Abstract

Aiming at the problem that the noise information is fixed when the extended Kalman filter(EKF) algorithm estimates the state of charge(SOC) of lithium-ion battery, resulting in low estimation accuracy, an adaptive extended Kalman filter(AEKF) algorithm with automatic matching of noise information covariance is proposed. Firstly, the parameters are identified based on the dual polarization (DP)equivalent circuit model of the battery, and an accurate equivalent model is established. Then, the variation of noise covariance matrix of EKF filtering algorithm and AEKF filtering algorithm and the estimation effect of battery SOC are compared under dynamic stress test(DST) conditions. The results show that AEKF filtering algorithm has higher estimation accuracy. Finally, several groups of different SOC initial deviations are set to verify the strong robustness of AEKF filtering algorithm in estimating battery SOC.

Abstract

In small-scale grid-connected wind energy conversion systems with DC-link energy storage components, traditional PWM technology is usually used to produce sine wave output current. However, for the converter topology without DC-link energy storage components used in the wind generation system with a high-inductance permanent magnetic synchronous generator, the DC current in the DC-link of the converter would be fluctuant. In this case, the traditional PWM method can not provide high quality power to the utility. To solve the problem above, a novel control strategy is proposed through detailed analysis of operating characteristics of the system, and an accurate math model of modulation index in accordance with the proposed control scheme is deduced on the basis of energy balance law as well. A simulation model is established for the verification of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the waveform and amplitude of the grid-connected current can be well controlled by the proposed method and control strategy.

Abstract

For small scale direct drive wind generation systems based on high-inductance permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and current source inverter (CSI), the combination of PMSG and uncontrolled rectifier forms a DC current source with the inherent fluctuant magnitude because there is no DC inductance to smooth it. Therefore, the exact control of waveform of grid-connected output current of the CSI is impossible just by the traditional SPWM control technology. This paper presents a real-time predictive dynamic control strategy to calculate the factor of amplitude modulation to control both the wave form and the amplitude of output current of CSI fed to the grid. The proposed control strategy is analyzed in detail in theory and validated by simulation and experiment. The simulation results show that by the proposed control strategy, the grid-connected current of CSI can be controlled to follow the reference command exactly and with very low THD. The experiment results will also be given in full paper.

Abstract

Fractional-slot concentrated windings are adopted to design a prototype of 10kw permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with high-inductance in terms of requirements of a new wind power system based on current source converter. The generator characteristics at different operation modes are analyzed by finite element method. The simulation results show that the cogging torque is small with the sine wave of Back EMF and small fluctuation of output rectified DC current, which meet the requirements of wind power system based on current source converter.

Abstract

Performances of induction-motor-based residential photovoltaic water pump system (IMRPWPS) with low DC voltage input (24 V DC) are tested in laboratory under four different operation modes, such as efficiency of DC-AC converter with high-frequency DC-DC stage, machine-pump and overall system. By analysis of these experiment results, it is discovered that the operation head and voltage-frequency ratio of motor (U/f) have significant effect on the performances of IMRPWPS besides the configuration of system components. And the minimum unit water cost may not be reached only by the control strategy of maximum output power of the system. Hence, as for a certain site, the proper selection of characteristics of converter and motor-pump and optimal ratio of U/f is significantly important to improve the economic performance of the system.
