Purpose: Floral waste, as a frequently overlooked resource for sustainable agriculture, can be harnessed to produce nutrient-rich soil amendments resulting in an enhancement of soil fertility and augment crop yields. This in turn can foster a circular economy, minimizing waste disposal and promoting a green economy. This study was aimed to explore the potential of rose distillation waste and other organic amendments as sustainable alternatives to traditional synthetic chemicals, particularly in the context of rose production. Method: The data was collected experimentally in a controlled greenhouse condition. A complete randomized block design with three replicates was applied to conduct the experimental units. The study investigated the combined effects of three organic amendments: goat manure rose distillation waste, and compost, as well as a bio-stimulant containing both Mycorrhizae and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria. Several parameters, including growth traits and leaves nutrient content, were assessed. Results: Rose distillation waste proved to be a promising organic amendment with a significant positive effect on the growth and development of seedlings. Rose distillation waste substrate showed a remarkable increase in terms of leaf area and a maximum apical internode growth of 1.5 mm. The incorporation of bio-stimulant in the rose distillation waste substrate resulted in significant stem height growth of 11.3 cm and a high bud break rate of 73.3%. Conclusion: The findings of the study offer valuable insights into the sustainable management of rose production. The use of rose distillation waste as an organic amendment not only enhances plant growth but also positively impacts nutrient content in leaves. This highlights the potential of rose distillation waste as a sustainable and easily available resource for use in organic agriculture. Background. The goal of Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) surveillance is to comprehensively investigate and report any case of a child below 15 years with a floppy weakness. This is essential for the poliovirus eradication initiative. Objective. In this study, we analyzed the results of nine-year surveillance (2010–2018) of AFP in Morocco. Method. This was a descriptive, retrospective study of cases with AFP routinely documented at the National Referral Laboratory of Polio (NRLP) from 2010 to 2018. Results. Among the 884 AFP cases identified and analyzed, we identified 11 polioviruses as Sabin-like vaccine strains (PSL). PSL were isolated in 11 samples of AFP cases received at the laboratory, including one PSL1, three PSL2 + PSL3, one PSL1 + PSL2, and one PSL1 + 2 + 3. The annualized nonpolio AFP rate per 100,000 children under 15 years ranged from 0.84 during 2011–2015 to 2.29 in 2018. The stool adequacy indicator was poor and may be improved with better delivery times and maintaining the cold chain. The incidence of isolated nonpolio enteroviruses (NPEV) varied between 2.27% and 12.6%, with the average not exceeding 6.35%; the incidence remained low compared to the indicator set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Conclusion. Morocco was certified polio-free by WHO in 2015, and since then no cases of wild poliovirus have been reported. Overall, although the nonpolio AFP rate has risen to the WHO standard, stool adequacy and the proportion of nonpolio enteroviruses need to be improved. The laboratory can adopt alternative techniques, independent of cell culture, to ensure that imported cases of poliovirus are not missed, especially in this era of eradication.

INTRODUCTION: Autodialysis is the dialysis performed by the patient himself at a local center instead of a hemodialysis center. In Morocco, the practice of hemodialysis dates back to 1970; however, an autodialysis center does not yet exist. The objective was to assess the potential medical fitness and adherence of the patients to an autodialysis program. METHODS: descriptive and analytical multicenter study conducted in March 2015 involving patients from of eight hemodialysis centers in Casablanca (Morocco). The study was conducted in two steps: 1) a transversal assessment of the medical potential to achieve autodialysis that included 556 patients; 2) a survey of the autodialysis membership that included 383 out of 556 patients who were deemed eligible for autodialysis. RESULTS: the average age was 54.63 , 15.16 years; the average of hemodialysis duration was 85.9 , 78.1 months. Diabetic nephropathy (22.7%) was the predominant cause of kidney disease. The assessment of medical potential to achieve autodialysis highlighted that almost all of the patients were in good condition (93%), independent (81%), and those without major comorbidities were less than 76 years old. Regarding the potential patients' adherence to autodialysis, among the 383 patients previously deemed suited for autodialysis, 293 (76.5%) responded favorably to the proposal of self-dialysis. CONCLUSION: the practice of hemodialysis should be implemented in a short time in Morocco because our patients' profile is perfectly suitable to this therapeutic method especially when they are young, in good general condition, autonomous, without major comorbidities, and willing to learn.

Twenty cadaveric kidney allograft recipients were prerandomized into two groups. Ten patients (control group) were treated postoperatively with azathioprine (AZA) plus methylprednisolone (MP): the other ten received cyclosporin A (CyA) as the only immunosuppressive agent. Both groups received MP during rejection. One patient was excluded from the CyA group because of an early postoperative cardiac infarction and death. All transplants were monitored by alternate-day tine-needle aspiration biopsy and transplant aspiration cytology. Some patients treated with CyA had a significant initial decrease in urine output, reaching control values approximately 1 week postoperatively. The mechanism behind this deteriorated renal function is not clear, but it seemed to have been caused by injuries to the kidney tubular component, since a distinct monocytic-lymphocytic inflammation and severe cytological changes resembling pronounced acute tubular necrosis were observed concomitantly in transplant aspiration cytology. The CyA-treated patients had normal levels of blood leucocytes, thrombocyte and lymphocytes but displayed a strong early blood eosinophilia that was absent in the control subjects. During the first 30 days after transplantation 15 in situ episodes of inflammation were recorded in the nine transplants treated with CyA, whereas only 6 episodes were found in the 10 transplants receiving AZA + MP(P < 0.01). The first inflammatory episode in the CyA-treated transplants peaked between days 5 and 8 after transplantation and was followed by another distinct inflammatory episode between days 23 and 26. In the AZA- plus MP-treated transplants, only one inflammation episode was observed, with a peak on day 14 postoperatively. The inflammatory cell types most prominently present in the CyA-treated transplants were lymphocytes, B plasmablasts and monocytes. The early inflammatory episodes in the CyA-treated transplants may have been related to the fact that during the initial intramuscular administration, therapeutic CyA concentrations in patient serum were not achieved until the fourth postoperative day during peroral administration. The onset of transplant function had no impact on the in situ inflammatory response of rejection in the CyA-treated transplants or on the concentration of CyA in patient serum. This indicates that CyA may also be used in initially nonfunctioning transplants, Confirming our earlier results, we were unable to demonstrate the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens on the healthy grafts treated with AZA plus MP. However, in healthy allografts treated with CyA, both classes of MHC antigens were nearly invariably demonstrable on the graft endothelial cell surface. Cryptosporidium parvum coproantigens (CCAg) of 18 and 20 kDa were identified in the stool eluates of calves and humans infected with Cryptosporidium species. Monospecific antibodies raised against the 20-kDa antigen recognized both 18- and 20-kDa CCAg in all positive but no negative control samples. These antibodies reacted with C. parvum sporozoites in an immunofluorescence assay. Human immune sera recognized the 20-kDa antigen in infected calf stool eluates. Both 18- and 20-kDa CCAg remained intact in commonly used preservatives and at various temperatures. Twenty-eight sero-negative young women were vaccinated with RA 27/3 or HPV-77/DE5 strain live attenuated rubella vaccine. Haemagglutination-inhibiting antibody developed in all but one of the subjects. Rubella-specific IgM antibodies were demonstrable 3-6 weeks after vaccination. Complement-fixing and platelet aggregation antibodies were more often detectable alter RA 27/3 than after HPV-77/DE5 vaccination. After vaccination the blood lymphoblast count increased with a peak at 2 weeks. In one subject no humoral antibody response was detectable but even in this case there was a lymphoblast response. A marked increase in blasts was detected in a single case of natural rubella infection. In the vaccinated subjects the tuberculin skin test did not reveal suppression of delayed hypersensitivity 3 weeks after vaccination, nor was there a change in the responsiveness of lymphocytes to PHA in vitro 2 weeks after vaccination.
