Abstract

From 2004 to 2017, the Cassini spacecraft orbited Saturn, completing 127 close flybys of its largest moon, Titan. Cassini's Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS), one of 12 instruments carried on board, profiled Titan in the thermal infrared (7-1000 microns) throughout the entire 13-year mission. CIRS observed on both targeted encounters (flybys) and more distant opportunities, collecting 8.4 million spectra from 837 individual Titan observations over 3633 hours. Observations of multiple types were made throughout the mission, building up a vast mosaic picture of Titan's atmospheric state across spatial and temporal domains. This paper provides a guide to these observations, describing each type and chronicling its occurrences and global-seasonal coverage. The purpose is to provide a resource for future users of the CIRS data set, as well as those seeking to put existing CIRS publications into the overall context of the mission, and to facilitate future inter-comparison of CIRS results with those of other Cassini instruments, and ground-based observations., Comment: 62 pages, 31 figures, 10 tables. Abstract

International audience; The exploitation of soft conducting polymer-based actuators suffers from two main shortcomings: their short life cycle and the reproducibility of the fabrication techniques. The short life cycle usually results from the delamination of the components due to stresses at the interface during the actuation. In this work, to achieve strong adhesion to poly(3,4- ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) electrodes, the wetting properties of the surface of a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane are improved using argon-plasma-induced surface polymerization of poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA). Hybrid membranes are created with hydrophilic PVDF-graft-PEGMA outer surfaces and hydrophobic bulk. The width of each layer is controlled by spray coating, as it allows for the deposition of the reaction precursor to a certain depth. Subsequently, a PEDOT:PSS water solution fills the pores of the functionalized part of the membrane and a mixing layer between PEDOT:PSS and PVDF is created. We also show that PVDF-graft-PEGMA copolymers play an important role in binding the membrane to the electrodes and that direct mechanical interlocking in the pores can further improve the adhesion. Finally, PEDOT:PSS/PVDF-graft-PEGMA/PEDOT:PSS actuators are made by simple solution casting. They are capable of producing high strains of 0.6% and show no signs of delamination after more than 150 h or 104 actuation cycles. Furthermore, the preservation of the hydrophobic membrane in between two PEDOT:PSS layers increases the resistance between them from 0.36 Ω to 0.16 MΩ, thus drastically modifying the power dissipation of the actuators.

Abstract

International audience; Industry employs agile methods more widely, mainly in software development companies. This paper tackles the point of transferring agile methods from software to systems engineering, which raises several questions: Is the transfer immediate, and if not, what are the difficulties? Does the agility refer to the product, the processes, or the project? Do systems engineering standards promote or suggest a kind of agility? Among this panel of questions, a first natural step consists of analyzing if systems engineering standards and guides already include agility in the practices they recommend and what kind of agility. The paper thus focuses on the analysis of one of the most famous current systems engineering standards, the ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 (2015), with the goal to detect any explicit or implicit reference to agility in this document.Agile methods are beginning to spread in industry; these methods are mainly used in companies whose business is software development. Fields like systems engineering are contemplating these methods to manage the systems engineering technical processes and to lead projects in complex systems development, but some issues must be overcome before implementing such approaches in this domain. Agile methods really emerged with the dissemination of the Agile Manifesto in 2001; however, this document does not give any formal definition of the agile concept, and is clearly focused on software engineering. Abstract

International audience; This article proposes a Methodology to transform Needs into Requirements, integrating System Engineering, Quality and Lean Thinking domains. The chosen methodology to carry out the research work was qualitative methods applied through the strategies of case study and questionnaires. The general objective was to develop a methodology, based on System Engineering, to document stakeholder requirements, add value to analysis and design processes, and assure system quality. The methodology was first developed through waterfall model and, when integrating Quality and Lean Thinking, through the incremental evolutionary model. The principal contribution is to provide support to analysis and design teams while translating needs into requirements, through a formal and structured methodology that integrates different domains. The objective was achieved when applying the methodology and its tools in one case study: value was added to the process; the resulting documentation will allow to reuse the information for future developments. Improvement opportunities were detected as the necessity of applying complementary forms, to automatize the tool, and to develop more case studies.; Este artículo propone una Metodología para transformar Necesidades en Requisitos, integrando Ingeniería de Sistemas, Calidad y Pensamiento Esbelto. La elección metodológica fue de métodos cualitativos al aplicar las estrategias de cuestionario y caso de estudio. El objetivo general fue desarrollar una metodología, fundamentada en la Ingeniería de Sistemas, para documentar los requisitos de los individuos u organizaciones que tienen derecho, parte, reclamo o interés en el sistema (stakeholders), agregar valor a los procesos de análisis y diseño, y asegurar la calidad del sistema. La metodología fue desarrollada inicialmente a través del modelo de cascada y, posteriormente del modelo incremental evolutivo al integrar Calidad y Pensamiento Esbelto. La principal contribución se centra en apoyar a los equipos de análisis y diseño de sistemas, al traducir las necesidades en requisitos por medio de una metodología formal y estructurada que combina diferentes áreas del conocimiento. Al aplicar la metodología y sus herramientas, en un caso práctico, se alcanzó el objetivo: agregar valor al proceso; la documentación generada permitirá el reuso de la información para el desarrollo de futuros sistemas. Abstract

International audience; This book explores the implications of acknowledging uncertainty and black swans for regulation of high-hazard technologies, for stakeholder acceptability of potentially hazardous activities and for risk governance. The conventional approach to risk assessment, which combines the likelihood of an event and the severity of its consequences, is poorly suited to situations where uncertainty and ambiguity are prominent features of the risk landscape. The new definition of risk used by ISO, “the effect of uncertainty on [achievement of] one’s objectives”, recognizes this paradigm change. What lessons can we draw from the management of fire hazards in Edo-era Japan? Are there situations in which increasing uncertainty allows more effective safety management? Abstract

During cyclic actuation, conducting polymer based artificial muscles are often creeping from the initial movement range. One of the likely reasons of such behaviour is unbalanced charging during conducting polymer oxidation and reduction. To improve the actuation reversibility and subsequently the long time performance of ionic actuators, we suggest using spray-coated carbon nanotube (CNT) carpets on the surface of the conducting polymer electrodes. We show that carbon nanotubes facilitate a conducting polymer redox reaction and improve its reversibility. Consequently, in the long term, charge accumulation in the polymer film is avoided leading to a significantly improved lifetime performance during cycling actuation. To our knowledge, it is the first time a simple solution to an actuator creeping problem has been suggested.

But controlling such kind of actuators is not trivial. The paper presents an implementation of iterative Linear Quadratic regulator (iLQR) based optimal control framework to control an anthropomorphic arm with each joint actuated by an agonist-antagonistic pair of Mckibben artificial muscles. The method is applied to positioning tasks and generation of explosive movements by maximizing the link speed. It is then compared to traditional control strategies to justify that optimal control is effective in controlling the position in highly non-linear pneumatic systems. Also the importance of varying compliance is highlighted by repeating the tasks at different compliance level. The algorithm validation is reported here by several simulations and hardware experiments in which the shoulder and elbow flexion are controlled simultaneously.

Explosive motions like throwing, kicking or jumping are some of the ambitious tasks interesting for researchers. In the present paper, we would like to present a ball throwing task performed by an anthropomorphic arm with each joint actuated by an agonist-antagonistic pair of Mckibben artificial muscles. Abstract

We have analyzed spectroscopic observations of Titan performed in January 1997 by the Short Wavelength Spectrometer (SWS) on the Infrared Space Observatory in the wavelength range from 5.3 to 7.0 μm (1422–1890 cm −1 ). This spectral interval is of particular interest because it contains various molecular transitions, particularly the ν 2 band of CH 4 and the ν 8 band of C 2 H 6 , as well as a spectral feature characteristic of the laboratory analogs of Titan’s haze—or tholins—which have been studied for decades. In addition, this region is expected to show the transition between the thermal emission and reflected sunlight regimes of Titan’s atmospheric radiation around 6 μm. All these features are indeed observed in the SWS spectrum, for the first time in the case of the ν 2 band of CH 4 at 6.5 μm. We present a radiative transfer model of these observations from which we derive the extinction cross section of the haze particles at 140 ± 20 km altitude. This result complements similar determinations recently obtained at shorter and longer wavelengths from Cassini VIMS and CIRS measurements, although large uncertainties still remain at 1700–1800 cm −1 , as well as a gap at 1800–2000 cm −1 . A comparison between the available extinction cross section determinations for the Titan haze and those derived for laboratory-synthesized tholins, from the near- to the far-infrared, shows some similarities but also striking discrepancies, thus reinforcing the idea that there is not a unique tholin analogue to the Titan haze material.

Abstract

The 18-cm radio lines of the OH radical were observed in comet 103P/Hartley 2 with the Nan\c{c}ay radio telescope in support to its flyby by the EPOXI mission and to observations with the Herschel Space Observatory. The OH lines were detected from 24 September to 15 December 2010. These observations are used to estimate the gas expansion velocity within the coma to 0.83 \pm 0.08 km/s in October 2010. The water production increased steeply but progressively before perihelion, and reached 1.9 \pm 0.3 X 10E28 s-1 just before the EPOXI flyby., Comment: Accepted for publication in Icarus (6 pages, 4 figures)

Abstract

International audience; Earth-like planets have viscoelastic mantles, whereas giant planets may have viscoelastic cores. As for the fluid parts of a body, the tidal dissipation of such solid regions, gravitationally perturbed by a companion body, highly depends on the tidal frequency, as well as on the rheology. Therefore, modelling tidal interactions presents a high interest to provide constraints on planet properties, and to understand their history and their evolution. Here, we examine the equilibrium tide in the solid core of a planet, taking into account the presence of a fluid envelope. We explain how to obtain the different Love numbers that describe its deformation. Next, we discuss how the quality factor Q depends on the chosen viscoelastic model. Finally, we show how the results may be implemented to describe the dynamical evolution of planetary systems.

Abstract

Part 3: Adaptive Approaches to Guarantee E2E Network Services; International audience; Wireless networks are more and more popular, and more specifically as the access technology for all wireless devices generally used (laptops, smartphones, tablets, sensors, ...). It is then frequent to encounter at least one wireless network segment on a communication path. Because of the complexity and limits of the hertzian air medium, the end-to-end communication is impacted by the quality of such wireless networks which are not offering the same amount of resources or the same determinism in the quality of Service (QoS) level. Because of the complexity of the physical transmission mechanisms, and of the MAC layer, traffic observed at the network level can have unexpected characteristics and the network exhibits unexpected performances and QoS. At the opposite of wired network for which monitoring packets at network level is enough, monitoring wireless networks requires to look at physical, MAC and network layers all together and to analyze their correlation levels: this is called cross-layered monitoring in the related literature. This paper then proposes an overview of the monitoring of the quite unknown physical layers of wireless networks, and exhibits how the studies of the 3 layers are necessary for analyzing the wireless network behavior, and more generally of the end-to-end connections. As an example, this paper illustrates how the SNR impacts the delays and jitters in an unexpected way in wireless networks, thus impacting end-to-end delays and jitters.

Comets provide clues to the physical and chemical conditions in the early Solar System. A powerful tool to image the spatial distribution of gaseous species in their inner atmosphere is from millimetre spectroscopy using interferometry techniques. Unique data were acquired in comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) at the IRAM Plateau de Bure interferometer. During my thesis, I concentrated on the data acquired on the H2S, SO, CS and CO molecules to study their radial extension as well as the coma structure. I showed that H2S and CO are released by the nucleus. The radial distribution of CS emission is consistent with CS being produced from CS2 photolysis. The observed SO distribution is more extended than that expected if created by the photodissociation of SO2. This suggests that another source of SO is present in the coma or that at least part of SO2 is released by an extended source. The H2S outgassing is almost uniform at the nucleus surface, while part of the CS and SO molecules are concentrated in a high latitude jet. Using a physical model of the coma, I showed that the strong CO spiralling structure originating near the nucleus equator reflects a strong inhomogeneity in CO outgassing at the nucleus surface and not a shock structure created by shape and topography effects. The differences between the outgassing patterns of the different species may indicate that the nucleus composition is inhomogeneous. Tools and methods used during this study will be useful to prepare and analyse future observations of comets in millimetre interferometry.; Les comètes nous renseignent sur les conditions physico-chimiques du Système Solaire en formation. Abstract

UML language allows the description of complex computerized systems whose safety is often critical. During design of such applications, modelling faults can be introduced in UML diagrams representing several views of the system. These faults can lead to inconsistencies between diagrams and within a single diagram. In addition to the properties specific to the application, the models first have to be ensured to be consistent with respect to the properties induced by the use of the UML language. This tesis aims at proposing a framework of study of the actual version of the language (UML 2.0), adopting a risk management approach to consider the presence of inconsistencies. This work consists of two main steps. The first one is a risk analysis which implies an identification of the harmful events that are the inconsistencies, by the expression of the associated consistency rules. The analysis is then completed by a risk estimation of the use of each UML feature. This step led to the analysis of the UML specification and of the actual work concerning the definition and the checking of UML models consistency. Interviews and feedback have been done in order to estimate the probability of occurrence of an inconsistency and its severity, as well qualitatively as quantitatively. The last step addressed the assistance for the risk treatment, advocating the use of prevention and protection guidelines during the modelling of safety critical systems.; Le langage UML permet la description de systèmes informatiques complexes dont la sécurité est parfois critique. Lors de la conception de telles applications, des fautes de modélisation peuvent être introduites dans les diagrammes UML représentant différentes vues du système. Ces fautes peuvent mener à des incohérences entre diagrammes ou au sein même d'un seul diagramme. Outre les propriétés spécifiques de l'application, il convient de vérifier en premier lieu que les modèles sont cohérents vis-à-vis des propriétés induites par l'utilisation du langage UML. L'objectif de cette thèse est de proposer un cadre d'étude du langage, et plus particulièrement de sa version actuelle (UML 2.0), en se plaçant dans une démarche de Management du risque de la présence d'incohérences. Ce travail s'est décomposé en deux étapes principales. La première est une analyse du risque qui comporte une identification des événements dommageables que sont les incohérences, par l'expression des règles de cohérence associées. L'analyse est complétée ensuite par l'estimation du risque associé à l'utilisation de chaque construction d'UML. Cette étape a donné lieu à l'analyse du standard UML et des travaux actuels concernant la définition et la vérification de la cohérence des modèles UML. Des interviews et des retours d'expérience ont été effectués afin d'estimer la probabilité d'occurrence d'une incohérence et sa gravité, aussi bien qualitativement que quantitativement. L'étape ultime a concerné l'aide au traitement des risques, par la proposition de guides de prévention et de protection à mettre en oeuvre lors de la modélisation d'applications logicielles critiques.

Abstract

International audience; Our objective is to prove the feasibility of transforming the chemical energy of molecules that are naturally present in the organism in a mechanical energy that can be used to compensate for failure of physiological functions. We propose to explore the potential of osmotic energy, which is an interesting intermediate between chemical energy and mechanical energy, and to test an OSMOTOR (OSMOTic MOTOR). The (patented) principle of OSMOTOR is to induce cyclic variations of osmolarity in two compartments that are separated by a semi-permeable membrane. The variation of osmolarity results in movements of liquid under pressure, which corresponds to a retrievable mechanical work. The device is designed to be implanted in the human organism, from which it is separated by semi-permeable membranes that let nutriments necessary for the activity of the OSMOTOR flow in, and that let waste flow out. The membranes also protect the organism from the substances contained inside the OSMOTOR, and the latter from the defence mechanisms of the organism.

Abstract

International audience; The introduction of any new technology in an existing industrial process has a dual effect: on the one hand, it is expected to bring some well-identified benefits, but on the other hand, it also brings a certain number of new risks. It is the role and responsibility of decision makers, designers, and developers to estimate and balance these two aspects, taking into account the very specific characteristics of their industrial domain. In the domain of software systems, for instance, object-oriented technologies have been demonstrated to increase software quality and productivity, but they simultaneously bring some specific risks that must be carefully characterized and handled, especially when they are integrated in the development of software applications for critical systems. In the avionics domain, the OOTiA document proposes a first and informal identification of some of these risks. However this identification process misses the formal background that would guarantee its consistency and completeness. In this paper, we suggest to fill this gap by considering the management of software risk as a specific case of industrial risk management. To achieve this goal, we propose a generic model for the identification of software risks. This model provides the information required by the subsequent phases of risk management: risk estimation, risk acceptance, and risk mitigation.

Abstract

International audience; Braided pneumatic artificial muscles, and in particular the better known type with a double helical braid usually called the McKibben muscle, seem to be at present the best means for motorizing robot-arms with artificial muscles. Their ability to develop high maximum force associated with lightness and a compact cylindrical shape, as well as their analogical behavior with natural skeletal muscle were very well emphasized in the 1980s by the development of the Bridge-stone " soft robot " actuated by " rubbertuators ". Recent publications have presented ways for modeling McKibben artificial muscle as well as controlling its highly non-linear dynamic behavior. However , fewer studies have concentrated on analyzing the integration of artificial muscles with robot-arm architectures since the first Bridge-stone prototypes were designed. In this paper we present the design of a 7R anthropomorphic robot-arm entirely actuated by antagonistic McKibben artificial muscle pairs. The validation of the robot-arm architecture was performed in a teleoperation mode.

Abstract

International audience; Medical robots perform complex tasks and share their working area with humans. Therefore , they belong to safety critical systems. In nowadays development process, safety is often managed by the way of dependability techniques. We propose a new global approach , based on the risk concept in order to guide designers along the safety analysis of such complex systems. Safety depends on risk management activity, which core is risk analysis. This one consists in three steps: system definition, hazard identification and risk estimation. We first propose the use of UML (Unified Modeling Language) as the description language. Then, for the next steps, interactions of UML and risk analysis techniques such as FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis) are studied. As an illustration of its potentiality, the proposed approach has been applied to the case study of a system for robotic tele-echography (ultrasound scan examination).

Abstract

International audience; Safety is now a major concern in many complex systems such as medical robots. A way to control the complexity of such systems is to manage risk. The first and important step of this activity is risk analysis. During risk analysis, two main studies concerning human factors must be integrated: task analysis and human error analysis. This multidisciplinary analysis often leads to a work sharing between several stakeholders who use their own languages and techniques. This often produces consistency errors and understanding difficulties between them. Hence, this paper proposes to treat the risk analysis on the common expression language UML (Unified Modeling Language) and to handle human factors concepts for task analysis and human error analysis based on the features of this language. The approach is applied to the development of a medical robot for teleechography.

Abstract

International audience; For new robot applications, as medical robots, safety has became a major concern. The human sharing the working area with the robot led to integrate the field of human factors in the development. Hence, the human component has to be integrated in the early steps of the development process. Regards to the complexity of today's robotic application, and to the requirements of a teamwork, we choose UML as the language. This paper focuses on the UML modeling contribution to the human factors analysis of a medical robot. A first section presents the function allocation and task analysis step, and a second section deals with human error. Each section is illustrated by a case study of a system for robotic tele-echography (ultrasound scan examination).

Service robot systems, as medical robots, can perform complex tasks and sharetheir working area with humans. Therefore, they belong to safety critical systems. We first propose the use of UML (Unified Modeling Language) as thedescription language and we integrate human factors activities for the system definition step.Then, for the next steps, interactions of UML and risk analysis techniques such as FMECA(Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis) and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) are studied.As an illustration of its potentiality, the proposed approach is then applied to the case studyof a system for robotic tele-echography (ultrasound scan examination) actuated by artificialmuscles of McKibben.; Les systèmes de la robotique de service, tels que les robots médicaux, permettentde réaliser des tâches complexes en milieu humain, et s'intègrent à ce titre dans les systèmes àsécurité critique. International audience; The reduction of embedded electronic systems susceptibility to electromagnetic fields is often obtained by hardware devices whose cost must be added to each product. On the contrary, we consider the use of conventional hardware systems (COTS) handling their misfunctioning by software techniques. This paper introduces software detection mechanisms whose development cost is low as the mechanisms are generic, that is, independent on the specific functionalities of the software applications processed by the electronic systems.

9 pages; International audience; The quality of ultrasound based diagnosis highly depends on the operator's skills. Some healthcare centres may not have the required medical experts on hand when needed and therefore may not benefit from highly specialized ultrasound examinations. The aim of this project is to provide a reliable solution in order to perform expert ultrasound examinations in distant geographical areas and for the largest population possible. TER is a tele-robotic system designed and developed by a French consortium composed of universities, hospitals and industrial companies. One originality of TER is the development of a compliant slave robot actuated by muscles. This slave robot is tele-operated by an expert clinician who remotely performs the exam. In this paper, we present the architecture of TER and describe its components.

International audience; Project performance measurement helps monitoring and controlling project processes, and thus improves project outcomes based on a set of indicators, typically lagging and leading indicators. Lagging indicators provide a comprehensive view on project health outcomes. Leading indicators are complementary; they can be used in a proactive way to enable companies to take corrective actions before performance decreases. But applying leading indicators on project management is not well developed because these indicators are difficult to be elaborated and interpreted. However, [Roedler et al., 2010] provided a great contribution to the state of art with a set of 18 leading indicators in the large domain of Systems Engineering. A deep analysis of literature also showed that some specific field of application, such as Civil Engineering, independently developed their own set of leading indicators. This paper thus analyzes and compares both sets of leading indicators in Systems Engineering and in Civil Engineering to point out similarities and differences, and to evaluate whether leading indicators defined in a field could be adapted to the other, with the goal to improve performance measurement by extending the current scope and structure of indicators. Mais les indicateurs avancés dans la gestion de projet est peu développée car ces indicateurs sont difficiles à interpréter. Cependant, [Roedler et al., 2010] ont fourni une contribution avec un ensemble de 18 indicateurs avancés, dans le domaine de l'Ingénierie Système. Une analyse approfondie de la littérature a également montré que certains champs d'application spécifiques, tels que le Génie Civil, ont développé leur propre ensemble d'indicateurs avancés. Ainsi, cet article analyse et compare les deux ensembles d'indicateurs avancés en Ingénierie Système et en Génie Civil, pour évaluer si les indicateurs avancés définis dans un domaine pourraient être adaptés à l'autre, dans le but d'améliorer la mesure de la performance en étendant la portée et la structure actuelles des indicateurs.

Abstract

International audience; Wrong human-robot interactions are at the origin of severe damages. Safety requirements ask the analysis of these interactions. At first, erroneous interactions have to be identified. In this paper, we propose to use UML (Unified Modeling Language) to specify human robot interaction. Then, generic error models, associated with the message feature provided by UML, are presented. These error models allow interaction errors to be automatically deduced from the modeling of the human-robot interactions. The use of these generic error models is illustrated on a medical robot for tele-echography.

Abstract

Symposium E, session 14, paper number E14-0007-10 (Oral); The HssO (Herschel solar system Observations) program aims at determining the distribution, the evolution and the origin of water in Mars, the Outer Planets, Titan, Enceladus and comets, using the three Herschel instruments HIFI, PACS and SPIRE. It addresses the broad topic of water and its isotopologues in planetary and cometary atmospheres. The nature of cometary activity and the thermodynamics of cometary comae will be investigated by studying water excitation in a sample of comets. The D/H ratio, the key parameter for constraining the origin and evolution of Solar System materials, will be measured for the first time in a Jupiter family comet. A comparison with existing and new measurements of D/H in Oort cloud comets will constrain the composition of pre-solar cometary grains and possibly the dynamics of the protosolar nebula. New measurements of D/H in Giant Planets, similarly constraining the composition of proto-planetary ices, will be obtained. The D/H and other isotopic ratios, diagnostics of the evolution of Mars atmosphere, will be accurately measured in H2O and CO. The role of water vapour in the atmospheric chemistry of Mars will be studied by monitoring vertical profiles of H2O and HDO and by searching for several other species (including CO and H2O isotopologues). A detailed study of the source of water in the upper atmosphere of the Giant Planets and Titan will be performed. By monitoring the water abundance, vertical profile, and input fluxes in the various objects, and when possible with the help of mapping observations, we will discriminate between the possible sources of water in the Outer Planets (interplanetary dust particles, cometary impacts, and local sources). First results on comets, Mars and the outer planets will be presented.

Abstract

Industries have to design and produce performing and reliable systems. Nevertheless, designers suffer from the diversity of methods, which are not really adequate to their needs. Authors highlight the interactions between processes involved into the global design process, and focus on the product and project design processes, often treated either independently or sequentially. They study the organisation of the exchanges between these two processes and propose a methodology with regard to the standards of System Engineering and the recommendations of Model Driven Engineering (MDE), in the context of what is called the 'co-design' paradigm. Finally, this study is extended to the design of network of partners process also.

Abstract

International audience; L'utilisation de systèmes robotiques dans le domaine médical, initiée il y a quelques années, pose le problème de la sécurité au sein d'un environnement où l'homme est très présent. La complexité de tels systèmes et le transfert de responsabilités du chirurgien vers le robot conduisent les concepteurs à intégrer dans leurs études des exigences de sûreté de fonctionnement, et notamment un de ses attributs essentiels~: la sécurité. Bien que cette disciplinesoit largement étudiée dans des domaines à sécurité critique comme l'avionique, la spécificité de la robotique médicale nous amène à reconsidérer la notion de risque qui y est associée. En partant de l'effet indésiré, le dommage, on remonte aux causes en considérant les notions de danger, de risque et de sécurité. Cela nous conduit à l'identification des moyens possibles pour gérer le risque associé à l'utilisation de systèmes de la robotique médicale. Les notions introduites sont illustrées par notre expérience issue du développement d'un robot télé-échographe.

Abstract

International audience; Humanoid robots are currently widely studied because of the many future applications they could be used for. Many researchers are working on the locomotion aspects. We are more interested in dual-arm manipulation tasks, because of our long experience on this topic. In this paper, we consider the task consisting in assembling two objects, each of them being held by one of the humanoid arms, as human beings often do. In this framework, we briefly recall methods that we have developed in the past for (i) hybrid position/force control of a two-arm robot and (ii) relative positioning of the end-effectors of two manipulators. We propose to combine these approaches with a solution using the vision system of the humanoid in order to fully automatize the assembly task. Tests have successfully been performed with the OpenHRP simulator of the HRP2 humanoid but they only represent preliminary work. Therefore, this short paper should be considered as an introduction to the research activities we would like to focus on in the future.

Abstract

International audience; Today, as systems become more and more complex, safety is becoming critical. Reducing the risk to an acceptable level with a complete risk management activity is necessary. This paper more precisely focuses on risk analysis; its demonstrate how the use of a risk analysis technic such as the Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) can be coupled to a object oriented system modeling process in order to guide the designer to exhaustively consider all potential risk, to increase the system security. For the system model, we chose the UML notation, which is now a standard in system and software engineering.
