Abstract

In this contribution, new data concerning bryophytes, fungi, and lichens of the Italian flora are presented. It includes new records and confirmations for the bryophyte genera Barbula, Fissidens, Gymnostomum, Jungermannia, Riccia, and Scapania, the fungal genera Hyalopsora and Urocystis and the lichen genera Arthothelium, Chaenotheca, Lepraria, Lobaria, Miriquidica, Parmelia, Rinodina, Solenopsora, Thelopsis and Xanthoparmelia.

2. Ecological aspects of the bryoflora of some ravines of the Umbro‐Marchegian Apennines

Abstract

The goal of this study was to broaden current floristic understanding of five ravines, with different altitudes and characteristics, present along the Umbro‐Marchegian Apennine chain, and to examine how the distribution of the bryoflora is conditioned by geomorphological and microclimatic aspects, as well as man’s intervention. The flora list derives almost exclusively from unpublished data of explorations conducted in 2006 and 2007. Initial analysis of this list indicates that the bryoflora is more characterized by the presence of the river at the base of the ravine than by the size of the ravine itself, for there is a considerable number of species of aquatic and stillicidous environments, rather than species related to climatic factors. In addition, the imperviousness of the ravines limits the presence of tourists, which generally determines the entrance of cosmopolite species of high ecological importance, reducing the quality of a given ecosystem. Abstract

La nuova Lista Rossa della flora Italiana comprende tutte le "policy" specie italiane e altre specie di nota conservazione e comprende 400 taxa di cui il 65% sono minacciate di estinzione. La Lista Rossa si basa su un enorme data-set georeferenziato utile per gli scopi di conservazione. - The New Red List of the Italian Flora includes all the Italian policy species and other species of known conservation concerns for a total of 400 taxa, 65% of which are threatened with extinction. The Red List is based on a huge georeferenced data-set useful for conservation purposes.

Abstract

The marine environment is characterized by high salinity and exerts a strong selective pressure on the biota, favouring the development of halo-tolerant microorganisms. Part of this microbial diversity is made up of fungi, important organisms from ecological and biotechnological points of view. In this study, for the first time, the qualitative and quantitative composition of the mycoflora associated to leaves, rhizomes, roots and matte of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica was estimated. A total of 88 fungal taxa, mainly belonging to Ascomycota, were identified by morphological and molecular methods. The most represented genera were Penicillium, Cladosporium and Acremonium. Most of the species (70) were selectively associated with one district; only two species (Penicillium chrysogenum var. chrysogenum and P. janczewskii) were isolated from all the districts. Moreover the capability to produce laccases, peroxidases and tannases by 107 fungal isolated by the different districts of P. oceanica was carried out. These results show that the mycoflora associated to P. oceanica is very rich and characterized by fungi able to produce ligninolytic enzymes and tannases useful to degrade and detoxify lignocellulose residues in presence of high salt concentrations.
