Abstract

Presently, there exists a multitude of applications reliant on superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), categorized into two groups. The first pertains to power quality enhancement, while the second focuses on improving power system stability. Nonetheless, the integration of these dual functionalities into a singular apparatus poses a persistent challenge. Considering this, this paper proposes a multi-functional device based on SMES, encompassing both power quality enhancement and power system stability improvement capabilities. It incorporates power quality enhancement features such as current harmonic filtering, active power smoothing, reactive power compensation, and critical load protection, while also furnishing virtual inertia to bolster grid frequency. Abstract

Pitch system is an essential subsystem of a wind turbine, which is to efficiently capture and maximize the utilization of wind energy by controlling the rotation of the blades. Its safety and stability directly affect the operation of wind farm, but the complex internal mechanics and control system makes pitch system very susceptible to failure. This paper first summarized fault diagnosis and fault prediction about pitch system of wind turbine. We were briefly introduced the main faults of electric-driven and hydraulic-driven pitch systems, the sources of diagnostic data, and the methods pre-processing. Then, four types of fault diagnosis methods and three fault prediction methods were discussed to provide a valuable guidance for the maintenance of pitch systems. Finally, the prospect on the future development of fault diagnosis and fault prediction techniques about pitch system was suggested to further improve the safety of wind turbines. Abstract

Virtual synchronous machine technology, which simulates the electromechanical transient characteristics of synchronous generators, enables the power supply or load that adopt a converter with a number of its external characteristics, including inertia, damping, frequency and voltage regulation. With the rapid increase of the installed power capacity using clean energy, traditional virtual synchronous generator technology cannot meet the requirements. Considering the dynamic characteristics of primary source, such as wind energy or solar energy, and influence of the inverter's control strategy on power network frequency, the demand for rotational inertia of power grid under different working conditions as well, combined with adaptive control technology, this paper introduces three adaptive control strategies of virtual synchronous generator. These control strategies can improve the flexibility, scalability and reliability of the virtual synchronous generator.

Abstract

The primary side series-secondary side series (SS) compensation network of a wireless power transfer system has a simple structure. But its output voltage changes with different load resistances. This limits its applications in certain circumstances need a stable output voltage. Aiming at this problem, this paper presents a novel resonant network with output voltage stability when load resistance changes. The resonant network presented in this paper is based on an LCL (inductance-capacitance-inductance) immittance converter, and is improved of the basic SS compensation network. First of all, the operational principle and the frequency characteristics of the LCL-SS resonant network are discussed. Then, output characteristics of the LCL-SS and the SS compensation network are analyzed in a simulation model, and the simulation results illustrate the advantages of the proposed resonant converter. At last, an experimental prototype, delivering 254W power to a resistive load at the distance of 15cm, is constructed based on this resonant converter. The theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed method are verified by the experimental results.

Abstract

Frequency splitting is a key characteristic of wireless power transfer system. With the increases of coupling coefficient, the power transferred to load drops sharply. The resonant frequency splits from one into two within splitting region. Previous reports about frequency splitting mainly focused on the analysis of coupled mode theory or the solutions of ridge equations. In this work, we presented the analytical results based on a simply T-type circuit model. With impedance analysis, the even and odd splitting frequencies were derived. In addition, the frequency splitting phenomena were analysed with output voltage curves at different coupling by the aid of simulation. Furthermore, the frequency splitting and the frequency bifurcation discussed frequently in inductively coupled wireless power transfer system were analysed comparatively based on the circuit model. Then, a half-bridge inverter based wireless power system was constructed to demonstrate the experimental results. Finally, the simulation and experimental results validated the theoretical analysis.
