A burgeoning corpus of scholarly inquiry indicates that engagement in physical activity among children yields a plethora of advantageous outcomes, including enhanced cardiorespiratory endurance, improved academic performance, augmented cognitive functioning, as well as advancements in social and psychological well-being. Given that students participate in schooling for up to 200 days per annum, physical education (PE) possesses the potential to substantially influence the physiological and cognitive maturation of school-aged children through purposeful pedagogical practices. The notion of quality physical education (QPE), whose paramount objective is the cultivation of physical literacy, represents a critical element in the facilitation of both physiological and cognitive growth in children. Consequently, the objective of this investigation was to examine the ramifications of a continuing professional development program on educators' self-efficacy and, in turn, on their students' physical fitness and educational outcomes. The inquiry was conducted over a 32-week span during which teachers and students participated in a continuing professional development training (CPD) intervention and a physical literacy (PL) program, respectively. At both the initiation and conclusion of the intervention programs, a comprehensive series of standardized assessments were administered, including the Motorfit battery, Spirometry, Physical Education Teaching Efficacy Scale (PETES), and Amos 8–15. As a consequence, a significant Time × Group interaction effect for the Motorfit battery, Spirometry, PETES, and Amos 8–15 was identified. This finding suggests a meaningful improvement in the treatment groups (p < 0.001). Conversely, no notable alterations were recorded within the comparison groups. The outcomes of this research reinforce the assertion that exemplary instruction in physical education exerts a profound influence on the physiological well-being and academic achievements of students. - Abstract
Wheelchair Tennis is a dynamic sport that necessitates a blend of speed, agility, quickness, strength, power, and endurance. An athlete not only requires these attributes but also must maintain a high-performance level throughout an extended season. Consequently, adjustments in programming are essential to enhance cardiorespiratory capacity, upper-body strength, and agility proficiency in a manner that incorporates intermittent features. One viable approach is the utilization of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) methodology. Consequently, the aim of this research was to evaluate the alterations in cardiorespiratory fitness, musculoskeletal strength, and agility proficiency among wheelchair tennis athletes following a HIIT regimen. The study involved 30 wheelchair tennis players with spinal cord injuries aged between 19 and 28 years. They were divided into an experimental group, which participated in a HIIT program [EG, n = 15], and a control group, which adhered to a standard training regimen [CG, n = 15]. All participants underwent anthropometric assessments, the wheelchair yo-yo test, and hand grip evaluation. The results displayed a significant Time x Group interaction for the yo-yo test and hand grip evaluation, indicating a marked improvement in the intervention group (p < 0.001). Conversely, no substantial changes were observed in the control group. Therefore, it could be claimed that that the inclusion of a HIIT protocol in the daily training regime leads to a significant positive influence on the cardiorespiratory fitness, musculoskeletal strength, and agility capabilities of wheelchair tennis players., El tenis en silla de ruedas es un deporte dinámico que requiere una mezcla de velocidad, agilidad, rapidez, fuerza, potencia y resistencia.

Exercise and sports may play a crucial role for individuals with disabilities due to their restricted levels of physical activity. Among people with disabilities, engaging in sports and exercise has the potential to notably enhance their physical and physiological functioning. Consequently, the aim of this research was to investigate the effects of a circuit training program on the cardiorespiratory fitness, musculoskeletal strength, and agility of wheelchair users. The study involved 28 participants with paraplegia as a result of spinal cord injury, aged between 19 and 40 years, who were divided into two groups: an experimental group (EG, n = 14) participating in circuit training, and a control group (CG, n = 14) undergoing aerobic upper-body exercise exclusively. All subjects took part in the wheelchair yo-yo test and hand grip test, both conducted at the commencement and conclusion of the training period. The results displayed a significant Time x Group interaction for both variables, indicating a substantial improvement in the intervention group (p < 0.001), while no significant changes were observed in the control group. Therefore, the findings suggest that incorporating circuit training into the daily routine of wheelchair users has a positive impact on their overall well-being, ultimately enhancing their quality of life., El ejercicio y los deportes pueden desempeñar un papel crucial para las personas con discapacidades debido a sus niveles restringidos de actividad física.

- Abstract
The school context embodies the optimal environment for educating children towards the adoption of active lifestyles. This is auspicious not only in terms of physical health but also from a psycho-pedagogical and social standpoint. The need to integrate physical activity into the school routine, particularly in primary education, where behaviors are established and carried on into later stages of life, emerges clearly from the scientific literature. Health education sessions with a focus on preventive measures can be organized by the school’s medical services for the benefit of students. It is imperative within educational practices to view the motor domain as a crucial instrument for instilling appropriate lifestyles, enhancing cognitive growth, fostering inclusivity, and addressing psycho-emotional and socio-relational aspects. The school environment can significantly contribute by serving as a pivotal setting for promoting physical activity throughout various periods of the day. Movement can be incorporated into teaching activities, and active breaks can be integrated into class hours, either before or after lessons. This study stems from a comprehensive examination of the existing literature regarding the correlation between the school environment, health, and preventive health promotion.

- Abstract
The utilization of a wheelchair exclusively has a profound impact on an individual's musculoskeletal, metabolic, and cardiorespiratory functions. Various programs focusing on physical activity intervention have proven to effectively enhance these physiological responses in wheelchair users. Nevertheless, there has been a limited number of studies investigating the impact of a circuit training physical activity adaptive program on improving these parameters in wheelchair basketball participants. Therefore, the primary aim of this research was to evaluate and identify alterations in cardiorespiratory fitness and musculoskeletal strength among wheelchair basketball players following a circuit training intervention. The study involved 36 male wheelchair basketball athletes with spinal cord injuries aged between 19 and 26 years. They were divided into an experimental group participating in a circuit training program [EG, n = 18], and a control group undergoing exclusively aerobic upper-body exercise training [CG, n = 18]. Anthropometric measurements and the 12-minute wheelchair propulsion distance test, which evaluates the maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), were conducted for all participants at the commencement and conclusion of the training period. The results demonstrated a significant interaction between Time and Group for the 12-minute wheelchair propulsion distance variable, indicating a notable improvement in the intervention group (p < 0.001). Conversely, no significant changes were observed in the control group. Hence, the findings suggest that incorporating circuit training exercises into the daily training regimen can have a substantial positive influence on the cardiorespiratory fitness and musculoskeletal strength of wheelchair basketball players., La utilización exclusiva de una silla de ruedas tiene un profundo impacto en las funciones musculoesqueléticas, metabólicas y cardiorrespiratorias de un individuo.

- Abstract
Among the multifarious adapted sports, wheelchair basketball stands out as a highly recommended group activity among individuals with paraplegia, including those with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Athletes facing this particular impairment exhibit distinct alterations in their metabolic, cardiorespiratory, neuromuscular, and thermoregulatory systems, ultimately leading to a diminished physiological respiratory capacity in comparison to able-bodied individuals or those with other forms of impairments. The primary objective of the present research endeavor is therefore to explore the impact of a comprehensive exercise regime, encompassing both aerobic and anaerobic components, upon the enhancement of the aerobic capacity of wheelchair basketball athletes. A total of 32 wheelchair basketball players, ranging in age from 34 to 42, were enlisted in the study, with half allocated to an experimental group engaging in combined aerobic and anaerobic training [EG, n = 16], while the remaining participants were assigned to a control group undertaking solely aerobic exercise training [CG, n = 16]. The 12-minute wheelchair propulsion distance was utilized to evaluate the V̇O2peak in individuals with paraplegia, both before and after the intervention. The findings revealed a significant Time x Group interaction for the 12-minute wheelchair propulsion distance variable, highlighting a notable enhancement in the treatment group (p < 0.001). In contrast, no substantial changes were detected in the control group.

- Abstract
Volleyball is perceived as a physically demanding sport that involves rapid changes in speed, deceleration, and abrupt alterations in movement direction. It has been emphasized that physiological attributes such as VO2max, PIF, PEF, and FVC play a crucial role in the athletic performance of individuals participating in dynamic sports, aiding them in effectively managing critical situations. Hence, the aim of this research was to evaluate the impact of endurance training on physiological parameters among volleyball athletes. A randomized controlled trial was carried out with 24 male players (mean age 21,58; SD±2,46 years). The assessment of physiological characteristics involved the utilization of a dry spirometer for VO2max measurement and the Multistage Fitness Test for assessing PIF, PEF, and FVC. A two-way Anova analysis was executed to ascertain any disparities in physiological parameters from pre-test to post-test. The results indicated notable variances in physiological traits (VO2max, PIF, PEF, and FVC) among volleyball participants following the implementation of the Tabata intervention regimen. These metrics are instrumental in enhancing physiological capabilities to attain superior athletic performances. When designing training regimens, it is imperative to consider physiological functional elements aligned with the specific demands of the sport., El voleibol se percibe como un deporte físicamente exigente que implica cambios rápidos de velocidad, desaceleración y alteraciones bruscas en la dirección del movimiento.

- Abstract
Purpose. Numerous studies suggest that specialized respiratory muscle training can enhance physical capacity, pulmonary function, and athletic performance, particularly in soccer players. Due to the significant influence of respiratory muscle performance on exercise capability and cardiopulmonary reaction to physical activity, systematic conditioning and assessment of respiratory muscle performance ought to be contemplated in athletes. Therefore, this research aimed to determine whether intermittent resistance training could improve the endurance capabilities of amateur soccer players involved in competitive recreational soccer. Methods. The study involved twenty (n = 20) senior soccer players (mean age 41.2 ± 3.1 years) participating in competitive amateur soccer. The participants were divided into two groups, each subjected to different levels of resistance during both training sessions and matches, while all participants possessed standard medical and fitness parameters. The soccer participants were divided into two categories (Control Group A and Experimental Group B with lower resistance levels), ensuring regular attendance at prescribed weekly training sessions and additional sessions over a six-month period. A standardized assessment motor test (Cooper test), and Spirometry were administered at baseline and after training. Results. The processed data enabled the determination of VO2max, considering the mixed energy expenditure characteristics of football. A significant portion of the team (65%) exhibited inadequate performance in terms of fatigue resistance, potentially linked to an incomplete 12-minute test. This underscores the necessity for enhancing endurance and stamina. Conclusions. The present investigation offers evidence that supports a positive correlation between physiological performance and the impact of resistance training in amateur senior soccer players. Young athletes are constantly developing, and their performance reflects this ongoing process. By understanding performance variations and implementing appropriate training strategies, coaches and stakeholders can help young athletes develop their skills and athletic potential, as well as psychological well-being. Volleyball skills, such as explosive strength and serving precision, play a crucial role in determining the outcomes of volleyball matches. In contrast, mental well-being contributes to enhancing psychological performance. This prospective, randomized, parallel-group trial investigates the effectiveness of Pilates for young volleyball players. We investigated whether Pilates improves certain individual volleyball skills (explosive strength and serving precision) and certain psychological aspects (state of mindfulness) in young, male, 12–14-year-old athletes. Participation in this 12-week study involved 40 athletes (PG = 20; CG = 20). The Control Group had regular training and the Pilates Group had regular training plus twenty-four additional Pilates sessions. The Pilates Group showed a significant improvement in the variables under investigation by 4–7% (p < 0.001). Pilates training can improve individual volleyball skills in young male athletes and may also benefit overall psychophysical development. This study suggests that incorporating Pilates into training programs for young volleyball players can be beneficial for individual skill development and potentially overall psychophysical well-being, assuming an important role in the educational development of the young. - Abstract
Sports performance tracking has gained a lot of interest and widespread use in recent years, especially in elite and sub-elite sports. This makes it possible to improve the effectiveness of training, to calibrate and balance workloads according to real energy expenditure, and to reduce the likelihood of injuries due to excessive physical stress. In this context, the aim of this review was to map the scientific literature on wearable devices used in field hockey, evaluating their characteristics and the available evidence on their validity in measuring physiological and movement parameters. A systematic investigation was carried out by employing five electronic databases and search terms that incorporated field hockey, wearables, and performance analysis. Two independent reviewers conducted assessments of the 3401 titles and abstracts for inclusion, and at the end of the screening process, 102 full texts were analyzed. Lastly, a total of 23 research articles that specifically concentrated on field hockey were incorporated. The selected papers dealt with performance monitoring (6 papers), technical analysis and strategy game (6), injury prevention (1), and physiological measurements (10). To appraise the quality of the evaluations, the Oxford quality scoring system scale was employed. The extraction of information was carried out through the utilization of the participants, intervention, comparison, and outcomes (PICOS) format. The analysis encompassed research studies that implemented wearable devices during training and competitive events. Among elite field hockey competitions, GPS units were identified as the predominant wearable, followed by heart rate monitors. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) related to wearable devices showed reasonably high between-trial ICCs ranging from 0.77 to 0.99. The utilization of wearable devices in field hockey primarily centers around the measurement of player activity profiles and physiological demands. The presence of discrepancies in sampling rates and performance bands makes it arduous to draw comparisons between studies. Nevertheless, this analysis attested to the fact that wearable devices are being employed for diverse applications in the realm of field hockey. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

VERTICAL jump ,VOLLEYBALL players ,BODY mass index ,FAT ,FEMALES - Abstract
Introduction. Squat jumps (SJ) and countermovement jumps (CMJ) are commonly used as tests to assess power output of lower extremities. Aim of Study. The aim of this article was to analyze differences between two vertical jumps in order to assess explosive power in elite female volleyball players and identify mechanisms responsible for existence of those differences. Material and Methods. Participants of this study were 14 elite female volleyball players of the Montenegro U19 national team (age: 18.42 ± 1.34 years; height: 178.15 ± 4.9 cm; weight: 68.1 ± 5.83 kg; body mass index: 21.34 ± 1.10 kg/m²; body fat: 18.89 ± 3.70%). Jump height data for a SJ and a CMJ was obtained using OptoJump device (Optojump, Microgate, Bolzano, Italy). Results. The results showed that there is no statistically significant difference (F = 0.093, p < 0.124) between the heights of the SJ (26.64 ± 2.93 cm) and the CMJ (26.65 ± 2.85 cm). Conclusions. The findings suggest that elastic energy has very little effect on improving CMJ performance. On the other hand, CMJ training can reduce an ability to effectively create pre-tension and quickly build stimulation, because athletes are not forced to do so, as the CMJ reduces a degree of muscle relaxation and provides more time to create stimulation. Based on the data, the CMJ may be detrimental to high-intensity sports performance if performed over a longer time frame. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PRIMARY education , *MOTOR learning , *PHYSICAL education , *PRIMARY schools , *SELF-perception - Abstract
Physical education, especially in the context of primary school, represents for the child the first and, in some cases, even the only structured setting in which to experiment with motor experiences that have semantic and logical connections with other learnings. It contributes significantly to promote the educational process through the perception of the bodily self, the learning of motor skills, the increase of opportunities to implement motor sequences. in which the child can be fully involved not only on the physical-motor level but also on the cognitive, emotional, and social level. In this context, the aim of this paper is to highlight how, through a conscious pedagogical action oriented towards the proposal of significant motor experiences and the acquisition of new skills, it is possible to promote an adequate didactic planning capable of attributing the right value to motor action. In the transition from kindergarten to primary school, children are confronted for the first time with new learning, such as reading, writing and arithmetic. In order for this to happen in the best possible way, it is important that the child possesses a series of prerequisites that involve not only the linguistic sphere, but also the motor sphere. In the first years of life, children explore and learn about the world around them through their bodies and movements. Through motor experiences, the child develops not only his physical skills, but also cognitive skills. Promoting the acquisition of didactic and educational skills through physical activity, becomes essential to be able to exert concrete help especially towards those children who have school difficulties or special educational needs. This paper aims to recognize the value of kindergarten in relation to the learning processes of basic skills of reading, writing, arithmetic, socialization, and cooperation. In particular, the purpose is to demonstrate the positive influence of physical activity on school prerequisites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
