a selected socially excluded locality, which focuses mainly on their work motivation and approach to socially excluded localities, etc. My research shows that the concept of Oscar Lewis can be applied in a school environment.

The subject of this thesis is the structure of society and its didactic elaboration. The first few chapters are focused on Czech curriculum documents and three chosen foreign curricula (England, New Zealand, Australia) and provides an analysis of how these documents deal with the subject of the structure of society. The results of these analyses are compared with each other afterwards. The next part of the thesis deals with EU Council recommendations for the development of key student competencies. These competencies are then compared to the approach to student competencies in the Czech curriculum. One chapter is focused on textbooks for upper secondary schools and their approach to the structure of society. This is followed up with a chapter about Czech sociological research going into this subject, the results of these studies are presented here. The last part of this thesis contains teaching suggestions for the education of the structure of society at upper secondary schools. The principles of pedagogical constructivism are explained first, followed up by two activities based on the results of the analyses of curriculum documents and the results of sociological research presented earlier. The bachelor thesis deals with the creation of the Czech Pirate Party from 2009 to 2019. The aim of the work is to provide a comprehensive view of this political party. The work is divided into four parts. The first part offers the historical context of the international emergence of the Czech Pirate Party ideology and focuses attention on the establishment and development of the Party with its election results. The second part is dedicated to the internal structure of the party, organisation and decision-making processes. The third part deals with the political marketing of the Czech Pirate Party with the emphasis of the political campaign in the 2017 elections. This bachelor thesis addresses the formation and evolution of the political party PODEMOS from 2014 until 2020. The main purpose is to present a balanced and integrated view of this Spain's leftist party. The whole thesis is divided into three parts. The first one, which is theoretical, provides a historical and political context of the party PODEMOS. The second part covers the formation, organization, funding sources and programmes of the party, paying special attention to the transformation from the civil movement (15M) to the organised party. The third part deals with the parliamentary terms between 2014 and 2019, dealing with development activities undertaken by the party and their election outcomes.

The thesis is focused on research on teaching controversial issues in civic education. The aim is to examine the utilization of controversies in classes and the analysis of the application of various methods using controversies. In the first part the theoretical base of the thesis was defined and also the importance of integrating controversial topics was explained. Moreover, the anchorage in curricular documents was presented and also the psychological theories of development of thinking and moral together with different methods were described. In the second part, the methodological base of the thesis was stated and one concrete lesson with the topic of gender and stereotypes was drafted. The qualitative research took place in two classes of secondary school in the form of active observations of students and structured interviews with their teachers of civic education. The results show some differences in students' competences according to the amount of integration of controversial topics in classes. In this diploma thesis Suicide yesterday and today I focus on the topis of suicide in the point of view of social studies. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, I analyze three theoretical works dealing with suicide and suicide, namely the works of Emil Durkheim, Tomas Garrigue Masaryk and the collective works of Luděk Brož, Daniel Münster and other theorists. In the first part, I conclude that in the theoretical field there is no consensus on the interpretation of the causes of suicide. In the second part of my work I compare this three theoretical works and I also present the conclusions of the theoretical probe, which I developed in this work. This part is divided into thematic chapters according to possible causes of suicide, which I came to mainly based on the theoretical part. In the second part, I try to connect and compare scientific-theoretical views on suicide and unscientific views. The aim of the theoretical probe was not to find answers to questions related to the issue of suicide, its aim was to bring new perspectives to the discussion concerning suicide. The aim of the work was a political-historical description of development of the Communist Party of the Czechoslovakia in 1939-1945. The work in the beginning summarizes general political concepts, describes the Protectorate life, where was formed a communist resistance against the Nazis. It also includes a development of the Communist Party, its responses to major events that took place during World War II and the links with the Soviet Union, which had a major influence on the Communist Party of the Czechoslovakia. The used methods were mainly analysis and comparison of literature, period press and documents. This Master's thesis is depicting the development of the National Liberal Party, from the earliest stage in the 1860s, up to the year 1914. This depiction is based on expert texts as well as historical and political science literature. The thesis is focused on the political background in Austria and subsequently also Austria-Hungary. The historical part of the thesis is primarily focused on the absolute regime, as well as the national efforts to liberalize the constitutional and political demands. A standalone part of the thesis is dedicated to the division between the Old Czech Party and the Young Czech Party, primarily focusing on their political differences and shared nationalism. The establishment of the National Liberal Party in 1874 was followed by its political and agenda development. The political development is depicted in its election results, as well as its functioning in the parliament of Cisleithania. Since 1879, both the Old Czech Party and the Young Czech Party participated in defending the human rights in Vienna's Czechen-Club. The year 1891 brought about a large change when the National Liberal Party won in the election against the National Party and so became the hegemon of Czech politics. The aim of the proposed work is to verify the hypothesis based on Jonathan Haidt's Moral Foundations Theory, which says that the wider the range of the so-called moral foundations a political party addresses with its programme, the higher its chances of a good election result. This hypothesis is examined within the framework of Czech political reality. The first part of the work introduces Haidt's Theory of Moral Foundations and examines the question of its applicability to the Czech political sphere. In the next step, the mentioned theory is used (with the help of appropriate operationalization) as a means of analysing the election results of Czech political parties in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament in 2017 in order to verify this hypothesis. The programme points of the election programmes of ten Czech political parties are subjected to the analysis. These are the parties that, according to pre-election surveys, had the greatest chance of exceeding the 5 % electoral threshold for joining the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic (i. e. ANO 2011, ČSSD, ODS, SPD, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL KSČM, STAN, Pirate Party and Green Party). This master's thesis explores how job automation has influenced a selected bank branch workplace and what role gender plays in this process. The thesis is based on a case study focused on a team from one anonymized Czech branch of an international bank where robots are being introduced into the work process. Between November 2018 and February 2019, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six members of this team and obtained data were subjected to an analysis, the results of which are presented in this thesis. Interview questions revolved around changes in the workplace and the evaluation of these changes by the employees. The thesis therefore examines, among other things, whether robots have had any impact on working hours or workplace interpersonal relationships, what control tools narrators have had to monitor the work process, how robots have highlighted existing gender inequalities in the workplace and what issues have arisen after their implementation. The case study has pointed out the importance of further, closer inspection of robot implementation cases, each of which may be affected by a number of specific elements. The thesis deals with the general problematic aspects of posting workers within the European Union in connection with the European Commission's proposal for a revision of Directive 96/71/EC and analyses the structure of selected discourse in the debate on the given proposal. Posting, in this thesis, is regarded as a specific manifestation of the phenomenon of deterritorialization, with an emphasis on posting workers to the Czech Republic. The phenomenon of deterritorialization is considered here in three basic forms: firstly, as the deterritorialization of the modern (European) state, secondly as the deterritorialization of its borders, and thirdly as the deterritorialization of labour. The thesis employs the method of critical discourse analysis and the discourse-historical approach developed by Ruth Wodak. It focuses on an analysis of the social, historical and political context of the issue of posting workers using selected theories dealing with the phenomenon of deterritorialization and posting workers in the EU. The thesis focuses on professional and didactical points of view on digitalization in high school social science education. The aim of the thesis is to create a series of lessons for high schools (grammar schools) based on research on digitalization, which is supposed to aid students in better orientation at the labour market. At the same time, the didactical part is designed to be used and adapted by teachers interested in the topic. The theoretical part presents the professional background of the prepared lessons including key words, corresponding arguments and the general work basis of the author. Professional topics are transformed into a form didactically appropriate at the chosen level of secondary education (grammar schools). The practical part consists of a series of lessons focusing on changes in the labour market related to digitalization and technology development. The thesis analyses the Institute of the President of the Czech Republic in the Czech and Slovak Republics from 1993 to 2017. Main focus of the thesis is the comparison of the position of the Presidents of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. The thesis look closer general position of head of states in the political systems, the election of the president, the introduction of a direct election in the Czech Republic, their authority, responsibility, termination of service and real application of presidential powers. The diploma thesis focuses on the media image of the presidents, their popularity, media cases and public opinion. The thesis also aims at the organized comparison of the powers and position of the presidents of both countries between 1993 and 2017, identification of identical or different features. The diploma thesis is based on the presentation of adaptation courses as a specific form of primary prevention of bullying in a school class. The thesis concerns with the adaptation courses methodology of Agentura Wenku s. r. o. These courses emphasize cranking of processes which are essential for healthy functioning of the school class. The positive climate which is created during the courses help to minimalize the appearance of risk behaviour such as bullying. The first part of the thesis introduces bullying in the school environment, forms of its prevention and the importance of positive social climate in a school class for functioning of prevention programmes such as adaptation course. The methodology created by Agentura Wenku s. r. o. is described in detail in the second part of the thesis. The thesis describes didactic process and specific games which are used by the agency in its programme including Zpětné vazby (feedback) - a reflexive method which differs the adaptations courses of Agentura Wenku s. r. o. programmes from other courses offered by competing agencies. The last part analyses the results of a brief survey of the attitude of teachers concerning the discussed topic. The subject of this thesis is the media, its history and function, and some other specific associated terms (in particular, the concept of objectivity and the theory of agenda- setting). In my thesis, I will also address the relationship between the media and politics. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to analyze the work of three Czech journals (Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta DNES, Právo), and two television newscasts (Televizní noviny on TV Nova and Události České televize), in each case focusing on the theme of the American presidential election within a defined period of time (7. 11. 2016 - 13. 11. 2016). The core of the analysis consists of observing the proportion of total space and time that was dedicated to the topic, and in this analysis, I will focus on objectivity, or on the occurrence of the tabloid features. This thesis occupies itself with the background of the idea of czechoslovakian state through the outlook of national revival and perspective of T. G. Masaryk. The goal is to inquire how the individual components change in time between 19th and beginning of 20th century. For that purpose methods of analysis and comparison of primary texts of authors who occupied themselves with the topic are used. Contribution of this work is in looking at the problem through the lenses of contemporary documents. Main finding is that some of the arguments on which the idea of czechoslovakian state lays are not very solid.

This diploma thesis deals with the influence of the totalitarian regime on musical production in Czechoslovakia between 1968 and 1989. The aim is to explore various ways which the communist regime used to regulate or prevent the propagation of selected musical genres. The power of the totalitarian regime is shown in specific cases, such as censorship, preventing concerts, physical attacts during performances, arrests, artificial processes, media influence, nationwide actions against musicians or music bands, state institutions, etc. The work shoes how the communist regime avoided accepting any independent behavior in the society. At the same time, there are analyzed both articles in the media and state security reports, etc., and some texts reflecting political events in the particular period and current professional work on this topic.
